O’Keefe to ACORN: Sue me

A typically ballsy reply to their latest desperate threats; the first half of the clip’s mostly background so skip ahead if you can’t be bothered. This was recorded yesterday morning, before the new tape from the New York office was posted, so it’s unclear whether the hints dropped here about more footage on the way refer to anything beyond today’s video. I’m intrigued, though, that Giles seems to say near the end that they weren’t turned away from any ACORN offices they approached. She and O’Keefe have been cagey about that, but if it’s true, this may be another very busy week for BigGovernment.com.
The true stroke of genius in this sting was adding the detail about the underaged girls. Helping out a prostitute would have earned ACORN some defenders on the left and among libertarians. Helping out child-sex-slave traffickers, not so much. Exit question: Do O’Keefe and Giles realize they’re going to be marked for revenge by the left forever? That’s what you deserve for exposing systemic criminal corruption, haters.

This is amazing. The press hasn’t covered any of this and in two weeks Van Jones is gone, the NEA guy is toast, and ACORN is defunded in the Senate. You know that the House will go along on this one. I guess we don’t need the Old Media anymore. You think the March wasn’t seen or heard by the Congress? It looks as if we are making a difference. The bad news is we cannot stop.

Ann, more often than not it’s painful for me to read your posts and to fathom what’s your point. Here for once you speak clearly and are outrageously offensive.
Unlike you I DO trust my son’s Boy Scout leaders, completely and unreservedly. (I won’t dignify the “Scout leader as sexual predator” implication behind your comment.)
Try this to broaden your world view: pick any Scout Troop near you at random and ask to be invited to one of their meetings. You’ll not find adult leaders instructing the young men in how to lie, to scam the government or to engage in illicit activities as so clearly occurred in the ACORN offices.
The contrast between what occurs in Scouting with what O’Keefe and Giles documented is glaringly obvious. The ACORN workers discussed importing children for prostitution in the presence of young children for crying out loud!
Has all capacity to decide whether something is right or wrong — absolutely — been completely excised from California since I was there thirty years ago? Has any sense of shame been eradicated completely?

Of course I trust the Boy Scouts! That is so stupid. I actually had to do the Boy Scout leader training once for my church just so I understood the program.
Demonizing the Boy Scouts is part of the attack of the Left on everything good in America.
The Boy Scouts have a very good program. And for years now they have had a strict rule of two deep leadership so that no leader is left alone with children. They addressed any problems with a sensible reaction. And no cover up.

Although the “Hydra” effect will be in play, two hideous heads to replace ACORN if ACORN goes down; it will still chew up their time and resources. If ACORN goes down, it will be tough for them to ramp up for the ’10 census and elections.

ACORN is dead if it actually files a suit on this. That would waive the privacy rights of its “business” practices while giving the defendants a vehicle to issue deposition subpenas to third parties with knowledge of ACORN’s activities. ACORN might play delay games about civil discovery of its own records, but it can’t block subpenas to the records and testimony of third parties with knowlege of ACORN’s activities, and too many of those involve predicate RICO acts, notably interstate wire fraud (i.e., email.
ACORN is a classic RICO criminal enterprise, as shown by these videotapes.
Congratulations to BigGoverment.com for hitting the Big Bullseye on its first expose’. ACORN is dead once anyone gets civil discovery rights against it.

Just think. The term ACORN is quintessentially synonymous with community organizing and the cuda tattooed that on Barry’s backside in her acceptance speech.
Hence the lightning fast response to jettisoning ACORN. I guess rampant voter fraud and intimidation at polls wasn’t enough the get the Donks attention.

He seamed to stutter and pick these words very carefully. This could mean one of two things. Either they were refused help but not forcibly removed or he was covering for the new video coming out and didn’t want to spoil the surprise. I hope it was the latter.

ACORN will just claim that these are rogue employees who do not represent the organization. They’ll buttress that claim by pointing out that the employees in question were terminated. Ultimately the same defense that has made outlaw biker gangs immune from RICO prosecution (ie. that the MCs are merely motorcycle enthusiasts and the actions of the criminal element are the actions of a wild 1% of their members) can be successfully used to defend ACORN.
Not to mention the fact that ACORN is too politically connected to be the subject of sweeping prosecutions.
