Video: Michelle on the media’s ACORN “protection racket”
posted at 10:24 pm on September 16, 2009 by Allahpundit
From the woman who wrote the book on The One’s culture of corruption, five minutes on just how deep the shadiness at ACORN runs. There’s a fun fact about the San Diego office’s relationship with illegal aliens buried in here but I won’t spoil the surprise. Send this to Boehner et al. when you e-mail them to demand a floor vote ASAP on defunding this syndicate.
She’s number two on the New York Times bestseller list this week, behind … oh, I can’t bear to say it.

Michelle, when will you publish an organizational chart of this culture of corruption? Where on the web could we go to see all the faces and the involvement of each of the crooks?
You can add faces and information as it all unfolds! I want to see it! Make it happen!

Michelle, Ed and AP are honorable people. Charles? Apparently not so. If anybody does anything to harm AP, I will be so furious I might even leave my hermitage to deal with them. MM, Ed and AP are off limits, Charles!

I find it very troubling that ABC’s Charlie Gibson’s crack news team failed to see ALL the anti-ACORN posters at the town halls and the 9/12 Rally in DC.
“Filter” news sucks!

Don’t worry. He’s done this kind of thing before. O’Keefe’s on the conserv/libertarian side.
The link is to 2008, when he called up Planned Parenthood offering to donate, but only if the money would go to kill black kids.

Damage control is soooooo much easier when you own Congress, the bureaucratic organs of the state and can hide behind race.

Why is this date/time stamp on the video 2005.08.15 at 20:45:xx?
That would indicate the video was recorded a full four years ago. Plus, I live in San Diego and have for nearly 30 years. The sun is way too high in the sky to be almost 9:00pm in mid-August.
The time stamp could simply be due to a time difference in relationship to the time differences in the O’Keefe’s travels from one side of the country to the other and isn’t really significant, but it should be accurate if this this guy O’Keefe is a professional and has decided to leave the time/date stamp imprint on his released videos as a ‘record’ of date and time recorded… but four years difference in the date?
If this was recorded a full four years ago, I don’t really understand why it is being released now. But given the verbal introductions on a couple of the video’s, O’Keefe claims that August 2009 is when the video’s were recorded.
I am somewhat vexed by this inaccuracy, on more than one video release, but I don’t clearly understand why just yet.
In the Baltimore video’s, the first in a running series of video’s apparently, O’Keefe does not verbally state the date/time and there is no date/time stamp on the video’s.
The second of the series, the New York video’s, are not time stamped in the publically released video’s but he verbally claims in the intro that the video was recorded in August 2009.
In the third of the series, the San Bernadino (sic) video’s, they are not date/time stamped in the publically released video’s but he verbally claims in the intro that the video was also recorded in August 2009. But when Fox News posts the full, unedited video’s of the sting on ACORN San Bernardino, they are time/date stamped with a date stamp indicating August 2005 while O’Keefe verbally claims August 2009.
Now, in the teaser for the fourth of the series, in San Diego, the video is date stamped August 2005.
One could infer from the previous verbal claims that these video’s were all done in 2009, but all of them with date stamps indicate 2005.
That’s an amateurish oversight on behalf of O’Keefe, who does not appear to be an amateur, to verbally claim dates in August 2009 while all the video’s with date stamps so far have date stamps of August 2005, and he chooses to display those date stamps on his releases. It doesn’t make sense.
It may mean something, or it may not. I don’t know. But why even bother with recording time and date stamps on the video’s if not to be some kind of purported ‘record’ of when the recordings were made when there is an easy option on all modern camera’s to not even record a time/date stamp with the video, if you prefer no date/time stamp? Why bother leaving the time/date stamp there in full view on the publically released video’s if they’re supposedly created in 2009 and they’re date stamped 2005? That’s not even close to accurate.
Honestly, I don’t know if that means anything significant at all, but it is definitely inconsistent and very amateur considering the credentials of O’Keefe… and I really want to see these video’s stick and be the centerpiece of the prosecution of, and ending of, the long time corrupt and illegal racket known as ACORN.
Perhaps that is why I am so vexed by this.

Same here. When he was busting Hamas and Fatah for photoshopping, it was a great blog. When he was showing Rather to be a schmuck by his lack of principles, it was a great blog. Heck, he used to base things he said on facts.
About the time he started bashing Christians, Spencer, and Geller, I stopped reading. Now on rare times when I go back it looks more like HuffPo or DUnderground comments. I haven’t left a comment on LGF in ages, and don’t plan on returning.
He’s turned into a very smug, self-righteous fool, and he’s worse off for it.
CPL 310 on September 17, 2009 at 12:02 AM
O’Keefe explained this at one point – I think over on BigGovt. The camera resets itself when it turns off or batteries are removed or something.
If it were 2005, keep in mind that Giles is only 20 right now. 4 years worth of aging would be recognizable. Same with O’Keefe, who’d be 21 and not 25.

Thank you Michelle Malkin!
Thank you for developing you’re investigative skills and you’re hard work to uncover lies, hypocrisy and outright corruption. Thank you for you’re long hours of tedious work checking through seas of paper and jigsaw puzzles of evidence, for long meetings and phone calls relentlessly digging for any scraps of facts that could uncover proof of the truth, and sometimes not finding it. Thank you for enduring the rants, lies, cat calls and overt racism flung you’re way with a classy, calm and determined smile from those who only see you as a threat to their gravy trains at gaming the system. Thank you for never selling out you’re principals of fairness and honesty for a quick buck or just to appease powerful people or institutions. Thank you for demanding these principals from our elected officials and powerful voices in our media as well as from employees in our government. Thank you for you’re unwavering devotion to principal and for not being afraid to call out those whom you see violate those sacred principles, to their face, be they democrat or republican. Thank you for loving our country and standing up for those who fight to protect it. Thank you for you’re hard work and dedication to truth for the betterment of our country and society. Thank you for telling it like it is, and informing our citizens with books and media appearances, like a truth teller yelling from the rooftops at the top of you’re lungs for all to hear. Thank you for being my fellow American. You are my hero!

There is strategic value in the video date stamp always being the same.
First, Hannah and O’Keefe know where they were on what dates and likely can prove it easily. Second, ACORN’s thugs probably are unclear as to what specific dates the tapes were made which will hinder destruction of evidence for those times. Third, a sleazy ACORN lawyer can’t accuse Hannah and O’Keefe of intentionally altering any dates marked on the videotapes if it is always the default date as set by the camcorder manufacturer, not them.

In fact, Chucky defended Truther “Rabbi” Lerner in order to use his words to clear his buddy Van Jones. The same Lerner which Chuck himself denounced as a Truther back in 2006 (though if you link to the post at his own site he bans you).
Now the douche drools all over ACORN.
And he still links to Hotair, despite the fact Hotair features R.S McCain as a greenroom writer, something which got Pajamas Media out of his links.

I’d suggest MM start an entirely new website strictly made to report corruption in ALL facets of government.
ACORN, SEIU, AFL-CIO, kick backs from defense contractors,
kick backs from security contractors, kick backs from manufacturers.
The site could include an e-mail function to report these abuses as there is no other media, except maybe FOX that would do anything with the information.
Please consider this as there are few entities large enough or with enough clout to do anything about it.
It could be a part of H.A.,I’m sure the regulars in here would support it.
Jeff from WI on September 17, 2009 at 6:55 AM
The time stamp is irrelevant. 2005 was 4 years ago and Giles would have been 16 years old – she’s clearly older than that in the videos.
O’Keefe explained it was a camera reset … But if you think about what they are doing – the more ambiguity about exactly WHEN they walked into the these offices the harder it gets for ACORN to calculate what went on and in what order. When they’re confused – they tell more idiotic lies.
O’Keefe’s goal here isn’t just to catch ACORN in illegal acts – but to push them to make certain reactions to his videos that he knows they will make.
I would not be surprised if he has a “plant” in the ACORN organization itself who’s documenting their internal reactions and angst for a future expose.
I recommend that all of us infiltrate ACORN, SEIU, and all their subsidiaries. It’s easy to do and next year the push will REALLY be on these organizations to get people to the polls to vote Democratic. Of course – any action by ACORN that is partisan is illegal since they draw public funds – but we know it’s happening. We need, and WILL get our own people into these organizations to document video of their wrongdoing.
This segeway’s into another Alinsky rule – that an organization’s REACTION to a threat will often, by itself, accomplish the goal of the radicals. By keeping the pressure on ACORN in this manner – they will no longer be able count on the fact that their blatant violations of the law will go unnoticed. This means they will either have to abandon those illegalities or drive them undergroud where they can’t be seen or filmed. Of course – the latter course will result in GREATLY DIMENISHED EFFECTIVENESS of ACORN – which is our goal.
You can thank O’Keefe and Giles for this.
Let’s also make sure WE PAY any any fines they get from Democratic attorney generals supporting the underage prostitute / illegal alien smuggling ring that is ACORN.

Will the msm report this?
CNN..TRANSCRIPT…9/16/09″ “And up next, the real cost of welfare in this country. It’s a hidden cost, but you can’t imagine how big it really is. We’ll have that for you, nextDOBBS: A new Heritage Foundation study finds that the Obama administration will spend more than $10 trillion on welfare programs over the next decade. The Heritage Foundation’s Robert Rector, the co-author of the study, calls the president’s approach a plan for bankruptcy.
Robert Rector joins us now. Robert, good to have you with us. I mean this is — it’s an extraordinary amount of money and why is it not in plain view as we look at the budget numbers and what is being proposed?
ROBERT RECTOR, SR. RESEARCH FELLOW, HERITAGE FOUNDATION: This spending is largely hidden, because when you deal with similar programs like Medicare and Social Security, they are a single item in the federal budget. But when you look at aid to the poor, and that’s cash, food, housing and medical care for poor and very low income people, it’s spread out among 71 different programs and 14 different departments and agencies.
So you have to literally go through thousands of pages in the budget to uncover how much we spend on poor people. But when you do that exercise, what you find is that this year, we’re going to spend about $800 billion on poor and low-income people. And it’s about 5 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. It’s the third largest category of government spending. Social security and Medicare come first, then public education, then comes aid to the poor or means tested welfare. And we’re now at a record level. Obama is going to increase it by about $300 billion over the next two years. But the increase isn’t temporary. It just goes on and on and on.
DOBBS: Did you say $300 billion over two years?
RECTOR: Yes, that’s the increase over the next two years alone. But then it doesn’t go down after the recession. It continues to remain high. Within a few years, we’re going to be spending $1 trillion a year on this stuff. And I’m not making these numbers up. They come right out of Obama’s budgets. And it’s an astonishing thing. We are marching towards national bankruptcy. He’s piling on half a trillion dollars of debt a year for the foreseeable future. We’re basically mortgaging our children’s future in order to spread the wealth today. And spreading the wealth might be a good idea, but we ought to at least be honest before we start doing even more of it about how much we’re currently spending on the poor.
Our current spending amounts to about $18,000 on assistance to the poor for every single poor person in the United States, every single year.
DOBBS: Say that number again. How much per person? RECTOR: It’s $18,000 for each poor person. That’s the total amount of spending on means tested welfare. Now you could even look at it more broadly, because some of the spending goes to people that are low income, but not necessarily poor. But even if you were to take that, if you were to take this money and spread it out through the bottom one-third of the U.S. population, everybody in the bottom third gets part of this money.
It comes to $28,000 for each family of four down in that bottom third of the population. It’s a huge amount of expenditure and it’s largely untouched, undescribed. When the Census Bureau talks about inequality or measures poverty, guess what? Of this $800 billion of spending, not a — virtually none of it is counted.
When we talk about how much the poor have and how much the rich have, we don’t count the welfare state. They pretend that this doesn’t exist. That’s an insane way to conduct a discussion about public policy.
DOBBS: Insane and insane that we don’t have a discussion of what is being spent in total. $10.3 trillion over the next decade. That is absolutely staggering. $28,000 per family in the lower third of income in this country per year. Again, staggering. And yet, poverty persists. And as you say, there is no acknowledgement of the money that is being redistributed by the federal government to these low-income people in this country.
RECTOR: What you find when you really examine the living standards of lower income people is that they’re doing much better than normal dialogue puts on. For example, if you look at families that census identifies as poor, they have cable and satellite television. What the problem with a lot of this spending…
DOBBS: Robert, I’m going to have to break here. We’re running out our time. And Robert, we thank you for being with us. Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation.”
$28,000 TO A ‘POOR’ FAMILY OF FOUR..BUT LITTLE IS COUNTED AS INCOME..SO THE POVERTY PIMPS..WHO DO EXCEEDINGLY WELL IN THE USA…GET RICHER. AND YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A USA CITIZEN TO GET A LOT OF “INCOME TRANFERS” FROM THE :”RICH” TO THE “DESERVING POOR”. THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH. A LIE IS A LIE. WE HAD BETTER START MAKING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO. AND MICHELLE OBAMA..JUST LIKE ROSYLN CARTER..AND HILLARY CLINTON..WAS ELECTED TO NOTHING. IF SHE WISHES TO MAKE POLICY..LET HER RUN FOR THE SENATE..LIKE HILLARY DID..THEN IT WILL BE FINE. THEN. WHEN SHE IS ELECTED.

No one can chart the organization discussed in Michell’s book because it is such a Rube Goldberg disorganization. As a instructor in organizational and leadership, it is disorganization that allows the organization to do what it desires and to whom it desires.

Kudos Michelle. “Deep-seated” is excellent terminology in this particular instance. All of our diagnostics indicate that Acorn is a lethal inoperable tumor. Now if congress ONLY has the courage to follow through with the prognosis, viz. death. Will they, or won’t they cut-off all of their funding?
Meanwhile, as Michelle has pointed out here, journalism is alive-and-well, if only in the blogosphere.
