Video: Colossal jackass really sorry or something

posted at 4:37 pm on September 15, 2009 by Allahpundit

A palate cleanser from last night’s Leno debut to tide you over while we wait for the atomic ACORN bomb to drop and the House floor vote on Joe Wilson’s censure. How sorry is this douche for ruining that poor kid’s moment? So sorry that it didn’t occur to him to call and apologize to her until she appeared on “The View” this morning and mentioned that, no indeed, she hadn’t heard from him yet. Someone on his management team must have seen it and taken the hint because the call was duly placed shortly thereafter and all is now right with the world.

Leno’s audience showed no disapproval, natch. Nice job by Jay, though, in milking the faux pathos of the moment by asking about his mom. Exit question: Will you join me in standing with our president in this moment of national crisis?

“My mom died and it turned me into a roaring asshole.”

I’m sorry I punked you all! Wow! Only in America where you screw up and get millions of dollars in publicity. You people are easy.

Why give this buffoon anymore exposure?

Knucklehead on September 15, 2009 at 4:41 PM

Most unimportant news item of the day.

He got pub for Kanye, Taylor, VMA, and now the new Leno show. Seriously, he must be a marketing genius. It cost him nothing.

Come on… If the races were reversed, as in a white male snatched the mic from a black females hand… riots in would be in progress as we read this.

Obama’s America.

Yeah, but it’s great for her career.

Er… what’s her name again?

Who turned Leno into his mother?

I also think he looked like a 2 year old…kind of weird.

tomas on September 15, 2009 at 4:43 PM

Sorry, I forgot… Mr. Jackass is a racist, sexist turd.

RalphyBoy on September 15, 2009 at 4:43 PM

Who the hell is this guy and should I know who he is?

Of course he’s a jackass, they all are. That’s why he’s a celebrity.

His career as a recording artist should be over. Let him use what little talent he has working at a drive thru window.

meci on September 15, 2009 at 4:46 PM

He needs to be censured by BET.

Fletch54 on September 15, 2009 at 4:46 PM

Does anybody really believe that Taylor Swift would have any trouble stealing a guy away from another girl? I agree with Kanye! The video is stupid, and the song is absurd. Of course, the same could be said about ALL the videos at the VMAs, but I haven’t seen them, so w/e. I wish I could storm the stage for every one of them and steal their awards and give them to real musicians, not these idiots created by record producers.

keebs on September 15, 2009 at 4:47 PM

So if Rep. Wilson was on the show would the audience be equally understanding? No? How about if he was drunk, because apparently that adds to the sympathy of the public?

Cindy Munford on September 15, 2009 at 4:47 PM

So, the president finally tags a brother right. He was acting like a jackass, and the POTUS called him on it. Good on him.

I’m surprised Taylor Swift wasn’t denigrated for “acting stupidly” for taking Beyonce’s award. Does Taylor get a beer moment with TOTUS and Kantyo, er whatever, up at the White House for a little troof about race.

Why can’t guys like this just sit down and STFU sometimes?

ted c on September 15, 2009 at 4:48 PM

Kanye West’s Mother died. = Sad.

Kanye West’s father a Black Panther. = It’s all so clear now.

portlandon on September 15, 2009 at 4:49 PM

Kane is in deep $hit with his homies and he knows it. Screw him!

GarandFan on September 15, 2009 at 4:50 PM

I tell ya what. Somebody invite Kanye to present an award on the CMAs. That would draw viewership and also might provide a memorable momemt.

kingsjester on September 15, 2009 at 4:51 PM

Haven’t you heard? Kanye will appear on Letterman, 60 minutes, and probably all of the Sunday talk shows. He made news, man.

mobydutch on September 15, 2009 at 4:52 PM

Obama thought Kanye was great before the election…….and when he was making comments about Bush/Katrina. This punk is just a racist and should not be allowed to speak in public.

sherryande on September 15, 2009 at 4:52 PM

Kanye’s lucky his momma’s already dead. If she was alive, it would have either killed her of embarrassment or she would have kicked Kanye’s own sorry ass for acting like a fool.

Kanye West and Serena Williams have lived out fantasy lives filled with great wealth and adulation starting at a very young age. Even before their success, they were never deprived. West’s mom is a college professor, and the Williams family was not impoverished – you can’t raise two tennis stars in poverty. Still they are filled with resentment. Not unlike our President.

rokemronnie on September 15, 2009 at 4:53 PM

I hear he’s very smart. Maybe we can have him give us recommendations on:

1) Global Warming Climate Change

2) Health Care Insurance Reform

3) The Middle East Da Joooos!

perroviejo on September 15, 2009 at 4:53 PM

I tuned into the Leno show and caught the Kanye stubborn apology. Yes he was shamed, but has a belligerent streak that prevented him from a full confession to completely clear the air. Leno handled it appropriately, thanking Kanye for showing up, reminded Kanye that Jay had met his mother on a former occasion, and then asked Kanye what his mother thought of what he had done. I was almost afraid of a “Yo mama” rebuttal. Kanye was dumbfounded. He owes Leno for helping him face the public appropriately.

Turned off the TV rather than listen to him rap.

Obama actually sounds relaxed there.

In any case, why is Kanye not racist in this case?

Phoenician on September 15, 2009 at 4:55 PM

The timing on these events is just too convenient. Is anyone as skeptical as I am and suspect Jay and this Kanye con man (or their agents) set this up?

PaCadle on September 15, 2009 at 4:55 PM

I have always thought of Kanye West as a colossal waste of flesh, and I certainly don’t wish to see anymore space devoted to him here.

Was it just me, or was this like a glimpse into a really awkward and necessary counseling session?

He’s ‘sorry’ for the short term, suuure…but, alas, it’s only a matter of time before his inner 3 year old tantrum having self rears his ugly head again. Not to mention, that inner 3 year old is a raging racist ;)

From Talking Points Memo tomorrow: “That conservatives expressed scorn for Kanye West following his bold statement at the MTV Awards show demonstrates fully and undeniably their racist-rooted fear of black men. The image of West accosting Taylor Swift conjured in the tortured minds of conservatives scary tales from their childhood of black men raping helpless, virgin blonde white Southern women. /satire off

FlameWarrior on September 15, 2009 at 5:01 PM

Anybody besides me have loved to see Taylor just beat Kanye helplessly with some crazy ninja-jitsu, krav maga, butt whoopin?

Now that would bring ratings.

Buck Turgidson on September 15, 2009 at 5:06 PM

His father is Ray West, a former Black Panther who was one of the first black photojournalists at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and is now a Christian counselor. West’s mother, Dr. Donda West, was a Professor of English at Clark Atlanta University, and the Chair of the English Department at Chicago State University before retiring to serve as West’s manager. –wiki

Ray West, former Black Panther, now a Christian counselor: Would that be Black Liberation Theology?

His mother was so adept in her English studies and lectures, that she Chaired a university’s English Department. Then she managed Kanye’s rapping career. Something’s very crooked here, as she not only failed to teach her own son to value the English language (and to treat a lady with respect), but she pimped his rap work to corrupt the lives of so many for thug blood money. There was no such excuse of “needing the money” having already enjoyed a full and rich professional career. Disgusting.

Ugh.

maverick muse on September 15, 2009 at 5:06 PM

Fred Thompson had some choice words to say regarding Kanye’s offense given his Tennessee neighbor.

I’ve watched Taylor Swift from the beginning, when she signed with Big Machine Records, her first and to this day recording company.

For those who don’t know, she’s had hit after hit after hit since then, and she writes all her own stuff. And co-produces most of her videos, which also are hits.

At 19, she has more God-given talent in one finger than this punk could ever muster even when sober or clean.

He was heavily booed when he interrupted her acceptance speech, something I was somewhat surprised by, frankly.

And Beyonce, who herself is a class act, handled the whole thing quite admirably, further showing West as the ass he is.

TXUS on September 15, 2009 at 5:31 PM

I nominate Mr. Kanye for Narcissism Czar.
Oops! We already Mr. Kenya fulfilling that role.

Aww, Kanye
Are you really sorry?
Or just sorry, because this is going to hurt your album sales?

He was born a roaring assh0le, he still is a roaring assh0le, he’ll die a roaring assh0le.

If I listened to this jitbag’s music, I wouldn’t be listening anymore. He’s just more trash on the heap as far as I’m concerned, and I don’t give a heaping wad of attention to trash until it turns up in the Pacific gyre.

Spiritk9 on September 15, 2009 at 5:53 PM

PaCadle on September 15, 2009 at 4:55 PM

I agree. This was a set-up from the get-go, so Leno could get good ratings on his first show. His questions were scripted, as were West’s responses. Any time there’s a question of why someone does something, just follow the money. This money goes to NBC.

I could not agree more!

After hearing her “Tim McGraw” song, I thought she had enormous promise, but has FAR exceeded my expectations. Saw her perform in Boston, and loved every minute of it, as did the entire crowd.

God bless her, she’s one of a kind.

Sweet_Thang on September 15, 2009 at 6:32 PM

This SPOILED-Brat-LOSER’s 15 minutes have obviously been 14.75 minutes TOO LONG.

I’ll bet a crisp new ‘Franklin’ if his Mama was alive she’d SLAP his FACE – and deservedly so. (and I’m one that bristles at the very notion of striking one’s child anywhere but on their tush)

Gee what a shock–a classes rapper disses a white girl in front of a national(???) audience. He’s losing more points to the home boys for his apologies after than for being an ass at the award program!

chickasaw42 on September 15, 2009 at 8:53 PM

Narcissistic, egotistical imbecile. I don’t care what he does, but what he is offends me.

sharinlite on September 15, 2009 at 9:02 PM

Meh, it’s what he always does, acts like the jackass he is and then does the apology schtick that most people know is insincere at best. Unfortunately, his colleagues in the music biz and plenty of the music listening public are more than dumb enough to fall for it…….again.

clearbluesky on September 15, 2009 at 9:34 PM

The idiots applauding him when he walked out? Obama supporters no doubt. That’s the future of our once great nation.

long_cat on September 16, 2009 at 12:19 AM

Is it racist to say that if he ever tried to take something out of my hand I would beat the shit out of his black ass? Like all libtards he picks his shots and would only pull that crap on a white woman. Who’s the racist?

jarhead0311 on September 16, 2009 at 1:25 AM

Kanye is a racist. He would never have done that to a black woman.

I don’t buy his apology, either. I couldn’t understand most of it because he can’t put an intelligent sentence together.

Mr Purple on September 16, 2009 at 4:57 AM

Not interested in the story itself, but I want to comment on Obama’s jackass comment.

Shouldn’t our president brush up (Cliff Notes) on his knowledge in areas of economics, foreign affairs, international relationships, or by Gosh our Constitution? By reading and reading lots of relevant books?

By now, everybody realizes this is a lazy and not-well-read-at-all guy at the helm steering the ship. Yet he spent his time on music award shows or dancing with the stars or something.

It’s a grand, statesmanlike gesture, AP, and I support the President 100%. Kanye West is most definitely a jackass.

Jaibones on September 16, 2009 at 8:22 AM

Rap is a burning paper bag on the porch of music history. West is the excrement inside the bag.
It’s hard to imagine anything more coarse and vile than rap but I’m confident some bright entrepreneurial type will scrape something from some putrid dungheap and pass it off as the next big thing in music to excited masses of morons.
As a lover of liberty I have to accept this reality, but I damn sure don’t have to listen to it.
