Video: Obama WH “biggest bunch of crybabies”
posted at 1:00 pm on September 19, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
What, this White House is thin-skinned? Do tell! Chris Wallace dishes on the Obama administration’s press relations group, which he calls “the biggest bunch of crybabies” he’s seen in 30 years of reporting. Wallace compares the Obama administration very unfavorably to the Reagan media handlers, who always acted professional even after a stinging news report. Wallace says that attitude came “from the top down,” as Reagan himself approached the news media with poise and comportment. The new administration? Not so much:
Watch until the end, when Wallace zings his colleagues in the White House press corps. “I think it works with the others — it doesn’t work with me.” So who’s getting intimidated by the White House these days?

Clearly we need a Press Corps Czar.

Is it just me, or has Bill O lost his Mojo?
He constantly corrects guests with his 70K number for the protest…
He’s soft peddling on Obama… and his staff picks… dude, STAFF IS POLICY!
He constantly gives Obama the benefit of the doubt… even when time after time those doubts proove true…
Did he loose it when he lost his Radio gig? He’s been having a LOT of guest hosts on of late… many more than he used to.

1) Get in their face

I’m pretty new to O’Reilly, but I have noticed that he doesn’t seem to be much of a hardhitter. It comes in dribs and drabs, maybe, at best.
misslizzi on September 19, 2009 at 1:10 PM
He obviously didn’t get the memo about how all journalists are suppossed to be part of the Obama Fan Club now, just submit your entry fee and application to Chris Matthews and all will be right in the world.

When BOR doesn’t get his big Obama interview, will he go after the White House? Or will he retire?
d1carter on September 19, 2009 at 1:11 PM
And a couple seconds later in that same interview, Wallace made remarks about the D.C. protest last Saturday. And of course BOR still had to throw the “there were only 70,000 people there” comment.
BOR is slowly being boxed in the corner by Beck and is running scared.

Wallace is fine with Obama not coming on Fox News Sunday, really. The show is better off. He just can’t stop talking about it…
Honestly, Obama only has something to gain by going on FNS. That’s the audience he needs to convince Stupid move on his part.

Obama was created by an adoring media, so of course they are going to do as he says.
SouthernGent on September 19, 2009 at 1:17 PM
I’m a long-term O’Reilly watcher and have to agree he is soft on Obama. Twice last night he credited Fox News and talk radio with breaking news stories, conveniently omitting the Internet. Plus, he failed to challenge Sally Quinn from the Washington Post when she made outlandish statements of fact regarding last week’s DC protest. You could tell Bill was more interested in making his point and talking over her rather than listening to what she said and following up on her statements.
PatMac on September 19, 2009 at 1:19 PM
I believe this. All you have to do is listen to their constant whining about everything and you know they are a bunch of wusses, whiners and cry babies.

And isn’t forcing a black man to have to live in a WHITE House the most essential root of racism!?
It needs to be CHANGEd to the Rainbow House!

(And since Obama gives off a kind of gay vibe, there’s some inherent homophobia going on, as well!)

Chris Wallace is actually a journalist.
There aren’t many left.
notagool on September 19, 2009 at 1:31 PM
Every time i see Chris Wallace, i am reminded of his dad and how liberal his dad is – its an interesting dynamic to have a father/son have strongly distinct political views. (One of Reagan’s younger sons is very much a liberal while the elder is a known conservative)
I am curious how Mike Wallace feels about this – we know he is a liberal and would have most certainly supported Obama – but how does he see the relationship with the MSM that wants to lick Obama’s butt at every possible opportunity and the WH?
Obama’s WH = Whiner House
nagee76 on September 19, 2009 at 1:31 PM
And Chris Wallace is surprised Obama isn’t going to appear on FOX tomorrow in his six-network blitz repeating the same tired Obamacare blather? Obama will NEVER show up and chat with Chris, he doesn’t kiss enough White House ass.
That’s a good thing, btw.
bradley11 on September 19, 2009 at 1:33 PM
To ba fair, this Obama snub of fox may have nothing to do with Chris Wallace. It may simply be Obama pouting over Fox TV not showing his Obamacare infomercial from the halls of congress last week.
Freddy on September 19, 2009 at 1:35 PM
nagee, What do you mean when you say “Wallace’s dad would have most certainly supported Obama”? Is Mike Wallace dead? I thought he was still around, maybe 91 years old, but still alive. If that’s the case, he DID vote for Obama something tells me.
bradley11 on September 19, 2009 at 1:35 PM
Man! I miss Reagan. The BEST!

Hey for the first time in Barack Obama’s life he is being critically challenged and having his feet held to the fire by people who are judging him not by the colour of his skin but rather by the content of his character and the strength of is ideas and his leadership and he doesnt like it.

All of America has been told to sit in the back of the bus now. The Marxists are up front and the bus is on it’s way to the camps. And it isn’t the Marxists who are planning to get off.
Remember this, though, from the “rules.”
“Power is not only what you have, but what an opponent thinks you have.”
If they had the power,, we’d already be in the camps. They don’t have that power,, yet. And James and Hannah have shown that David’s can still bring down Goliaths.

I can hear those “tough” questions Obama will have to answer.
ABC: Mr. President, now that you’ve turned the economy around and we’re out of the recession, please tell us how you plan to rebuild health insurance with the same perfection.
CBS: President Obama, You’ve been embarrassed with the praise you so richly deserve for your running of America to date, with those nasty inbred anti-ObamaCare providing treasonous dissent, how will your omnipotent one defeat these loathesome, racist, scum.
NBC: Our Lord Most High Obama, we’re not worthy to lay eyes on you let alone ask you anything. Please let us just sit here quietly and listen to your glorious word, looking at the crease in your pants, while our leg quivers.

Not surprising at all. And it is my belief that O’Reilly has not been the same since the “loufa” incident.
coyoterex on September 19, 2009 at 2:05 PM
OT O’Reilly admits he wasn’t there, but then pulls some arbitrary number out of a choice of many others which are much higher. I was there on 9-12, and I have been to a few Detroit NBA/NHL championship parades (?). The crowds would be estimated at 500,000 back then, and I believe that was about the size I saw on 9-12. 70,000 is riduculous.
O’Reilly hasn’t been the same since he grovelled for an interview with BO and got it.
DrStock on September 19, 2009 at 2:05 PM
Chris Wallace is not a conservative, but he does try to be a genuinely fair and balanced journalist. I am sure Chris Wallace loves his Dad, but Chris is by far the better journalist.
I welcome seeing Chris Wallace’s comment about the Obama White House because it is true and Chris Wallace should be viewed as a very credible source.

I don’t know if he’s “lost” it. I’m a relatively new viewer (I actually lived without a TV from 8/2000 to 6/2009) but I think that maybe O’Reilly’s got a pretty good formulation. He gives liberals the benefit of the doubt on certain debates like global warming, but allows his guests to express the stronger, more conservative arguments that he may or may not believe in. His ratings seem to back up the success of this strategy. The fact that he periodically infuriates real conservatives probably increases his credibility with the clueless people who think of themselves as “moderate”.
joe_doufu on September 19, 2009 at 2:26 PM
He also has great guests. I like watching Bernard Goldberg give commentary on his show.
terryannonline on September 19, 2009 at 2:30 PM
There’s the thing:
You have to expect to be criticized. Especially in the White House. People will always second guess the crap out of what you do and how you do it. It happens at my job and all I do is shrug and walk away.
It comes with having a grown up job and responsibilities. And it appears that the people in the White House are fully incapable of handling criticism with maturity and responsibility.
P.S. Love Chris Wallace calling them crybabies. Well done.

The press is always bragging about how young Obama’s staff is. I think this might be an area where having a young staff is not working for him.
Also, I think they got accustomed of the press praising Obama during the campaign and thought it would continue through his administration, which is naive.

When the race card fails, the pity pot is the next bastion of liberal defense. That won’t work, either; Americans hate whiners, quitters, and losers.
The Left has a program, and anything outside it is open to any tactic the Left needs to crush it. Look at Media Matters, and their purposeful editing of a video. If facts don’t fit the program, they must be discarded to sustain points the Left wants to push.
However, Obama threw them under the bus yesterday by declaring opposition to his policies isn’t necessarily racist. Yes, he left open the door for charges against us to continue, but he closed that door part way. The Left is now forced to more or less prove racial bias, which it can do with less impunity now. It comes down to tactics; reason and truth are blocks to liberals they must deny rather than refute, so we can’t make headway using them. Now, though, we have new cards to play and really need to with all ferver.
The Left’s ‘victim card’ is still strong, but now an MSM journalist has called those people crybabies. Another card for us to play in counter, if we have the will.
Liam on September 19, 2009 at 2:47 PM
This is what annoys me about O’Reilly. His show is an artificial “formulation.” He’s a self-absorbed poseur, positioning himself on issues based on how it will make him look, rather than based on any coherent world view.
entropent on September 19, 2009 at 2:49 PM
I wonder if there isn’t also the not to be spoken of special handling Obama requires. I would say Obama won’t go on Fox News because he knows he can’t even ask for any considerations – they would not only refuse at Fox, they would make these requests public. Fox can only benefit from an Obama interview and Obama is most likely to come out looking worse than he already does. The only place we’ll see Obama interviewed on Fox is on O’Reilly – and if he doesn’t toughen up, that will be at 2AM.
Me too! But I see more and more signs of it everyday in the people I meet as I campaign for a Republican candidate for the open US Senate seat in MA. People here are furious over the MS state legislators selling us out to Obama and his lapdog, Deval Patrick. The overwhelming sentiment here is “Capitol Hill doesn’t own us anymore than Beacon Hill does. They owe us!” I think Obama really has brought change – just not what he envisioned. If it can happen in MA, it can happen anywhere.
P.S. Shameless plug – Look up State Senator Scott Brown in MA – he is running for our open US Senate seat and he could use support from everywhere. If the WH was confident they have their votes, they wouldn’t be pushing so hard for the appointment flip flop.
