Two thirds of Czechs have consistently opposed the radar ever since it was first proposed in 2006.

Anti-radar activists have repeatedly called for a referendum on the issue, but have been rebuffed.

Czechs opposed to U.S. plans to install even had a protest march’s during President Barack Obama’s visit to Prague despite a ban on the demonstration.
The protests came as opinion polls suggest many Czechs fear the missile shield could lead to tensions with Russia and more insecurity in Europe.

In addition to ongoing protests, some demonstrations recently ended a 10-month hunger strike.

A new approach, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the United States would deploy Aegis-equipped ships with interceptors capable of shooting down ballistic missiles to defend both European allies and U.S. forces

She tried calling the PM of Poland…and he refused her call. He said Obama should have called. Not the first time Obama broke protocol and assigned someone to do what he should do. Just yesterday he snubbed PM Harper of Canada by not personally greeting him upon arrival.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed today that he declined last night to take a call from the U.S. informing him of the decision to scrap planned missile-defense bases in his country.

Two U.S.-based sources close to the Polish government said Thursday that Tusk also rejected a call from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — on the grounds that, as the head of the government, he should speak to the president.

“Hillary called — and the reason he turned it down was because of protocol,” said a source.

On second thought, maybe he is a trader….he’s going to trade strength for weakness, wealth for poverty, and honor for cowardice.

How many ethnic Russians live in the former satellites and now need to be protected by mutha Russia? Those satellites are full of folks who vividly remember the tender mercies of their former overloads and would very much like to avoid any repeat performances. Who correctly see the US as instrumental to their recently attained freedom from the bear.

By pulling back we signal that we are surrendering eastern Europe to Russia’s presumptive sphere of influence; it has nothing to do with the relative technical merits of the proposed system any more the SDI did under Reagan. It was/is geopolitical theater and either the current administration really did go by the merits and is staffed by fools, some other backroom negotiations were made, or maybe we have the wrong premises for evaluating the actions of the Obama foreign policy; if we assume the wrong goals, the policies look downright stupid. All fun aside, O is not stupid; he beat the Clintons at their own game, no mean feat. Hubris? Maybe. Manchurian? Well maybe a little far….

Maybe we really don’t understand the ultimate policy goals of the Obama administration, which certainly would be a big deviation form the last 50 odd years and does not appear to follow the stated intent. Sleep well.

MAYBE some jam tomorrow, but none today. That is the American message to its most stalwart allies in the ex-communist world as Barack Obama’s administration shelves plans to deploy ten interceptor rockets in Poland and a radar station in the Czech Republic.

The timing of the announcement is poor, coming on September 17th, the anniversary of the Soviet attack on Poland in 1939. In a country highly tuned to symbolic snubs, it matters that nobody in Washington seemed to know or care about that.

My thought is that the Russians have something on him because they have his passport records from when he was detained in Russia as a senator – before his passport file here in America was probably altered.

I’d really like to know when in 2004 the Kenyan people took the birth records from 1960-63, and especially where that came in relation to Obama’s election to the Senate – which would have been illegal if he was not even a US citizen (which would be the case if he was born in Kenya and never naturalized).

This whole thing is surreal. I keep thinking I’m going to wake up and find it’s all been a nightmare. Especially after 9-11-01, the thought of this nation torn to bits from within in such a short amount of time would have seemed laughable. I don’t think anybody’s laughing now.

Before the election, when we were sounding the alarms, I told my dad America would never elect somebody as anti-American as Obama. I kept hoping that maybe I was just being alarmist in my understanding of who Obama is. But as each new atrocity has happened I’ve gotten more of the sinking feeling that we were right all along and that the python may already be too tight around America’s neck for us to ever escape.

As the questions kept coming up, “What did Obama gain by doing this?” I had the sinking feeling this morning, that Obama can never tell us what he gained – because it would be an admission that Russia has this whole nation hostage because he has been lying to us all along about his eligibility.

Nancy Pelosi knows it; that’s why she signed two different documents and only used the one saying Obama is constitutionally eligible to send to Hawaii, where verification of Constitutional eligibility is supposedly required by state law. It’s also required by state law in New Jersey and wherever Wrotnowski is from. Which form did she send to New Jersey?

The site you linked to – I hadn’t realized that the lawyer who did the Dunham-Soetoro divorce later became the lawyer for the DNC in Hawaii. Makes me wonder if Nancy sent that form to Hawaii because she knew that guy could cover for her – make sure the facts of the birth were never made public.

Someday there will be some answers. I don’t know if I’ll still care about this in Heaven, but there is one Judge that Obama will never be able to bribe or worm his way around – and I really want to know what the truth is about all this.

When Gates was in the Bush administration, he supported missile defense. That makes him a liar, a traitor or both.

Eastern European allies are not betrayed by this. They are protected by membership in NATO and the nuclear deterrence of three nuclear member nations.

What has Obama done since taking over as Commander in Chief that give you any inkling that Obama gives a rip about Israel? What makes you think this missile defense shield cancellation has anything to do with protection Israel?

Other than not rolling over on expanding settlements (in the long run the right decision), I haven’t seen anything of significance where Obama doesn’t support Israel. This cancelation came about, as Secretary Gates put it, “because of a change in the U.S. perception of the threat posed by Iran. U.S. intelligence decided short- and medium-range missiles from Iran now pose a greater near-term threat than the intercontinental ballistic missiles the Bush plan addressed.” Gates (Bush’s Secretary), and the Pentagon are behind this. This move was done because of a perceived threat, not because of Israel, but because the new proposed defense system is putting Iranian missiles as a priority, it is good for Israel, and clearly so.
