House Democrat: If we don’t censure Joe Wilson, the KKK will ride through the countryside

posted at 3:25 pm on September 15, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via the Blog Prof. Nothing new here — remember, James Clyburn already compared town-hall protesters to goons who attacked civil-rights marchers — but between this and Howard Kurtz’s argument this morning that it’s racist to shout at Obama about the Constitution, I think the “post-racial presidency” can be safely pronounced dead and buried. It was always a fraud, of course, starting with the racial insinuations directed at the Clintons by Team Barry, on through the general election when accusations about McCain’s alleged racism would slip oh so innocently from The One’s lips (ask Mark Salter about that), and right up to the present day, when a guy who never seems to stop talking somehow can’t be bothered to speak up when his pals on the left pinch off poisonous loaves like this. Even so, the cynicism of it during the ObamaCare debate, as an Alinskyan tactic to demonize good-faith opponents of Obama’s agenda, is simply breathtaking. Take 10 minutes to read Jesse Walker’s critique at Reason of how the left demagogues “right-wing extremism” to serve its ends. It’s an essential gloss on this garbage.

Fun fact about Johnson: He’s the guy who upset Cynthia McKinney in the Democratic primary in 2006, with the full support of the blogosphere eager for a more credible, less radical congressman to represent that district. Here’s how much more credible he is.

Thats the “Logical conclusion”…? I fail to see the logic. maybe its’ logical in Raaaaaaciiiiist Land…

@ntif@n on September 15, 2009 at 7:02 PM

The scum of the Earth are running our country… or at least The House of Representatives. When is enough going to be enough? 2010? I sure hope so.

Griz on September 15, 2009 at 7:08 PM

Ya know, I used to be intimated when someone threw a lit “race card” into the pile. No more! These people are running out of ammunition against logic and reason (which reminds me of a GREAT sign at the Fort Worth protest this past Saturday: Confuse a liberal, use logic and reason). SO, when they cry RACIST in a crowded movie theatre, it’s the desperation getting to them. He has no idea what to do next and thinks that more interviews are the answer.

PULEEZE more interviews. This guy is so narcissistic he doesn’t realize that his numbers go down when he’s on TV. He’s like the little train that could…go off a cliff.

Yellowdog12 on September 15, 2009 at 7:11 PM

Oh, I forgot…

RACIST!

Yellowdog12 on September 15, 2009 at 7:12 PM

No matter who the African American politician is, the cry of “racism” is used when anyone disagrees or has an opposing point of view. Solution: no more African American politicians. There. It’s done. Wait, not fair? Then can the crap and put the “race card” back in the deck and put it away. You want to play cards? Then play by the rules.

Exactly – he’s out of tread and is just spinning his wheels. He should have made a visit to the pits about 10 laps ago to get those tires changed.

Lot’s of smoke and smell of burning rubber – but the car ain’t going around the track no more.

I’m waiting for something that backs up this comment.

And Tex — The cream of Southern racism entrusted their children to black people, so your argument is unpersuasive. Not that I’m calling you a racist, just that the “some of my best friends…” argument is a non-starter.

And you must be horribly threatened by Justice Sotomayor (whome somebody else brought into this thread) to find this moderate, even boring jurist a racial extremist. You should be more confident in your masculine whiteitude. She’s a liberal, I’ll give you that. But a race warrior? Nope.

Bleeds Blue on September 15, 2009 at 7:21 PM

Screw the KKK, the democrats are far worse than the worse racist I’ve ever come across.

HAHAHAHAHAHA…..(gasp)….HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Storybec on September 15, 2009 at 7:25 PM

This thread is about a black congressman claiming that an outburst of “you lied” during the POTUS’ address to congress, was in fact a racist thing to do, and that if not adressed, will lead to the return of the KKK with Joe Wilson at its head.

TexasDan on September 15

And lets not forget that Obama was in fact lying, that is why the Senate had to go back and remove that part that Obama insisted didn’t exist.

Remember
Senator Ted Kennedy declared, from the well of the United States Senate, that
“before the [Iraq] war, week after week after week after week,

we were told lie after lie after lie after lie.”

Where was the outrage?

DSchoen on September 15, 2009 at 7:31 PM

I’m afraid to be considered a bigot, so when a person of color speaks I just nod. Sometimes I just stare into space (similar to Taylor Swift) unable to react without feeling I’ve made a faux pas. I think this is the way MLK would have wanted me to react to those of different ethnicity.

Chris_Balsz on September 15, 2009 at 8:13 PM

Clyburn holds a high leadership position in the House. He has repeatedly tarred people who oppose Obamacare as racists – not just as passive racists, but as similar to racists who attacked blacks in the ’60′s. I hope the Republicans can publicize this.

All this crazy talk out of Clyburn, Johnson and similar is great for Republicans. It’s going to really turn off the independents. This is why Obama doesn’t want talk of race. These idiots are hurting dems and helping us. Let’s hope they keep it up.

MCGIRV on September 15, 2009 at 8:24 PM

think the “post-racial presidency” can be safely pronounced dead and buried. It was always a fraud, of course

To be a fraud wouldn’t Obama have to have purported it to be true in the first place? Can you show me where he did?

The post-racial crap is just a strawman set up by you guys so you can gleefully knock it down.

crr6 on September 15, 2009 at 3:48 PM

Well there you go! If Obama didn’t specifically make that exact claim, then obviously nobody else could have!

You’re pretty good with the strawmen yourself.

chickasaw42 on September 15, 2009 at 8:58 PM

Kanye is a well-documented Obama supporter, and you’re the racist, racist.

TMK on September 14, 2009 at 10:38 AM

Puleeze!!! Folks, why do you engage in the labeling game of the liberals and minorities? Can’t you see that calling someone a racist is a tactic developed of necessity by those outside of the ruling side? Claims of racism are little more than a futile protest by the have-nots against those who wield the real power in society. Since they can’t achieve their goals, they attempt to make the victors feel somehow guilty about the victory. Don’t buy into it.

An accusation of racism against you should be a clear indication that your opponent is competing with you from a position of weakness. Trying to turn the tables on him by saying that he, actually, is the racist in the room only legitimizes the initial accusation.

It’s not necessary to run from an accusation of racism. It serves only to confirm your position of strength. The attack is neutralized if you don’t acknowledge it as damaging. The balance of power remains the same. In order to change that balance more towards his favor, your attacker must work actively and productively within the system to improve the lot of his side. That is the only way to real equality.

So, don’t consider it shameful when someone throws the “r” word at you. Consider it an acknowledgment that your side, political or otherwise, is the winning side and that your opponent is too weak to take his fate into his own hands.

He did it then and he does it now with the MSM taking the lead and trying to keep him alive in this game.

Charlie Gibson hadn’t heard about ACORN scandal but is up to snuff on the race issue. Bull Shit

Good grief, this must be conspiracy night.

Besides hearing this know-nothing buffoon from an affirmative action district in Georgia, I see 30 seconds of NBC Nightly News and Brian Williams interviewing the most white-race hating, Israel-bashing, Palestinian-loving failure of a chief executive in the last 35 years JimmehCawtahPeenutFahmah repeating the buffoon’s “I’m worried about racists” diatribe.

They have a lot of nerve yapping about civility! LIARS!

ExpressoBold on September 15, 2009 at 9:50 PM

Did he mention logic in there somewhere? There wasn’t anything logical about what he said. Using his logic, his hair is white so that must make him a racist. We’ve gone so far off the deep end. I remember I pointed out to my liberal sister-in-law during the election that everyone cries racist when opposing Obama. I hate being right sometimes.

Speaking of logic: I was writing to a friend earlier today.

It seems either I’m too old, or something–people just don’t seem to communicate the way they used to, or words don’t mean what they used to–it’s frustrating. I feel kind of like I’m in a fun house, but everyone is saying that what’s in the mirrors are the real images, and what I’m seeing in the mirror at home is the wacky one. Under those conditions it is frustrating, on the level of cognitive dissidence, and it leaves me with only a couple of choices–to only talk to people who are seeing things the way I am, or just stop talking about the things that matter to me.

Here’s an example of what I mean by “fun house”–after the senator from SC said “You lie,” during the Pres Obama’s speech, Maureen Dowd writes a column stating that the senator barely restrained himself from adding the word “boy,” after saying “You lie.” How does she know this? Mindreading? No it’s logical–he’s a white Republican from a Southern state, Southern Republicans are racists, therefore he would obviously have added that racist word. Now back when Mr. Lawson [my HS debate coach] was teaching us in debate class, that would have gotten tagged for using a premise that assumes the conclusion. Not in the fun house. In the fun house, “It’s obvious,” and I skimmed about 420 comments on that editorial and saw only one person that took issue with her logic. These are the best and brightest readers of the NYT, the “paper of record,” mind you.

smellthecoffee on September 15, 2009 at 10:37 PM

Geez, Hank, did the Senate censure Obama for belonging to a racist, Black Liberation Theology Church, did they Hank? How about Robert Byrd, an ACTUAL KKK member who filibustered the civil rights act in 1964? Do you have a problem with Byrd, Hank? Is this just bullshit partisan policrap, Hank?

Get used to it, punks. Does civility work? Heck no… even Hot Air didn’t bother covering Rep. Charles Boustany’s response to Obama’s newspeak medical industry address. Milquetoast just doesn’t sell in any universe.

Mad as hell is the only sane response to the progressive attack on the Constitution.

mozalf on September 16, 2009 at 9:51 AM

Obama claims post racial while his minions beat everybody with the racism hammer.

The funny thing, and probably a side effect not thought about by the left, is that when Obama was elected, a good deal of the guilt went with him. Now the “racism” card doesn’t work because all we do is point to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and say, “not anymore.”

It will take time to for them to get up to speed, but soon they’ll realize we just don’t care.

Man, I’ve got to quit watching so much SiFi with the kids.
On the other hand, there could be an argument made we are living in some kind of alternate universe, where up is down and down is up, and everything critical about Obama is over race, and Barney Frank now denies he ever supported Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Where a man, who is President, can swear he’s not lying this time when he says that taking on millions of more patients with an already over budgeted and inefficient system in place will somehow save money.

Atlanta Media Guy on September 16, 2009 at 12:29 PM

All of this dismissive posturing of dissent as “racism” is going to backfire eventually. Yes, there are plenty of dupes who will swallow it, but there are still plenty of thinking individuals who will a.) see the validity of the protests based on the issues; b.) grow weary of the constant racial harping and realize it’s a political ploy.

The more the Democrats keep up this heated name-calling, the more they weaken their claims.
