Maybe no one is reading this thread anymore-but my 2 cents is this:
My husband & I ranch in ND-we do not farm.
Many farmers I know are dependent upon govt subsidies in one form or another.
Unfortunately, the system has been rigged to work in favor of being beholden to govt $$.
The only way you will ever be able to be a farmer,or rancher, is:
1. to inherit everything
2. marry into it
3. Be a big corporation with lots of assets (looking for a tax break?)
4. Be a Big AgBiz corp.
I don't give a crap what the big Ag giants & shills say: Bi ag & cap & trade will be the final death of the family farm & ranch.
Alan Gubert,ag columnist, recently wrote that we should rejoice on cap & trade & roll in the $$ as it comes in.
I do not want to be a govt whore taking their $$ just to stay in business.
This cap & trade will be all our death knell in the family ag industry.
Do you want coporate farms? Do you really think they always have the best interests of the land & animals at heart?
Something's gotta give-soon.
I am tired of the Walmartiziation of America & the world.
This will cinch it.
Pretty soon, there will only be one or 2 corporation that provide the entire WORLD with the food that people do not individually grow themselves.
That alone should scare the hell out of you.

Can't afford medical care?

No problem! Obamacare will take care of that.

Food prices soaring due to cap'n'trade?

No problem! Death Panels coming to a supermarket near you!

Yes it all makes sense now... kill the poor and eat the rich.

Criminy, do you buy it in gold lined bottles or something?
It’s only $2.39 around here.

I've seen quart bottles of milk for $1.69 in CT, which works out to $6.76 per gallon. To get it cheaper, you need to buy more at a time, and drink it before it goes bad.

Using corn to make ethanol doesn't even cut CO2 emissions. For an equal amount of energy released, ethanol releases about the same amount of CO2 as gasoline, and then there's the fuel burned by farm machinery planting and reaping the corn. The total corn-to-ethanol cycle therefore emits MORE CO2 than simply burning gasoline.

As for prices of other foods, cap-and-trade would also increase electricity costs, which would increase the cost of refrigerating perishable food at wholesale and retail stores, who would pass the costs along to consumers.

Hundreds of experiments have shown that plants grow faster and have higher crop yields in an atmosphere enriched in CO2. Why not let the CO2 into the atmosphere and enjoy a greener, more fertile Earth? A growing world population might need the extra food...

Ok, I have been asking this question for awhile. So maybe a big brain or at least someone with resources can shed some light for me.

How much affect will C&T have on the Healthcare Industry. Takes alot to just keep the lights and heart monitors on in a Hospital. I also imagine that sterilized medical equipment(IV's, Bandages, Scalpels, leeches) take quite a bit of energy to produce. Anyone even concidering this in the Healthcare Conversations?

Once Ogabe has forced the price of food through the roof he can come in and start price controls on food items. Of course only state sanctioned food items will be allowed to be produced. It worked so well for the soviets, Chavez, and Mugabe.

Cause he's the wax man...yeah....the wax man!

One, two, three, four...
Hrmm!
One, two, (one, two, three, four!)

Let me tell you how it will be;
There's one for you, nineteen for me.
'Cause I'm the wax man,
Yeah, I'm the wax man.

Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don't take it all.
'Cause I'm the wax man,
Yeah, I'm the wax man.

(if you drive a car, car;) - I'll tax the street;
(if you try to sit, sit;) - I'll tax your seat;
(if you get too cold, cold;) - I'll tax the heat;
(if you take a walk, walk;) - I'll tax your feet.

Wax man!

'Cause I'm the wax man,
Yeah, I'm the wax man.

Don't ask me what I want it for, (ah-ah, mister Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more. (ah-ah, mister heath)
'Cause I'm the wax man,
Yeah, I'm the wax man.

Now my advice for those who die, (wax man)
Declare the pennies on your eyes. (wax man)
'Cause I'm the wax man,
Yeah, I'm the wax man.

And you're working for no one but me.

Waxman!

Ed,

Not to poo poo the chart, but come on....predictions of job losses in 2035? They might as well try to pick the super bowl winners in 2035. I dont' doubt for a minute that this bill is bad for the economy. But claiming job losses 25 years in the future makes it less believable.
