It’s come to this: Olbermann lectures Joe Wilson

posted at 9:47 pm on September 10, 2009 by Allahpundit

A very special comment indeed on the eve of 9/11 from a guy who thinks Fox News is “worse than Al Qaeda,” who regards any and all criticism of Barack Obama as thinly veiled racism, and who treats the veritable certainty that ObamaCare will eventually be extended to illegal immigrants as the height of paranoia. Not a single word uttered about the president’s assurance that our trillion-dollar health-care “experiment” will supposedly be deficit-neutral. It’s all about Joe Wilson, don’t you know.

You’re looking at the leading liberal light on American television here. This is the top of the food chain.

His political views sure aren’t. But he’s on a major cable news channel and has significant pull among conservatives. Comparing his rhetoric now to a Dkos diarist’s back in 2000 is disingenuous.

Did you realize this douche introduced the Republican physician who gave the Republican response , not on his opinion show, but on MSNBC trying to play grown-up news, as “Now the Republican response, from a doctor who’s been sued for malpractice three times.”

I wish to heaven that would get as much play as “thrill up my leg”. it was despicable.

If the sportscaster knew anything about medicine, he’d know that that stat means little. Why does MSNBC put him in “straight news” environments? Why does NBC Sports ruin my Sunday Night pregame with this asswipe?

People who have advanced beyond the intelligence of a hamster didn’t call Bush a fascist or socialist in his first 2-3 years, because…. He wasn’t a fascist or socialist.

Obama… Nationalizing Car Companies, Health Care, Banks, and calling up his Union Thugs to suppress dissent. Hires communists and truthers to top advisory positions.

Why is Obama called a fascist… Cause he acts like one.

Bush didn’t fire the CEO of GM and didn’t propose taking over a huge chunk of the national economy. Tax cuts and the like aren’t all that “fascistic”, except in the minds of moonbats for whom ALL conservatives are “fascists”. And instances of that — along with “President Select” and variations on “We was robbed!” and “who paid off the Supreme Court” as well as pretty vile, pre-Palin personal attacks on Katherine Harris — are easily found from December 2000 up til the present.

That “Who, us???” bullsh1t just won’t get it. We remember.

ddrintn on September 10, 2009 at 11:40 PM

During the 2003 SOTU speech, a crazed Democratic congressman screeches out “YOU LIE” while Bush lays out his case that Hussein possesses WMD’s. The congressman quickly apologizes and is castigated by his peers. Does this help the anti-war cause, or does this guy de-legitimize his own position?

Apples and oranges. First, Bush, unlike Barry 0, was a popular president at the time with high approval rating. Second, he was dealing with an issue that was important to most Americans: a rogue dictator who supported terrorists and possessed WMD. So, yes, unlike Joe Wilson, who came out of this episode looking like the true patriot that he is, that fictitious heckler from 2003 would have been seen as just a liberal kook. BTW, Joe Wilson is raising lots and lots of money. And do you really think South Carolinians are going to vote for some fem Democrat in 2010?

Janos Hunyadi on September 10, 2009 at 11:42 PM

Olbermann is a reasonably effective speaker. The problem is that he’s stupid.

Olbermann heaps the WMD fiasco on Bush, conveniently skipping the fact(s) that WMDs are a Clinton-era item, and they date back to 1994 or so. Plenty of time to get to the truth about WMDs, no? Yet EVERYONE had little doubt of WMD existence in Iraq as late as 19 January 2001. Who was saying different; Olbermann?

Olbermann seems unable to assemble 2 or more facts to form an argument, certainly not sentences one of which follows the other.

No care for illegal aliens? Perhaps the words are in there, but no matter; there is no provision to determine if a patient is a citizen, legally-admitted alien, or not. Atlanta was precluded from requiring ID for the 2008 elections. How well does employer verification of employee SSNs and other data work today? Even today, the police are frequently not allowed to check citizenship status of people detained for questioning.

Olbermann, fool, illegals will obtain Obamacare via this backdoor, as they currently obtain many other benefits. Legislation to close this backdoor was blocked by the Democrats.

No death panels? Certainly not by name, but follow this argument (and compare to HR3200). There will be panels of bureaucrats who
1. define standards of care
2. determine eligibility based on responsiveness
3. are subject to budgetary restrictions

As anyone familiar with government bureaucracy (or any bureaucracy, for that matter), interpretation counts for much, and general, vague and imprecise wording allows wide latitude for interpretation.

Set the standards of care a certain way, then make “responsiveness” a slightly high bar to reach. After all, there is a budget. Regrettably, many will fail. Doubtless, the panelists will feel bad, but it’s not their fault.

As per the Oregon precedent, “Sorry, we can’t afford to provide the prescription”. See, this isn’t a “death panel”. There is a budget, “we’re not made of money”, “we ‘d like to help”, but there are no other options, private payments are no longer legal, etc.

Olbermann seems to be a case study for making journalists, TV show hosts and other talking heads ineligible for any public office.

Arbalest on September 10, 2009 at 11:44 PM

BTW. Obama mentioned an “ultimate goal” in his speech last night, but did not share that with the American people. I think it’d be interesting to know what his “ultimate goal” is.

The word in 2000 thru 2004 wasn’t fascist. Nobody associated Bush with fascism. Your team did, however, call him stupid, a drug addict, selected not elected, and said he should be impeached, arrested or even assassinated. This was the entire daily press coverage of the MSM, not one lousy network.

I recall it all fondly and gleefully as I thought the Clinton years were finally over for good.

If you want me to take an hour or so on Lexis to find you some clips and NYT, Boston Globe and Chicago Tribune stories to link for you I will.

Yeah, that was probably the most idiotic thing crr6 has said on this thread. Having to reinvent history is pretty damn desperate. Liberals lecturing people on civility is just galling. BigMike252 on September 11, 2009 at 12:08 AM

Almost forgot: the 4000+ dead soldiers and tens of thousands of wounded/crippled soldiers in Iraq.

Some of them, perhaps the first 100, can be attributed to Bush actually invading Iraq. How many did we lose during the actual invasion?

But the remainder, some 3800+, and virtually all the wounded and crippled, can be blamed on Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, and every other Senator (including Guess Who) and Congressman who obstructed the Iraq effort, dragged their heels, gave the opposition (Al Q in Irag, Mookie and his Madhi Army, etc,) cause to believe that if they attacked us, we’d run away.

It looks like someone is repeating these actions; we now (explicitly post-Bush) have ROEs in Afghanistan that, yesterday, I think, got 4 Marines killed because someone refused to authorize artillery fire.

These deaths were caused by Obama and his minions, no one else.

Olbermann really is an idiot. Even Dylan Avery, college Radio-Television-Film drop-out, isn’t this idiotic.

WOW! 231 mentions about WMD’s and the dems didn’t call him a liar!

Hum, could that be due to the fact that on Oct. 31 1998 President Clinton signed into law the “Iraq liberation Act” The act was passed by Congress, unanimous in the Senate and 360-38 in the house.

The Act specifically citing Saddam’s WMD’s and his connection to terrorist?

Hint, for Uberidiot that’s about 460 members of congress, the ones that didn’t call Bush a liar when he mentioned WMD’s.

Anyone think the congress didn’t call Bush a liar when made some sort of link tween AQ and Saddam cuz, as reported by The Guardian February 6, 1999

That Saddam was link to Bin Laden based on US attorney general, Janet Reno and Richard Clark (Yes that Richard Clark) Senate testimony that Saddam and Bin Laden
Had linked up!

“News of the negotiations emerged in a week when the US attorney general, Janet Reno, warned the Senate that a terrorist attack involving weapons of mass destruction was a growing concern. “There’s a threat, and it’s real,” Ms Reno said, adding that such weapons “are being considered for use.”

In Uberidiots world no one EVER heard of AQ, Bin Laden or WMD’s before Bush took office.

crr6 on September 11, 2009 at 12:41 AM

“Mainstream commentators” frequently “reported” on the “news stories” associating Bush with fascism. They exaggerated and bent over backward to have the President directly associated with fascism on nationwide news network’s Prime Time coverage.

They out-Becked Beck. CNN specialized in doing this.

You have an invalid illogical argument which is essentially a nonsequitur. But, you usually have less than that…….

Janos Hunyadi on September 11, 2009 at 12:53 AM

You’re grasping at straws. You tried to find examples, and failed. Another lost argument for you. Don’t worry, this time I won’t make you apologize.

crr6 on September 11, 2009 at 12:57 AM

CCR whats so special about the early years? You hate to admit the fact that the MSM is in the demo/leftist pocket I can’t remember any serious MSM every asking BO any tough questions and he surely was not vetted compared to others on the GOP side. The only ones who get fair treatment is people like McCain who sometimes side with the Demos. The only reason they do this is to cause splits on the GOP side. I can’t remember any major media praising Bush starting from my local paper on up to the NYT. Truely it seems like we are in the last days of freedom of expression for those who disagree with a lefty.

garydt on September 11, 2009 at 12:57 AM

I’m actually being generous. You guys started the fascist crap nearly from Day 1. I’m just asking you to find something from a mainstream commentator in Bush’s first 3 years. You can’t.

crr6 on September 11, 2009 at 12:41 AM

What’s a “mainstream commentator”? A NYT columnist? The Nation? NPR? Mike Malloy? What you’re asking for is a lib equivalent of Beck from 2000-2003. Olbermann wasn’t active as a political commentator during those years.

crr6 on September 11, 2009 at 12:56 AM

That’s not it. Your side is more saturated with crazies who can’t seem to handle victory or the existence of any opposition whatsoever. It’s all not been as sweet as you dreamed.

Your crazies are crazier than the crazies on my side.

crr6 on September 11, 2009 at 12:56 AM

You don’t have a ‘side’ troll. You’re an odd creepy little troll who comes here to toss out insults to most of the people here and lie repeatedly.

On occasion, you seem strangely interested in childhood sexual behavior and revert to ‘circle jerk’ and other childhood-related sexual references. Why is that imagery in your head so often?

I’m not interesting in debating you; you bring nothing to the table except the insights of an emotionally troubled 10-year-old. You’re about half as smart as you think you are, and keep stumbling over your own juvenile stubborn idiocy.

Get some help: There are lotsa new medications out there…

Janos Hunyadi on September 11, 2009 at 1:02 AM

Olbermann isn’t “the top of the food chain.” He’s the sphincter of the digestive system.

willy v on September 11, 2009 at 1:03 AM

Don’t worry, this time I won’t make you apologize.

crr6 on September 11, 2009 at 12:57 AM

Okay, you asked for this:

You are the one who, on an earlier thread, asked me specific questions about my childhood sexual experiences. This is what pedophiles do; therefore, you are either a pedophile or you decided to adopt the M.O. of one.

No one “forced” me to apologize, or do anything. Your saying so is another lie.

After reading several of your comments since last Summer, I believe that you either ARE or have decided to act like a pedophile for the purpose of attacking me and others. So, for the record:

You, crr6, ARE or show clear signs of being a pedophile.

You, crr6, used this blog to ask me about my childhood sexual experiences, and stated that my political views stemmed from childhood sexual trauma–which clearly interest and apparently arouse you.

You, crr6, have asked similar inappropriate questions of others, which shows a pattern of deviant sexual behavior.

So, make me apologize……..

crr6 on September 11, 2009 at 12:56 AM

Your reasoning reminds me of a joke…

Q: How many surrealists does it take to change a light bulb?

A: Fish.

I was going to make a point about “your crazies” actually rioting and causing massive property damage at protests, but I figured the point would be over your head…

Liberals are getting more pathetic day by day.

Dr B on September 11, 2009 at 1:59 AM

You’re looking at the leading liberal light on American television here. This is the top of the food chain

I don’t know about that, he’s the left’s version of Michael Savage, and I don’t consider him the leading light of conservatism, whether radio or television.

Anyway, why do you insist on posting this guys over the top propaganda? He’s a caricature, a Bill O’Reilly wannabe, a comic book hero for the urban hip. He has no credibility, no argument, no brains, and yet you continue to post on him as if he has something legitimate to say, or at least comment worthy.

Enough, we know he’s a fool, that’s been proven over and over, no need to constantly remind us! He’s not the problem, Obama and the Democrats are the problem. He’s small potatoes compared to them. Stay focused, Allah, or you’re going to lose a lot of us.

All I heard was Olby whining about Bush. Very original. Oh yeah, using a guys birth name even though he doesn’t go by it. That seems to be a favorite of the deranged Left.

Speedwagon82 on September 11, 2009 at 3:09 AM

If I were at Obama’s Speech I would have LAUGHED OUT LOUD REAL HARD when he said, “That this plan will not add ONE DIME to our DEFICIT!” The Republicans should have fallen on the floor screaming and pointing fingers.

900 BILLION DOLLARS? Well Olbermann would defend that by saying, “Well Mr. Obama TOLD THE TRUTH 900 BILLION IS NOT ONE DIME towards our Deficits it’s 900 BILLION more proof that Republicans are retarded, wrong and I OLBY am always right! Good Night and Good F*&k!”

AsianGirlInTights on September 11, 2009 at 4:07 AM

He must have a huge staff of writers or something. That was an 11:00 minute soliloquy–with like 4 words per second.

I don’t get msnbc, but assuming that his program’s an hour long. I wonder if he does that special comment segment every night.

I also wonder if that’s done in one take.

The only reason why I ask is that it seems like a lot of work to only be #5 in the ratings. Seriously, this guy must kick himself when he sees himself losing miserably to the insufferable glenn beck.
