Surprise: ACORN audit to be conducted by panel full of leftists and cronies

posted at 6:42 pm on September 16, 2009 by Allahpundit

I can’t do better than Karl’s summary so I’m going to steal it: “A Soros hack, an SEIU thug, someone who pleaded to lying to the FBI, and a Kennedy.” All that’s missing are a few pimps and prostitutes for “technical expertise.” Hardest-hitting internal investigation evah:

In a press release, ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis says, that as “a result of the indefensible action of a handful of our employees,” the group will immediately stop accepting anyone into ACORN office for service programs, will conduct in-service training of staff, and begin an audit “to review all of the systems and processes called into question by the videos,” to be conducted by the group’s Independent Advisory Council.

The Council includes many prominent Democrats, including the man who helped President Obama Transition Team, John Podesta, President and CEO of the Center for American Progress; former Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend; Andrew Stern, International President of the Service Employees International Union; and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Henry Cisneros.

More background on the panel from Karl here. They’ll have the place cleaned up in no time. Meanwhile, you’ll be glad to know that the White House has now formally deemed this seemingly endless series of videos about covering up child-sex-slave trafficking — and it is seemingly endless, per the latest hint dropped by Big Government editor Mike Flynn — to be “completely unacceptable.” Whether that means The One will sign a bill to defund the organization should it pass the House is unclear. Presumably the point of this absurd whitewash-slash-“audit” is to create enough cover for Democrats to say they deserve a second chance, which is all the more reason why it’s important for Big Government to keep the clips coming. The more there are, the more systemic this is, the more pathetic the idea of some investigative panacea becomes.

Speaking of keeping the clips coming, here’s part three from San Bernardino; a new one, reportedly from San Diego, is set to go live tonight around nine. Pay special attention starting at around two minutes in as our heroine nods blithely along while O’Keefe and Giles talk about johns paying extra to physically assault the child prostitutes they’re raping. Exit question for big media: Now that Jon Stewart’s informed you that it’s okay to pursue this story, can we knock it off with the “ACORN versus conservatives” angle? Unless you’re okay with a taxpayer-funded nonprofit colluding in sex slavery, the politics of Breitbart, O’Keefe, and Giles would seem to be somewhat tangential to the real story here.

Barack Obama is a man who is a coward when it comes to ACORN relations. In ACORN things Barack Obama has always been and I believe continues to be, in too many ways, essentially a coward. ACORN issues continue to be a topic of political discussion, but Barack Obama simply does not talk enough to average Americans about ACORN.

Actually, I sort of like the implication of the MSM’s “ACORN versus conservatives” meme. Conservatives oppose underage sex slavery, sexual abuse, and tax evasion. Therefore, liberals & the MSM collude in covering up and enabling underage sex slavery, sexual abuse, and tax evasion. What could be more clear?

I’m afraid that karl and allah are barely scratching the surface on this and this will allow the whitewashing to occur… we need to dig deeper…

It’s time for Obama to name a unbiased Special Prosecutor to get to the bottom of all this. I suggest Rudi Giuliani.

AKA as “all the people responsible for our getting government funding to begin with”. Isn’t this akin to Opium growers investigating the mafia?

I’ve got a great idea for an alternative investigative panel. Let’s start with Sarah Palin….after all, what could they possibly fear from having some moose-riding Caribou Barbie from the sticks go through their records….

More good research

classicalvalues.com/archives/2009/09/acorn_is_lookin.html

All ACORN watchers should do a twitter search for the RT’s of @anitamoncrief … she is an ACORN whistleblower.. she has a blog at: 3.ly/3Ak

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend press release accusing GOP attacks on Acorn as voter suppression http://3.ly/s9o

According to that a post on that whistleblower’s blog… here are the people on that advisery council…

“”””
We’ll also be recognizing our newly formed Advisory Committee: Dave Beckwith, Henry Cisneros, Eric Eve, Harvey Hirschfeld, Kathleen Kennedy-Townsend, John Podesta and Andy Stern.
“”””

3.ly/sXK

Someone needs to setup a timeline and point out all the ridiculous PR manuvers they’ve made…

everyone get researching… this shouldn’t be the last blogpost on who is in charge of the acorn internal audit….

BTW, I think eric eve is the weak link… if it can be proven that his job at Citi came from “community organizing” pressure or just plain political it would be rather devastating and would allow escalating the inquiry to all of ACORN’s operations… not just the low level people…

sherryande on September 16, 2009 at 8:08 PM

They are not going to conduct an audit, they are going to wash any evidence away.
But everyone knows that. Here’s an idea..seal the documents. Maobama should know how to get that ball rolling.

Itchee Dryback on September 16, 2009 at 8:19 PM

What a surprise. An ACORN internal audit conducted by Marxist tools and community organizers who are clueless about ethics and Generally Accepted Auditing Principles. It’s like letting Bernie Maddoff audit a hedge fund.

BottomLine5 on September 16, 2009 at 8:19 PM

I’m sure there will eventually be a few D.A.’s involved and everyone will forget about this motley crew of whitewashers.

I think the investigation should be into how many mortgage applications the Acorn Housing division steered to Fannie Mae…were they from applicants (real ones) such as this and is that why the economy is in the toilet????? These women were not in the least fazed by the two kids saying they wanted to buy a house…so not the first time????

I have personally examined all of the evidence relating to ACORN’S various and nefarious ‘activities’ in the several states (20+, actually), and have been forced to conclude ACORN is a criminal enterprise within the meaning and definition of the RICO statutes. It would be impossible for any independent examiner to arrive at a contrary conclusion.

As a RICO enterprise, ACORN is liable not only for restitution of all $$$ illegally obtained by it, it is also liable for payment of Treble Damages under the U.S. Code, so as to ensure it will not embark upon the same course of conduct in the future.

Beck HAS to do a “break down” of the clowns being picked to “clean up” ACORN.

America MUST know!

Jeff from WI on September 16, 2009 at 8:41 PM

ACORN’s worst crime is the corruption they’ve brought to our electoral process. They successfully lobbied for the removal of virtually all safeguards against fraud and then jammed the system with their monkeywrenching. Can we PLEASE now undo this damage and restore sane election laws? For example, let’s return to having an election DAY in Ohio instead of an election month. Wherein all kinds of fraud can be perpetrated by early voters and mail-in ballots.

Let the shredding of documents begin.

davo on September 16, 2009 at 9:13 PM

I have never been thankful more thankful for Jon Stewart. The Daily Show made more mention of the ACORN debacle in one segment than CNN, CBS, MSNBC, ABC, and the NYT had since the first video broke. Which should have every newsperson everywhere throwing up in their mouths just a little bit, revolted that they have sold their journalistic birthright for a mess of pottage.

Won’t pass the smell test, even by the low standards of the ‘media’.

Vashta.Nerada on September 16, 2009 at 11:34 PM

The Secularists seem to agree with the crude axiom, “Old enough to bleed, old enough to breed.”

Makes perfect sense since they want little kids to learn about oral sex and masturbation, distribute condoms to high schools, and let child molesters walk. I guess those adults who are still in high school on an emotional and intellectual level see nothing wrong with any of this.

Besides, if Conservatives want to protect children/adolescents from stuff that they’re just too young to handle and dare to decide what’s appropriate for people who are legally minors, then they must certainly be wrong, because Conservatives are wrong about everything to begin with.

Dr. ZhivBlago on September 17, 2009 at 12:26 AM

Obama signs a bill passed by the House and Senate that allows him to deal with the completely unacceptable…journalistic integrity of O’Keefe and Giles and has them shipped off to Gitmo!!! >:O

Orange Doorhinge on September 17, 2009 at 3:38 AM

Oh wow! What I had predicted in a post at the FReep less than twelve hours ago has come to pass.

Of course, ACORN or a panel of its direct liberal/left beneficiaries are going to investigate the goose that lays their golden eggs!

A few ‘expendables’ will be thrown under the bus or to the wolves. There will be a big press conference around Christmas and business will proceed as usual. Money will be shifted to other shell entities under ACORN’s umbrella or into off-shore accounts, then brought back after things settle down, but overall little will have changed.

Jack.

Jack Deth on September 17, 2009 at 9:22 AM

The upcoming report from the audit (paraphrasing Monty Python):

They are a small vociferous minority; and may I take this opportunity of emphasizing that there is no criminal activity in ACORN! Absolutely none, and when I say none, I mean there is a certain amount, more than we are prepared to admit, but all new recruits are warned that if they go to work and find any criminal activity at all at any time, they’re to tell me immediately so that I can immediately take every measure to hush the whole thing up.

mankai on September 17, 2009 at 9:22 AM

ACORN is a cesspool. Having the SEIU involved in audit oversight? How obviously Be Czar.

Acorn was originally Arkansas Community Organizers For Reform Now. In Arkansas you do the deed with your sister. the SEIU is ACORN’s biological sister. This is hill billy politics.

Sir Napsalot on September 17, 2009 at 10:26 AM

I’m starting to fear that Pelosi and Obama are going to be able to block a real investigation!

Like it or not not enough people are hearing about this. I know it is still early days but the House should have acted by now.

How do we get a special prosecutor on this before all the evidence of connections to politicians is destroyed? To stop this kind of crime organization we have to get the politicians who have started it and supported it.

petunia on September 17, 2009 at 10:43 AM

In other words, ACORN is in full CYA mode. I’m sure their investigation will be very good at uncovering evidence of misdeeds and dispensing advice on how to cover it up better.
