Obama, off the record: Kanye’s a “jackass”

posted at 9:17 pm on September 14, 2009 by Allahpundit

I knew he had his good points. What I don’t know is why he’d insist on keeping this off the record.

ABC News reporter Terry Moran caused quite a commotion tonight on Twitter following after writing: “Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a “jackass” for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT’S presidential.”…

Now, an ABC spokesperson explains to POLITICO what happened:

In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview. This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again.

Has he said anything nearly this harsh about the many, many A-holes in his own party who’ve spent the past month demagoging ObamaCare opponents in the most odious terms?

Somehow I don’t believe this was an “oops” mistake, but rather a scripted “leak and retreat” to make it appear that way.

I’m waiting for Maureen Dowd to call criticism of West racist since Swift is White and far more of a human being at 19 than Dowd will ever be.
highhopes on September 14,

I wonder?

Did the voices in Maureen Dowd head hear “cracker”
when he said,

“I’m just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else’s hurt”?

Did she hear
I’m just ashamed that my hurt caused some “cracker” hurt.

Kanye will be a guest of the White House within weeks.

Kanye will then release a hiphop rap song in support of ObamaCare featuring in the chorus the well-toned voice of Michelle.

Obama will give Kanye an iPod filled with Obama reading his books.

Finally, something we can agree on.

When you are right, you are right. Plain and simple. And besides, who is going to say that what West did was ok? I think West is mentally unstable.

Terrye on September 15, 2009 at 6:54 AM

I foresee a Courvosier Summit at the WH in 2 weeks.

You know, I have to agree with the Obamination on this one. He can say this point as often as he wants; here is a guy who did, indeed, “(act) stupidly.”

flutejpl on September 15, 2009 at 8:55 AM

Ah, c’mon, no one can possibly be 100% bad, wrong, dumb all the time, not even a radical liberal.

Also, I hear Jimmy Carter grew some really tasty peanuts.

Texas74 on September 15, 2009 at 9:28 AM

Obama leaked this so he looks hip because the majority of people agree with the fact that Kanye is a Jackass.

Tremmy on September 15, 2009 at 9:34 AM

Team TOTU says AWFUL things all the time no doubt, but the media covers his axx, recallit was a FOREIGN rpeorter who printed Samantha Powers Monster remark, and she tried to get them to pull it by saying AFTERWARD this is off the record and the Reporter was like, uhm no thats not how it works and printed it in the Scotsman

but here? Yeah it makes them feel SPECIAL to hear TOTUS inner jibes at people NO DOUBT

NO DOUBT this started in the primaries when Team TOTUS felt fine calling Hillary a monster to a reporter and it continues to this day

classless douchebags

ginaswo on September 15, 2009 at 10:26 AM

Mr. President could you please comment about ACORN? (off the record, of course)

mobydutch on September 15, 2009 at 10:43 AM

Yep. We agree on that.

xax on September 15, 2009 at 10:45 AM

Right, if he thinks Kanye is a jackass, it’s because he exposed, again, the attitude people like him have since Nov 4, 2008.

Acorn tax preparers would be another example.

notagool on September 15, 2009 at 11:04 AM

so obambi called the jackass a jackass…takes one to know one

blind squirrel, acorn.

Irony intended

Fighton03 on September 15, 2009 at 12:44 PM

Well, blind hogs and all that, but thanks for at least rising to this obvious occasion, Prez.

spmat on September 15, 2009 at 1:12 PM

I´m glad Obama said it. Now I can say that there was a brief shining moment when I agreed with him on something.
