Video: Tea partiers chant “Glenn Beck” during CNN live shot

posted at 3:37 pm on September 12, 2009 by Allahpundit

Revenge for the now legendary Susan Roesgen incident via TV Newser. Watch to the end or else you’ll miss the crowd reaction when she asks about Joe Wilson.

Update: To the great surprise of exactly no one, Wilson has now outraised opponent Rob Miller since Wednesday night’s ourburst.

Lots of folks on AR15.com have donated, including the owner of LaRue tactical in Texas, who sent 1k.

Wilson has friends who appreciate him saying what everyone is thinking.

I never said they didn’t coordinate. What I said was that they didn’t have Fox News (meaning a major news organization) announcing day in and day out that they were going to protest on said day.

They organized themselves.

They didn’t have ONE news source…they had MOST news sources. That just won’t fly, sorry.

CNN didn’t set them up so that they would be seen as fanatics. Supporters, yes. Fanatics? NO.

ckoeber on September 12, 2009 at 8:51 PM

ck, I gotta take back some of the snark from my previous posts. In my defense it isn’t often we get civil lefties here so it’s fun to play ‘poke the troll’.

I still disagree with your previous posts, but your poise deserves the same in kind.

As for CNN’s coverage, even though they started off a little shaky, I also agree that they did a pretty good job today.

Onus on September 12, 2009 at 9:01 PM

Announcing something is going to happen is different than PROMOTING something day in and day out.

ckoeber on September 12, 2009 at 8:54 PM

Yes…and no. That’s some mighty fine hair splitting. I’m not arguing that Fox “promoted” today’s event (don’t watch so I don’t know). But it is precisely because I am conceding that point that I have a hard time believing that the left got a better result while NOT getting similar promotion.

ddrintn on September 12, 2009 at 8:57 PM

You seem to be confusing announcing an event with promoting an event.

Announcing an event is simply saying “This protest will happen on said day in said park or square”.

Promoting an event is repeatedly announcing an event the above day in and day out for weeks.

I repeat, no major news organization announced day in and day out (or promoted) that the anti-war protests were going to happen when they did.

If you can point to a major news network that repeatedly for weeks said that the anti-war protests were going to happen I’ll concede right now.

ckoeber on September 12, 2009 at 9:19 PM

Oh, you’re absolutely right. All demonstrations put on by lefties are completely spontaneous, utterly grassroots sorts of things. All of them. They have no help or promotion from national media whatsoever. Unlike the right, who look to Fox News to tell them and inspire them to show up for every demonstration and every town hall they attend. Completely right about that.

The past 8 years never happened anyway. The left were always gracious during that time; never a hard word for anyone that opposed their views. They always demonstrated completely spontaneously and always in an orderly fashion. They were and are the models of civility and polite discourse and had and continue to have the most painstaking respect for the reputations and good name of their political opponents. Always.

Heh. Yep. I too remember the before time…the long long ago when all was rainbows, fluffy bunnies and sunshine. Unlike the divisive partisan rancor of today. Why can’t conservatives just admit to being the lowlife redneck corporate-sponsored trash that they are? No one hated Bush, they just disagreed with his policies. Not so with these Obama-bashing mouth-breathing racists. They don’t oppose his policies (they’re too dumb to even understand them) they just hate him because he is black.

Would that we could return to that golden long long ago…if only the right would just STFU.

What CNN and the Libs want is a Conservative to get down and bow at their feet so they can watch him grovel for media acceptance. You see in D.C. you MUSTbow at the feet of the all powerful Liberal Media.

My message for Joe Wilson and the GOP leadership?

Tell CNN to go SUCK IT!!!

“Update: To the great surprise of exactly no one, Wilson has now outraised opponent Rob Miller since Wednesday night’s ourburst.”—–I read somewhere that Miller was in the hole $400,000 last week, still trying to pay off his debts from his last failure. So if Wilson’s lead holds he should remain at least a half mil ahead of Miller. Don’t want to count prenatal poultry, but I think Wilson will be in good shape next year.

WarEagle01 on September 13, 2009 at 1:10 AM

The only trouble I have with the shouting is there wasn’t more of it. The MSM is going to bash conservative always anyway so it is pointless to try to get on their good sides. Much better to have that look of fear in their eyes.

Sorry, he doesn’t think there is anything TO respect…to him it is an office to make fun of: one which has been held by pretenders and clowns, and that must be why he feels so very, very comfy there.
I used to want to wash my (now twenty-something) kids’ mouths’ out when they were teenagers and called someone an “ass clown.” I now think that is the most appropos description of our president (God help us!)I can think of.

Don’t want to count prenatal poultry, but I think Wilson will be in good shape next year.

I like Beck .. I find him to be intellectual, introspective, and reasoned at most times.

But Glen .. really .. if you can help it, stop with the crying. It’s embarassing, provides laugh-points to distract from your message, and adds nothing to the strength of your outstanding journalism.

cgoode777 on September 13, 2009 at 3:29 AM

I was there today. A gentleman was there and said CNN was blocking the view of the large crowd with their van and was focusing on a smaller group. Crowd was PISSED. The reporter would not show the enormous crowd behind them.

joshlbetts on September 13, 2009 at 4:02 AM

It’s now 1:32 am here on the west coast where Fox New programming can be downright disgusting. Geraldo Rivera is doing his best at kissing Obama’s program of government healthcare by playing the race card, not once, but twice during this one segment. Ann Coulter and Governor Huckabee are verbally castrating Rivera and his “fair and balanced” leftward guest that are making the claim that the thousands that turned out for the tea parties this weekend only represent 20% of the nation. Rivera reads from an LA Times op-ed that claims these protesters are made up of “angry white folk”.

Rivera comes on after a break and actually reads from an emailer that says, “Rivera, your suggestion that Joe Wilson’s outburst was a racist statement against Obama has no place in this argument, and Ann Coulter is right, this is something she would expect from a host at MSNBC.”

The only thing I can say right now concerning Rivera, is “Mr. Rivera, you are an embarrassment to the human race. And your ridiculous claim that people in this nation that are sick of paying their hard earned tax dollars to subsidize 12 million illegal immigrant’s healthcare is some how “racist” is just that—RIDICULOUS! You, sir, are an idiot and so is every politician that makes this ludicrous argument about RACE. This attempt of our government to take control of our healthcare industry IN NOT ABOUT YOUR FRIGGIN’ RACE. It’s about every U.S. citizen of this great nation fed up with their government representatives turning a blind eye and breaking the rule of law. You don’t like the current laws Mr. Rivera? Change them through the process that makes our laws.”

Rant over……

(Fox News should really consider getting rid of this moron–I’m sure MSNBC and their liberal minions would welcome him with open arms.)

Just a thought: We do disservice to every tea party marcher yesterday to elevate Beck to the leader of this movement. I like Glenn, but he wasn’t even much involved when I went to the first tea party in Tulsa on 2/29. He became involved in March and may have set the 9/12 date with his 9-12 project, but we have had no one “organizer” to these tea parties. In February we were already talking about a march on Washington. This was just the realization of that. I thank Glenn for his support, but this isn’t about Glenn Beck. And personally, the only person I wish were at the tea party that wasn’t was Michelle Malkin.

I love this, today i watched
a good sermon by Dr charles stanley
It was about
ACCOUNTABILITY..

Gee imagine that
He even said the reason americans are so angry
is because we know our own politiicans
are not accountable to us and as a result of this
Billions of dollars and tens of thousands of weapons
are now in the hands of Islamic terrorists
who use these funds and weapons to harm our own troops

the entire congregation roared its approval..

Now this is the Quiet dr charles stanley
and if this godly man sees this
and the congregation sees this
and all the american people see this

Our politiicans better stop this vile crap now.
Or they will see all of americas BOOT as we kick
them all out of office

And i do mean ALL of them
both parties..

I understand (and share) the disgust the from the whole Susan Roesgen incident at the Chicago rally in April (which I attended), but they couldn’t have picked a more inappropriate recipient for that residual anger than Lisa Desjardins.

Notice how she kept her cool in a situation where other reporters under identical circumstances would have either lost their train of thought, tried to debate the crowd, delivered their report dripping with sarcasm, or all of the above. Lisa did none of those things, and actually, if you listened, defended Joe Wilson’s reputation as someone who “cares about things like honor” and “is generally mild mannered.” Lisa is not liberal and she’s not conservative — she reports both sides with never even the slightest hint of bias. I know because Lisa has been on my radio show about a million times and is always 100% objective, professional, and outstanding.

Reporters are like politicians — Despite so many bad ones, there are actually a lot of really, really good ones out there. Lisa Desjardins is one of them.
