Wow, I just spent some time over at Little Green Footballs reading about today’s events.

I won’t make that mistake again. I’m so confused. I always thought that was a ‘conservative’ minded site. Whoa.

bridgetown on September 12, 2009 at 8:15 PM

LGF hasn’t been conservative since 2004. The owner is liberal who was scared to conservatism by 9/11, and then reverted back to liberalism for HopenChange.

Charles lost it a while back. It all started with a fight between himself and other bloggers who supported some anti-Islamist European parties that Charles was erroneously convinced had Nazi links. The other bloggers tried to politely debate the issue with him on his site; he got pissy, banned them and anyone who tried to defend them. Since then he’s been moving steadily left, while obsessing over Neo-Nazis and Creationists. Most of the good commenters were banned or left disgusted. It’s sad really; it was once a good site.

The picture with the title reminds me of the demonstration in Iran against voter fraud. I never thought it could be done in America. When I came out of the metro station I was transfixed by the enormity of it all. God bless America.

Way to go Glenn Beck! Way to use your microphone to influence people to march! Keep It UP! Glenn Beck for President!/sarc. I’m sorry I couldn’t resist. It’s beautiful to see these passionate Americans turn out to protest (even though I don’t understand the core message)but conservatives owe it to us Americans to have elected officials in charge of the G.O.P. rather than television hosts. Can you imagine how silly Keith Olby would look if he did something like this? To say the MSM is dominated by liberals, it’s pretty interesting that never has one of those MANY filthy, liberal networks or television hosts sponsored a march and protest tour against government policies. Conservatives are now letting the ‘underground’ media outlet FOX NEWS tell them where to go and what to do, that’s scary. I know, I know, FOX is the only network telling the truth blah, blah, blah, and your just jealous Stonekrab, blah, blah, I get it, lol. Fox News/Glenn Beck owns the GOP. tell you the truth, it would be great if…I don’t know Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty could do something like this? Just some food for thought.

So, he added a feature where the registered commenters could see who clicked the plus and minus signs. Then factions started to form.

That is entirely true. And even I do share his concerns regarding the creationists pushers on the right, I don’t think that this is a time when we can afford the luxury of a civil war among us. We should be united no matter if we are libertarians, conservatives or moderates. It’s not a time for nuances.

I will say now that the experience was POSITIVE, ENTHUSIASTIC and UPLIFTING. And I will tell you, whatever the media is reporting about attendance, it is being deliberately under-estimated. I have never, never, never, seen such walls of humanity in one place before. And we paid for our own bus tickets, our own expenses and no one gave us talking points. My question is WHY did it take an entertainer/comedian to get all these people to march on Washington and protest, when THIS President is simply continuing the spending practices of the last 2 presidents? On the Metro this morning, I got a huge lump in my throat…I witnessed two strangers, one old, one young. The older was a vet, the younger shook his hand, thanked him for his service, and the both of them got red-eyed and sniffed hard, blinking back the tears. Ahhh, folks, it was a beautiful sight…all these people who love their country so much.

“Sleeping Giant”? I hear that getting thrown around a lot these days by conservatives, as if they’ve been repressed for the last 8 years. The term “Sleeping Giant” refers to a group or institution that has been silent for a long period of time due to oppression. Regardless as to whether conservatives want to distance themselves from the last 8 yrs. it is still theirs to own. Who were those people with cowboy hats chanting “four more years”…Republicans? Conservatives? I believe it wasn’t a difference back then, but now that the GOP got their butts kicked at the polls, conservatives say, “Oh, it was the REPUBLICANS fault, not us! They were all too moderate and RINO’s!” lol. I call bs. The people protesting out of control spending now, are SOME of those same chanting, “four more years” even after billions of dollars was already spent and the evidence was there that it wasn’t going to cease. This ‘tea-party’ stuff is about so much more than spending…I’m not stupid, and neither are the conservatives who attend these rallies, there are deeper and darker elements of American society and culture that are driving these rallies, someone on the right just needs to admit it.

ksm on September 13, 2009 at 12:03 AM

For those that believe that we can ever band together as a unified country again, I offer irrefutable evidence to the contrary. StoneKrab.

Stupid libs cry about Bush’s spending as if it was in any way comparable to Obama. The bulk of the “excess” spending under Bush was to fight a war. Save the argument about how we got in that war for another discussion. Once the war was declared, it had to be fought and won.

Yes, there was TARP. Democrats sure didn’t object to that spending. A few Republicans did, though. I sure did.

In fact, I defy SK or anyone to name any spending done in the Bush presidency that they did not support, with the exception of the war. It is a damn lie when they claim that “Bush spent us into this mess”, or at least it’s hypocrisy.

Dems and libs have no financial sense whatsoever. And seemingly no concept of a democratic republic, or limited government either.

Yes, SK. It is about the spending. But also about the basic concept of the role of government.

No, SK. It doesn’t have a DAMN thing to do with race.

This ‘tea-party’ stuff is about so much more than spending…I’m not stupid,

…..

That’s debatable.

No, it’s proven:

“so, when Yamamoto made his historic comment about waking a sleeping Giant when talking about Pearl Harbor, America was oppresed?”

Oh my!

artist on September 13, 2009 at 12:14 AM

You guys, the SK character is totally Alinsking you. We have to turn the argument from Bush and his spending to making them defend Obama’s quadrupling the deficit. Obama and the dems owns the government make them defend their actions today not what happened last however many years ago.

bkm on September 13, 2009 at 12:32 AM

Jeez. There sure are a lot of trolls around lately. Hee hee. Reading their comments, I think they sound a little nervous.

bitsy on September 13, 2009 at 12:49 AM

bkm Very good advice. But we need to consider that this SK person could actually be CJ from LGF because he sure sounds like him. No, wait, SK actually sounds more sane than CJ which isn’t saying much.

Whippet on September 13, 2009 at 12:52 AM

I don’t know who that is. I have read too many blogs and posts where the past gets thrown in our face and we waste time defending it rather than going on offense. It is time to turn the page on these guys and hit back.

bkm on September 13, 2009 at 1:00 AM

I just looked at some of the pics from the KKK Teaparty shindig and the only thing they appear to be protesting are salads, hygiene, and higher education.

dcwvu on September 13, 2009 at 1:07 AM

bkm. I totally agree with you. The problem is these guys are so into hero worship of the “One” that they can’t think on their own. Or maybe it’s that they can’t think on their own which is why they worship Obama. Doesn’t really matter which it is butit’s not worth the effort. You can’t hit back at people who don’t see reality. Plus it’s just a game to them. They really believe they are the smartest people around and they have all the answers even though they give none. They’re just parrots and repeat what they’ve been taught. They understand little else.

Whippet on September 13, 2009 at 1:14 AM

And another parrot flies in.

Whippet on September 13, 2009 at 1:16 AM

I was at the Quincy, Illinois Tea Party today that was held in their Washington Park, site of the one of the Lincoln-Douglas debates. Interestingly, the Lincoln debate in 1858 was said to have 12,000 in attendance, and that was also the estimate of the crowd today. The park was filled. It was a fabulous day, the weather was perfect, people were upbeat, happy to be there, and just plain salt-of-the-earth nice people. I heard Glenn Beck interview Andrew Breitbart (he lives near L.A.) and he jokingly said he didn’t know how to behave around such nice people.

Speakers: Andrew Breitbart (he was fabulous and funny), Instapundit (Glenn Reynolds), Kevin Jackson (author of The Big Black Lie, also a funny guy), lots of locals from Illinois and also St. Louis, also the guy who created Gateway Pundit, the one who helped out Van Jones as a Truther.

Some of the Tea Party organizers were talking about “what’s next.” Well, stay tuned. What they plan is smaller but it will have a big effect. It’s straight out of the Alinsky playbook.

This is great stuff and WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED.

labwriter on September 13, 2009 at 1:22 AM

You are right that it is a game to them. They win when we take the bait and engage in the game.
I don’t think it should be about changing their minds, they aren’t trying to change ours, they just want to needle and agitate so let’s needle and agiatate back.

bkm on September 13, 2009 at 1:24 AM

New York Times writes “Thousands attend”

That is officially evil journalism. A flat out lie through omission.

“Millions attend” is more like it.

scotash on September 13, 2009 at 1:28 AM

Just posted at Little Green Footballs:

“According to the Washington DC Fire Department, there were between 60,000 and 70,000 people at today’s tea party protest. (Nowhere near the 2,000,000+ being claimed at some right wing blogs.)”

What a joke he’s become. How the mighty have fallen…

Whippet on September 13, 2009 at 1:30 AM

I think the fact the lefties are out in droves tonight is proof that the protest in DC today needled and agitated them like never before. Their rules are being used against them and they have no idea what to do about it.

Wow. You certainly have an exaggerated sense of self. I assure you no one is worried or concerned. We won last year. Get over it. We are still celebrating. I appreciate the Teabaggers rally…it’s fun to look at the pictures and play “spot the beer gut”. It’s just like “Where’s Waldo?” but with TONS of Waldos in each pic.

dcwvu on September 13, 2009 at 1:42 AM

I saw absolutely no counter-demonstrators.

ksm on September 13, 2009 at 12:03 AM

They had been bussed to Minneapolis for the day

macncheez on September 13, 2009 at 1:42 AM

Sure looks like all the Waldos were enjoying themselves on the mall. Good for them!

theTarCzar on September 13, 2009 at 1:53 AM

A quote today in Quincy, Illinois from Andrew Brietbart, when he was talking about the media’s role in the recent coverage/non-coverage of events, referring to it as “pure insanity.” “You want a war?” Breitbart asked of the media. “Well, then it’s a war you’re going to get.” He encouraged the crowd to “stay tuned, you are going to enjoy the next week. That’s all I’m going to say.”

Don’t feed the trolls, it just encourages them to hang around and hijack the thread.

Could someone mention that to Obama so he gets off the eternal campaign trail and starts doing his job, like governing.

bkm on September 13, 2009 at 2:05 AM

dcwvu on September 13, 2009 at 1:42 AM

The fear is great with this one. It emanates from every comment he makes.

csdeven on September 13, 2009 at 2:07 AM

Obama doesn’t know what a job is and he certainly doesn’t know how to govern. Campaigning is the only thing he knows!

I feel really letdown that the US allows people to graduate from high school with your level of english grammar mastery.
