Video: ACORN chief vows to fight “modern-day McCarthyism”; Update: California launches probe of ACORN

posted at 8:11 pm on September 16, 2009 by Allahpundit

She finally decided to crawl out of the bunker and hit some cable shows this afternoon. Not surprisingly, Blitzer’s segment is the more informative of the two: Watch her thank O’Keefe and Giles for helping weed out the very few bad apples in the ACORN system before (a) threatening to sue them, (b) accusing them of doctoring the vids, and (c) alleging that they were turned away from “dozens” of offices. She also hedges when he presses her on submitting to an external review in lieu of that sham “audit” she thinks we’re all stupid enough to take seriously. As for the Schultz clip, it’s worth watching for two reasons. One, the “Nuts vs. ACORN” chyron is vintage MSNBC. And two, the McCarthyism soundbite at the very end, used here to deflect public interest in a nonprofit conspiring to cover up child sex trafficking, will live in infamy.

Ace is right, incidentally. Their new strategy, now that Big Government is making them bleed every day, is simply to hang on until they run out of videos and then wait for the public to lose interest. If you’re tired of these cretins getting your tax dollars, now’s the time to call Boehner, Cantor, and the rest of the House GOP and demand that they vote on defunding as soon as possible. Put the bill on Obama’s desk. Make him veto it.

Update: Evidently Schwarzenegger’s a modern-day McCarthyite too. Who knew?

Huh? Pelosi wields the gavel in the House. How can the GOP force a vote on this thing?

Maybe this time the usual push-back won’t work. Maybe. Just maybe.

Only because there’s already a vibrant child sex slave inductry in Philly, and ACORN doesn’t want anyone chiseling in on their turf.

Referring to all the race-baiting, no doubt.

So if instead of communists and fellow travelers old McCarthy had picked a fight with pedophiles and pimps that the Left would be using his name as a slur now?

Heck, a few leftwing darlings like Janet Reno rose to prominence going after those supposed satanic child abusing daycare centers in the 80s and 90s…

OT: BOR is on now trying to argue that ACORN has little connection to Obama.

WTF? O’Reilly must be setting himself up for some kind of ratings-bonanza interview that Obama will finally take when his or Obamacare’s disapproval goes into freefall.

Sorry, O’Reilly, ACORN = Obama. And by the time Obama comes begging, it’ll be too late.

Janos Hunyadi on September 16, 2009 at 8:23 PM

I want an APOLOGY from this woman for calling conservatives racists. Just for the precedent’s sake. Especially O’Keefe, who predicted they’d be apologizing to him and Giles (for a buncha stuff, as it seems to be turning out) before this is over.

And while we’re talking about racism, can we look at the five employees of ACORN, four of whom were fired and one was not? Could I get some explanation of that that makes sense? If it were a conservative organization being stung, the racist difference in cutting the employees loose would be the lede.

A******s.

ACORN and the White House are enduring a painful Drano IV drip. It is burning, it is relentless and the boot is on the neck of both.

Things are happening fast.

Schwarzenegger has called for an investigation–developing on Drudge

White House is “distancing itself” from activist group–developing on Politico

and the coup de grace’–Hannity has video number 5 tonight, exclusive.

Push for a RICO investigation of ACORN and a special prosecutor to see how close Obama’s links are with this criminal conspiracy. Not only are our tax dollars funding this filth, these are the type of people that Obama has gutting our security policies right now too.

The reemergence of the “McCarthyism” canard provides the perfect opportunity to establish once and for all that, with the emergence of the Kremlin files, McCarthy has been proven correct in his assertions that there were Communist agents in the State Department.

Don’t let this go by again.

warbaby on September 16, 2009 at 8:28 PM

wasn’t it ms bertha that said the staff’s actions were indefensible? then why is she trying to defend them by smearing the hard investigative reporters?

jbh45 on September 16, 2009 at 8:29 PM

I can think of a few others who should have their mouths’ washed out with soap, and they are NOT in the GOP. The proof of how close to the truth this undercover op hit is in this guy’s response (I know, but I don’t see much of the feminine side with Lewis).

Exit Question: If ACORN is publicly funded to help the poor buy housing, what qualified them to help out with the census? Am I missing a link here?

Therefore, liberals & the MSM collude in covering up and enabling underage sex slavery, sexual abuse, and tax evasion. What could be more clear?

JellyToast on September 16, 2009 at 8:44 PM

One thing everyone might want to consider: These people don’t believe they did anything wrong.

Forget logic, toss reason out the window. ACORN’s policies are within the law as they choose to see it. This ‘defense’ is to be expected, really. They start from the premise they’re victims and so become victimizers without believing they’re that way. It’s all delusion on their part, and not even a court ruling is going to break their fantasy.

Liam on September 16, 2009 at 8:44 PM

They need to slow down on these videos a little bit. ACORN is waiting for everything to die down so they can go back to business as usual. Let them think that. Then drop another video on them in a month. Then another one in 3 months. Just when people stop talking about it, drop another one.

Of course, this is assuming (hoping?) that there are many more.
