Quotes of the day
posted at 10:20 pm on September 20, 2009 by Allahpundit
STEPHANOPOULOS: How about the funding for ACORN?
OBAMA: You know, if — frankly, it’s not really something I’ve followed closely. I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Both the Senate and the House have voted to cut it off.
OBAMA: You know, what I know is, is that what I saw on that video was certainly inappropriate and deserves to be investigated.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So you’re not committing to — to cut off the federal funding?
OBAMA: George, this is not the biggest issue facing the country. It’s not something I’m paying a lot of attention to.
***
“Independent prosecutors should not be appointed lightly. But in this case, there are good reasons why Atty. Gen. Eric Holder and other political appointees in the Justice Department should step aside. First, although no allegations have yet touched the Obama campaign, ACORN did have significant ties to the campaign and other progressive causes. Published reports show that ACORN and its subsidiaries received some $800,000 from the Obama campaign to get out the vote. Second, ACORN is intimately tied to the Service Employees International Union, one of President Barack Obama’s most powerful and vocal supporters…
What we have seen on tape cries out for a serious, independent investigation to determine if ACORN and its affiliates are a criminal enterprise, whether they have spent federal grants lawfully, whether they helped taxpayers file fraudulent returns, and whether they violated laws prohibiting tax-exempt organizations from engaging in partisan politics. These are big questions, and the public needs to know that Washington’s answers are fair and impartial.”
***
“Now that the White House supports an investigation, Congress should make sure to investigate:
1) How Team Obama hid its $800,000 campaign payment to ACORN through front group ‘Citizen Services, Inc.’;
2) How Team Obama shared donor lists with the president’s old employer, ACORN affiliate Project Vote, a 501(c)(3) organization, which is prohibited from engaging in political activity (Mr. President, meet Anita MonCrief);
3) And how Project Vote and hundreds of myriad entities intermingled non-profit, tax-exempt funding with the national ACORN flagship’s political operations — a buried story Obama would know about if he read NYTimes reporter Stephanie Strom’s report last October before she was muzzled as Election Day drew near.”

How ’bout staying on topic and telling us why you think Barry is doing such a great job?
I mean, since that “stimulus” is working so awful well. I mean, without it, we might have an unemployment rate of 8%, whereas Barry has now managed it to keep it at a much more reasonable, 10%.
And BTW, when Bush was President, unemployment averaged 5%, do you think Barry will be able to get to that, before he gets kicked to the curb in 2012? That is, if he even runs in 2012, my money’s on Barry pulling an LBJ.

Didn’t have many footnotes. I like footnotes, lots of em with references.

No. You credit him with good intentions he does not have.
Hussein is focused on the most important thing he can do to change the relationship of citizens and the state in the US: nationalize healthcare. This will cement once and for all the primacy of the needs of the state over the needs of the citizens. This is right out of marx and alinsky (no capitals in recognition of the value of their ideas). This is all Hussein knows and thinks about.
We agree there are much more important issues to address, if your goal is to see a vibrant economy and free citizens in the US. That would be my goal. It has no place at all in Hussein’s book.
The excuses that he is “inept”, a “rookie” ,etc. all presume he has good intentions and is bumbling how to get it done.
Nobody with such intentions fails with the consistency Hussein has accomplished. Nobody makes hard statements of fact as he has and backs off with “I dunno the details” when even slightly challenged. If he had good intentions he damn well would have immersed himself in the details.
Hussein is consistent in his presentation of half-truths or outright fabrications. After enough time, there isn’t any way to explain the behavior except to throw out the idea the man’s intentions are anything except what marx or alinsky or ayers or soros will allow him to have. He cannot learn anything conflicting ideologically. The interview during the campaign, about the impact of marginal tax rates on capital gains, so clearly demonstrates his intellectual inflexibility it shoulld be on YouTube as the definitive display of cluelessness.

This is posted at Ace. This report has been out since July and no one in the progressive media has reported it. It is a damning report. The credit goes to the poster and Congressman Darrell Issa. Here’s the link to the Ace comment by Anonymous Drivel and the link to the Oversight Committee PDF report “Is ACORN Intentionally Structured As A Criminal Enterprise?”
Here’s a copy of the post by AD:
314 Some fun reading and a real treasure trove of information. Seriously, beaucoup data:
Is Acorn Intentionally Structured as a Criminal Enterprise? (links to 88-page PDF report)
July 23, 2009
Source of report – Committee on Oversight and Government Reform (landing page)
Ranking Member Darrell Issa (republicans.oversight.house.gov)
Documents contained in this report reveal ACORN’s political agenda. ACORN’s 2005-2007 Strategic Plan states that “just as important as … mobilizing existing progressive voters, ACORN and similar groups actually create new progressive voters.” In the same document, ACORN acknowledges that its “issue campaigns play the dual role … of attracting new members, and educating or politicizing existing members.” One particular issue where ACORN claims success is “fighting key elements of the national Republican program.”
In other documents, ACORN affiliates take credit for the election of former-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. In the 2006 year-end report of ACORN affiliate Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 880, efforts to elect Blagojevich and advance partisan political agendas are called “flawless.”
Labor organizations, unions, and other tax-exempt entities stretched Chicago-style political manipulation and back room schemes beyond Illinois to other state-wide and national campaign efforts. In the State of Ohio, where ACORN directors drafted a political plan contained in this report, overt partisan goals are enumerated. The ACORN Ohio Political Plan states:
ACORN will target three competitive Ohio congressional districts as well as a half dozen state rep seats nested within the districts. Our electoral work will mobilize and educate voters [and] our paid professional canvass will execute tightly managed Voter ID and GOTV canvasses moving our core constituency of base and swing voters to the polls to vote for the candidates who most closely align with a progressive Working Families Agenda.
Moreover, documents provided by former ACORN employees and contained in this report demonstrate the degree to which ACORN and ACORN affiliates organized to elect President Barack Obama in 2008.
This somewhat comprehensive report has been out since late July, as noted. It has footnotes, names, analysis, and legal excerpts as source material, much of it damning, and should have raised more than just collective silence from the Tributary Media™.
Understanding that Breitbart is focusing more on the media component than the ACORN establishment itself (since exposing ACORN and its tentacles are the vehicle to drive home an existential threat and grandest failure rampant now in our a democracy), I’m hedging my “left field” bets on an ACORN/SEIU/Blagojevich angle and the subsequent failure of Tributary Media™ to dig into the endemic corruption of Chicago politics – the city that birthed Obama the community activist-politician. ACORN ascendancy really accelerated with Blagojevich’s election and led right into another local, Obama, gaining power. State-level success beget Federal level success. Add in labor unions (SEIU), classical-Chicago thuggery and manipulation, questionable voter registration, and a disinterested if not actually protectionist press and you have the makings of a “blockbuster” story.
Maybe Breitbart will start shining extra wattage and giving heat to the Courics, Williams, and Gibsons of the sinister media. But don’t hold me to it. When you say “blockbuster hit” from “left field” these days, that covers a helluva lot of real estate.

You know, I’ll tell you. When W. was the President, I didn’t worry about much.
I bought a house, started a business, had health insurance through another employer, gobs of extra cash, my home value was 90 grand higher, I could go on.
I had said to the girl that lives with me, “If this idiot somehow gets elected, there’s a very real chance I could lose the house.”
Suddenly, I worry about a lot more now.
Lanceman on September 20, 2009 at 11:10 PM
Obama to Joe the Plumber: I personally think that when you spread the wealth around that everybody is a lot better off. I want to make sure that everyone who comes behind you has the same opportunity you had.
So, in August of last year, he advocated for wealth spreading. In September of this year, he doesn’t know how much wealth is being spread and pleads ignorance of the matter.
I think the president has really stepped into it this time. He worked for them, defended them and is a part of them. This is like being in the Army and not knowing that the Army spends money on .223 rounds. You may not know how much, but you sure know its a heap of cash. He may not know how much ACORN is getting, but its a heap of cash–and he advocated for it in Ohio. So much so that it is a key facet that is driving his policy–wealth redistribution.

He’s not worried about:
Iran (or any of those other tiny countries)
the growing tea party revolution among conservatives
Russia taking over the world
the economy (because the stimulus is working)
unemployment (because he’s created lots and lots of jobs)
ACORN
that his ever growing cadre of czars is completely corrupt
What are those other pressing issues again?
