White House to Palin: Your ideas are “scary and risky”; Palin to White House: Quit making things up
posted at 7:22 pm on September 9, 2009 by Allahpundit
I love the smell of easy traffic in the morning. Team Barry was grumpy over her Journal op-ed last night so they tossed this grenade at her in their daily talking points:
On Gov. Palin’s Attacks
Every non partisan organization that has looked at her claims say they are false. And the ideas in her op-ed are both scary and risky. Eliminating Medicare and giving our seniors vouchers instead is a bad idea that we shouldn’t adopt.
To which Palin, within the last hour, posted this reply/prebuttal of tonight’s speech:
I’m pleased that the White House is finally responding to Republican health care ideas instead of pretending they don’t exist.[1] But in doing so President Obama should follow his own sound advice and avoid making “wild misrepresentations”.[2] Medicare vouchers would give everyone on Medicare the chance to decide for themselves which health plan to use, rather than leave that decision to government bureaucrats. Such proposals are the kind of health care reform that Republicans stand for: market-oriented, patient-centered, and result-driven.
The White House talking points leave the rest of my arguments unanswered. They don’t respond to the idea that all individuals should get the same tax benefits received by those who get coverage through their employers; that we must reform our tort laws; and that we should allow Americans to buy insurance across state lines. The White House also fails to respond to the Nyce/Schieber study indicating that wages will fall if the government expands coverage without reducing health care inflation rates.
One last thing: after President Obama’s speech tonight, listen for which pundits use the words “false”, “scary”, and “risky” in describing the proposals I put forward. That’s how you’ll be able to tell who the White House counted as “allies” worthy of receiving its talking points.
First out of the gate with the scary/risky rhetoric, to no one’s surprise: The DNC. Ace is right that the White House probably thinks making her the face of the opposition will discredit it, a la their “Limbaugh’s the head of the Republican Party” jazz six months ago. And he’s also right that it won’t work in this case because the “death panels” rhetoric tapped into public fears about rationing. Every time they mention her, they dredge that back up and it hurts them; they’re just too deeply in thrall to Palinphobia to see it. If I were a GOP bigwig, I would have finagled her an invite to the speech and seated her in the gallery as a visual reminder — preferably with this article in hand. At the very least, having her star power in the same room with him would create a media circus and steal part of his spotlight, which is the entire reason he’s holding this dronefest. And when he inevitably whines in his speech about Republican fearmongering while looking her way, she’ll be right there to hammer him with the tu quoque for the media’s benefit. Missed opportunity, Michael Steele.

Romney will say whatever he thinks voters want to hear. Prior to the Michigan primary he was all for help for the Detroit Three. Now, he’s against it. The man has no principles (but he does have great hair).

As I wrote on the live thread: Palin needs to grab this issue by the yarbles and do a You Tube broadcast. She needs to completely field dress this moose, stuff him, and put him on her trophy wall.
Kids, it’s Eastern Front time. Time to go to war. Unfortunately, in the entire GOP, it looks as if we only have one person with the guts to go right at Teh Won.

Obviously you’ve never read Sun Tzu or studied Musashi. The alsinsky methods will only work if your target acts the way you expect them to. When your target sidesteps then the tactics no longer work.
Palin gained several things by resigning.
(1) the unfounded serial ethics charges were wearing her down. Something like the ‘death of a thousand cuts’. There was no real way within the system to combat that.
(2) The attacks against her family were exceptinally vicious when the democraps went after her 14 year old and newborn. as a governor she could not respond in full to those attacks. They were right out of the alinsky playbook. However, by resigning, she can now threaten idiots who attack her with false ethics or by attacking her children with a major lawsuit.
(3) She is now free to do some massive fundraising that being governor would have prevented.
She is going against a massive political thug machine. If she tries to fight a war of attrition she will lose. However, by sidestepping, she now can leverage herself.

The big fight is to bring down Obama and Obamacare, yet the trolls want to disparage Palin, and talk up their own preferred picks.
Is this the time or place for that? While Rome is burning these trolls are fiddling, such a useless bunch.
And where are your guys, fellas? How are they contributing, and helping their chances in 2012 by bringing down Obama?

I love how she says to watch who uses the words in the talking points …I can imagine that in the CBS NBC ABC CNN and MSNBC newsrooms they are now saying “so what do we do now… say it or not? (with panicked looks on their faces) I love it… I love Sarah…

This is classic!! Once again the Precedent is relagated to snide and thinly veiled personal attacks against private citizens. Also, for those saying that Palin should have been in the audience or given the GOP rebuttal? No way, not yet… she is too effective right now as a citizen on facebook, or an occasional op ed. So effective that the Precedent feels the need to personally refute her in a nationally televised speech. Once again, this is just classic.

What’s the most hilarious regarding the Palin haters is that they seem to be SO consumed with themselves and their collective angst that they fail to ever realize if all they want is to get rid of Sarah – all they have to do is ignore her and never mention her name again.
This FACT is why I’m not afraid to type it nor hit ‘post’ – they’ve proven for decades they couldn’t make the truth work if it bit them on the butt.
Every single syllable typed or uttered in ‘Palin hate mode’ only serves to empower her MORE (and we LOVE watching it!!!)

A pleasant thought, but only if She would give the Republican response. Otherwise it’s just drama without substance and that benefits the One with an undeserved an inadequately countered increase in audience size.

I think you might be right. Some have pointed out previously that, if she was responsible enough for getting the house back in 2010, it might be possible to make her speaker.
bullseye on September 9, 2009 at 9:23 PM
[Dag. Lost a longer post in the ether. Oh well. Briefly...]
I didn’t mention a run for president by Sarah, just the starting of the party. It would be a ton of work. It would have to run as many candidates as possible for all possible seats (State houses, borough councils) wherever they thought they could win and even if not. I think she’s up to it.
This tattered political culture is ripe for it. I bet she senses that. She’s smarter than Tom Brokaw, Chris Matthews and about ten Katie Courics all combined. (Ew.)
Anyway if she did (which she won’t) she’d outpoll those Perot let’s-elect-Bill-Clinton runs. Was there nearly this much enthusiasm for Perot then as there is for Palin right now? He was the Ron Paul of his time.
Get your new party 20 percent all over the country and you have self-legitimized.
The current guy? (I can’t bring myself even to say that name.) Supreme narcissist or not, he is in the process of so utterly failing that he may not even run. President Three Card Monte thought being president would be all speechifying and doing doobies out back the White House. Does he look like he’s having fun? Who would have predicted in ’65 that LBJ would not run in ’68? If Hillary hadn’t made a serious strategic error and taken Secretary of State I’d say she’d be a stalking horse (Snort!). But…
And split the conservative vote? Heck, games can be played. If it looks like Bill Ayers’ adopted son is going to win, throw your electors over to the Rs. I don’t think you can let that kind of thing scare you off. Play the game like it’s meant to be played.
Parties appear, evolve and evaporate. The way this sad MSM is. A third party could appear and they might not even notice.
Dag this turned out longer than the other’n.

LOL — sounds like my brother, also a registered Independent. He was aghast last fall when I told him I didn’t vote for Obama. But, but . . . he’s THE ONE! He’s got a raging case of buyer’s remorse now; he practically turns purple when talking about anything to do with Barry now. Then when I was visiting this summer, he was aghast again that I announced I was a Palin fan. But, but . . . she’s SO STUPID! He’s rethinking that one too, having grudgingly admitted she’s pretty damned on the money with respect to ObamaCare and cap and tax.
Here’s the thing about Independent voters: They are — general speaking anyway — notoriously uninformed in my experience. Of course this is all anecdotal, but I do know quite a few Independents, principally my brother and my best friend. They’re both intelligent and thoughtful people, but they are also not particularly passionate about politics. They rely on soundbites and Yahoo! News to stay abreast of what’s going on in the world. They’re really more interested in football and “American Idol” and what TMZ has to say today. People like this are ripe for the picking by either side. They have no really strong convictions so they are vulnerable to whichever candidate has the best marketing campaign. Obama was presented as new and cool and hip, as the most brilliant man EVAH, promising all kinds of shiny happy things like hopeandchange, and unicorns and rainbows. People like my brother eat this stuff up (in fairness, my best friend did vote for McCain, but only because she was a disaffected PUMA who resents the fact that Oprah Winfrey picked our president). If the GOP could package and market a candidate the way Axelrod did, they would win handily, even without the media on its side. Of all of the possibilities on our side right now, Sarah is really the only one who matches or surpasses Obama in terms of charisma.
I say we just dispense with the formalities of a primary and go straight to the general election. Obama has obviously already decided who his opponent is going to be, and she appears more than up to the challenge.

Why are Palin nuts so rude? Sure sign of insecurity.
I didnt know that Romney was in hiding. Seems to me that Palin is in hiding. She is hiding behind facebook quotes and editorials in newspapers, but she never ventures out to make the point in person. Which BEGS the intelligent person to ask the question…does she really write these things? I mean, based on her “I quit” speech, she isnt very lucid. I am guessing some hack at Conservatives4Palin is writing those things. Prove me wrong, Sarah. Go toe to toe with really tough media types like, uh, Katie Couric or something. Hee hee hee hee!!!

Excellent thoughts.. If she just pops up once in a while, they can hit back. However, if she stays in their face, the effectiveness of the lefties attacks is diminished.
The other hope is that sooner or later, obama will lose his cool and do or say something stupid.
Back in the 1600′s in Japan, there was a duel between the two greatest swordsmen, Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojirō . Kojiro was know for a fine, extra long sword he used. On the day of their duel, Musashi showed up 2 hours late. Instead of any kind of fancy sword or other weapon, he showed up with an oar he had whittled down a bit. Kojiro was furious. Musashi said “You have already lost the duel”. A few minutes later, Kojiro was dead.
So, If Sarah keeps the pressure up, Ozero might just lose his cool and make a serious mistake. The drooling public has overlooked the ‘lipstick on a pig’ and the attacks on Palins family. However, Ozero could easily make a huge screw up when his is off teleprompter
