Video: Tea partiers chant “Glenn Beck” during CNN live shot

posted at 3:37 pm on September 12, 2009 by Allahpundit

Revenge for the now legendary Susan Roesgen incident via TV Newser. Watch to the end or else you’ll miss the crowd reaction when she asks about Joe Wilson.

Update: To the great surprise of exactly no one, Wilson has now outraised opponent Rob Miller since Wednesday night’s ourburst.

Blowback

What an orderly, reasonable group of passionate citizens.

Yeah, its too bad your whole agenda looks to rape the American people wholesale. That always brings the American people onto the stage, and you know how they are. /sarc

If Wilson is so brave for “standing up to the President”, why did he immediately issue a groveling apology?

Most of us don’t applaud his apology. It wasn’t necessary. No American should have to sit still for Obama’s lies.

Well, as someone else pointed out, “You lie!” is now the most memorable part of Obama’s speech. In second place, the laughter when Obama said something about lots of details needing to be worked out.

Agreed. No self respecting American would, particularly if his job is to represent his constituents and to protect the Constitutional Government. TWO WORDS. With truth, Wilson galvanized American conservatives to his defense. And all those who took offense showed which side of the line they stand, with the lie or against the lie.

Random Numbers (Brian Epps) on September 12, 2009 at 4:38 PM

Exactly. The public has to discern between the original record and what the MSM spin into fabrication for their own purposes.

As a Senator, Wilson apologized to his colleagues, as the likes of John McCain made Wilson his personal whipping boy for having more guts than McCain these days.

J.D. Hayworth, are you going to run against John McCain this go ’round?! Or do you want back into the house, readying to take your seat back from Harry Mitchell?

maverick muse on September 12, 2009 at 4:45 PM

‘Bambi firing up supporters is like asking a toddler if they want a cookie – the devil is always in the details and this group will never ask the questions that need asking – because they fully expect somebody else to pay for the insanity that has engulfed D.C. since 1/20/09.

Why does CNN send out these reporters with open mics?

They do have the option of using microphones that don’t pick-up environmental/background noise/sounds, but CNN sends out these reporters to stand among crowds who then start yelling over the crowds with these mic-choices they’re making and insulting the crowds at that.

So it seems to me that CNN is engaged in intentional agitation of the public, that they’re inciting or efforting to incite a situation on air among the public, live audiences.

I don’t sympathize with CNN and I don’t watch it. Can’t stand that sort of theatre posing as “information”.

A few people on another post here were earlier suggesting that we watch CNN to show them some business (for a change) but I reject that suggestion. CNN continues to fail as any source I’d ever opt to view — or read, for that matter. MSNBC/NBC, utter waste, with CBS and ABC close to those, and CNN’s long since lost my good faith.

Nobama continues to campaign in Minneapolis. When is he going to start BEING a working President? He draws 15,000 supporters who were probably promised food and drink and maybe some entertainment to show up. More than 10 times that many show up in Washington DC having paid their own way to get there and not being promised anything except that they would get to exercise their RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH and most of the state run media ignores or belittles the event. On Yahoo.com they have a headline story about the house next to Nobama’s in Chicago being for sale. WHO CARES? Give us some meat in the news, not cotton candy.

I thought the CNN gal handled herself well, as did the anchorwoman back at the studio. She didn’t end the segment, but merely paused to allow the reporter to speak up over the crowd.

And kudos to the crowd for not saying anything nasty and quieting down to allow her to speak directly to them.

ckoeber on September 12, 2009 at 5:14 PM

“Support” though doesn’t equal “fanaticism”. They just support Joe Wilson’s speaking out, and then support him against the laughable NoDoz addiction charge. And whatever smears are in store for the guy in the future.

ddrintn on September 12, 2009 at 5:21 PM

Still, Wilson’s success — despite having been criticized by Republican leaders — represents the power of the conservative grassroots to reward politicians who confront the White House in the sharpest terms.

Yes, the immutable principles of Skinnerian Operant Conditioning are now in effect. We have to train these Politicians much in the same way we train rats to press a bar 1,000 times for one hit of cocaine. Essentially they are circus animals which must submit to our will.

Show me where a CNN reporter called the supporters fanatics.

You are making that up.

ckoeber on September 12, 2009 at 5:25 PM

So I guess that means the Smear Machine will be retired? Yeah, right.

The trends aren’t favorable to your side, crr6.

ddrintn on September 12, 2009 at 4:28 PM

Really? You think so? I think you’re in denial. This is just the beginning and conservatives/libertarians will no longer be the silent majority. The left is trying to hijack this country and they are spitting on the American people and the Constitution. Americans are waking up to their focus grouped manipulations and it’s not flying in the heartland.

As for the “smear machine” comment- you mean using their own words against them (Van Jones, ACORN) equates to smears now? Orwell would be proud.

alwaysright43 on September 12, 2009 at 4:53 PM

LOL. You guys go ahead and fight that out.

crr6 on September 12, 2009 at 5:25 PM

Where are the crowd estimates for this? I’d like to find them.

ckoeber on September 12, 2009 at 5:18 PM

1 million +/- 1 million.

Sorry about the high standard deviation. With such poor confidence limits its pretty much a crap shoot. Your guess is probably better.

I was using your quote. Anyway, you don’t have to have the exact word “fanatic” from CNN to plant the implication, do ya?

ckoeber on September 12, 2009 at 5:18 PM

I think there were something like 583 total, most of whom were no doubt former-Klan senior citizens suffering from dementia. I’ll spare you the MSNBC report on the thing.

ddrintn on September 12, 2009 at 5:32 PM

Obama on Healthcare bill. “I Own it”.

CBS) President Obama vows to get the “right” health-care bill signed, declaring in a 60 Minutes interview that “I own it” and that he will be ultimately responsible for the legislation

William Amos on September 12, 2009 at 5:32 PM

Oh YEAH! The feel good moment of the day.

warriorlawyer on September 12, 2009 at 5:32 PM

There must be a method to show disapproval at these Obama speeches. If the libs are going to jump up every 2 seconds clapping and blinking then the other side should be able to do something. The answer would be to ask that any applause be held to the end.

Haunches on September 12, 2009 at 5:33 PM

Notice how CNN didn’t make the mistake of sending a more well know reporter to cover the event. They’re afraid of the Susan Roesgen effect and don’t want to put any of their more high profile talking heads in the firring line in case they get called on their hypocrisy and bullsh*t by the protesters and made to look foolish on air.

I never called the protesters fanatics. You suggested that the CNN reporters are trying to portray that.

Looking at the video CNN was trying to show that the protesters supported Joe Wilson (which they do) but not as fanatics.

On top of that, the reporter also said that they were there to protest many grievances.

You seem to want to find this story of how CNN is portraying them as fanatics.

Not sure why.

The greatest thing that the election of Obama will give us, is the final nail in the coffin of the old boy network of MSM…they are being humiliated and destroyed week by week, as they stand by and allow truth to come to light…what a great gift by Obama…thank you!

right2bright on September 12, 2009 at 5:38 PM

Joe Wilson should follow Nancy’s invitation, go to the floor, not apologize, just say that Obama lies, and ask Nancy and Reid, et company, to apologize for all the insults they hurled at the town hall attendants, all summer. If they do, then so will he.

The time for conservative civility s/b over. They need to apply the same Saul Alinsky tactics they get.

The genie is out of the bottle. The left has been sniffed out.

Schadenfreude on September 12, 2009 at 4:13 PM

Our maybe just read from a few short transcripts of what Obama has said during the past few years and/or read some of what is in the bill (as it stood at the time of Obama’s speech) and read what Republicans had proposed about citizenship verification and how the Dems had rejected it (as things stood at the time of Obama’s speech).

Then say that he, for the life of him, just doesn’t understand how he could have misinterpreted any of that to think that Obama was being anything less than totally truthful and then walk off whistling “I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy”.

They’re stuck now. They openly supported Obama throughout the election and have actively campaigned and run interference for him since. Now that he’s going bad, they can either admit they were wrong or not admit it. Either way, the MSM’s credibility is shot.

Rupert Murdoch should start planning to buy up some of their assets. Maybe consider starting up another news network – FOX World or something…

Look, this whole “I stood up to the President” may be good for Rep. Joe Wilson personally (and in his District) and the base but it isn’t winning over any independants or people leaning towards the Democratic party.

No one is going to vote Republican simply due to to shoutouts by Congressmen. Once again all this is highlighting is the fact that Republicans oppose the President (nothing new) but what all of this isn’t highlighting are the ideas that the Republicans have.

I’m sorry, this rally is all about energizing people who are already voting or supporting Republicans.
