Video: ACORN chief vows to fight “modern-day McCarthyism”; Update: California launches probe of ACORN

posted at 8:11 pm on September 16, 2009 by Allahpundit

She finally decided to crawl out of the bunker and hit some cable shows this afternoon. Not surprisingly, Blitzer’s segment is the more informative of the two: Watch her thank O’Keefe and Giles for helping weed out the very few bad apples in the ACORN system before (a) threatening to sue them, (b) accusing them of doctoring the vids, and (c) alleging that they were turned away from “dozens” of offices. She also hedges when he presses her on submitting to an external review in lieu of that sham “audit” she thinks we’re all stupid enough to take seriously. As for the Schultz clip, it’s worth watching for two reasons. One, the “Nuts vs. ACORN” chyron is vintage MSNBC. And two, the McCarthyism soundbite at the very end, used here to deflect public interest in a nonprofit conspiring to cover up child sex trafficking, will live in infamy.

Ace is right, incidentally. Their new strategy, now that Big Government is making them bleed every day, is simply to hang on until they run out of videos and then wait for the public to lose interest. If you’re tired of these cretins getting your tax dollars, now’s the time to call Boehner, Cantor, and the rest of the House GOP and demand that they vote on defunding as soon as possible. Put the bill on Obama’s desk. Make him veto it.

Update: Evidently Schwarzenegger’s a modern-day McCarthyite too. Who knew?

Human trafficking across international boarders warrants an investigation by the U.N.

The UN is too busy passing resolutions condemning Israeli aggression and raping local kids to investigate human trafficking.

Obama’s post racial Hope and Change:

“ACORN chief:modern-day McCarthyism”;

House Democrat: If we don’t censure Joe Wilson, the KKK will ride through the countryside

“ACORN on the sting tapes:Their Willie Horton moment”

Gov. Paterson blamed a racist media Friday for trying to push him out of next year’s election – launching into an angry rant that left even some black Democrats shaking their heads.

Black Atlanta Politico: Hey, We Really Need to Unite Behind a Single Black Candidate for Mayor to Keep the Office From Falling Into White Hands

“This seat was set aside for people who look like me,” said Mr. Herenton’s campaign manager, Sidney Chism, a black county commissioner. “It wasn’t set aside for a Jew or a Christian. It was set aside so that blacks could have representation.”

Democrat Diane Watson: Republicans hate ObamaCare because they’re racists. Also, Castro’s a genius.

Charlie Rangel:
“Some Americans have not gotten over the fact that Obama is President of the United States. They go to sleep wondering, ‘how did this happen?’”

and….

“Why do black people have to bargain for what is theirs? Why do we have to wait for the right to vote? Why can’t we get what God has given us? And that is the right to live as human beings and not negotiate with white southerners and not court the votes. Just do the right thing,” Rangel said.

“I think it’s based on racism,” Carter said. “There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president.”

Maureen Dowd:But, fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie, boy! …
…Wilson clearly did not like being lectured and even rebuked by the brainy black president presiding over the majestic chamber.

Arianna Huffington on Van Jones:Your vile and vicious smear campaign has helped reverse one of the worst examples of miscasting since John Wayne took on the role of Genghis Khan in The Conqueror.

David Sorta:Hence, we can be assured the original targeting of Jones was a calculated move with race in mind – a move designed to fit the criticism into a larger racial backlash framework first perfected in the 1980s.

Howard Kurtz:
I began to suspect that race was a factor for at least some critics when I heard them shouting about “the Constitution” and “taking our country back.”

God we are so lucky to have the super smart, morally superior liberals that are colorblind and don’t judge people based on the color of their skin to show us the way.

The joy of being a liberal is that nothing is ever your fault and anyone who opposes you is a racist.

Yes We Can!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course. What I’m pointing out is the hypocrisy — hypocrisy we see on both the left and much of the right.

White pride = Evil, despicable, Nazi-like.

BuckeyeSam on September 16, 2009 at 9:14 PM

you all sound like complete jacka$$es making fun of her appearance based simply on the fact that she is wearing ethnic apparel.

You [all] would be wise to just drop it and shut up.

DaveS on September 16, 2009 at 9:04 PM

Yes, people who throw around baseless accusations of racism generally do want people, after they’ve made the charges, want people to “drop it and just shut up.”

We. Will. Not. You made the assumption that this is “ethnic” clothing based on what? The race of one person wearing it? I’ve seen variations of this clothing on LOTS of people and a lot of them weren’t “ethnic” (whatever THAT means).

Doesn’t sound to me like we’re the racists here.

Bottom line: I’m tired of being called racist for commenting on people’s politics, ethics, and yes, even something as “silly” as pointing out that on talk shows, you see women – white and black – wearing suits, and commenting on a deviation from the norm may be an excessive focus on fashion but nothing more.

Got it, race-baiter? I’m SICK of trying to be nice about conservatives-as-a-whole being falsely accused of EVERYTHING by liberals, and race is just one of them.

‘marginally African-looking stitching’. If you toss out a mega-dumb remark like that, Dave, you gotta ’splain yourself.

In this case, “marginally African looking stitching” is the Aftican Kaftan she is wearing in the video we are discussing. The question answers itself. How can you possibly be confused by this?

Dude, I’m not some fashion expert. I have no idea what the particular aesthetic is called or what its stylistic origins are. WTF are you asking?

Bottom line, somebody saw her wearing an ethnic garment and made a joke about it looking like it came from Goodwill. And you’re defending it.

This is an argument that you can’t win, and which will only make you look worse and worse as it progresses, so for your sake it ends now.

DaveS on September 16, 2009 at 9:24 PM

Oh, don’t stop on anyone else’s account, as it looks like you’re avoiding answering questions. I’d like an answer to my earlier question, please.

If you’re “not a fashion expert” and don’t know what the “stylistic origins” of the garment is then how do you know it’s African? Because of the race of one person wearing it?

Why am I pursuing this? You included “you all” in your comment from 9:04 so you basically accused everyone on this thread who thought her clothing deviated from the norm, racist.

YOU were the one who brought up “African” (go look at your 8:32 post) and “ethnic” (various posts).

No one else said “African” or “ethnic” but you yourself, Sir. I’m sick of being called a racist by others who are overfocusing on race themselves.

What she’s wearing isn’t standard for a talk show. Would I have commented on it? No. Do I object to others commenting on the fact that it’s nonstandard for talk shows and getting called racist for it? HELL YES.

kingsjester on September 16, 2009 at 9:39 PM

You don’t know what “ethnic” means?

DaveS on September 16, 2009 at 9:37 PM

Cross posting evidently.

I do know what it means. Do you?

Being much more intelligent than you, apparently.

Because you’re such a soi-disant “fashion expert.” Ah. I see what you did there.

inviolet on September 16, 2009 at 9:40 PM

You’re that simply saying “I’m proud to be white” probably won’t get you in much trouble. But that’s not the kind of racial awareness I’m talking about. I’m talking about those who acknowledge that there are racial differences and that those differences are important — socially, culturally and politically.

2Brave2Bscared on September 16, 2009 at 9:37 PM

I have acknowledged that genetics (not just skin color BTW) most likely have some affect on our lives. I also believe that environment has a great deal to do with it.

Happy?

Or would you prefer me to talk about total supremacy of a given group… No thanks. I don’t espouse those views.

Crying McCarthyism, as it was once said by a great individual, is the coward’s version of fatwa.

Ryan Gandy on September 16, 2009 at 9:40 PM

That’s good for when you both have to go to the Al Gore mandatory GREEN rally ;)

Upstater85 on September 16, 2009 at 9:35 PM

I’m thinkin’ the green will look good with the government green dull paint on the walls of our brand new FEMA camps!

20 years from now, we’ll be sitting around telling stories like, “and this one time at FEMA camp, AnninCA had this flute….”

I agree with you, up to a point. Indies(of which I am Reg’d)catching a 5min clip, will be offended by 3 of every 5 calling them racist.

Jussayin!

Archimedes on September 16, 2009 at 9:40 PM

DAVE S read this again

No one else said “African” or “ethnic” but you yourself, Sir. I’m sick of being called a racist by others who are overfocusing on race themselves.

inviolet on September 16, 2009 at 9:37 PM

+1

CWforFreedom on September 16, 2009 at 9:40 PM

People have lost their friggin’ minds on this race thing. Obama needs to do something. If he were a leader that is.

rollthedice on September 16, 2009 at 9:37 PM

Originally I thought he needed to man up and tell his lib cronies to back off too, but now I see how much damage the racist charges are doing to him, so I’d just as soon he keep his mouth shut.

Gotta admit, it would be great if Ann got scooped up with the rest of us, just for concern trolling on HA… I just hope they don’t bring crr69…

Yep. And the wife of George Jefferson’s neighbor played the Queen. I believe her real name was Madge Sinclair.

kingsjester on September 16, 2009 at 9:42 PM

For all the nastiness people have to say about President Bush, that man put some real work into stopping human trafficking. He made it an annual training requirement for military personnel so we can spot it and combat it abroad for goodness sakes.

The world might agree that it is wrong, but no one does anything about it…unless you include ACORN’s hard work to get as many teenage hookers into America as possible. God bless those community organizers.

I’m not talking about what you believe or what you should believe. I’m merely talking about the politically correct double standard that exists.

2Brave2Bscared on September 16, 2009 at 9:42 PM

Is post-racialism fun?

I thought you were talking about some sort of “racial awareness”

Want to elaborate?

CABLE NEWS RACE
Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009

FOXNEWS O’REILLY 4,039,000
FOXNEWS HANNITY 3,451,000
FOXNEWS BECK 3,421,000
FOXNEWS GRETA 2,785,000
FOXNEWS BAIER 2,273,000
FOXNEWS SHEP SMITH 2,201,000
MSNBC OLBERMANN 1,395,000
MSNBC MADDOW 1,369,000
CNN KING 1,355,000
CNN COOPER 1,086,000

I think its so funny that the first non-Fox show would have to double its share in order to barely tie 4th place with Greta.

Anyone ever heard of this Keith Olberwhatever guy….?
–me neither…

ted c on September 16, 2009 at 9:44 PM

I’m sorry, but inviolet, et al, you just aren’t intelligent enough to discuss this. If you can’t recognize that a manifestly African garment is, in fact, an African garment– even after I told you what it is called and linked to photographs of other examples–you are pretty much incorrigible.

Go back to your fringe echo chamber and pretend I’m “dodging questions” or “politically correct” or whatever else you have to do to convince yourself that making front of someone’s appearance because of their ethnicity isn’t inherently racist. The rest of us–outside of the 4 or 5 of you who will reinforce each others’ reassuring statements–will be pitying you.

DaveS on September 16, 2009 at 9:44 PM

Yup, me too.

The weird thing is that my brother gets a nice olive tan…

Me? I have to get burnt till I’m a purplish-brown… Not pretty.

Upstater85 on September 16, 2009 at 9:38 PM

I’ve been workin the lobster thing for so long now, it turns marroon by the end of May. Got seriously fried down in SA as a kid, lived down there few years.

So eventually it goes kinda nice(so I’ve been told)with the reddish mop and the baby blues.
