ACORN fires two employees involved in prostitution sting, all institutional problems now solved
posted at 8:38 pm on September 10, 2009 by Allahpundit
Andy Levy and I have spent the past few hours toasting the fact that this otherwise fine, upstanding organization has now been purged of its few bad actors. Will you join us, my friends? Surely ACORN’s return to civic glory deserves some celebration. They’re getting a bad rap anyway: Imagine how many thousands and thousands of ACORN employees Big Government must have had to approach to find two willing to conspire in a prostitution scheme. Damn Andrew Breitbart and his unholy doggedness.
Here’s video of Beck from today’s all-ACORN episode in full freakout mode. Semi-related exit question: I understand why he’s irate about the “rape and murder” smear site, and justifiably so, but isn’t suing highly counterproductive? If this becomes a First Amendment test case, the smear’s going to be covered far and wide…

Blowback

Yeah, this isn’t the ACORN I thought I knew.

Whew, glad that’s solved. It’s a whole new community organization now.

I’m sure it was an aberration.
It will never happen again.
This is Obama’s pet cause, isn’t it? Surely not corruption.

Community? Organized!
Here’s what I want to know: those “ladies” didn’t just fall into that organization, only then to find themselves on the enabling side of international human trafficking, sexual exploitation of children, tax evasion, and manipulation of financial services. I’m speaking to the “organizing” aspect of this horrid community.
Weight of Glory on September 10, 2009 at 8:47 PM
“Counterproductive”? What the hell does that mean? This is about one’s reputation, so screw counterproductivity!
There is a difference between First Amendment rights and libel. Sheesh. I sometimes think Allahpundit pretends to be obtuse. At least I hope so.

Judge Napolitano said on this show that they each broke about eight federal laws that would fetch at least five years per offense.
I cannot imagine their loyalty is stronger than facing a possible 40 year sentence in a federal pen.
If it even goes that far (yeah, right).
tru2tx on September 10, 2009 at 8:53 PM
Yeah, well it is precisely the ACORN I know. (I know you were being sarcastic).
I relocated to New Orleans about a year after Katrina which was about five months after there was some semblence of “normal” in the city. I worked in the Upper 9th Ward and lived in the city. I saw what ACORN does first hand. They are evil people and it doesn’t surprise me in the least that they don’t care about human traffiking. I’m glad Beck and others are finally aware of something that I knew in 2006.

I’m so relieved that ACORN has now cleaned itself up by firing these two bad actors. I’m sure they were the only ones engaged in any wrongdoing. All the voter registration fraud at the multiple other ACORN branches across the nation was probably just some sort of innocent administrative mix-up.
I can sleep easier now knowing that the eight billion tax dollars ACORN’s getting from the stimulus bill will all go to good use.
Seriously, who do these people think they’re kidding???

He should sue their a$$ off, just like Palin threatened to do You have to “nip it in the bud” as one of my favorite actors used to say…No more turning the other cheek. If someone throws a stone at you, are you going to stand there and let them hit you? Nip it, I say!

What blows my mind clear into next Tuesday is, with all the shady dealings this outfit has been engaged in, with all the illegal phoney registering of voters, why in the heck are they still in operation?
What exactly is Eric Holder waiting for? There is more than enough evidence out there to show this outfit is operating outside of the law, and this latest incident is clear proof of that!
Why is ACORN still in operation? What the hell is going on here?

The way to bring down a criminal organization is to squeeze the underlings under threat of prosecution. When these women see what awaits them we shall see how much they believe in the cause.

Sorry, allow me to elaborate. This video expose’ was just the tip of the iceberg. But it is enough to raise alarms regarding the precedent’s desire to move the Census from a non-partisan group into a position which sits (or sat) under his umbrella. This video destroys any and all credibility into the precedent’s 2010 census. It also opens many doors and minds to wonder:
Upon who’s teet did Obama cut his teeth? ACORN? Yes?
Well, there ya go. Thanks to a 20 year old bold woman.
Yes we can. And, No “he” won’t.

Meh – this is going to be like Abu Ghraib all over again. One side’s going to see an endemic problem while the other’s going to insist it’s just a couple of bad apples. There’s no way to “sting” enough people to prove this; it’s damning, but not as damning as a paper trail would be. The only lesson they’re going to learn is “be suspicious,” not “be moral.”
calbear on September 10, 2009 at 9:07 PM
What would make this exceptionally great is if these two fired workers turn against ACORN and spill the beans on the entire organization. Surely, some conservative with deep pockets can entice them to turn whistleblowers?

I didn’t know much of who Glenn beck was. I mean, I knew he was emotional, animated, and even comical. I agreed with a lot of what he I heard him say, but still, I never really considered the man.
But over the last two weeks my respect for him has exploded. I truly believe he is grieving for his country, and I thank God that he has both the spirit and the position to fight effectively for it.
Glenn, you are doing a FANTASTIC job. Please, sir, continue to do what you do. You and your family have my prayers.
God bless you.

Slander and libel suits are long-established limits on free speech. All Beck has to do is prove that they blatantly knew it wasn’t him and ran with it anyway. As far as the smear going far and wide, so what? Those who hate him will hate him more and those who like him will ignore it. Those in the middle discover it was a lie and move on.
