How come no one is asking whether or not Obama’s partisan speech was even worthy of being given before a joint session of congress?
To me it didn’t rise to that level.
To me he was just using the House Chambers for his own benefit to try to make his partisan sales pitch seem more legitimate and to also shield himself from criticism.
Next time he tries it the Repubs should say that they hope the President isn’t going to use such a formal setting for another partisan speech/sales pitch in which he calls all of his opponents liars with sinister motives.

Funny how the Speach and Debate clause can give Murtha LEGAL cover when speaking to reporters outside of Congress, while accusing Soldiers of Murder….

Yet does not seem to cover Speech IN Congress?

Technical correction: I know you didn’t mean it literally, but the Perushim and the Tzedukim aren’t mentioned anywhere in Tanach. The first Torah observant Jews to be known as Pharisees came into existence around the time of Antiochus. They were then the opponents of the Mityavnim – the Hellenists.
