Quotes of the day
posted at 10:35 pm on September 14, 2009 by Allahpundit
“Obama Derangement Syndrome is establishing itself as a potent political force, able to rally tens of thousands of citizens to the Washington Mall after Glenn Beck’s call. Joe Wilson’s outburst isn’t an embarrassment of incivility to these folks; it is a rallying cry for an army of useful idiots. But Republicans will soon find that they cannot contain or moderate this strain—while Democrats won’t understand what hit them…
Republicans are playing a dangerous game. They are benefitting from all this anger in the short term, but they have tapped into something deep and ugly that they can’t control. Calling the president a communist or even Hitler is something far beyond simple incivility or street theater—it is an accusation that intentionally stirs the crazy pot. It is ultimately an incitement to violence.”

You can say the same thing about Rush…doesn’t make it true. Savage, Beck, Levin, Rush, even Hannity have to sell themselves, and they wouldn’t last if they were just BSing their audience. Glenn believes what he believes, and is very passionate about it. It isn’t phony. Now Glenn could be wrong…and he even says he hope he is…but from his research and perspective, his opinion is what he believes.

Glenn was also the same idiot who after reading the quran, proclaimed that he had every reason to believe that islam is a religion of peace. Did you know that glenn got so drunk at one point in his life, that he fell out of a window. That’s the story. I know it’s not fair to bring in his past dirty laundry, but I think there’s something loose, shaky, and unstable there.

If the Democrats wanted us to treat their President with respect, then they shouldn’t of given us a die hard Communist
with a domestic agenda to ruin this country, while all the while he’s feeding his psychotic delusions of being the messiah.
Jeff from WI on September 15, 2009 at 5:31 AM
That was an excellent video. I’ve had my differences with Beck’s, er, locution. But, this was, by far, the best I’ve seen. Really, really great.
I am not an advocate of a third party. But, at the same time, what can we do if our choices are the same (virtually) as last year? Most of these people do not fear us. That is tyranny. They must have some fear of reprisal for their undermining of our system. We’ve slept for too, too long.
Not sure about the fear of violence. I do know that ramming more bills through, particularly HC, amnesty, or cap/trade will be monstrously devastating and will inflame the nation’s anger more. Which is RIGHT, by the way. Why should we not be enraged over what is happening, and the smarmy, smirking president who keeps his pretty hands clean while outsourcing his retribution to those thugs he surrounds himself with. Why should we not be outraged over not being heard?
One last thing: does Beck have security? Like, multiple body guards? He needs it.
Diane on September 15, 2009 at 5:45 AM
Fox news reported last night that of all these people in these uncivil, ugly mobs …
ZERO were arrested.
And … incitement to violence? What – do you mean that ignoring our concerns in the media and pretending we don’t matter. Calling us racists and Nazis and Evilmongers?
That is not an incitement to violence?
Where’s the compassion for us that was shown to Rev. Wright by the other side? Why aren’t libbies questioning … “Why are these people saying what they are saying?” … “What is their life experience?”
It’s clear they aren’t attempting to “understand” us the way they demanded Conservatives to understand Wright.
Yeah … you got a storm … and that puny umbrella you’re holding – it’s not going to save you. You’re gonna get wet I’m afraid.

The only violence that’s being incited here is going to come from the Left. Avlon is just warning us that, like a cornered badger, the Left is going to lash out snarling with fangs bared. Who was it that received a bomb threat right before the march on Washington? It wasn’t ACORN, that’s for sure.
RedRedRice on September 15, 2009 at 6:32 AM
I thank Glen for bringing a lot of information to the forefront that would not have been exposed. I have personally stopped watching him as a personal decision, but never would demonize anyone who continues to watch. He is becoming a tad arrogant in my opinion. One of my issues with Obama is his “cult of personality” and I am seeing the same lately with Glen. The leftists have always played games, that is their MO. I think they are playing again now with the deliberate non coverage of important events that in ordinary times would be a journalists dream.
The argument is simple: You either want large government control, or you do not. We know where Obama stands. It is up to the GOP to counter the argument with the facts..
One question: Why in God’s great name did McCain and the GOP refuse to tell the American people exactly what regulations are? The problem with the GOP is simple. They have allowed the left to define the issue, with no counter attack with the facts.
shar61 on September 15, 2009 at 6:35 AM
What they fear is not violence but an uprising of every day Americans who are sick of it.

I do not always agree with Glenn Beck, when he goes of on Bush and Teddy Roosevelt it just grates on my nerves…the idea that he is a tool of the Republicans is absurd.{Note that Reagan gets a pass for amnesty, tax hikes and intrusion in Latin America..all of which Glenn gives other people hell for, and note that if Glenn had his way on the Patriot Act there might well have been some successful attacks since 9/11}
Also, idea that the disquiet we see in the electorate is part of some Republican plot is also absurd.
These people are just hoping that these are not real people, regular people who are just fed up with what is happening in their government.

I drove up to DC this weekend and took part in the march and rally. And it wasn’t because of any “call” put forth by Glenn Beck. I dont’ watch him – I don’t even have cable or satellite!
I went because of what I’ve been reading online and talking with my friends about, and because it seemed the logical next step after attending local Tea Parties on 2/27, 4/15, and 7/4.

I saw that. I also heard him talking about how Americans will pick berries etc. See, this is the kind of thing that bothers me about Beck. He says these companies are treating these people like slaves working them in the fields and all that. My grandparents were Okies during the Depression. They went to California to work in migrant camps after they lost their farm in the Dust Bowl…those people they were worked for were not companies. They were individual and private farmers and ranchers…and that was 1935. There were Mexican migrant workers then. They were not slaves. I am not saying illegal immigration is okay, but the truth is migrant workers have been doing ag work for decades.

Obama is a rigid ideologue. He, like many before him, agitated the people to join his cause and will only appease those who agree with his ideology. He has not been deterred at all from his own trajectory or special interest groups. He uses agitprop and crisis-manipulation to stir up the people, but given that he is as elite as they come, his populist rhetoric is just that. Words.

Unless I am completely mistaken, in 1935 those migrant workers were here under a guest worker program. They did not bring their families. They did not enroll their kids in the school system. They did not expect social services.

The Tea Party was about Americans who love their country,
and was attended by a spectrum of colours, not a crowd of
angry white guys!
If there is any angry,it is the Liberal Party. They have
spent the last sixty years taking over every aspect of
government,institutions,schools,and every other part of
American life!
Soon,it’ll be the Left who will be the real threat, for
Liberals have waited a long time for all the peices to
fall into place!
They now control the White House and all branches of
government, and they are soooooooo close for their sch
emes and dreams to become reality!
The RIGHT are a road-block to this Lefty Utopia!
It’ll be the Left who will eventually have a collective
temper tantrum because they want to implement ‘Their
America’just like Silky has proclaimed the ‘Two Americas”!
So,while the State Runned Media paint the Right as angry,
it is actually the Left if they don’t get there way!!

I agree. I think obama’s past has made him unstable. He grew up in a radically liberal household. His mother’s nickname was “anarchy-anne.”
I assume that your simple mind can’t accept the fact that I’m a conservative who doesn’t like Glenn beck. It must be too much for you to handle. That’s okay, simple-mind dolts like you are usually restricted in their ability to multi-think. I suppose, according to you, I should like everything and everybody that is a, “proud, god-fearing, gun-toting, constitution-upholdin’ right-winger” All or nothing. I get it.
That’s not a rumor. That’s the truth. He did fall out of a window because he got too drunk. I don’t know if it has anything to do with the fact that he’s a guttersnipe demagogue. I was only offering clues as to why he prefers hyperbolic shrieking, rather than reasoned rational thought.

Sitting back and cogitating with “reasoned rational thought” wasn’t getting the job done.
Sometimes it takes “hyperbolic shrieking” to get the necessary attention and results.
There are some situations that are so dire that I’ll accept whatever it takes to get the required results.
If you want to go sit in the corner and think “reasonable rational thoughts” while the rest of us get on with the battle please have at it.

It’s really fascinating how differently people see life and how they interpret events. To look at the people who attended the DC rally and see racist Obamahaters is bizarre! I saw sincere, hardworking Americans that were “willing to make the effort”.
The left hijacked the media and moral rightousness long ago, the President isn’t interested in being ALL of America’s president- just the ones who agree with him- and too damn bad for the left, but we’re sick of it! We’re fighting back to get our voices heard. Deal with it.

To me this is more about fear than anything else. Calling people racist, that they are treading down a dark and ugly path and sayings like that are text book responses when people lose the initiative and the argument. The legacy media is setting up strawman arguments on every single tea party event. Things like they are being taken over by Ron Paul kooks and white supremicst groups who are secretly funding them are rampant in more than one blog. Moving the goal posts of what is considered to be inciting violence in political discourse is the final sign that the media has lost the battle and is practicing damage control instead of setting the agenda. Everyone who needed to know what the true number of people in DC was on 9/12 know, and folks they are pi$$ing in their pants at the real number. Obama was intentionally out of town on that date for a reason, and that reason was not a town hall meeting.
Johnnyreb on September 15, 2009 at 8:11 AM
Bullshit. You weren’t offering anything but rumor-mongering. You can’t attack the ideas so you attack the messenger. You really are a scum-sucking whore.

And secondly, yes folks ” My name is EMR and I am a conservative and I hate Glenn Beck.” This is the part where you all say, “Hi EMR” Isn’t that the way the program works? I’ve never been to rehab.

EMR on September 15, 2009 at 8:17 AM
Not to dismiss the potential 700K extra people but I think settling on a figure somewhere around 1M protestors makes the point. Not even at the height of the anti-war movement ACORN, Code Pink, and all the rest of the leftist special were able to generate that kind of a response. The status quo in DC should be very concerned.
highhopes on September 15, 2009 at 8:19 AM
You can call yourself anything you like but that doesn’t make it true. You are not a right-winger. You skew Beck’s own admissions about his past to smear him since you hate his message. You are beneath contempt.

Nobody here cares if you’re a conservative or whatever. Regardless of your voting patterns, you are clearly an egotistical tool, and while your 1/2 acre-long posts attacking Beck and “birthers” may fuel your self-importance, they are simply taking up space reserved for opinions worth a nickel.
TMK on September 15, 2009 at 8:22 AM
I’m in my 40′s and I spent most of my life being oblivious to racism- the only time I remember it being a big issue was during the O.J. trial. It just seemed people had moved past the black/white thing, and now it’s more than a little pathetic that the media and left wing poor sports are insisting that racism be planted squarely on the table.
It’s actually pretty funny that the left wants to blame Obama’s failure as a president on racism when there are so many other reasons to be disappointed in him!

What could possibly be expected from room-temperature “moderates” than disdain for passion and thus allegiance to the corrupt Washington system we’ve so long become accustomed to? And all because they’re too timid to be to tolerate criticism for… wait for it… bad manners.
Love him or hate him, Glenn Beck has done more in the last month to expose Washington corruption than any of these self-proclaimed “moderates” ever thought about. What has Frum accomplished with his career that is of any possible use to this country?
Barack Obama has BADLY misunderstood his “mandate”. He was ELECTED to do the job Glenn Beck is doing for us now. He campaigned on a platform of “changing the way Washington does business”, “no more politics as usual”. He was supposed to end the influence of special interests, bring us a post-racial and post-partisan sense of unity, an end to Congressional gridlock. And what we’ve had instead is a doubling down on all of that.
Our Constitution has been twisted and stretched for DECADES like a taffy pull at the county fair. And if morons like Frum think it’s all about party politics… he’s badly mistaken to the point of a whole new low in terms of relevance.
This is about Fascism, the absolute control of government upon American production and thus American citizens. Anyone who can’t work up a little “passion” at the prospect of that, anyone who’d rather sit on the sidelines clucking their tongue about “bad manners”, doesn’t deserve our attention.

I don’t follow Beck. HotAir does that for me.
I don’t follow the derangement that it takes to “hate” Beck, nor do I follow that derangement through the further ignorance required to assume a superiority complex greater than Michael Savage’s.
Savage’s observations are based upon a long lifetime devoted to the study of science and cultures that pays homage to faith that works to preserve the life of our own American heritage.
Michael Savage has the human right to self defense. And I would give my friendship to Savage, a trustworthy spokesman, and eschew the likes of the overly opinionated EMR who would ignorantly assume his right, or be criminally motivated, to be an assassin of a good man’s character.

Well, which is it? Am I a genuine idiot pretending to be smart. Or just someone who is genuinely smart, pretending to be an idiot?

As someone who was in downtown LA when the Rodney King riots broke out, I think this writer needs to experience a real mob.

Graham (R-SC)and Mccain were at a townhall (it was an update underneath). Coburn and huthcison would’ve definitely voted, but I’m assuming they were gone too. Burris and Durbin get money from acorn–guaranteed (didn’t do the research).

Glenn is a phenomenon. He has, with the assistance of citizen watchdogs, changed policy and personnel in DC. He has helped to rally over a million people to protest there. He is standing for the country as few are outside of the tea party patriots. He is courageous and sincere. He takes the lies from the left and the snark from the O’Reilly’s and Allahpundits of this world and keeps on going. (I was impressed that O’Reilly, try as he might last night, could not get Carl Rove to make Glenn out to be a kook.)
I pray for Glenn and his family. And I pray that there are other patriots who will pick up the banner and I pray that there are at least 56 men in DC who will do the right thing.

AP, gets it right…
Then again…?

I have just become a fan of Glen Beck! His analysis is right on!

“EMR” is not to be confused with “RMR”. Just so we are clear.

LV, do you follow online, organizer, Matt Kibbe…?

But seriously people, think about this, who here really cares what the lamestream media says about anything? Haven’t you seen the numbers? Nobody watches or reads them anymore.
Newsflash: They are history!
Now, I’ll grant you it is convenient for me that the old media reprints the donks bullet points. But, most of that is just sucking up to the ‘Won’.

EMR,
All of your ‘statements’ and pandering are a mask. You violated the eleventh commandment. You’re dead to me.
NEVER AGAIN!

Much speculation on the 4th tape. My guess: an ACORN worker actually soliciting Giles.
The (apparently recent) timeline suggests no smoking gun of Obama, Pelosi, Boxer, et al.
Still will be bad news for those mentioned.

Nope. I mostly “graze” online – a little here, a little there. Used to hang out at LGF until Charles started banning some of his biggest supporters. Followed Ed at CQ until he came over here. I’d drop by Protein Wisdom every now and again (still can’t figure out why Jeff’s stopped posting regularly).
My regular daily reads are here, Michelle, Instapundit, and Althouse, plus a family blog a friend has.
I went to the first Tea Party in February after I heard about it on local radio. Ditto the April 15 one. I checked out the local Tea Party organization, but they’re a little too religious for me (I joke that I may be the only person in the area who’d have a “Rush is Right” bumper sticker next to a P-FLAG one). I’m not much of a joiner, anyway. I’ll show up and add my voice but I’m not too big on groups.

A conservative you are not, we don’t HATE people we don’t know, that is a very leftist word along with name calling, we don’t condemn people for past mistakes, try to make people that are truly patriotic fit into your pea brain idea of what people are supposed to be. To me you sound like an “Elitist”, definitely not a conservative.::))

I don’t hate the personal glenn beck because I don’t know who that guy is. But I do hate the professional glenn beck because I’ve seen his work–and it sucks.
If you don’t believe me, imagine for a moment that you’re arguing with a liberal. And all of a sudden, the librul mentions that he saw something on keith olberdouche—wouldn’t your eyes gravitate to the back of your head. Of course, because you wouldn’t take that jackass’s agitprop seriously. Well, glenn beck is the conservative olberdouche, or ed shultz, or any number of those lefty shows.

So you did! Awesome, thank you.
What a hag.
MoDo and E.J. Dionne and whoever else is saying that the attitude towards Obama is racially motivated should consider that it doesn’t explain why many of us feel a loathing as great or even greater for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Put that in your victim politics pipe and smoke it!

Glenn Beck and the American People have accomplished more in 6 months than the ENTIRE GOP has accomplished in 10 years and RINO scumbags are pissed because YOU ARE FINISHED.
Allahpundit, why don’t you go over to MSNBC where you belong, oh I forgot, you are too gutless to show your face like the rest of us so continue to post your tripe while you hide behind Megan McCain’s fat ass. Cry us a freakin’ river Allahpundit.
