Video: Kanye West’s place in jackass hall of fame now secure

posted at 12:19 am on September 14, 2009 by Allahpundit

It’s been secure for years, actually, and not just because of the infamous “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” crack. This isn’t the first time he’s acted like a royal A-hole at an awards show; in fact, it’s not even the first time he’s rushed the stage during an acceptance speech to protest the winner. That happened a few years ago at the MTV Europe Awards. Even so, I salute him: In this season of political turmoil, Americans are finally united in hatred of his pure, preening douchebaggery. No small accomplishment.

Taylor Swift, who’s all of 19 years old, evidently was spotted “crying hysterically” backstage afterwards, although she managed to pull it together in time to reappear during Beyonce’s moment of graciousness at the end of the show. The boss has video of that. Exit quotation from Karl, imagining an Obama-orchestrated West/Swift beer summit: “Let me be clear: I didn’t watch the VMAs, so I don’t have all the facts. But Taylor Swift acted stupidly.”

Update: That didn’t take long.

There’s a lot of rumors out there to that effect. And of course, we all know what they say about rumors.

What? A crazy whacked out uncle figure/spiritual leader is screaming behind the doors of some church?

Seriously? I patiently responded to you twice. You then proceeded to scream at me and ignore everything I said. Buzz off.

crr6 on September 14, 2009 at 1:27 AM

LOL.

1. Liberals attack with ‘emotion’

2. Conservatives respond with facts

3. Liberals counter attack with namecalling

Let me try this again:

1. this hallowed “joint session of congress” was one that OBAMA CALLED for a NON CONSTITUTIONAL reason. It’s his what, 15th prime time ‘event’ since January 20th? in political lingo, “joint session i called to try for the 800th time to get blue dogs to pass my crappy bill” = MTV2 Cambodia’s 2004 VMAs.

2. OBAMA WAS LYING. He, in a literal sense, at least, “deserved” the message. the provision that wilson yelled at (and that YOU said ‘didnt exist’) was TAKEN OUT OF THE BILL on friday night. Taylor swift did NOT ‘deserve’ the message.

where am i wrong? why is it “WORSE” for joe wilson to do it (******be careful: saying ‘hes the president’ is dangerous because remember, bush was president and you tolerated a lot of stuff thrown at him)

(P.S. “responding to you” does not equal saying “LULZ IF YOU DONT KNOW WHY JOE WILSON IS WORSE YOURE SILLY!!!”)

cmon, prove me wrong. how is #1 and #2 above wrong?

i dont think you can do it. forgive the generalization, but like most libs, you “feel” something is wrong, I respond with facts, then you–in a bind— resort to name calling.

prove me wrong.

Man Wilson was totally outdone.

Great now I’m picturing Joe Wilson grabbing the mike and asking “This whole speech is BS, who elected this guy anyway?”. It puts a smile on my face too.

Rationally, I understand that would have been wrong. I certainly don’t feel that way though.

Question 1 – did someone do something to you? under both common law and per statute in New York she has a case.

Question 2 – what are your damages? per statute in New York damages are laid out for intentional torts.

This isn’t about the insult. Its about the assault…him menacing her when he appeared out of nowhere, the battery when he grabbed the microphone away from her and the intentional infliction of emotional distress when she was crying afterwards backstage. Case closed.

This would be a great place to make “a point”.

elduende on September 14, 2009 at 1:33 AM

According to the radio news, Beyonce got video of the year. KW, why the antics again? To go after a kid?

bikermailman on September 14, 2009 at 1:33 AM

This will allow leftists to bide their time until demographics take over and they can usher in socialism with a voting majority.

Rahm thanks you for your service to the democratic party and liberalism as a whole and looks forward to partnering with you in the future.

blackrepublican on September 14, 2009 at 1:25 AM

You really do not get it.

Assimilation has failed. These “newcomers” want nothing to do with traditional white America. All they want is to take as much as they can from it. They have no real historical connection to this country. That’s why the liberals have such an easy time with them, and why you’re sweet-talking will ultimately fail to woo them.

If you really want to fight the Democratic party’s agenda, stand up against the demographic transformation of this country. Otherwise you’re just making noise, and are yourself helping the leftists achieve their agenda.

Choose your side now. We don’t have much time left.

Not only is Kayne a douchethug and a twunt, he is also an idiot. Beyonce did not deserve an award for that video. All she does is prance around in a leotard shaking her voloptuous caboose, but that is it. While a good song it is repetitive.

Taylor Swift deserved the award she got and Kayne West deserves a rodgering.

I am a Plaintiff’s attorney – I am the person you people deride on a regular basis on this website. I WOULD NOT TAKE THIS CASE. I always counsel people who come into my office and ask them – What amount of money would a jury award after hearing your story? And this is just not a case where damages can be proved…we all get our feelings hurt all the time. She will likely get a bump in record sales from this and it will make her stronger. So where are the damages??????? Lets just sue McDonald’s for some hot coffee…oh yea I forgot, that stupid thing was already done.

I’m confused. Are we talking about blacks or hispanics or asians now? Together, they will represent a demographic majority by 2050 even if we deport the illegals. All three groups have been here for awhile and at one point and time have voted for Republicans.

So this is either defeatism or laziness… We’ve let liberals take over the schools and take over the media and take over the churches and then we’re shocked that no one from these groups stumbles upon conservatism. Minority groups are not predetermined to support socialism. That’s convenient, self-righteous BS that makes us feel good about our failures to reach them.

Kanye has long been President of the Diva/Douchebag Club. A couple of years ago, he got his panties in a wad and refused to take the stage before a huge crowd who had paid to see him as headliner at a festival concert.

Robert Randolph was on the stage at the time. He and his band stayed and played thru Kanye’s scheduled set so the fans wouldn’t be disappointed. I was a fan of Randolph’s music before, but this made me a fan of him as a man.

blackrepublican on September 14, 2009 at 1:39 AM

agree on a lot, disagree on some.

1. its not for sure that america is ‘minority majority’ by 2050. that assumes that hispanic women will CONTINUE to have a much higher fertility rate vs non-hispanics, and it assumes that the average age of the your first child will be lower for hispanics vs. non-hispanics. in every other “group A in country B” example, with increasing incomes/education, the birth # fall and the age # goes up, slowing down demographics. it’s not “GOOD” or “BAD”, im just saying, some of that census stuff could be very suspect.

2. i agree that the gop has done a woeful job about reaching out to minority voters — but let’s be honest, “WHEN” would you do it? 2008, on the cusp of the first black president? mccain was about as “Non” racist as possible — non southerner, military guy, squishy rino — and against obama, in some exit polls he lost to black women 99%-1%. bush in 2004, even with the gay marriage issue & with a minority-heavy iraq war going on, only got 11% of black voters. WHEN should the gop reach out? cynically speaking, the gop doesn’t want to “attempt” outreach and “rely” on those votes to win elections; cause if you dont get them, you lose, and its easier to woo white married evangelicals or something.

3. the gop has an image problem in hollywood and in the culture as a ‘racist’ party. the south –> republican has exacerbated that. it used to be GOP=rich. now its GOP=racist. how do you overcome that in the media? i dont know. how do you overcome that (specifically) in the black community? who knows. when majority-black churches’ preachers are saying the gop is black, it’s a he!! of an uphill climb.

In other words, minorities don’t vote for conservatives because…we haven’t communicated to them effectively enough. In other words, it’s all our fault. THAT is BS.

If you’re hypothesis were true, then we would see equal racial representation according to population percentage at these town hall protests and Washington marches. But we don’t. Instead we see that these protesters are almost exclusively comprised of whites.

White people are exposed to the same kind of government education, media and liberal churches. And yet they’re the only racial group who rejected Obama. Are white people smarter? Less prone to brain-washing and manipulation? More susceptible to being tricked into tribalist thinking by Democrats who only want to use them? Is that what you’re saying?

battleoflepanto1571 on September 14, 2009 at 1:47 AM

Do it just like everything else: One neighborhood, one neighbor at a time. The black community (in my parts anyway) lives their lives in a conservative manner. Even in CA, the black vote was a big part in voting down Prop 8. The Dems have taken them for granted, and the Repubs have just written them off, and just as any consumer, no competition by those who wish to sell a product is bad for the consumer. At the local level, get out and convince people why a conservative/libertarian POV is better for them.

2Brave2Bscared on September 14, 2009 at 1:33 AM

eh, as a white dude, i dont mind ‘the demographic transition of america’. every generation there’s some ‘fear’. first it was “we have to be english! no scots!” so the scots headed to the hills of appalachia but lived on. then it was “no irish!” in the 1840s but boston and nyc survived. then it was “no catholics!” with later immigration… anti-italian, anti-european, etc. in the twentieth century, it was no to asians, be it chinsese in the early 1900s or the ‘boat people’ of se asia in the 60s and 70s. now its hispanics, mostly from mexico. i guess i say ‘so what’. in 100 years ‘latino’ wont mean much, about as much as being italian means living in texas. so what? there will continue to be marriages, etc.

baldilocks, i think he’s talking about the hispanicization of america clearly, but its still ‘out there’ if you ask me.

now to be fair, i DO agree that ILLEGAL immigration must be STOPPED. you cant have CONTINUOUS immigration to a society, lest it break down. you have to do it slowly, traditions-and-insitutitons-wise. america, for example, couldnt handle importing the entire nation of indonesia tomorrow (250 mil?). it just wouldnt ‘mesh’. so i agree it has to be slow.

but ‘demographics’? who cares.

as long as their kids are speaking english, america will survive whether we are pasty brunettes from wales, pale redheads from ireland, tan with big eyebrows from naples, or brownish from veracruz.

no difference!!!!

Actually I was the one who first told Lox about Canned since I knew her before over at NQ. I got her to admit, she had too much wine one night, that she had been banned from NQ.

I think he enjoys Troll Tracking. I tried to talk to him about it in code one night but he was too cryptic for me to follow.

If it’s a country with conservative/libertarian beliefs, I don’t care. If, however, the Dems and the educational system train them to be socialist, everything-white-and-European-and-Christian-is-evil robots, then not so good.

battleoflepanto1571 on September 14, 2009 at 1:47 AM

1) Fair point on #1. Regardless there are still a hell of a lot of congressional districts that will be majority minority with even reduced birth rates so the issue remains.

2) As far as solutions, I’ve brainstormed with other minority Republicans about it. There needs to be a consistent outreach – not just at election time. That means visiting predominantly black churches as well as predominantly white churches. That means working with constituencies that are more traditionally aligned with Republican goals (small-business owners, Harry Alford’s group, the Urban League in some areas, etc.). That means specifically articulating how conservative policies can improve the lives of urban, minority voters. They assume that they won’t because we speak in generalities. We don’t consistently argue for vouchers as a civil rights initiative. We don’t talk about reducing recidivism. The list goes on. That also means recruiting candidates that get it and voting out candidates that don’t get it. This is the most controversial piece but we should have a Club For Growth style PAC that primaries dumbasses who play into leftist portrayals of Republicans because they don’t know how to keep their mouths shut. Replace them with 100% conservatives of any race who know how to communicate conservative principles to every race and income group and are committed to doing so. Do you think Aaron Schock won 25% of the black vote by accident?

Until we punish those who step out of line, the vast majority of the minority communities will not take us seriously. It’s a carrot and stick approach.

Now, let the arrows fly.

Fine, I’ll answer it. I think Battle put it quite nice. Mind if I copy and paste?

as long as their kids are speaking english, america will survive whether we are pasty brunettes from wales, pale redheads from ireland, tan with big eyebrows from naples, or brownish from veracruz.

The explanation is simple. I judge people by their actions and believes. Why would I care if the skin tone or eye slant of my country changes?

Now, you.

Upstater85 on September 14, 2009 at 2:03 AM

Race is similar to religion in politics. Democrats have no credibility on religion with evangelicals because we’ve been burned too many times. That’s why Obama had to work extra hard to woo some more “moderate” evangelicals.

Republicans have little credibility with minorities. It’s not fair but it’s facts. They don’t get the benefit of the doubt and every perceived slight amplifies pre-existing notions of Republicans as racists. Just as every perceived anti-religious comment reinforces the Democratic party in evangelicals’ minds as anti-religious.

So the burden of proof for religion, fairly in my mind is on the Democrats and the burden of proof for race, unfairly in my mind is on Republicans. We can bitch about how unfair it is or recognize it and communicate accordingly. Peel off the persuadables slowly until we establish a beachhead.

blackrepublican on September 14, 2009 at 2:03 AM

White people are exposed to the same kind of government education, media and liberal churches. And yet they’re the only racial group who rejected Obama. Are white people smarter? Less prone to brain-washing and manipulation? More susceptible to being tricked into tribalist thinking by Democrats who only want to use them? Is that what you’re saying?

2Brave2Bscared on September 14, 2009 at 1:53 AM

you can’t be serious…

cmon, man, i hate the msnbc tripe of commenting on how tear-jerking it is every time obama+sotomayor watch paint dry(beacuse “what a ‘diverse’ picture it is!!!”) as much as the next guy, but seriously, 2008 was different.

Pan the ‘firsts’ all you want, but be honest: having someone other than a white person for the nominee IS ‘historic’. id have to think theres a little of the ‘he looks more like me’ attitude in 2008, simply because it’s the FIRST time in 220 YEARS it was even a real possibility.

are you seriously asking how it was even possible non-whites preferred obama? im not saying ‘race X votes for candidate with race X’, but we aren’t talking about mayor of atlanta (see the horrible race baiting in the election this week!), we’re talking about the freaking PRESIDENCY.

i ‘understand it’ for 2008.

but 2012? i expect “real change” ;)

To expound further, it’s a problem of credibility. Every Condi Rice and Janice Rogers Brown is viewed as cynically as every time Obama quotes Scripture or recites for the millionth time that he’s a Christian. Without credibility establihed by the hard work of outreach, marketing, going into neighborhoods, pre-conceived, media-reinforced notions will win the day. Policy never gets through especially since we don’t do a good job of communicating it. A variant on people want to know you care before they care about what you know.

Depends on what you mean by colonization. If it’s the historical colonization that Europeans did, with military and the whole bit? Not such a good idea. If it’s moving there, and following their customs and such, then whatever. Just as People come here from literally all over the world, just to be Americans.

Plenty of examples of that throughout human history. Getting beyond that, along with slavery, and plenty of other bad examples of human behavior, that hopefully, mankind has moved away from. Of course, we can see from the ‘reconquista’ movement, or the slavery that is still used in some islamic countries, that we haven’t completely put it behind us.

I actually watched the replay of the VMAs to see for myself how everything unfolded. Beyonce was clearly stunned when it happened, and from what I could tell, seemed to be looking at Tayler at one point as if to say “I don’t know how to make him stop.” Very sweet moment at the end when she turned the microphone over to Taylor and gave her the older sister “You can do this” look.

Do you think evangelicals have gotten the tribalism out of their systems or will 2012 be any different? Actually, it’s not an issue of tribalism at all for evangelicals. They just vote based on their perceived interests. For Af-Ams, we’ve been content to allow others to define their perceived interests for them. Until we change that definition which will require some pain and frustration in the short-term just like Obama learned with evangelicals and the Rick Warren Forum, we shouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happens again.

Also, I’m not quite sure what you mean by ‘tribalism’ in reference to blacks; because i look at Lynn Swann and Michael Steele and Ken Blackwell — they were OVERWHELMINGLY REJECTED BY BLACK VOTERS in 2006.

The “tribalism” is black voters as a reliable voting bloc for the Democrat party. it’s not something about “we are voting for ‘OUR KIND’.” if that was true, Governor Lynn Swann would have stopped the bleeding in the PA economy by now.

or let me say this: if Colin Powell actually HAD run against Clinton in 1996, what percentage of blacks would have voted FOR him? with the ‘R’ beside his name?

I’m saying 50-50.

Seriously.
