Video: Kanye West’s place in jackass hall of fame now secure

posted at 12:19 am on September 14, 2009 by Allahpundit

It’s been secure for years, actually, and not just because of the infamous “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” crack. This isn’t the first time he’s acted like a royal A-hole at an awards show; in fact, it’s not even the first time he’s rushed the stage during an acceptance speech to protest the winner. That happened a few years ago at the MTV Europe Awards. Even so, I salute him: In this season of political turmoil, Americans are finally united in hatred of his pure, preening douchebaggery. No small accomplishment.

Taylor Swift, who’s all of 19 years old, evidently was spotted “crying hysterically” backstage afterwards, although she managed to pull it together in time to reappear during Beyonce’s moment of graciousness at the end of the show. The boss has video of that. Exit quotation from Karl, imagining an Obama-orchestrated West/Swift beer summit: “Let me be clear: I didn’t watch the VMAs, so I don’t have all the facts. But Taylor Swift acted stupidly.”

Update: That didn’t take long.

You’re naive, to be perfectly frank. There are over a billion Muslims worldwide. Islam has been around for 1400 years and its as strong now as its been in a while. It’s not going away any time soon. And you can’t destroy it.

Now, that doesn’t mean the situation is hopeless. But it does mean your misguided mission is.

2Brave2Bscared on September 14, 2009 at 6:53 AM

2) Islam is evil and hence there should Crusades part deux. Anything less is a sell out.

promachus on September 14, 2009 at 6:46 AM

We don’t need crusades, but anyone with familiarity of Islam knows it’s really a flimsy religious veneer covering a racist and brutal political system that is completely incompatible with Western ideas of liberty.

The sooner we stop considering Islam a religion and start treating it like the imperialistic political theory it is, the better.

TMK on September 14, 2009 at 6:54 AM

Not that I am practicing moral relativism, the same can be said of Judaism or Christianity or practically any belief system. However, only in certain moments in history, these systems will activate themselves into hegemonies and only then they are threats. Dormant and nascent ideologies are interesting but not relevant.

So, it doesn’t matter if Islamist theory is racial imperialism in disguise (that’s its Semitic heritage). It’s when theory become practice that we should start worrying.

To clarify to those who are going on and on about Islam is the problem and denigrating war on terror– was Koran the same in 1950 when Shah of Iran was our ally? Yes. Was Islamic terrorism a threat? No. But was it a threat after 1977 and is it now? Yes.

There’s no point in going all essentialist after Islam and argue “Islam” is the problem itself. It isn’t. No matter how quaint its religious texts are.

promachus on September 14, 2009 at 7:08 AM

Why is it a threat to us today as opposed to then? Has the Koran changed? No. What’s changed is that since then we have allowed millions of Muslims entrance into our lands. That’s how they were able to fly planes into our buildings. That’s why demographically they’re taking over and transforming Europe (and we’re next if we don’t wake up).

And if you think this is our first dealing with Islamic terrorism, trying this on for size.

Although there is much in the history of America’s wars with the Barbary pirates that is of direct relevance to the current “war on terror,” one aspect seems particularly instructive to informing our understanding of contemporary Islamic terrorists. Very simply put, the Barbary pirates were committed, militant Muslims who meant to do exactly what they said.

Take, for example, the 1786 meeting in London of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the Tripolitan ambassador to Britain. As American ambassadors to France and Britain respectively, Jefferson and Adams met with Ambassador Adja to negotiate a peace treaty and protect the United States from the threat of Barbary piracy.

These future United States presidents questioned the ambassador as to why his government was so hostile to the new American republic even though America had done nothing to provoke any such animosity. Ambassador Adja answered them, as they reported to the Continental Congress, “that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.”

Hmm. Sounds like what they’re still saying today.

Yes, you are practicing moral relativism. You can find no justification for beheading, torture, terrorism, piracy, empire-building, or any of the other brutal practices of Islam in Christ’s teaching, no matter how you wish it was there.

And if you are turning to the SO VERY OLD Old Testament to justify your relativism, have fun trying to find a Canaanite to slay.

I see a certain “paradox” here. The more like Christ a Christian is the better person he likely is. The more like Mohammad a Muslim is the worse person he likely is. So I guess we should all want Christians to be good at being Christians and Muslims to be poor at being Muslims. Frankly the best Muslims seem to be those who are not very good at being Muslims.

I know what you said. My point is that there are still millions of “radical” Muslims around the world either already engaging in Jihad, preparing for it, or sitting on the sidelines waiting for their name to be called. And the pipeline isn’t running dry.

My point is that even this…

those take up arms because of it. It is the latter who should be destroyed

is delusional. You can’t kill millions of Muslims or destroy the Koranic texts that inspire them.

Just glanced over and got the basic idea, I think:

I subscribe to the now tiny but, I believe, some-day-to-be prevalent Separationist School of Western-Islamic Relations. We separationists affirm the following:
• Islam is a mortal threat to our civilization.
• But we cannot destroy Islam.
• Nor can we democratize Islam.
• Nor can we assimilate Islam.
• Therefore the only way to make ourselves safe from Islam is to separate ourselves from Islam.

I’m still reading quickly through, but haven’t seen many specifics of how this ‘seperation’ would be implemented practically. How is that to be done? Is there a Final Solution?

AsianGirlInTights on September 14, 2009 at 7:20 AM

I’d always taken it as shorthand for “Jew”.

Murder,Rape, and Suicide also comes to mind!!:)

canopfor on September 14, 2009 at 7:39 AM

And lying, slavery, torture. I guess I was using mayhem in a rather broad inclusive sense.

To all those who say radical Islam can’t be defeated, there were those who said communism can’t be defeated and it had millions of adherent as well. But we did defeat it in the end. So will we in the case of Islamist terror.

promachus on September 14, 2009 at 7:43 AM

He’s surrounded by ghetto thugs in his industry, but he’s a white class poseur, a lot more like his white, suburban sissy fans than the gangsters. So he thinks that stunts like this will fool someone, but I can’t imagine who. This is more like acting up in school than anything else. They should send him to the Principal’s office.

What a pansy.

Are you talking about Kanye West or the filthy liar in the White House?

The video is still up at tmz.com. It is heart breaking. The shock and horror on her face brought tears to my eyes.

milwife88 on September 14, 2009 at 7:44 AM

so what did Canoe West blather this time?

Cause I ain’t clicking yo!

sven10077 on September 14, 2009 at 7:44 AM

The real issue here is Kayne West’s racism…the issue no one wants to talk about.

We cannot imagine the outcry if a white man had done this to a black woman.

Or the black woman tennis player verbally abusing a white woman on national tv?

Of course, the liberals would be all over this one if it was the other way around since the race card is always the trick up their sleeve.

Earth to, promachus, we have communists in our government. One was even forced to resign recently. Van Jones, not sure if you’ve heard of him…

Black guys today can’t sing. Nat King Cole, Barry White, now they could sing.

Balanced by no less acts of barbarity on the part of Europeans.

What? That’s a rather broad brush …

Lehosh on September 14, 2009 at 7:43 AM

Not me. Some take opposition to Obama as shorthand for racism for that matter. I link to Diana West “all the time”, including a number of times tonight, and I think she is probably Jewish, she posts at http://jewishworldreview.com anyway, and is certainly no “neocon”, in fact quite the opposite.

Makes me wish Trace Adkins had won.

Not even sure what the category was, if it’s even possible.

Hell, quite a few female country singers could kick Kanye’s little ass, I imagine.

reaganaut on September 14, 2009 at 7:52 AM

That’s not really an answer, is it?

AsianGirlInTights on September 14, 2009 at 7:43 AM

That’s because it wasn’t supposed to be an answer. That’s what the links were for.

2Brave2Bscared on September 14, 2009 at 7:53 AM

And in all the descriptions of this incident the writers say that Beyonce looked “astonished” and “horrified”… Sorry. She looked a bit surprised, she did not look “horrified” at all, she was still smiling.

I am an unbeliever myself but when I think of Christ I think of love and sacrifice. When I think of Mohammad I think of hate and mayhem. One does not have to believe in their divinity to see that.

So all we need to do is to create a reliable US Federal Thought Police Force, identify and ship off a few million people to somewhere (we’ll figure out where exactly later), and then make sure none get back?

Having never seen either Beyonce’s or Taylor’s vids, I watched them last night. Beyonce’s is just three girls dancing (very well, I might add) in a white room, but Taylor’s has a plot & acting & fits very well with the song.

I agree that the adjetive ‘horrified’ to describe her ‘look’ is not apt, but you are pretty tough on Beyonce. She indeed looked very surprised and was looking around for some clue as to what to do. Celebs (and others on live video) are tought to smile through everything if a camera may be on you. She could not be expected to react with a perfect ‘horrified’ expression and she carried herself well.
