Have you been “banned”? Probably not
posted at 6:47 pm on September 13, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
I had this in the Headlines this morning, but the problems are continuing, so I’ll write a quick post rather than try to answer all of the e-mails we’re getting today. Neither Allahpundit nor I have banned anyone overnight. If you’re getting a message that says, “You are not allowed to leave comments,” it’s probably related to same database maintenance that took place overnight. The best advice I can offer right now is to clear your browser cache and log in again fresh. I believe that’s working for at least some of our commenters.
We may have more on this later, if the problem continues. Meanwhile, the issue is almost certainly not banning.

Charles was a liberal before September 11, 2001, then started sounding like a conservative for a while – but, like everyone else, he’s pretty much forgotten September 11th.
He also has a fixation on racism; he’s a fanatic. He will not tolerate anyone having any ideas that even suggest racism. He has become almost a fanatic in support of our President – I think he has a phobia of being criticized if he speaks against Barry.
Take Ron Paul, for instance: a guy who has some pretty interesting ideas about the economy, and some other things. But, apparently, he was seen somewhere shaking handsd with some guy who knows a white supremacist – and now Ron Paul can’t say anything at all that Charles will credit. It’s obsessive.
Also has a thing against creationism. Which I totally fail to understand. Number one: who cares? We’ll never know the answer, and it’s not going to affect anything even if we did know. Way too much energy wasted there.
It’s his blog, so he can do what he wants, I guess. But it’s going to be pretty lonely over there: just Charles and Sharmuta (or whatever that person is). Even Zombie is staying rational, so will probably part company over there soon.
The one attractive thing about his blog is the scads of bells and whistles he’s got: updings, downdings, private threads (who cares?), and all kinds of doo-dads.
Kind of sad to see him twisting in the wind. He doesn’t really want to be in league with Daily Kos and HuffPo, but there he is …

I’d like to hear Ninny Peloosi explain why she signed two different documents, then only sent the one without the constitutional language to each of the states, as mentioned in the CanadaFreePress article.

The thing I found distracting @LGF’s were the whistles and bells. Updings, downdings, and doo-dads place commentors in a space where they only say what everyone else is saying. Heads you win, tails you lose. Open discussion is stifled.

I’ve been registered at HA since day one, and have never been able to post at MM.com. I’ve tried many times, even asked to be allowed to register, with no luck.
A registration at MM may have carried over to HA, but not the reverse… (at least in my case…. Maybe Michelle just hates me.)

What’s the point of up dings and down dings if you ban anyone who down dings. “Oh look, all my threads are positive.”
It totally defeats the purpose of providing a forum for feedback. If you don’t want the votes, why have the feature?

It’s the doo-dads you’re never sure of – what do they really do? Humans enjoy interacting verbally. Tell me what you think and I can agree or disagree – most of us can buy any silly doo-dad if packaged right. Perhaps that’s all there is – bling and no real substance.

How come Little Green Footballs is listed under “War on Terror” in the right column. If anything, Lil’ Chuckie, has a jihad against those blogs posting about jihad. He also has a jihad against any of blogs who disagree with his opinion.
He has a jihad against Michelle Malkin and those in control of this site, not to mention every single one of the posters here who he calls “right-wing extremists.”
Seriously LGF should be listed under
Daily Kos
Democratic Underground
Huffington Post
Little Green Footballs
MSNBC

When I kept getting that message, i.e. you are not allowed to leave comments, I never thought about myself being banned. Just the same, I felt goosebumps because I thought HA was being hijacked by those truly pissed off with the truths being aired by Ed and AP. I have to admit I panicked a little there.
Glad it was just some glitch, or something.

The survey found that 63 percent of the respondents thought the information they get from the media was often off base. In Pew Research‘s previous survey, in 2007, 53 percent of the people expressed that doubt about accuracy.
The findings indicate U.S. newspapers and broadcasters could be alienating the audiences they are struggling to keep as they try to survive financial turmoil. Pew Research didn’t attempt to gauge how shrinking newspapers, reduced staffs and other cutbacks at news organizations are affecting people’s perceptions, although the reductions probably haven’t helped, said Michael Dimock, an associate director for the center.
You think they might be alienating their audience?
