Quotes of the day

“Maureen Dowd of the New York Times hears Rep. Joe Wilson shout, ‘You lie!’ And her instinctive response is: ‘Fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie, boy!’

It’s the ‘fair or not’ that gives Dowd away. She admits to hearing racism whether or not it’s warranted. That’s called prejudice. And unlike Wilson’s foolish outburst, Dowd’s was carefully considered. Dowd, Carter and Sharpton can’t grasp that conservatives are less hung up on race than they are and that we can get past Obama’s skin color. ‘Some people just can’t believe a black man is president and will never accept it,’ writes Dowd. She’s right. She’s one of them.”

“Barack Obama leads a government of the highly educated. His movement includes urban politicians, academics, Hollywood donors and information-age professionals. In his first few months, he has fused federal power with Wall Street, the auto industry, the health care industries and the energy sector.

Given all of this, it was guaranteed that he would spark a populist backlash, regardless of his skin color. And it was guaranteed that this backlash would be ill mannered, conspiratorial and over the top — since these movements always are, whether they were led by Huey Long, Father Coughlin or anybody else.

What we’re seeing is the latest iteration of that populist tendency and the militant progressive reaction to it. We now have a populist news media that exaggerates the importance of the Van Jones and Acorn stories to prove the elites are decadent and un-American, and we have a progressive news media that exaggerates stories like the Joe Wilson shout and the opposition to the Obama schools speech to show that small-town folks are dumb wackos…

It’s not race. It’s another type of conflict, equally deep and old.”

I love when Rush does those clips showing the echo chamber. It’s no wonder we have to rely on two kids to do reporting, the journalist today just “report” what the DNC emails them daily. And they aren’t even smart enough to use different words.

LOL…very true. It’s like they recorded it once and those doing news and comentary are doing lip sync.

White, black, brown or purple – he lied – at least twice. His example of bad insurance companies – Otto Raddatz didn’t die because his insurance was cancelled.

By calling them “journalists”, you’ve unintentionally given them a promotion.

I see them more as in the fictional stereotype of the secretary taking dictation from the boss while sitting on his lap.

And the thought of each of them taking notes in the morning while sitting on, say, Robert Gibbs’ lap somehow amuses me.

Rush calls them stenographers, which is a very apt description.

post racial……. nos that’s a joke

He has set the black movement back 40 years. It is being said by blacks themselves. A lot of folks and a lot of sites consider it taboo to talk about it unless your black. I totally disagree with that. I grew up as a teenager in the 60′s and I have a right to talk about it. I know what segregation is, what desegregation is, what busing is, what affirmative action is, what hiring quotos are, what welfare was, what burning the cities means, what beating innocent blacks mean. I don’t need some pansy teenager from daily koos to rest his arms from carrying a sign in a march to take a break and come here or anywhere and tell me a veteran of the military what the hell to do and say.

“Fused”

Right. The word is takeover.

I was absolutely mortified. I never in my life thought I’d see Democrats trashing pocketbook Democratic voters in that way.

And they did it without even batting an eye.

AnninCA on September 19, 2009 at 2:15 AM

You were surprised by this? It’s been evident for quite a while that the Democrats and other lefties are quite willing to trash any of those smelly peasants who have the gall to talk back to their superiors.

Check out the hot air headlines (Cris Wallace: Biggest Bunch of crybabies I’ve seen in 30 years @youtube).

Wow. Cris Wallace tells it like it is!! Obama chose to do 5 sunday “news” shows but won’t appear with cris wallace. Looks like he is afraid to answer the tough questions.

I will be watching Fox News Sunday, this Sunday, and EVERY Sunday!!!

“Are there people out there who don’t like me because of race? I’m sure there are,” Obama told CNN. “That’s not the overriding issue here.”

YEAH, RIGHT!!
What a jerk!

If they think that Joe Wilson lowered the house of repby telling the truth, what has obama done to the presidency!

“I think there are people who are anti-government [nostril laugh].”

Worse than racism? Governmentism!

Akzed on September 19, 2009 at 11:20 AM

Moon Griffon does a talk show here in Louisiana, he calls them repeaters, not reporters. They take whatever information the government gives them and repeat it everwhere.

la.rt.wngr on September 19, 2009 at 12:21 PM

When is the media, and ACORN, going to come out with their version of “O’Keefe/Giles” to show the Klu Klux Klan being videoed and interviewed in West Virginia?

Cybergeezer on September 19, 2009 at 1:31 PM

Maybe the 8% in New Jersey was right!

bluegrass on September 19, 2009 at 1:42 PM

tens of thousands

Putting aside the rest of Brooks’s stupid, ill-informed and pretentious commentary, he picks up the protest-head-count-talking-point parroted by virtually every MSM news outlet in the country.

I wonder what benefit they left thinks they are getting out of referring to something over one million protesters as “tens of thousands”? No person with a functioning brain thinks that crowd was under 200,000, not even this nitwit.
