Nielsen ratings: So You Think You Can Dance tops So You Think You Can Lie
posted at 6:25 pm on September 10, 2009 by Allahpundit
To the great surprise of no one except Robert Gibbs, airing a reality show in lieu of yet another rerun of “If You Like Your Plan, You Can Keep Your Plan” was a good idea — in all the important demographics, anyway. No word on what the over-50 crowd was tuned into, but given the way The One’s polling with seniors these days he’d better hope they had “Dance fever” too.
Hard numbers: 31.8 million total viewers across 10 networks for Obama’s speech. That’s a decent pick-up from his heath-care presser in July, which drew 25 million when no one was paying attention to the issue yet. But to put it in perspective, the snoozer he held in April to celebrate his first 100 days drew almost as many people as last night’s supposedly historic, hyper-hyped, Beyond Thunderdome Obama mega-event. He did 52 million for his State of the Union address in February; now his signature policy issue — and the cause of Ted Kennedy’s life, as we’ve been reminded eight thousand times in the past 10 days — earns him a little more than half that. Hopenchange fee-vah!
He followed his press secretary’s lead and did a little whining about Fox in his speech this morning too, albeit much more personably than Gibbs, natch. Skip ahead to about 30 seconds in. Click the image to watch.

Hillary stepping down is the beginning of the end for Obama
faraway on September 10, 2009 at 6:56 PM
Hillary would probably win in New york.I was hoping for Rudy. I’d rather she stay where she is.
sandee on September 10, 2009 at 6:57 PM
I’m not a fan of Hillary. But when it came down to the bottom line, I figured we’d be better off with a Clinton Part Deux than we would be with this unknown radical freak-o-zoid from Chicago.
I hope she does step down. It will weaken Obama and show the US that we should stand up and fight. She is not aligned with his views and this would be a great way for her to separate herself and her name from this (gawd what do you call this regime?) regime.
Key West Reader on September 10, 2009 at 6:57 PM
I’d be okay with that. Thought about walking down there to try to piss off a few liberals – easy to do. Of course watching all those people slobber over themselves is disgusting.
gophergirl on September 10, 2009 at 6:57 PM
I thought the jews were mad at her?

Ogabe is going to appoint himself as the new SoS.
Bishop on September 10, 2009 at 6:58 PM
No, it just showed that the facade is breaking. I’ve noticed how carefully she has been dressing since the (justified) commentary about her sloppy appearance at the Grand Canyon. It must kill somebody like her, whose hatred is always just under the surface, to be forced into a position where she has to think about how she dresses. And, for the record, her outfit last night made it appear that some chair is missing its very ugly slipcover.
highhopes on September 10, 2009 at 6:59 PM
LMAO. After he appoints himself King of the Universe.

Hillary is damaged goods. She let them take it away from her.

Down 39% since his last joint session speech.
And he won’t be able to do another one of these.

When is Obama’s “major speech” on 9/11?
faraway on September 10, 2009 at 7:01 PM
Have you noticed the rapid expansion of her derriere? It’s growing bigger than Obama’s budget. Must be all of them White House servants. Cooks. Or sumsin. A Queen has Needs, dontcha know?
Key West Reader on September 10, 2009 at 7:02 PM
How’s this for thinking outside the box. Hillary steps down. Joe Biden, who has always fancied himself as a diplomat becomes SecState leaving the filthy liar to appoint a radical to help him with his takeover of America. Rham Emmanuel, for example.

Romeo13 on September 10, 2009 at 7:04 PM
I might be wrong, but I think the 3rd in line would be OMG Nancy Pelosi. I don’t think he can ‘appoint’ a new VP. Can he?
Key West Reader on September 10, 2009 at 7:04 PM
They have to be confirmed by the Senate don’t they? When Agnew stepped down – Rockefeller was appointed via the Senate right?
gophergirl on September 10, 2009 at 7:05 PM

Actually I have. I don’t know if it is all the vacations, the lack of good tailoring, or if the media is simply less careful in how they photograph her.
Any pretense that the Obamas’ were a combination of the upper middle class ubanity of The Cosby family and the style of Jackie and John Kennedy has been erased by mom jeans and cargo shorts.
highhopes on September 10, 2009 at 7:08 PM
Call me crazy, but I’d pick SecState over governor of New York every time.
Black Yoshi on September 10, 2009 at 7:09 PM
See now there’s his problem. I didn’t actually watch the speech. I mean, meaningless baseball is still on and infinately more watchable than any speech by Smoove B. Anyway, Smoove shouldn’t have called it “Beyond Thunderdome” because that movie was a real stinker. A sad reflection on the first two Mad Max movies if you ask me.
Did he get Tina Turner to sing at some point during his tirade?
rihar on September 10, 2009 at 7:09 PM
Speaking of Hillary and after watching Special Report, I wonder if Hillary is going to bolt sooner rather than later. It appears as if things may head south very soon with respect to Iran. Does she really want to be the SOS when the spit hits the fan? She has the title, but she’s trumped by all the envoys and she’s traveling around Africa. Her call.
BuckeyeSam on September 10, 2009 at 7:09 PM
I honestly don’t know. I specialize in Margarita’s. Not a very inspiring occupation but I practice SIU on the side.
Key West Reader on September 10, 2009 at 7:10 PM
Oh great! Pinnochio scheduled another major speech for monday night on his handling of the financial crisis according to Shep.
I’ll bet he rocks the ratings with his tall tales of financial heroics by lowering the deficit, employing people and saving us from the Martians.
Is this Dude consulting Jon Kary? Dingy Harry? or are all the dems delusional?
dhunter on September 10, 2009 at 7:11 PM
Rules of succession do not apply in this case. The filthy liar would appoint a new VP (only requirement Constitutionally eligible for the job) who would have to be confirmed by both houses of Congress.
highhopes on September 10, 2009 at 7:11 PM

Because there are a couple of other little things which may be on peoples minds…. Like remembering 9/11…. and the 9/12 Protest.
Romeo13 on September 10, 2009 at 7:15 PM
You aren’t a career politician without marketable skills. SecState is a gig for eight years max. Governor of an imporant state is a stepping stone to bigger jobs- especially if the filthy liar in the White House has to be dumped in 2012. The woman that defended his policies for four years would be toast but the outspoken critic from Gotham would have a shot at winning in the primaries.

She sees the Epic Foreign Policy train wreck which is coming… and as she has no control over foreign policy, she does not want to be tainted by failure…
Add in the she is NOT being given the typical Sec State power or authority… its been diluted with Special Envoys and by the UN envoy….
She’d be smart to bail.

This guy is seriously under exposed, he’s a slacker, he just needs to get his own time slot on MSNBC on either side of Chrissy Tingly legs.
An every night show that’s what Pinnochio needs to drive those approval numbers. 8:00 Pm on PMSNBC would be perfect!
Maybe he could get Obiden to follow at 9:oo and tell us about that time he went to a Home Depot in Scranton and how he and Pinnochio saved the world from Litte Green Martians and mean rabid Republicans!

I hope Pinnochio gets his own show! Hell he needs more face time. Can’t trust those damn congress critters Pinnochio has to keep bringing it to the American people to put pressure on those critters.
He needs a show every night and maybe a daytime show for Michelle…. “Ways of Our Wives”
I can’t wait to see Michelles guest list!

Much like the Ford Administration, the man is often overlooked. You are right, of course, Agnew had to resign and Ford was his replacement who then tapped Nelson Rockefeller for VP when he got the Presidency.

There are what 250 million adults in the country? So about 12% watched. You have to figure of that 12%, 8% are DailyKos kool aid drinking types. 2% are conservatives who like to watch train wrecks. Which means about 2% of undecideds tuned in.
WOW!!

See what happens when youspew sour grapes you LOSE!!!!! ROTFLMAO! On a serious note this is important! Working in media advertising the left and right coast don’t control the TV viewing for rating the middle does. So this says the typical TV watching voting public isn;t buying into the “O”‘s B*(&)(_s(*)t! They’re done with the rhetoric and lies so he is finished aa a president!

Hey, I watched so’s I could blog along here on Aallahpundits very fine hotair and got to see Joe Wilson call the liar a liar immediately after the Liar (Pinnochio) called Rush, Palin and American citizens a Liar . OK for Pinnochio to call a meeting of House and Senate to call American citizens Liars but not OK for a congressman to call him one.
Pinnochio is toast he blew his credibility and won’t get it back.

Well, that is the strength of the Presidency. The great thing about today’s world with open communications (at least until they figure out how to shut it down) is that Obama’s lies can be exposed quickly. Maybe more will turn more people against him, as they realize he is trying to pull one over on him.
Regardless of what the slanted CNN poll reported.

Hillary resigning this dead end job makes good sense if she’s to have any future in politics. She’s got to be tired of playing Bam’s trained parrot…blindly repeating his really stupid arse ‘foreign policy’ views.
She’s been eclipsed by Rice at the UN, who has Obama’s (really big) ear.
Isn’t there also a WH woman who has priority with Obama’ other big ole ear? The one who has been spying on Hillary, following her about…didn’t she once call Hillary a b&#ch during the campaign?
Obama’s ears are occupied. Sec of State Hillary is useless as tits on a bull, so she may as well find something else to do.

I think the nation has reached a point where it is beneficial to conservatives to keep Obama on television as much as possible. It doesn’t matter what he says because he comes across as such a huge prick that more-and-more people dislike him every time he appears.
Deep down, liberals think he’s a prick, too. He’s their prick, though.
