CNN to Gibbs: Does Obama think tea partiers are racist?
posted at 2:45 pm on September 13, 2009 by Allahpundit
His response, especially the bit about “hot rhetoric,” would be a lot more heartwarming had his boss not spent the better part of the summer keeping his mouth shut good and tight while the left race-baited the hell out of every conservative within a thousand-mile radius. Just in the past 24 hours, we’ve had the dimmest bulb on the New York Times op-ed page blanket-smearing southern Republicans over some supposed secret wish to call Obama “boy” while CNN anchors hold up Bill Maher — Bill Maher — as the new vanguard in incisive racial commentary. Of course the White House refuses to accuse its opponents of racism; why should they take that political risk when every last halfwit in big media is happily willing to do it for them?
That’s the first clip, which I encourage you to watch only after reading Ed’s latest post so that you fully appreciate the irony. The second clip, where Gibbs is asked whether Palin’s “death panels” comment was out of line, is red meat for dessert.

Things like this have been waiting in the wings for years. Congresscritters don’t write stuff like this. Their long-time staffers do. I mean, if a Critter can’t take time to meet constituents during recesses, or take time to read the bills they propose, then who’s doing all that writing?
The staffers and other bureaucrats have had these papers in storage for years, things like a ‘right’ to health care, education, and jobs (like in France).
Now that they have chance to dust off those proposals, and people like us fight them, they can only use their playbook. Which at this point, is outdated like the MSM.
I see a demise coming, and it isn’t us.

My son started College this semester… and its interesting to note that he and his freinds are getting more Fiscal con / Libertarian as they become more aware of politics.
They see the clash coming… and are talking about it amongst themselves… I usualy just sit back and smile during those conversations, unless I’m asked a direct question…

On the bright side, the more Obama comes on TV and flaps his gums, the more his poll numbers usually tank. I don’t know why they went up after the speach the other night. Hopefully, it’s just a temporary bump.

My kids went lib on me, believing in Obama. But that’s okay. My daughter reminds me I taught them to think for themselves, so I imagine they’ll come to another understanding when all I’ve warned them comes to pass.
Funny, isn’t it, that GenX was considered a harm to America? I never thought so, but it’s nice seeing they’ll rise against the machine, as it were, like Hippies did 40 years ago. Seems the anti-Establishment crowd is now the Establishment, and they’re facing a fight.
Seems we’re in for a lot of entertainment.

China owns a bit over 2 Trillion in the bonds which are our debt…
Social Security owns 4.2 Trillion… and that debt will have to be called in as the Boomers retire.
The Ponzi scheme of Social Security is being used to prop up the Spending of the Government… and when it fails (as all Ponzi schemes must), it will bankrupt the US Government as well.

Imagine their shock when many are put on ice floes; or are left behind by their kids b/c their kids have their own lives and babies to cover, among other things.
Boomers are the most selfish group, unlike the Greatest Generation that lived the Depression and won WWII. Vietnam vets aren’t among that crowd. Most VN vets are successful, with their own bussinesses, college educations, and good families–unlike Kerry claimed far back as 1972.
The Boomers will whine, of course. That’s all they have done. What they fail to realize is that, if the assumed ‘death panels’ come to be true, they die first.
Talk about being short-sighted…

I’m a Boomer. And of course I’m selfish — I want to be able to buy the best healthcare I can, and I don’t want no caddy tax or exchanges or whatever else the White House is proposing this month. And, since I’ve paid into Medicare like I’ve paid into Social Security for the generation which preceded mine, I believe I’m entitled to get something out when it’s my turn. As to whether I’ll be entitled to get something out is a completely different story, given as the generation that follows me is even more selfish than my own, if your comment is to be taken at face value.

You know, I understand 20-year-olds who are libs. They just haven’t lived long enough to be anything else. It’s all about “bleeding hearts,” etc. When I was in my 20′s, I was a lib too. I guess growing up and finally making some money at an honest job and having more than half of it taken away in taxes has a way of knocking the “lib” right out of you. What I don’t understand is the 60-somethings who are still libs today.
Another thing that can make somebody grow up pretty darned fast and knock the lib out them is a couple of tours in Iraq–that’s what my kid did, and he is no lib. God bless our soldiers, then and now.

In my experience, Boomers keep demanding more all the time. Look at your generation of college kids burning down buildings at school–like 19-year-olds can be taken seriously about social issues when daddy’s paying the tuition?
I’m 51. I’m by no means wealthy, but I’m comfortable. My dad taught me that and, if I have to go without, it’s my responsibility so I need to cover without going to government.
My dad always said the world owes me a living so I have to work like hell to get it. That idea precludes any sens of entitlement; if government didn’t force us to pay for others we’d be without a sense of entitlement. Hell–I can’t go to God believing He owes me something.
GenX might feel it’s ‘owed’ something but, if so, it’s because of what was created 2Gen before them. The Boomers got their ‘Great Society’ and it was less great then they hoped and has become far less ‘social’.
Really–and not to be a prick–but you’re not entitled to a damned thing. What you receive is a gift from the American people, like I have Veterans’ benefits. I’m grateful to my country for what I have, not b/c I somehow deserve it. So I was in the military? What I have is a gift from my fellow Citizens, not an entitlement.

becki51758 on September 13, 2009 at 5:47 PM
Well! CNN tossed the Bush Administration Softballs!
And they did it with the purpose of highlighting the crazy protestors who were impeding or damaging important debate.
Take Cindy Sheehan as just one example:
Didn’t you see them show Secretary Rumsfeld a photo of Cindy at her son’s cemetary with 12,000 media walking all over the graves? No? How about Cindy with Hugo Chavez?
How about Cindy at a rally with a poster behind her with President Bush’s visage modified to look like Hitler with the caption “World’s Number One Terrorist”?
They and all the networks asked several Bush administration officials about those and even worse posters at rallys and the New York Times penned several articles about the protesters tasteless and patently unfair treatment of the government and Republicans.
They also asked if this showed a basic hatred of white folks and the dominate culture of this country. A culture that has resulted in the most affluent, free and generous nation in history. They also had 40 years of the entire academic world, pop culture and media making it a crime to engage in Caucasianassination. With special crimes defined for acts against white (or even just patriotic folks).
Heck! Did all you guys miss that?

This isn’t about “coarsening,” it’s about an egocentric spoiled brat who can’t handle criticism. Obama just can’t believe that anyone could possibly disagree with him or find fault in him. He overlooks the coarse(understatement) dialogue by his own supporters and fellow Dems during his campaign, let alone during the Bush presidency. The only way he can legitimately do that is to truly believe he is perfectc so that no criticism of him is justified. So if you criticize perfection you must be coarse. But if those who support perfection use the same words and methods it is a reflection of his perfection and can’t be coarse. The man is a pathetic narcissist surrounded by advisors who use him for their own agendas

Google “boomers Obama Kennedy”, and you’ll see that was a popular talking point in 2008. The Boomers gave us JFK. They supported Teddy and his liberal ideology, because they clung to their youthful dreams of Camelot. They keep expecting more from their government and vote en masse — as a huge voting block — for more entitlements…
You will see these memes prominently and prodigiously repeated, so don’t get upset when people (especially of my younger generation who lived through the Me Decade as children) speak contemptuously of the Boomers. To me, they’re the spoiled and damaged children who grew up on canned food, often in single parent households, afraid of the atomic bomb; nihilistic, self-indulgent and utterly irresponsible.

I can’t finish a Maureen Dowd article. I used to grit my teeth and read them because I thought it was important to read what the opposition was saying, but this is a clearly deranged woman who projects her racism onto others who don’t engage in racism. I am so sick of hearing about racism every time some who is black or some other color than white is rebuked, opposed or criticized. (See Serena Williams yesterday). When I was a younger woman, I dated the United Nations, I have always taken people as individuals, not races and really, really resent the implication that if I stand for certain principles and values, but extention, I am automatically a racists. It is almost unbearable these days. I don’t give a crap if the president is purple, but I reserve the right to oppose his policies. How is it that the Left can ridicule, deride and belittle a president, but if the right does it, it is racist. What would they be saying about the opposition if Obama was all white, not just half? then what would the excuse be? Think about that.

People like Maher, and Modo and the entire white supremist elitist gang in media and entertainment want nothing more than to keep black folk in the “bubba out to git me slave mentality”. AA’s should be happy that hardcore conservatives treat blacks and the man-child in the office as adults who are 100% accountable and responsible for their own actions and words. Stop pretending like you care.
Take Maher for example–the man literally put his AA ex-gf into bondage and made her beg for his white peepee forcing her to call him ‘massa’. I kid you not.

They even defended President Bush just for being Texan!
They talked about the Alamo, the success of his family in the face of historic east coast and northern antipathy to brash successful families (even if they were forced to buy a house on the east coast to try to please people and conform) and his magical speaking ability (often without a teleprompter) which made the common man just want to have a beer with him. Chris Matthews called him a gift from Texas to all of us. MSNB compared him to oil, the Dallas Cowboys the “Don’t Mess With Texas!” slogan and TexMex food. Announcers on election night said that he made them want to strap on a six shooter and let their trigger fingers twitch. A cohost allowed that Chris and the others had too many beers and tacos.
They also rejoiced in the message his career sent to the world, that we were a tough, successful nation and cherished our western, pioneer roots.
The worst part was Dan Rather coming up with questionable documents stating that the young Bush was nominated for the Congressional Medal of Honor while in TANG. That went too far.
You missed that too, didn’t you? Where have you people been?

Thanks so much! It’s a return, I guess, and if it wasn’t given me I’d be just fine. The beauty, too, is that I pay taxes as well, and cover myself and other vets. Those other men and women also keep me free.
But it is truly a gift, for which I’m grateful. Otherwise, I might go lib on you and think it an entitlement. How horrible a thought is that?
The American people provide me and all other veterans a generosity from their own pockets. I am grateful to the end of my days. My gratitude might not be much but it’s all I have and I gladly give it freely.
Thank you again!

becki51758 on September 13, 2009 at 6:13 PM
Your veteran’s benefits might be a gift, but they are also an entitlement; every few years, the Government assures that your benefits are covered. You were promised those benefits as part of your enlistment package — that if you were wounded or injured in the line of duty, the Government (representing a grateful People) would take care of you. The Government views that hunk of the budget, like it views Social Security or Medicare, as a non-negotiable area. Any political party that attempts to change those benefits for the worse is committing political suicide. They are there “forever”.
Of course, these programs are not specified in the Constitution, and could be dropped or changed at any time. An entitlement is not a right — it is a part of the budget which really is not open to negotiation.
You’ve obviously used your veterans’ benefits so you don’t consider them tainted money, but should the Government up and take those benefits away, or tax you on those benefits as if they were income, how would you feel? If you would feel bad, then you understand what premature withdrawal of your entitlement means.
So, when you (or to put it another way, my kids) put me on that desert island, I will feel very bad.

What a racist!!! Do you have something against people who are short, fat and blue??? Explain yourself!! /

We’ve been over here in this corner wondering why Bush would have to be defended for being Texan….

I dated the United Nations. Then I found out she was cheating on me with China and Russia so I dumped her.

Hah! I doesn’t surprise me that such a leftist would delete comments they cannot answer.

I also pay taxes to cover those benefits my fellow Citizens grant me. If the government closes them down, so be it. I didn’t think about later benefits when I signed up. They’re a gift, not an entitlement in my eyes. If government shuts down all veterans’ benefits, you won’t find me somehow protesting on the streets. My dad, US Army 1937-1946, taught me self-sufficiency before the USAF did. The Lord gives and the Lrd takes away; blessed be the Name of the Lord.”
I also have a co-pay, with which I’m fine. I have no problem helping cover the expenses of treating myself and covering other vets. We’re a group, after all. And if my co-pay doubles or even triples, you’ll still never hear me complain.
My income taxes help pay, too, for myself and other vets. That’s probably the only place you’ll never hear me gripe about paying taxes, short of funding the military out the ass.
How is it my gratitude has become a problem? If it’s all dropped, I’ll be fine. I’m grateful here, and nothing more. Why am I suspect?

Your gratitude is not a problem, your fingerpointing at others is.

The latest WH whitewash of their duplicity is to accuse the opposition to their health-care bill as “game playing.” The only games being played are the half-truths and refusals to rebut facts with facts that Gibbs and Obama are hiding behind.
Were the interviewer more honest, he would have indicated the behind-the-scenes “adjustments” taking place in the bills since those charges re “death panels’ and insurance for illegals were made.
I wouldn’t even buy a Vege-matic from Gibbs…or Obamao

Well, Sir, here’s my take. Anybody who has put on that uniform to risk their life to protect my country and my happy ass has the right to call their veteran’s benefits whatever the hell they want.
Gift. Beef jerky. Lemonade. Whatever they want to call them.
You earned that right at a minimum and I, for one, will honor your request. And, I’d be damned happy if your “gift” was even larger.
Thanks for your service and patriotism.

At which others? The Boomers who spit on returning VN vets, when the MSM claims Boomers are all like them? Or is it the Boomers who all think the rest of their generation is like them–spitting on returning soldiers who have fought and died so they who sat home, with daddy paying their tuition, could spit on those troops?
Amazing–you try claiming I receive an entitlement when I call it gift, then mock me for calling it a gift and feeling grateful, then change the accusation that I fingerpoint. Which is it?
Yeah, I’ll point fingers at those who DARE spit on American soldiers. I make no apology for it, either.
Define your case–tell me at whom I point fingers. I’ll tell you why, too. Then, quid pro quo, you tell me why you’re so offended you mock me when I’m more Conservative than you are. Or is that the problem?

I noticed that Power Line de-listed LGF – saying the politics of CJ had strayed way beyond their tolerance.
This is a time when conservatives, libertarians and moderates need to be united, not set about in competing factions due to one issue or another.
Shoot – if CJ had his way, there would be about 9 guys/gals with the purity of thought and adherence to his strict line that are acceptable to fight the hordes of socialism and Islamo-fascism.
After years with LGF, I was banned for suggesting his calling everyone that voted for the European far right parties racists. I dared to say that many simply wanted their government to stand up to the Islamists, and there none of the main line parties were listening.
The one that listened got the votes. My warning was that the same thing could happen here. If one or the other of the parties does not stop the drift left and the accommodation of Islamists, a Ron Paul type will become more powerful.
My suggestion here – listening oh wondrous AP – is for the next year to limit the divisive stories that are meant to stir up the dust among us. We need to keep our eye on the proverbial target.
If we are not united for the next election, there may not be dust to stir up.
