Video: Obama WH “biggest bunch of crybabies”

posted at 1:00 pm on September 19, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

What, this White House is thin-skinned? Do tell! Chris Wallace dishes on the Obama administration’s press relations group, which he calls “the biggest bunch of crybabies” he’s seen in 30 years of reporting. Wallace compares the Obama administration very unfavorably to the Reagan media handlers, who always acted professional even after a stinging news report. Wallace says that attitude came “from the top down,” as Reagan himself approached the news media with poise and comportment. The new administration? Not so much:

Watch until the end, when Wallace zings his colleagues in the White House press corps. “I think it works with the others — it doesn’t work with me.” So who’s getting intimidated by the White House these days?

Here’s what I’d love to see, tomorrow morning, the president go on all of these shows and actually get asked some tough questions. It could happen!!! Of course the polar ice caps could melt from global warming too.

After ABC gave Obama a 2-1/2 hour infomercial, we had the letters to Congress and the town hall meetings that have put this disaster of a bill on hold. I expect the Mostly Specious Media to do the same thing they’ve been doing because any tough questions would be considered an ambush by Rahm Emanuel. If that happens, his polls will be down even further by next Friday.

If we had presidential material, in the White House, he would go on Fox News, take the tough questions and meet this problem head-on. Instead, he’s going to approach this problem like a community organizer and we’re all the worse off because of it.

By Friday, Clarence Page will have polished off an Obama’s a victime of racism column and we’ll be discussing that, instead of health care, for a month.

Romeo 13…You are so right about Bill O’Reilly.

Used to watch him religiously but no more. Loss touch with his audience long ago.

He is either dancing with the ones that did NOT bring him to the dance or just too old to be effective anymore. Either way…can’t tolerate is brand of narcissism.

Glen Beck is King.

purgatory on September 19, 2009 at 2:57 PM

For the the crybabies at the White House it seems to me that they have no problem calling up the guy at Fox like Chris Wallace, Glenn Beck, and who knows who else to tell them they are in the wrong and they need to change direction or stop with what they are saying, but they are to afraid to appear on these shows and tell it to their face. Beck and now Wallace have said the WH has called them and told them not to do something. You would think they’d go on their shows to set the record straight. They must be scared of something not to go on. hmmmmmm!

Brat4life on September 19, 2009 at 2:58 PM

A month or so back, Obama did an interview which he complained of critism of FNC saying “fox has a pretty big microphone”. I was thinking then, ‘what a crybaby’, everyone knows the WH has the biggest microphone as well as a slobbering love affair with the Liberal Left Media; he just can’t take any critism.

Oh, and, if Obama loses Cris Wallace, he loses Middle America.

TN Mom on September 19, 2009 at 3:01 PM

Undoubtedly, when Chris Wallace hears from them next they’ll be asking him, “You want some cheese to go with that whine? neener neener

EVERYTHING about Barack Hussein Obama’s administration is a disaster waiting to happen. An unmitigated speeding train wreck that hasn’t quite fully wrecked, yet. I can imagine that speeding train on every curve riding on a one-side set of wheels. It is going to fly off the tracks eventually.

When it does, we will all suffer terribly for it. They have to know that. They simply just. don’t. care.

So, in their ‘sincerity’, it’s okay for the guys at MSNBC to hint if not outright call me a Nazi, racist, religious loonie, pro-slavery, pro-rape, and everything else they hint at when they’re not using such horrid terms? It’s ‘sincere’ for them to crop a vid where a black man is carrying an M4 carbine so people think he’s white (which is an automatic reaction)?

It’s sincere, like when that CA congressman was accused of murdering an aide, that CNN put up his name with (Rep) after it, when they meant ‘Representative’ knowing full well people would think he’s Republican when Party affiliation is either (D) or (R) after the name in common convention?

That kind of ‘sincerity’ is like a person telling a spouse ‘I love you’ while cheating on him/her out the wazoo.

Liam on September 19, 2009 at 3:02 PM

The problem is all Obama has to offer is lies. And fox and it’s audience have little patience with lies. So knowing that there is nothing but lies to tell they go where they might get converts.

petunia on September 19, 2009 at 3:04 PM

Liam, I don’t think they are right, but I do think they are sincere. In other words, I do not think they are positioning themselves on the issues based on what “sells,” which is what I believe O’Reilly does. And that was the original point. You’ve taken my humble little point to quite another level.

Scary kind of sincerity, no matter the side. I see it most from the Left. As for Bill O’R, I rarely listen to him and never watch his show.

The FOX guys really need to start playing tape of these White House goons calling them up. That would be a hoot. Maybe some could accidentally leak.

Class, poise, and professionalism are all severely lacking in this WH and the State-Run Media. And O’Reilly has been veering a little left lately. He’d best go back to his old ways if he doesn’t want Beck to take over his number 1 slot.

Liam on September 19, 2009 at 3:26 PM

I watch O’reilly every day but he is really pissing me off by CONSTANTLY claiming that only 70,000 people showed up last saturday in DC. He keeps quoting some off the cuff fire department estimate. He hasn’t even done his due diligence to compare the snapshots of the crowd density from the inauguration to the tea parties last Saturday. 70,000 is far less than close to a million or more who did show up. What a tool. I think he is going soft on Obama because he wants Obama to come back on his program. Why? All he does is lie when he opens his mouth anyway so who needs to listen to Obama anymore?

This administration reminds me of immature Jr. high kids:

-Argue about everything that is contrary to what they want
-Don’t take responsibility for mistakes and make excuses
-Act outraged and righteous when legitimately criticized
-Disregard other people’s feelings
-View everything in terms of how it impacts themselves

Ideology above truth/appearance above character

kingsjester on September 19, 2009 at 3:35 PM

s it just me, or has Bill O lost his Mojo?

He constantly corrects guests with his 70K number for the protest…

He’s soft peddling on Obama… and his staff picks… dude, STAFF IS POLICY!

He constantly gives Obama the benefit of the doubt… even when time after time those doubts proove true…

It seems that Bill O is so desperate to be liked and thought of as “fair” by the Left (who are never going to like him regardless) that he often over does it. Dennis Miller has called him out on it a couple of times but in a joking way.

In my short course in journalism, only the facts matter. My professor was tough about that. Small facts could be ignored, like the color of the robbery victim’s house. Reporters today subjectively decide what are ‘small’ facts to basically enhance their template of relevance to politics. A world of difference from what I was taught.

In the old Soviet Union, everything was related to politics. That’s how it seems here among the MSM. So much for genuine concise journalism.

Exactly. Subjectivity has taken the place of objectivity. It’s gotten so bad that it’s difficult to tell the commentators from the reporters. That’s why Fox News is doubling every other channel’s ratings. They at least make an attempt to be “fair and balanced”.

kingsjester on September 19, 2009 at 3:48 PM

To date, Chris Wallace placates liberals during interviews, and drove me crazy during the campaign and inauguration with Axelrod running the FOX interviews Wallace was supposed to be directing. With Wallace, Democrats typically getting 85% of debate time with only 15% given Republicans during the course of a segment as Democrats are allowed to interject and interrupt and hijack answer time to questions directed at Republicans, and Democrats getting the last word as well. So now he finally found the guts to complain about what a drag it is playing nursemaid to that biggest bunch of Democrat crybabies. High time…better late than never.

maverick muse on September 19, 2009 at 3:48 PM

Our media no longer does its job. It refuses to play hardball with this President, and that is dangerous for or Republic.

We need to import a British tradition, in which the opposition is given an opportunity to question the Prime Minister, and is it harsh! I’ve been watching videos of their “Ask Prime Minister” time, and it is brutal, raucous, and often hilarious.

Couple of videos to watch how it’s done here and one that is particularly funny and appropos to our Pres is here.

It would be like a Congressional town hall, complete with jeers, outbursts, boos, laughs, and insults!

Don’t expect this to be a declaration of “no more Mr. Nice Guy” from Wallace. He’s too devout a nice guy to be snide. Wallace just earned a claim to fame in my book, drawing the line in the sand.

The only number BOR is concerned about are book sale counts. I remember when his last book came out, he started his show with a rant that the NYT had incorrectly stated that he was #2 on their list rather than #1. He then said that his publisher was looking into the matter and he would get back to us “because he’s looking out for you”. How big does your ego have to be to think that anybody in the world would be interested in that! Yea, that’s the figure that needs to be accurately reported. What an idiot.

Aw, thanks, but did you watch the videos? It’s wonderful, how the Brits’ Parliament fights with spirit. Ours is a snoozefest compared to theirs. I think it’s an excellent tradition, which puts the PM in the hot seat. I was cracking up at how they were yelling and shouting at each other. Reminds me of how our Continental Congress used to be. None of that nanny state, “BE NICE” garbage.

I remember reading about what some French female politician complained of how British pols are so “cold” and “sexless”, and that in her travels there, she had never been sexually propositioned by a Brit, as she is by Frenchmen, Spaniards, etc…

The British Parliament responded by passing a House Resolution that “British men don’t fancy middle aged French women”. ROFL!

Obama is a typical Marxist, he is arrogant though undeservingly as he is not that talented (oh, he can kind of read a speech when the teleprompter works) but cannot handle criticism. that is why most despots/marxists/fascists get rid of opposing points of view. If Obama could, he would.

immigrantchick on September 19, 2009 at 5:25 PM

Why would he be scared of Chris Wallace? He’s already appeared on Fox News Sunday when he was candidate Obama. It’s Fox News track record that’s the problem. They often don’t know how to seperate commentary from actual news. Example, Fox and Friends is supposed to be a “news” program, but these guys’ offer the news, and spice it up with their personal opinion, which is almost always anti-Obama…Chris Wallace even called them out for that same reason. This is the network that has been forced to make several retractions, and coincidentally none of them have been inaccuracies involving conservatives. I think the issue is simply the lack of journalistic integrity at that particular network. Chris Wallace is just caught in the middle. You can’t have 3 or 4 shows that play during the day, that come at Obama’s head, and then expect him to give you an interview, lol. Treat him fairly and there won’t be an issue. If you need examples of Fox News hatred towards President Obama or the Dems let me know, I’ll be happy to provide at least a dozen different incidents.

Wait a minute…you say, “Is that all you got” as if I attacked you personally when I simply spoke of Fox’s integrity. That’s weird. It’s just a network owned by an Australian. It’s okay for them to be wrong. They were wrong yesterday (see link) and they’ve been proved wrong many times before. It seems as if O’Reilly and Wallace are the ones crying. I don’t understand it. You don’t like Obama, and say he’s ‘overexposed’, but complain, because he won’t show up on your network. Which one is it? Fox wants it’s cake and eat it to. So far, many have refused to make all of Obama’s sealed records an issue. I am really beginning to believe Obama won’t release his records is because there is something VERY FISHY about his background.

Second, Obama did attend a madrassa. The filthy liar’s background is a mystery moron. You can no more claim that the bastard was raised as he claims as opponents can claim he was raised a Muslim. And I’m not willing to take the bastard’s word for his upbringing after all the lies he has told since taking office.

Highhopes, read the link I posted above. It will turn you green with worry.

I want to believe that this man, Barack Obama believes in America. I want to believe that he wants this Country to succeed and not fail. I want to believe that he stands with the American People. I want to believe that he will support our troops. I want to believe that he supports the Constitution. I want to believe that he will support our life-long allies. I want to believe that he is a good man who has our best interests in the forefront of his mind. I want to believe that he is just a regular Joe. I want to believe that he’s proud of our Country. I want. To believe.

But, based on his actions, I can’t.

Key West Reader on September 19, 2009 at 6:22 PM

Thin skinned? Nah…that was a “nice” way for Chris Wallace to let the public know they are communist control freaks.

njpat on September 19, 2009 at 6:23 PM

Someone has to attack Obama. He’s getting a free lovefest from the rest of the drive bys. WTF? You think the Prez should be immune from criticism? Move to freaking North Korea, then, you moron. You don’t belong in a free republic.

atheling on September 19, 2009 at 6:12 PM

“Moron”… stop, the ‘Toby Keith, boot up your a$$’ side of you is showing, lol. I don’t want to move. I like America, I was born here and this is all I know. Now, where in God’s name did you get that silly idea that I think the President’s ideas and policies should go unchallenged? I understand that may be the ‘talking points’ Fox is feeding you, but it’s simply not true. The President gets criticism, but Fox’s definition of ‘criticism’ is weird, because they’d just rather flat-out lie. Fox viewers have this odd paranoia that makes me laugh. Fox tells you to stay with them, or the big bad liberal media will poison you with “Obama lies”! bwahahahahaha! It’s such a brilliant marketing scheme that it sells itself. Anyone will stick with a particular product if they assume similiar products are defective. Whatever ‘works’ for you. Dang it! got off topic.

StoneKrab on September 19, 2009 at 6:23 PM

Once again SK, what did FoxNews LIE about regarding OBAMA HIMSELF? Specifics please.

Bill downplays the numbers at the DC Tea Party because many are fans of Beck more than O’Reilly.

And, BOR knows that when Beck is moved to the 7:00pm slot, he will pass up BOR.

And BOR’s monstrously sensitive ego will be on display.

Here you go…this is pretty much a timeline of what happened. Fox and Friends also issued a correction, but they “removed” the video from youtube. I don’t know how much clearer I can make my point. In the words of Joe Wilson, “YOU LIE”…fox.

Yep. What a little man BOR truly is.

Geochelone on September 19, 2009 at 6:51 PM

BOR revealed to Beck last night that the WH had called him repeatedly to tell BOR to lay off talking about Bill Ayers, because after all, he was just a guy in the neighborhood.

BOR went on to say that he thought that was a fair request and he “would give them that.”

Did BOR ever “call out” the Liar in the WH, or even know about the fact that Bill Ayers appointed Obama to be Chairman of the Board of the Annenberg Foundation Challenge, and that for eight years Obama and Ayers worked together to distribute 100 million dollars donated to the Annenberg challenge by wealthy lefties for radical leftist educational propaganda?

How many of us have had this kind of arrangement with people who are “just someone we know from the neighborhood?”

McCain totally dropped the ball on this during the campaign, he could have wiped the floor with Obama’s lies about hardly knowing Ayers. O’Reilly is just as out of touch, and hearing this last night made me realize that O’Reilly can’t do us much more good; in fact he is starting to do harm by not reporting or even knowing the story.

The filthy liar’s background is a mystery moron. You can no more claim that the bastard was raised as he claims as opponents can claim he was raised a Muslim.

What?! Let me attempt to decifer that comment. I don’t know what’s such a mystery. Born in a Hawaii, spent some time overseas, moved to Chicago, went to Harvard, did community organizing, was on a board with Bill Aires, became a Senator, went to a church with a nutty pastor, became President. Where’s the mystery? Oh he has a dog named Bo, and three dependents. Calm down dude.

And I’m not willing to take the bastard’s word for his upbringing after all the lies he has told since taking office.

Good for you. Facts are facts though. Wasn’t this about Fox crying about Obama not giving them an interview?

BOR was so smitten by the Huss the last time he looked into those big lying eyes..

macncheez on September 19, 2009 at 6:55 PM

Obama received a muslim education in Indonesia. He was raised by a muslim there. Whether or not it was a madrassa is immaterial. The most important thing to ME, is the fact that this man was NOT RAISED like a normal American. He has NO EARTHLY idea how regular Americans think, feel, and react to normal life. He spent his formative years outside of this country, being educated in the native schools where he was located. He didn’t come back here until well into his teenage years. And then his adult influences were all the radicals from the 60′s. He went to college in the elite ivy league schools. He has NEVER been around regular Americans on a day to day exposure level. He is clueless.

This is why I think he is a very ineffective leader. He doesn’t understand US, therefore he is reacting in a very clumsy way, to his ineffective leadership.

Whether or not his MUSLIM education as a youth was a Madrassa school is immaterial. His entire education has been “off” compared to other US Presidents.

We have an empty suit in this office who is very thin skinned and completely out of his depth.

karenhasfreedom on September 19, 2009 at 6:57 PM

BOR is running scared from Beck’s increasing ratings, and is afraid Beck is going to overtake him; hence his belittling of Beck of late; also, he is becoming increasingly narcissistic and ego focused. I like his show so much better when Laura Ingraham guest hosts. In fact, I wish she guest hosted more than BOR was on the air. BOR is slumming for an Obama interview and must have been royally pissed at Wallace spouting off about the pettiness of the WH on BOR’s show. That interview isn’t ever going to happen.
By the way, good on CW and I will watch his show tomorrow. I believe he has the more interesting interview with the head of ACORN than the endless repetition of Obama in front of a fawning media.

Too bad Chris Wallace didn’t take over for Tim Russert. He would have done awesome.

In a way he did. Just on a more respectable network.
