New ACORN video: The San Diego sting

posted at 9:49 pm on September 16, 2009 by Allahpundit

I’ve been waiting 45 minutes for Big Government to post the new clip but it looks like this is the best we’ll do for now. Fifty-eight seconds long and it looks like we’ve got (a) a conspiracy to smuggle underaged sex slaves across the border and (b) a kinda sorta proposition to Hannah Giles. Full clip to come, if/when it’s posted.

You’re all modern-day McCarthyites for watching this. You know that, right?

How soon until the smearing of these two bright kids begins in earnest?

Soon. Liberal blogs are already trying to dig up information on Hannah and James.

Ditto. Its time for some smash mouth. TKO em while they are dizzy and on the ropes.

LA Times better cover this ACORN human trafficking sting.

John and Ken out of LA (640 KFI) will be covering it for sure. Rick Roberts (760 KFMB) will be talking about it. Roger Hedgecock (600 KOGO) will be putting some heat on too. These guys all stream live on the net.

LA Times we are watching you.

Mark Levin replied (from memory):

“Comparing Rush Limbaugh to Glenn Beck is like comparing George Washington to George Jefferson.

“He may be entertaining — and he is. He may be informative — and he is. But Glenn Beck is no Rush Limbaugh.”

Tuning Spork on September 16, 2009 at 10:46 PM

Well, he’s right. Beck is more an entertainer. Limbaugh invented the talk radio business. He has also given a lot of people his start.

Blake on September 16, 2009 at 10:52 PM

Maybe the righty blogs should begin to watch out for people digging into flight records to see passenger lists.
I know it’s a long stretch, but with the down time and knowing they’ve flown (probably under their own names), ACORN and their big-time buddies might try and pull some strings to get access to that info.

bikermailman on September 16, 2009 at 10:53 PM

Levin has been taking cheap shots at Beck for months. He and Hannity are jealous. Glenn is tearing up the ratings at 5

I’ve never heard any cheap shots.

Blake on September 16, 2009 at 10:48 PM

He refers to Beck as ‘the Backbencher’ and lost me as a listener, that and his penchant for reading his book on air instead of doing current research on a current topic until they pass him by. Then he will go on the air at 6 pm Eastern and talk about how he is ahead of all the other radio hosts because they do the next day what he did he previous day. The fact that they air before the stories he speaks of break. Don’t get me wrong he’s a brilliant man but his pettiness is boorish.

They were using a camera that reset to 2005 every time it was turned on unless manually reset… which would, you know, kind of be a hard thing to pull off, “Excuse me while I reset my hidden camera to today’s date.”

I mean the ACORN people aren’t the brightest bulbs in the case, but that might tip them off.

O’Reilly is great, but he bends so far over backward to be “fair” that he often breaks and falls apart.

Daggett on September 16, 2009 at 10:28 PM

O’Reilly is a mug and I lost all respect for him a long time ago with all of his bending over backwards crap. It’s so obvious that he’s trying to cover his ass in the vain hope that he’ll be seen as fair, but what he obviously doesn’t realize is that the left will never, ever, in a million years respect or give the benefit of the doubt to anyone on Fox News, no matter how much they bend over.

So he’s reviled by the left and his sickly attempts to court their favor disgust conservatives who wish he would just cut the crap and fight dirty already.

An all round loser.

I’ve never understood why people keep the date on their home movies anyway. What’s the point, unless it’s a police dashboard cam? Just write the date on the friggin tape and film with a clear screen. Dammit every home video you see on the TV has that date crap plastered all over it. It’s like turning it off is one of those skills that humans have for some reason never mastered, like setting the timer on a VCR.

ACORN in RI shuts down

Stressed” is how McDonald said he felt as he sat in his tiny office on Broad Street, watching updates on a Senate vote that shut off funds for ACORN from the Department of Transportation and the Department of Housing and Urban Development

McDonald said the local office has been getting hate phone messages and calls since Friday, including one that accused ACORN of “burning the country to the ground.”

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – When Rick Castro, a deputy sheriff for San Diego County burst in to the house in Vista, a lower middle class neighborhood to the north of San Diego, the first thing that he saw was the destitute brown eyes of a slight girl no older than fourteen, whose hair hung to the middle of her back, dressed in a short black miniskirt and a white tee shirt with the red and blue letters “USA” on it.

The officer was moved by her beauty, but was moved even more by the look of terror in her eyes. Paola had just arrived a few weeks ago at this house of prostitution, dragged there from Morelos, Mexico by the Salazar brothers. Julio, Tomás y Luciano Salazar-Juárez are the dons of the largest local network trafficking and sexual exploiting Mexican girls and adolescents, who have operated for over ten years in the agricultural camps and suburbs of San Diego.

The three men from the Mexican state of Oaxaca had found in the land of opportunity the perfect place to build their empire, trafficking from southern Mexico to the U.S. border with their human merchandise. In their path, they kidnap, extort, corrupt and violate our national laws and those of the United States, with nobody to stop them.

Maybe now somebody will, stop the horror these girls endure.

For Politics, I wish Rush would quit now so Mark Steyn could take over. But whoever they are, they are all a distant 2nd to Michael Savage — the KING!! By the way, Mark Levin unnerves me…I just can’t stick with him long enough to pay attention ..

PaulMorphy on September 16, 2009 at 11:34 PM

I think Shannon Love tempted fate when she asked after the Brooklyn/NYC video “what the hell do you do for an encore?!”

Every time I think we’ve plumbed the depths of what ACORN the House of Nuts is capable of, they actually manage to get caught on tape doing something worse.

The worst part? Keep in mind, shooting these videos doesn’t take that long, maybe a day per site and a day for travel between them – and these two kids say they spent SIX WEEKS shooting this stuff.

ted c on September 16, 2009 at 10:53 PM

Yes. Levin prefaced his response by pointing out that Rush’s success paved the way for all who followed.

I don’t neccessarily agree with. In New York, Bob Grant was a leading conservative voice on WABCradio. Though he was often harsh, not unlike Morton Downey Jr., who gained TV fame at about the same time.

What Rush brought was a young man’s -(believe it or not, Rush came across as [and was] a pompous young man at the time)- perspective on conservatism in American history and, Levin noted, that all those who followed (himself included) owed their media existence to Rush.

I’ve been a fan of Glenn for many years. His take on the returns of the ’02 mid-term elections as reading like “Republican porn” was one of many highlights of his radio career. That, and the introduction (to me) of Buckley’s version of leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” when Reagan died. And the way he maniacally sang along to the song “Shannon”. (“This is a song about a dead dog!!”) He was nuts. Loved it.

I heard Levin’s crappy remark about Glenn Beck tonight. I have heard him make nasty remarks about Glenn for a long time, but after tonight, I am finished with Levin. Glenn Beck has spent lots of time bragging on Rush. In fact, last week Glenn said that he wanted to apologize if he had offended any of his fellow conservative talk show hosts. I believe that Glenn has a different style, but I also believe that he has done some great things for the cause. By making constant snide remarks, Levin has proved himself to lack the wisdom and class of Rush.

The reason I ask about security cameras is b/c I am curious about the insurance aspect of these offices. ACORN has taxpayer funding , they are located in some real rough neighborhoods, someone is underwriting their workman comp policies, they operate in rented office spaces etc.
Do they have a security system for their employees ?
Do they have a backup recorded system for audiovisual audit in case it is needed?
If they do have these systems, these records should have been seized BEFORE publically announcing any investigation.
If they don’t have these systems, ACORN is not providing security to their employees at their place of work.

macncheez on September 17, 2009 at 12:01 AM

Why is this date/time stamp on the video 2005.08.15 at 20:45:xx?

That would indicate the video was recorded a full four years ago. Plus, I live in San Diego and have for nearly 30 years. The sun is way too high in the sky to be almost 9:00pm in mid-August.

The time stamp could simply be due to a time difference in relationship to the time differences in the O’Keefe’s travels from one side of the country to the other and isn’t really significant, but it should be accurate if this this guy O’Keefe is a professional and has decided to leave the time/date stamp imprint on his released videos as a ‘record’ of date and time recorded… but four years difference in the date?

If this was recorded a full four years ago, I don’t really understand why it is being released now. But given the verbal introductions on a couple of the video’s, O’Keefe claims that August 2009 is when the video’s were recorded.

I am somewhat vexed by this inaccuracy, on more than one video release, but I don’t clearly understand why just yet.

In the Baltimore video’s, the first in a running series of video’s apparently, O’Keefe does not verbally state the date/time and there is no date/time stamp on the video’s.

The second of the series, the New York video’s, are not time stamped in the publically released video’s but he verbally claims in the intro that the video was recorded in August 2009.

In the third of the series, the San Bernadino (sic) video’s, they are not date/time stamped in the publically released video’s but he verbally claims in the intro that the video was also recorded in August 2009. But when Fox News posts the full, unedited video’s of the sting on ACORN San Bernardino, they are time/date stamped with a date stamp indicating August 2005 while O’Keefe verbally claims August 2009.

Now, in the teaser for the fourth of the series, in San Diego, the video is date stamped August 2005.

One could infer from the previous verbal claims that these video’s were all done in 2009, but all of them with date stamps indicate 2005.

That’s an amateurish oversight on behalf of O’Keefe, who does not appear to be an amateur, to verbally claim dates in August 2009 while all the video’s with date stamps so far have date stamps of August 2005, and he chooses to display those date stamps on his releases. It doesn’t make sense.

It may mean something, or it may not. I don’t know. But why even bother with recording time and date stamps on the video’s if not to be some kind of purported ‘record’ of when the recordings were made when there is an easy option on all modern camera’s to not even record a time/date stamp with the video, if you prefer no date/time stamp? Why bother leaving the time/date stamp there in full view on the publically released video’s if they’re supposedly created in 2009 and they’re date stamped 2005? That’s not even close to accurate.

Honestly, I don’t know if that means anything significant at all, but it is definitely inconsistent and very amateur considering the credentials of O’Keefe… and I really want to see these video’s stick and be the centerpiece of the prosecution of, and ending of, the long time corrupt and illegal racket known as ACORN.

Perhaps that is why I am so vexed by this.

Is this what Dear Leader meant when he wanted these guys to “help shape” his (HIS) agenda?

Wonder if he got the idea from Mayor “Big Bill” Thompson inviting Al Capone to help shape his agenda back in the day?

Dr. ZhivBlago on September 17, 2009 at 12:02 AM

m. levin has more brilliance in his thumbnail than the rodeo clown beck has in his whole body

rush is, and always will be the godfather. nobody knows pure politics like him.

savage? please. he’s a moron. levin kicks his a$$ in ratings all over the place, even in savages home base of frisco

sidewinder22 on September 17, 2009 at 12:07 AM

For Politics, I wish Rush would quit now so Mark Steyn could take over. But whoever they are, they are all a distant 2nd to Michael Savage — the KING!! By the way, Mark Levin unnerves me…I just can’t stick with him long enough to pay attention ..

PaulMorphy on September 16, 2009 at 11:34 PM

Mark Steyn is awesome, but nobody holds a candle to Rush … nobody!

Savage gets on my nerves. He hates everyone. Plus He’s all over the map and constantly criticizes Hannity, Rush, Beck as well as FNC. I prefer consistency. When it comes to ego … Savage wins hands down.

redridinghood on September 17, 2009 at 12:08 AM

I just watched Hannity. I got there late before. Breitbart says they weren’t ever kicked out on the premise that they were doing something illegal or wrong.

So that Philly story maybe true as far as there was a disturbance… and they left.

That is a scary thought. Obama hasn’t had too much time but he moved fast to get all that money pledged to ACORN.

So much money.

We can only imagine the America that could have been so corrupted by ACORN, SEIU, AND ALL THAT MONEY!!! It just makes me sick.

petunia on September 17, 2009 at 12:13 AM

You’re all modern-day McCarthyites for watching this. You know that, right?

Oh, did they take their camera to the State Department?

HotWeaver on September 17, 2009 at 12:22 AM

That police report in Phillie didn’t identify the person(s) causing the disturbance in any way, as far as I could tell. It may very well have been completely unrelated.

As for Levin, he’s been complaining for months that Beck steals his material and doesn’t give attribution. One night he said Beck lifted a paragraph from his book. The other night he said that the hosts at 5 and 8 pm haven’t mentioned his book at all. He hasn’t used Beck’s name at all unless it was tonight, out of deference to Hannity, who doesn’t want Beck’s name to be “slandered” or whatever.

I love Levin, but he might want to take a page from Rush’s book and ignore all of the other talk show hosts.

Google gives the address of ACORN S Bdo as
1490 N. D. Street Suite A. San Bernardino, CA 92405

If you google that address it gives several dead links to appraisers and doctor’s addresses.

I do not think ACORN has been there 4 years.

Eh? Paul McCartney? Joe McCarthy? Eh, whatever, you say tomato, I say potato.

Shouldn’t the captain go down with the ship?

The one never does anything himself, he will appoint new Czar as captain and tell him to trust him that the ship can not sink, and the sharks are harmless.

Franklyn on September 17, 2009 at 4:22 AM

If this was recorded a full four years ago, I don’t really understand why it is being released now. But given the verbal introductions on a couple of the video’s, O’Keefe claims that August 2009 is when the video’s were recorded.

It would appear that he made an amaterish mistake. The workers that were fired were current employees and there was nothing to indicate by ACORN alleges otherwise. We have seen the interviews and clearly Hannah is not four years younger.

Franklyn on September 17, 2009 at 4:45 AM

Is there an explanation for the date on the film? These were not filmed in 2005 were they?
alesian_siege on September 16,

Is there an explanation for the date on the film?

Most likely the explanation is along the line of “why my VCR” has been blinking 12:00 for years.

These were not filmed in 2005 were they?

No and day, date, time an issue here?

These are/were Acorn employees in offices that Acorn has. Acorn has already this all happened a couple of months ago.

I see it now. I was having a lot of trouble reading the cop’s handwriting and I overlooked the name. D’OH! It looks like the report said the “below male” was gone when the police arrived and they advised the caller. So did O’Keefe give them his real name? It happened on 7-24-09.

darwin-t on September 17, 2009 at 7:03 AM

Well come on guys, Hannah is pret-ty hot.

Reaps on September 17, 2009 at 7:11 AM

I’ve never understood why people keep the date on their home movies anyway. What’s the point, unless it’s a police dashboard cam? Just write the date on the friggin tape and film with a clear screen. Dammit every home video you see on the TV has that date crap plastered all over it. It’s like turning it off is one of those skills that humans have for some reason never mastered, like setting the timer on a VCR.

Sharke on September 16, 2009 at 11:02 PM

With family videos I agree, but with like this the timestamps makes it more difficult to seamlessly edit the tapes.

Do ACORN offices have security cameras ?

becki51758 on September 17, 2009 at 8:15 AM

He refers to Beck as ‘the Backbencher’ and lost me as a listener, that and his penchant for reading his book on air instead of doing current research on a current topic until they pass him by. Then he will go on the air at 6 pm Eastern and talk about how he is ahead of all the other radio hosts because they do the next day what he did he previous day. The fact that they air before the stories he speaks of break. Don’t get me wrong he’s a brilliant man but his pettiness is boorish.

I don’t think Levin is referring to Glenn Beck, he is referring to Michael Savage, and there is no question that he holds much disdain for him. I could be wrong, but I have never heard him refer specifically to Beck in a negative way. I like Glenn, but he is no Limbaugh – Limbaugh’s bit on racism earlier this week was pure genius!

+100 Also, Levin is too petty due to fighting w/Beck but his law practice does great work supporting conservative causes. He is on late at night here and I tune in because he puts me right to sleep. Hannity keeps repeating the same things. I’m sick of hearing O’Reilly apologize because he missed a story. His 60 – 75,000 estimate of the crowd at DC is way off. I’ve been among many crowds (football, fireworks, NASCAR) and I’ve never seen anything like DC.

Beck is creative and he must have a great research team. He’s always fresh and entertaining. I’ve been starting to listen to Hugh Hewitt – he’s pretty humorous. I can’t miss Sunday nights w/Bill Cunningham.

IMHO

HellCat on September 17, 2009 at 8:39 AM

Levin is just being a lapdog for his buddy Hannity in this whole mess between him and Glenn Beck. Hannity is jealous as hell of Beck’s success on FNC but he doesn’t want to arouse the wrath of his bosses at Fox by attacking him directly. So he gets his little pet poodle, Mark Levin, to do it for him. That’s the real story. I don’t think Levin has ever had an original thought in his life.

Savage is a certifiable narcissist. He’s less tolerable than Obooba in that regard, in that Obooba retains a vestige of childish naivete.

Michael Savage is a bitter crank who can’t tell us often enough what a hero and genius he is, and accomodates callers relative to their obsequiousness.
