Oh god, I truly hate this beck. This is a classic case of love the message, but hate the messenger.

But it’s weird though. Remember when Rush’s star rose when Clinton was in office. Now, I guess Beck’s star is rising because of Barry.

But ultimately I do love how beck leaves the left frothing at the mouth. Now that is priceless.

I used to listen to Glenn 10 years ago on the radio in Tampa. He had this unique act where he’d ad-lib through a Paul Harvey like story, but with dramatic background music and outrageous oratory tricks. It sometimes fell flat like all experimental performance art, but it was frequently brilliant!

Glenn may eclip Rush some day.

And GrannyDee – if you read this, I’m curious which state you are in. I’m originally from Ohio, where ACORN is and was very active. I have friends at Board of elections in Cuyahoga County who are still trying to sort out voter reg’s from August 2008. Sound familiar?

Gosh, poor Drywall, it sounds like his brain injury was even worse than rumored. I guess having to wait 8 months for Canadian emergency brain surgery was about 71/2 months too long to wait. It’s a shame, but what can you expect from Canadian health care?

I’m sure Glenn Beck wouldn’t really care what you thought about him personally as long as he knew you supported doing the right thing by extricating our federal government from this corrupt organization.

You always struck men as one of the smarter and more informed libs. When I read you on this issue it seems I was wrong or you really can’t refute what Beck is saying and doing. Beck is getting results along with blogs, citizen journalists and every day Americans. It must suck to have everything lined up perfectly and not be able to get results. Maybe what your side is trying to do is not at all popular and you and yours have completely misread the last election. Anyways, good luck.

I will say that Beck had a point about the building of the freedom towers(or whatever they call it) taking so long. If it took 400 days to build the Empire St. building, why isnt the darn thing built? Everyone blames everyone else…it is an embarrassment.

Here is a reply I got from one of my post over on a NY Giants fan site. I asked this question earlier yesterday and eventually, I got some facts from a poster.

I’m involved in the reconstruction, here is my take:

The clean up dragged on in deference to victims and first responders. Not commenting on whether thats good or bad its just a fact.

The initial design discussion dragged on way too long. Much of this preceded my involvement but its clear there were too many chefs, most of whom are now irrelevant. Personally I love the Calatrava design that was chosen. It will be awesome when completed, people will marvel at it 100 years from now. Fortunately, bureaucrats have been unable to piss on his vision and many have tried.

The actual design for the Caltrava transportation Hub dragged on too long but its an incredibly complex project. Multiple stakeholders, four huge office towers all intertwined, huge central chiller plant, the memorial, a performing arts center a huge vehicle security center that also passes through all these facilities with the transportation hub linking everything. they are all interdependent to a large degree below grade.

As for building in the city, crazy as it sounds, its not really the city. They have no oversight, issue no permits. Its a PA site, free form local and state BS. You think its taking long now? Imagine Shelly Silver or the city council holding sway.

Someone mentioned corruption, far from it. Although the original contractor on the Hub project was a total failure, nothing illegal was going on. Tere is tons of oversight on a state and federal level. They just sucked, put the B team on the project, and sucked the PA dry for as long as they could while they missed every key deliverable imaginable. They have been tossed and the project is being rebid in multiple packages.

All the original schedules were politically motivated and unrealistic. I give Paterson credit, he’s a realist. Ward has his shit together and dates will be made. You will see an open Memorial on 9/11/11.

Fuck Silverstein. He got screwed in the beginning but he’s been bleeding the PA for years. Collecting 300K per day with no intention of building towers 2 or 3. Worm has turned on him and parties are back to arbitration. he may no be so fortunate this time. he has five years to be substantially compete or some other legal definition on those two towers or he is losing them. T4 is moving and above ground, T1 is moving.

Its not discussed much but one major problem is the subway. there is 1000 feet of elevated train going right through the center of the site. they should have knocked the 1 line down for five years and they would have saved hundreds of millions of dollars and years off construction. Instead they propped it up on stilts while the excavate and build around it.

Go to the site if you haven’t been there in awhile. Its no longer a hole, that is for sure. Contracts are let, contractors are building and building fast. You’ll see T4 and Freedom Tower reaching high very soon. As mentioned the Memorial will be open to a large degree in two years. that may seem like along time but they are building a city underneath it. One of the most complex and secure cities ever constructed.
