Video: Reaction to Joe Wilson on “The View” exactly what you’d expect
posted at 7:56 pm on September 10, 2009 by Allahpundit
I owe you a post to mark Meggie Mac’s two days of guest-hosting, if only to give you a chance to hammer me in the comments for my prior boosterism of her. She’s not quite the worst offender here; that would be Joy, for her sub-idiotic whining about the GOP’s “body language” at the very end. But do savor the irony of La McCain chiding us about the virtues of civility (“We cannot have this kind of dialogue in this country”) after (a) participating in an ad campaign that reduces opponents of gay marriage to “H8ers” and (b) holding up her dad, whose temper is so legendary that it actually became a campaign issue in a presidential election, as a model of mellow bipartisanship. Quote of the day, or maybe of the whole year: “People ask me how I became this type of Republican. It comes from the top.”
Newsbusters has much more, including some of The View’s own great moments in civility over the years (sample: Whoopi asking Meggie’s father if slavery was back on the table should he win the election). Exit question: Sherri Shepherd was up until 1 a.m. dialing Joe Wilson’s office to complain? The speech ended at nine.

I’m defending regular women, NOT Megan McCain. If you have a daughter or niece that is overweight would you want her to see you and your buddies rag on someone else who is apparently overweight like that? Would you think that they then may feel like shit because being overweight is eeeeevvviiillllllllll and anyone with even an ounce of fat on their body is a piece of crap who should just die?
Stop acting like libs. They argue diction and such because they can’t argue the point. You CAN argue the point regarding why MM is wrong, but yet you “argue the diction” as well.
DethMetalCookieMonst on September 10, 2009 at 10:34 PM
Lighten up, Francis. You sure are taking a lot of time and energy defending the vapid twit, who deserves the mockery because of her public idiocy.
atheling on September 10, 2009 at 10:36 PM
You are obviously ignorant as to the reasons why her weight is an issue. Listening to you complain is like listening to her speak about conservative values. Clearly neither one of you has the first clue about that of which you speak.
csdeven on September 10, 2009 at 10:37 PM
McShamnesty’s bulbous daughter is so vapid, that when someone called her a RINO, she thought they were talking about her weight.
csdeven on September 10, 2009 at 10:38 PM
McShamnety’s daughter is so fat….
she has to iron her pants in the driveway.

Then you probably shouldnt look at this site, the author of this article is just like one of those ragging buddies you brought up.
rinohumper on September 10, 2009 at 10:41 PM
Okay, then. WHY is her weight an issue in regards to her views in politics? Is their a weight requirement or something that you can’t exceed if you have a certain opinion?
DethMetalCookieMonst on September 10, 2009 at 10:42 PM
It’s like this…..you can only rebutt Moogan so many times on her idiocy, her vapid insistence on things like “if the GOP were only more like Penthouse Forum we’d win all the elections”, and such before you shrug your shoulders and decide that it is time to harvest the beef….so to speak.
sven10077 on September 10, 2009 at 10:44 PM
I’ve stated that I don’t agree with her. Now let’s see you make fat jokes about a women the same size as her with whom you agree with. Let’s see some intellectual honesty.
DethMetalCookieMonst on September 10, 2009 at 10:44 PM
What would you expect for a token liberal pinata.
The President threw her dad Neville a scrap so of course Joe Wilson is a bad bad boy.
Speakup on September 10, 2009 at 10:44 PM
She goes around and bitches about conservatives in the GOP. She pretends to be “enlightened” over us rubes.
Hence, the mockery. She opened herself up to it when she started mocking us.
Now go pout in a corner.
atheling on September 10, 2009 at 10:45 PM
A RINO without portfolio.
Time for Meg to devote some of that trust fund to a spa.
And maybe a few works to leaven her yawning vacuity.
The Fragments of Heraclitus, the remnants Sappho, The Dialogues of Plato, Herodotus and Thucydides’ Histories, The Wasps and Lysistrata by Aristophanes, Catullus’ poems, The Analects of Confucius, The Mumonkan, and the 19th century novel “Hypatia”, for starters.
A little grounding in the conceptual bases of our Civilization couldn’t hurt, especially when opening your mouth for a glitz ‘paycheck’.

Nothing would have made me happier than for all of the candidates last year to have left the kids out….including sadly Sarah…..
since Ed can be bothered to protect the Ogabe kids with instabanning but never managed to get around to doing the same for Sarah’s….
Moogan, dearest Moogan…she of the 18 month thus far GOP registration deciding to crown herself the Pepsi-Cola of the Grande Olde Party merits as much disdain as I can craft on a given moment.
sven10077 on September 10, 2009 at 10:53 PM
Snobs.
I imagine if Sarah Palin (who I like) had the body of Meggy-Mac most of you would still say how good looking she is and never attack her on your weight.
DethMetalCookieMonst on September 10, 2009 at 10:54 PM
I’m going to have to take the other side of this issue my good friend(in my best John Mcain voice)
She brought her weight into this whole thing when she told us to “kiss her fat ass”.
If she was a conservative I would giver her pass or maybe just slap that fat ass and say good job but alas she crossed over.
kangjie on September 10, 2009 at 10:57 PM
Sarah Palin’s beauty is in her character….
Moogan McCain’s is in her exit.
sven10077 on September 10, 2009 at 11:00 PM
I was pissed off at her dad that day, so I -emailed her saying….”fat chance, my lips simply aren’t big enough”
sven10077 on September 10, 2009 at 11:01 PM
The other thing about her is she tryed to gin up a fight with Ann Coulter just to promote her career(or start a career). Ann didn’t take the bait but Laura ingraham jumped in.
If she wanted to be a legit journalist more power to her but this was just fake all the way.

rinohumper on September 10, 2009 at 11:12 PM
OK. It centered around Laura Ingrams remark about MeggiMac and “The Real World”. Meggie took it as an insult to her weight when it was actually an insult to her vapid stupidity.
Remember, Meggie knew nothing of politics until last year, and here she is lecturing people who have been doiing this for 50 years. As a public service to MeggieMac, we insult her weight so she will from now on be able to tell the difference between an insult to her lack of intelligence and an observation of just exactly how fat her humongous ass is.
csdeven on September 10, 2009 at 11:14 PM

Meghan McCain is a joke. She has made herself a joke.

DethMetalCookieMonst, to engage moomac on her “ideas” demeans the very name of “idea”, we would just like her to shut up and go away as she adds zero to the public discourse but has value as an “useful idiot” and some sort of cudgel to bash conservatives with for the left, her only weakness is her vanity because like every other lib she is NEVER wrong about what she “thinks”, she’s just some pseudo-celebrity(e lister?)with no talent and an eating problem.

I wonder what a guy could get out of Meghan McCain for a super-sized BigMac combo meal and a chocolate shake on a Saturday night.
Meh. Otherwise, she’s still just a vapid bubble-headed snob riding Daddy’s coattails on teevee. Puh-LENTY of container with zero content.
SilverStar830 on September 10, 2009 at 11:51 PM
So the View consensus is Obama’s a beta male, and he needs their protection because someone yelled Liar at him? So the leader of the free world is so weak, he needs his media loons to attack anyone who dares speak loudly to him? Why what happens does he curl up into the fetal position? The Media is turning the President into a clown by all their buffoonery -their sycophantic behavior. That causes a GAG reaction that gets related straight back to the object of their “Collective” desires. I could stomach Obama a lot better without all the slobbering toadies. Their Slobbering behavior just reinforces he is weak, delicate to fragile for anything like someone yelling Liar at him….sad this is the Commander and Chief, and he can’t figure out how this makes him LOOK to the rest of us?
Dr Evil on September 10, 2009 at 11:53 PM
The libs making an issue out of Wilson shows they are losing. Obama is betting the ranch on health care and sky high expectations on the speech were set. He didn’t deliver and they know it. If he had hit a home run last night nobody would be talking about Joe Wilson. It is all GOOD.
echosyst on September 10, 2009 at 11:57 PM
Sarah has a brain. There is much to admire about her. If she were to gain 100lbs like MegMac she’d still be a conservative intellectual powerhouse.
If MegMac slimmed down, she’d just be a dumb blonde.

Off topic… this from a WaPo article on today’s rehearing of the FEC case…
” Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Russell Feingold (D-Wis.) were in the courtroom for the arguments, as was Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who has argued that the law should be struck down.
McCain and Feingold issued a statement after the arguments reminding Roberts that they had voted for him because of his confirmation-hearing promise to respect precedents. Overturning these, they said, “would completely contradict that promise, and could have serious consequences for our democracy.”"
Is Sen. McCain trying to intimidate the judiciary?

What is the biggest difference between conservatives like Michele Malkin, Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter and a moderate/liberal like Meghan McCain????
About 160 pounds
In The Flesh on September 11, 2009 at 1:00 AM
It’s 100% better now than in the first few months. People are speaking out, and they are speaking out about policy, which is appropriate.
Even this guy’s “You lie!” is raising the issue that is on a lot of people’s minds, whether liberal, moderate, or conservative. What ABOUT the illegal residents? Where DO they fit in?
There’s value in discussion, regardless of what anyone says. We are used to a very polite decorum, and I hate to see that go. Watching the Brits as they boo, etc., always made me glad for our system.
But this sure wasn’t the big deal everyone is making it out to be, other than they have to make a point that it’s OK to throw a shoe, Bush doesn’t get credit for also being gracious about that, and Obama is somehow different.
Nonsense. Bush was as gracious or more.

AnninCA on September 11, 2009 at 1:03 AM

1) Talking about how hip and cool she is.
2) Bragging about her tattoos
3) Suggesting that her youth makes her more relevant than older republicans.
That is why her fat-ass-ness is relevant. She made it relevant.
Bottom damn line: Better to be smart, attractive, fit, and slightly middle aged than fat, ugly, stupid and youger.

I guess I’m the only person on the right-ish side of the political spectrum who thinks Meaghan McCain is, if nothing else of worth, at least nice to look at. Maybe I’m stuck in 1960, when women didn’t look right without curves. Or conservatives just hold up Ann Coulter as their ideal conservative woman. (shudder)
Oh, Miss McCain hasn’t got a thought in her head. She rides her father’s (R) as an excuse to be an idiot who spends her time deriding the GOP as some kind of self-righteous inquisition.
Remember, Meaghan; a witch hunt in a church is still a witch hunt.

Look, I understand that most people on this site don’t much care for Meaghan McCain, or her political views. And I’d like to think that this site maintains a higher standard of decorum and good taste than, say, DailyKos or the Huffington Post.
So why is maybe one of every five posts on this thread shooting down Miss McCain’s actual viewpoints or statements, and the rest are talking about how fat she is? Is that what constitutes intelligent discourse, from behind the anonymity of the Internet? Disparaging someone’s looks instead of the logic of their arguments? Freaking sad. This comment thread has all the depth of an issue of US Magazine, and HotAir is worse off for it.
Spc Steve on September 11, 2009 at 7:55 AM
There’s no sensible discourse on Meghan McCain because nobody takes her seriously.
She receives airtime on the strength of her surname and her disparaging remarks on real Republicans. Her “Conservatives can be young and hip too, why, just look at me as an example! I have tattoos! Take that, square old white men!” Shtick is pathetic and only worthy of scorn.
