New secret weapon in selling ObamaCare: Michelle Obama

Why not? The One’s out of ammo and the Democrats’ hyper-negative racial campaigning has failed epically. Might as well hand the ball off to Mrs. O and see if she can “mom” America into supporting this craptastic boondoggle. Imagine the media coverage. Three tips to raising a healthy child: Plenty of exercise, lots of vegetables, and blowing a trillion dollars on a universal health care plan that’ll still be bleeding red ink when the Obama girls are grandmothers.

The bad news: This means lots, lots more stories on how to get toned arms. The good news: There’s a fair chance of a “I won’t be proud of my country unless we pass ObamaCare” moment, which means rich, tasty right-wing blog content for weeks on end.

For the health care reform push, which got something of a reboot last week with President Barack Obama’s address to Congress, the aim is for the first lady’s imprimatur to put a friendly face and a noncontroversial spin on a complex, highly partisan issue.

She won’t get into the weeds on health care, pushing specific details or plans as Clinton did. Instead, she’ll make the soft, soccer-mom sell, highlighting the need to eat healthy, exercise and get preventive care. On Friday, Michelle Obama will appear at an event where women and families will talk about the health care system, and she will deliver remarks that will “amplify the president’s message on the need for health insurance reform,” according to the White House…

“Women are the swing voters on health care, and they are the people who pay most attention to health care for their families,” said Richard Kirsch, national campaign manager for Health Care for America Now, a coalition of community, labor and health care provider groups. “Having Michelle Obama as a spokesperson on health care makes a tremendous difference in terms of having women understand what the president’s plan will mean for families. It takes it from the policy to the personal.”

Consider yourselves lucky. Given the left’s penchant for using kids to push their policies, if M.O. fails it’s only a matter of time before Democratic spin doctors unleash an army of precious moppets to drop an atomic guilt bomb. Remember the scene in “Wag the Dog” with the girl and the calico kitten? Dude, it’s coming.

I have a feeling that she is going to be serving a great deal of red meat for us starving conservatives to chew on, while BHO has only been trying to force crap sandwiches down our throats. Thanking you in advance, Michelle.

Disbarred as a lawyer and making 300 grand for patient dumping. What a blessing for healthcare.

Why doesn’t she refer to Amish? Over a million Amish and Old Order mennonites do not have insurance. They use hospitals and pay their bills. Actually they will ask to be excluded from her “Insurance” reform

What the Mennonites save on cell phones, crack, malt liquor, dreadlock procedures Spinning wheels on cadalacs is more than enough to save up for emergencies.

They probably close the door at night, do a fist bump and say, “Americans are fools and suckers”.

marklmail on September 18, 2009 at 8:45 AM

I said exactly this to my sister after the inauguration, and she told me to give them a chance…..HA! Talk about your fools and suckers!

anniekc on September 18, 2009 at 9:20 AM

Hard to imagine just who Michelle intends to influence. The people she actually could influence are already in the tank. Unless and until some really practical and far sighted health care tenets come down the pike, most people already know where they stand at present and that’s not likely to change. Now if she were trying to sell health care to Europe, it might be a different thing…LOL!

Oh, it gets funnier and funnier.

I cannot wait until your boss Michelle teams with Glenn to tie the whole Barak and Michelle Obama with ACORN and Americorp scam. Maybe they can bring them ALL down.

Yea, bring on Michelle. There is a whole lot of dirt that has’t even started to come out on her. This will be fun to watch.

patriotparty1 on September 18, 2009 at 9:36 AM

No one respects Michelle. No matter how hard the lefty media tries, she’s no Jackie Kennedy, pill box hats aren’t in and this isn’t 1960.

That’s just stupid. I wonder what the cost of that little outing was. And where is the video? This administration is tone deaf.

Michelle Obama–a weapon? I thought Obumbles was against weapons.

Not to beat a dead horse, Ed (because I’m hoping this horse isn’t dead), but now will you consider ridding your blogroll of that stinking cesspool LGF? Something profoundly nasty is going on over there. Charles and his flying monkeys have truly gone into the abyss.

Cicero43 on September 18, 2009 at 10:12 AM

Thanks Ed for cleaning up the crap that Mr. Fish left here last night. What a cowardly act to attack HA at that time of night. Something must be done with the source of this problem. This was just not right.

When his mother finds out he is on the computer at this hour she will take away the Barney doll he sleeps with.

Elizabetty on September 18, 2009 at 1:38 AM

Would that be a Barney Frank doll?

I suspect the only racists at Hotair are trolls from LGF trying to start something.

Not a big fan of his works though.

Breaking news! Michelle Obama shops at Farmers Market, cheers vegetables!

Glad she’s eating healthy, but that picture on Drudge looks like she needs to let those pants out a bit. :o)

Am I the only one who thinks that’s funny?

DaveC on September 18, 2009 at 11:17 AM

Take a look at this article to see how the Obama’s are concerned for our welfare and money:

My initial evaluation of these people has not been disproved yet.

First, you’ve got to have a friendly face and be noncontroversial. Fail.

she’ll make the soft, soccer-mom sell

Apparently they don’t know soccer moms the way I know soccer moms. But sure, go for the Sarah Palin-style sell.

Seriously though, what’s with playing to sexist stereotypes?

Yeesh! I’m not sure I have the energy to endure Meechelle’s bogus crap. It’s bad enough we have to listen to Obama’s on a daily basis.

I’d love to be at a town hall with her though, and ask her….what will be the requirements for not being a drive by under this crap plan.

Remember her creative idea to dump patients to the ghetto hospitals?

[...]

Mrs. Obama first hatched the UCMC program as the “South Side Health Collaborative,” which featured a gang of “counselors” whose job it was to “advise” low-income patients that they would be better off at other hospitals and clinics. The program was so successful in getting rid of unwanted patients that she expanded it, gave it a new name, and hired none other than David Axelrod to sell the program to the public. According to the Sun-Times, “Obama’s wife and Valerie Jarrett, an Obama friend and adviser who chairs the medical center’s board, backed the Axelrod firm’s hiring.” Axelrod helped the future First Lady formulate a public relations campaign in which the “Urban Health Initiative” was represented as a boon to the community actuated by the purest of altruistic motives.

In one of the few frank passages of the Post article, we discover that many members of UCMC’s medical staff believe the program is nothing more than an “attempt to ensure that the hospital retains only affluent patients with insurance.” And another association of emergency physicians has joined ACEP in denouncing the Urban Health Initiative. The Chicago Tribune reports that Dr. Larry Weiss, president of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine is unhappy about UCMC’s failure to consult its own ER physicians before initiating the program: “Not including emergency-room physicians … would be analogous to changing the way surgery is performed in an operating room without involving any surgeons.” Dr. Whitaker assures us, however, that such critics are merely “opposed to change.”

http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/03/michelle_obamas_patientdumping_1.html

I was angry at the time but now I’m totally outraged that she’s going around trying to sell us a bill of goods like she’s some sort of gentle and kind moral woman. She/they make me sick to my stomach.

Sounds like another ACORN scheme hatched by soulless snobs. How could anyone even contemplate such a horrendous plot against human beings?!!!!

The Internment of the Japanese and German Americans was based solely on suspicion and great injustice was done. But the stakes were great and what was done was done on a worse case appraisal of the scenario.

Holger on September 18, 2009 at 2:27 AM

No, it was done solely on the basis of racism. Unlike the case of German Americans, the entire population of Japanese-Americans was removed from the West Coast. In the case of both German and Italian Americans, it was done on the basis of FBI investigation, and so only those who had expressed Fascist sympathies, along with their (sometimes citizen) children and families, were removed.

I know this because my maternal grandfather was from Sicily; all five Cardone sons joined the Army and fought in Europe (including Italy). Apparently, nobody questioned their patriotism as the patriotism of both Sadao Munemori and his family, and the patriotism of Nobutero Harry Sumida (a Navy veteran and Purple Heart recipient in the Spanish-American War) were questioned. I guess I’m happy about the thought that my grandmother was a Blue Star Mother without barbed wire around her house, but then there’s the other thoughts about Sadao’s mother, who became a Gold Star Mother in the camps.

California was at the forefront of this racist circus — Democratic politicians there (including Earl Warren) wanted the entire state cleared of people of Japanese ancestry, while the states of Oregon and Washington requested that those citizens in the interior half of their state not be cleared. General John “a Jap is a Jap” DeWitt (whose racism was evident in nearly every comment relating to the evacuation) ordered that all three states be cleared to their eastern borders.

It is a stain on our courts that they permitted this type of Executive Order by an obviously racist party to go unchallenged, but then most of the racist policies of the Democrats went unchallenged all the way into the mid 1960’s.

It took the Republicans, led by President Ronald Reagan, to finally apologize to our individual citizens of Japanese ancestry who were deprived of liberty, and to make a small restitution for their travails. If you ever pass by Manzanar on the way to Mammoth or June Lake, you can see Reagan’s letter of apology carefully preserved.
