Quotes of the day

posted at 9:30 pm on September 13, 2009 by Allahpundit

“To acknowledge that his critics act in good faith would shake the president’s oversized self-confidence. He alone is in possession of the truth, the only honest broker in a den of conservative thieves, the heir to the noblest traditions of American history…

In recent months the characterization of Obama’s opponents as a bunch of lying name-callers who do not care about facts, do not possess reason, advocate timidity and the status quo, and cannot ‘engage in a civil conversation’ has become all too familiar. It is the natural outcome of an unstoppable force–the angry and arrogant left-wing of the Democratic party–running up against an immovable object–the instinctual conservatism of an American populace that is skeptical of complicated and expensive government interventions…

Isn’t it possible, though, that the moderates, independents, and “right-wing nutters” who traveled to congressional town halls and voiced their opposition to the president’s big-government initiatives do know what’s good for them–or, at least, know that Obamacare may turn out to be bad for them? That it might be too costly and too onerous for an American economy with high unemployment and staggering fiscal imbalances? That today’s reform, like others in the ‘history of our progress,’ may lead to unforeseen distortions and crises down the road? Fixated on its attempt to manipulate the economy in ways that produce its desired social outcomes, the White House has neglected the only real ‘public option’: listening to the public. Determined to pass health care reform even over the objections of popular opinion, the Democrats are practicing a hubristic and antidemocratic politics.

And they will come to regret it.”

Most importantly, the moron in the White House is going to force banks to start keeping track of “profit and earnings ratios”.

In related news, the Moron-in-Chief is having all highway speed limit signs changed to read “65 minutes and hours”. Dems are already crowing about how great it is, while the MSM calls the illiterate maneuver an application of poetic license which our Western dominated culture needs to embrace.

In further related news, 7th graders have been listening to the Moron-in-Chief, and their scores on mathematical word problems have dropped to levels not seen since the stone age.

They want an apology for “breaking the rules”… which are what exactly? Are they to discourage outbursts or disruptions? I’d bet the language doesn’t single out only critical comments. Then I’m guessing any spontaneous, unsolicited response FOR OR AGAINST any address would break the rule. Then wouldn’t ovations and cheers of support qualify? Don’t they make these addresses drag on forever anyway – proof of disruption.

Silly me, it’s only enforced when it’s not in keeping with the Left’s views.

I rarely go OT here, but everyone’s already expressed my thoughts pretty well. (Amazing article, BTW) I just got this in an email from a friend of mine – does anyone know if this is for real?

In a move certain to fuel the debate over Obama’s qualifications for the presidency, the group “Americans for Freedom of Information” has released copies of President Obama’s college transcripts from Occidental College. Released today, the transcript indicates that Obama, under the name Barry Soetoro, received financial aid as a foreign student from Indonesia as an undergraduate at the school. The transcript was released by Occidental College in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California. The transcript shows that Obama (Soetoro) applied for financial aid and was awarded a fellowship for foreign students from the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program. To qualify, for the scholarship, a student must claim foreign citizenship.

This document would seem to provide the smoking gun that many of Obama’s detractors have been seeking. Along with the evidence that he was first born in Kenya and there is no record of him ever applying for US citizenship, this is looking pretty grim

.

Yap. There are some white (or Asian or whatever else) people who are racists, and there are some blacks who are not racists. Black Americans don’t have a monopoly on racism, despite the appearance of their “100%” support of a Black President.

Overall, true racism is practically extinct and I’d like it if people would stop trying to bring it back.

So it’s conservatives that did the dirty deed? What it is – liberals just fail to have the sense of common decency. The evidence is the characteristic “right to lie and deceive” if it helps your evil. Start with calling murdering babies -a good thing -”choice.” Now your trying to pull the same slaughter of inconvenient seniors through Obamacide, and you label it “consulting.”

uncalheels on September 14, 2009 at 10:07 AM

Well on the bright side… the Dems are doing everything possible to insure that they never win the Presidency again. Assuming that Obama’s power grab can be undone and he isn’t President for life (his goal no doubt) I think Americans now understand that no matter how big spending the Republicans get the Democrats will always eclipse them on corruption and stealing and wasting tax payer money.

And to think Obama has insured Republican rule for generations and in only a few short months.

I only wish the Republicans were worthy of that instead of the Democrats being so utterly corrupt.

petunia on September 14, 2009 at 11:01 AM

WOW!

It is the natural outcome of an unstoppable force–the angry and arrogant left-wing of the Democratic party–running up against an immovable object–the instinctual conservatism of an American populace that is skeptical of complicated and expensive government interventions…

Matthew Continetti nails it.

Now, let’s move on this. Politicians will never change. Go out and find new (old) ideas, fresh faces, new candidates – and get them elected. We saw this weekend that conservatism has the overwhelming support of the populace. Get busy.

gopmom on September 14, 2009 at 11:14 AM

I would like to make a point here, that it’s ok for this POS president to lie lie lie lie.
From his healthcare speech before a joint session of Congress…

One man from Illinois lost his coverage in the middle of chemotherapy because his insurer found that he hadn’t reported gallstones that he didn’t even know about. They delayed his treatment, and he died because of it.”

now from today’s Chicago Sun Times……..

Here’s a timeline I put together on the Raddatz case, drawn from Peggy Raddatz’s June 16 testimony before a House Energy and Commerce panel dealing with bad insurers and a narrative provided by Madigan’s office:

••September 2004: Otto Raddatz, 59, was diagnosed with cancer and started chemotherapy.

••January 2005: Raddatz prepared for a stem cell transplant.

••April 15, 2005: Fortis canceled Raddatz’s insurance. Fortis claimed Raddatz failed to disclose that a 2000 CT scan showed gallstones and an aneurysm. Peggy Raddatz said her brother was never told of those CT findings.

••April 25, 2005: Raddatz filed a complaint with Madigan’s office.

He had been scheduled for stem cell transplant surgery in three weeks. A delay at this point threatened his life.

Madigan’s office filed an appeal. It was rejected the same day.

Madigan’s office built a better case and filed a second appeal. Fortis reinstated Raddatz’s policy. Raddatz did receive the stem cell transplant. The AG closed the case on May 6, 2005.

••Jan. 6, 2009: Raddatz died. Peggy Raddatz testified in June that the transplant “was extremely successful. It extended his life approximately 3½ years.”

Mr. President, you are full of crap.

Now , the next part of the evil insurance companies…

Another woman from Texas was about to get a double mastectomy when her insurance company canceled her policy because she forgot to declare a case of acne. By the time she had her insurance reinstated, her breast cancer more than doubled in size

That is heart-breaking, it is wrong, and no one should be treated that way in the United States of America.

Ummmmmmmmmm Mr. President, did you forget something, or are you just a bold faced lying piece of crap………

One of Barton’s constituents, Robin Beaton of Waxahachie, Texas, did know that her health history included acne AND A RAPID HEARTBEAT But she didn’t think they were relevant to her current health and left them off her application.

withholding information is insurance fraud, just as surely as lying.

Mr. President. YOU ARE A LIAR.

And what were you all doing watching the MTV awards anyhow? Isn’t too liberal for you? Hypocrites. Proves most of the so called cons on this blog are liberals in disguise.

Come out of the closet people. There is nothing wrong being a liberal.

Afrolib on September 13, 2009 at 11:45 PM

Only 2 things wrong with being a liberal:
1. Libs evaluate persons, their ideas and their actions based on the intentions they (the libs acting as the evaluators) infer are in the heart of the person being evaluated. That means that a lib’s judgment is 100% subjective. Therefore, liberalism is prejudice personified. (As currently praciced politically, liberals do not believe in the equal value of all American citizens, nor our equal rights.)
2. Libs do not believe our Core American Values are good enough. A friend of mine calls liberals “Yeah-buts.” They will tell you they believe in life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness; the Constitution; the right to own personal property; the right to defend yourself and your family; the right to express views different from theirs or their Messiah’s; the need for personal responsibility; your right to worship at a different altar from them, and many other ideals conservatives would call Core Values. They will then follow up their “Yeah, I beleive in ____” statement with a “But that doesn’t mean________.” Libs believe that Core Values need to be improved upon, that Core Values are inadequate, that the intellectual development they believe they have achieved can perfect the admittedly good society that Core Values established. They believe that it is time for subjective values like Tolerance and Fairness to supersede our Core Values (and who must we look to as the essential arbiters, I wonder?)
Conservatives on the other hand believe that Core Values need only be limited in such a way as to allow all American citizens to practice them. It does not attempt to redress the past as much as it attempts to guard the present in order to preserve opportunity for the future. It does not believe that any one citizen has any greater right to those Core Values than any of the rest of us.

When confronted with the failure of our society to live up to its Core Values, a liberal says “We need new values that more people find it easier to live up to.” A Conservative says, “We need to believe in our values enough to live them consistently and teach them to the next generation.”

Conservatives were here long before the Republican party. Conservatives practiced civic responsibility long before the Left turned it into a religion. (That’s why they called it “Conservation” before the days of PC.) Conservatives are generous with their time and resources to those around them who are in need–so long as the government doesn’t take too much of their surplus earnings out of their pockets as a 3rd-party grifter. (Financial documentation has always shown that Conservatives are much more compassionate with their own resources than their liberal counterparts regardless of personal income levels.)

I may not always be a Republican, but I will always be a Conservative. Liberalism is for people who have no respect for the past, values in the present or hope for the future. Liberalism is lazy, even when passionately practiced.

Conservatism requires me to keep faith with my forebears, my fellow-citizens, and my children, even if their values are not yet mine. If we preserve this Union long enough, they may see their responsibility. But if we don’t, they never will. If we forsake Conservatism for Liberalism we turn from guardians to looters, from firefighters to arsonists, and destroy both our heritage and our future like a person setting fire to his own house on a cold day because he is too lazy to gather firewood.

Having come to this realization, why would I ever do that?
