White House to Palin: Your ideas are “scary and risky”; Palin to White House: Quit making things up

posted at 7:22 pm on September 9, 2009 by Allahpundit

I love the smell of easy traffic in the morning. Team Barry was grumpy over her Journal op-ed last night so they tossed this grenade at her in their daily talking points:

On Gov. Palin’s Attacks

Every non partisan organization that has looked at her claims say they are false. And the ideas in her op-ed are both scary and risky. Eliminating Medicare and giving our seniors vouchers instead is a bad idea that we shouldn’t adopt.

To which Palin, within the last hour, posted this reply/prebuttal of tonight’s speech:

I’m pleased that the White House is finally responding to Republican health care ideas instead of pretending they don’t exist.[1] But in doing so President Obama should follow his own sound advice and avoid making “wild misrepresentations”.[2] Medicare vouchers would give everyone on Medicare the chance to decide for themselves which health plan to use, rather than leave that decision to government bureaucrats. Such proposals are the kind of health care reform that Republicans stand for: market-oriented, patient-centered, and result-driven.

The White House talking points leave the rest of my arguments unanswered. They don’t respond to the idea that all individuals should get the same tax benefits received by those who get coverage through their employers; that we must reform our tort laws; and that we should allow Americans to buy insurance across state lines. The White House also fails to respond to the Nyce/Schieber study indicating that wages will fall if the government expands coverage without reducing health care inflation rates.

One last thing: after President Obama’s speech tonight, listen for which pundits use the words “false”, “scary”, and “risky” in describing the proposals I put forward. That’s how you’ll be able to tell who the White House counted as “allies” worthy of receiving its talking points.

First out of the gate with the scary/risky rhetoric, to no one’s surprise: The DNC. Ace is right that the White House probably thinks making her the face of the opposition will discredit it, a la their “Limbaugh’s the head of the Republican Party” jazz six months ago. And he’s also right that it won’t work in this case because the “death panels” rhetoric tapped into public fears about rationing. Every time they mention her, they dredge that back up and it hurts them; they’re just too deeply in thrall to Palinphobia to see it. If I were a GOP bigwig, I would have finagled her an invite to the speech and seated her in the gallery as a visual reminder — preferably with this article in hand. At the very least, having her star power in the same room with him would create a media circus and steal part of his spotlight, which is the entire reason he’s holding this dronefest. And when he inevitably whines in his speech about Republican fearmongering while looking her way, she’ll be right there to hammer him with the tu quoque for the media’s benefit. Missed opportunity, Michael Steele.

Read the discourse on livy, then read the prince. I suspect your entire view of the man will change.

He was a true believer in “civic virtue” and the concept of the “republic” being the strongest and best form of government, but was trapped as the man “who could see but could not change”.

I read a version once that, instead of “the end justifies the means”, used “when a prince uses evil/cruel acts they must be judged by the outcome, and if the outcome is good they may/should be excused”.

Which carries an entirely different viewpoint than the popular thought.

Stalin, Marx, Hitler, and Robespierre all bought in to the same justification for evil.

Finally, President Obama delivered an offhand applause line tonight about the cost of the War on Terror. As we approach the anniversary of the September 11th attacks and honor those who died that day and those who have died since in the War on Terror, in order to secure our freedoms, we need to remember their sacrifices and not demonize them as having had too high a price tag.

Remember, Mr. President, elected officials work for the people. Forcing a conclusion in order to claim a “victory” is not healthy for our country. We hear you say government isn’t always the answer; now hear us — that’s what we’ve been saying all along.

LOL!

You haven’t figured out by now that the Corruptocrats MSM presstitutes are no longer the gatekeepers of information and that the only ones listening to them are fools like you.

It apparently has escaped your notice that your 0bamamessiah and your Corruptocrat heroes are so frightned of Sarah’s Facebook posts that your 0bamamessiah took a cheap shot at her during his speech. Now why would he do that if he and the Corruptocrats were not scared sh#tless of her and of the sleeping giant that is the American people.

Also, the Pavlovian reaction of the 0bamaworshiping 0rcs and Trolls such as yourself at the mere mention of Sarah Palin’s name shows just how frightened you are of her and the sleeping giant that is the American people, too.

The 0bamamessiah, the Corruptocrats, their MSM presstitutes and 0bamaworshiping 0rcs and Trolls should be frightened. The sleeping giant is awake and it is pissed. heaven help you because no one else will.

I’m a staunch pro-life conservative but have not been much of a Palin fan. Now I’m warming up, though. Either she’s an idiot (which I don’t believe) with awesome writers ghosting for her, or else she’s knee-capping the entire White House staff day after day after day. And she’s a private citizen now! Why are they so afraid of her? Makes me wonder . . . .

jdp629 on September 9, 2009 at 7:41 PM

Go back and study early ‘Cuda history and you’ll get it.

Sarah, after being term limited out as Mayor of Wasilla, ran for Lt Governor, and lost. So Governor Murkowski, who saw a star, appointed her Chairman of the AOGG, the oil and natural gas regulatory body. A very powerful, and high paying job.

Well, once on the job, she realized that Murkowski’s boys over there were as corrupt as anything to come out of Obama’s Chicago. Really bad.

This group included all of the top Republicans in the state, including the party chair, and a former attorney general. Pretty much the entire Alaska Republican party big wigs.

When she tried to get rid of the bunch, Murkowski wouldn’t let her, so she “quit” her job. All of the “experts” declared her dead then, as well. Political suicide they called it.

Well, Sarah spent the next year or so taking down the entire Republican party! Folks are still in jail over this deal. And of course, she took down the sitting Republican Governor in a landslide, and then beat a popular democrat former Governor for the Office.

This, of course explains why the Republicans both fear, and hate her. They know she doesn’t care all that much about party when someone is screwing up.

Basically, that deal was a trial run for what she is doing now. The blueprint.

This is why I laugh uncontrollably at people who holler “quitter” or don’t understand why she thought “quitting” was the right idea.

It worked like a charm before, and Obama is an easier mark! Those were tough old Alaska roughnecks she took down. Obama, the ballerina, and the rest of those idiots won’t even make a satisfying meal for the ‘Cuda!

Obama belongs to the AAA – Angry Arrogant Alinskyites.

He has finally dropped his faux messiah pretensions.

His halo has been discarded as too rusty, and his feet have fungus from walking on all that water. He offers blue pills instead of raising folks from near death, and he is everywhere with his perpetual sermons from the Mount Obama Hospital,(which is really a large emergency room attached to a the world’s largest mortuary)

Did anyone notice that his worshipping crowds are thinning out – most of his previous disciples are drifting over to those outdoor tea parties? Maybe they’re tired of the fishbones and empty stale bread crusts he’s been passing out.

You keep saying that even though we are pretty sure Obama did not write his own books and has – as far as anyone can tell – never written anything himself other than his name over and over again on pieces of paper. He’s got “God Emperor Obama” and “I won” down pat. For a FACT he never wrote a bill which was technically his job. This is the bart Simpson defence of the terminally guilty.

I didn’t do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can’t pin anything on me. Palin did it.

What.a.tool this man is. And you? You had to look “bureaucrat” up didn’t you? I bet you did. That’s ok. It’s transmogrified from a French word. Americans have a natural aversion that’s hard to overcome there. Much like our aversio to socialists. Same diff.

Four entries on healthcare in the last 2 days:

1)e-mail to the NY Committee on Aging chaired by State Senator Diaz

2)Obama and the Bureaucratixation of Health Care in the WSJ

3)Response to White House Talking Points

4)Response to President’s Health Care Speech

In the first two pieces she signalled her return to the fray at a most opportune time (before the President’s speech and her challenge to Obama’s speech; after hearing from Politico that she would be singled out and after learning of Obama’s talking points she again began to zero in on her criticism; then after the speech Sarah went in for the kill and puts a bow on it by criticizing Obama from not paying more attention to 9/11.

You must be confused with “Dreams of my Daddy” or whatever jugears Ozero claimed to have written. You know the book full of nautical references that someone like Billy Ayers, a former merchant semen would have written (typo is intentional).

You remind me of the morons who kept repeating the “Bush is stoooopid” mantra. The claims were baseless. I worked in Naval Aviation and learned that there were a lot of stupid people and a lot of pilots. You usually didn’t see a stupid pilot except as a charred corpse. Bush flew a high performance, highly unstable, very unforgiving aircraft in all weather. On top of that, it would occasionally carry a 1k nuke with a 6 second fuse.. Yep, he was stoooopid.

Same deal with Sarah Palin. The lamestream media takes the fgullible non thinkers in our society and feeds them Tina Fey. Their limited minds can’t see the difference.

Ojugears is scared to death that he might have to debate Sarah Palin in the runup to 2012. No Teletubbie to help him. Jugears could sit in the corner crying like a baby during the debate and the tingly legged media will declare him the winner. However, enough people watching would be able to see the truth.

So, the latest troll-logic appears to be that Sarah couldn’t have written the facebook postings and the op-ed pieces that have been giving Obama fits. To me its acknowledgement that she OWNS the issue now, having destroyed the President’s credibility, humiliated him completely, and rendered his threats against opponents impotent.

In fact, his opponents appear emboldend now to fight back vigorously, sensing his utter failure. Republicans have been all over the news programs today supporting Palin’s “death panel” analysis, which was something they seemed reluctant to do a short time ago.

Like the President, trolls have been reduced to childish taunts and endless repetition of the same old nonsense. It’s amusing to see them helplessly flapping their gums while Sarah delivers the coup de gras!

Oh for goodness sakes. Palin has been writing op-eds and having them published in newspapers going back to the early 90′s. She has even had them published in the NY Times and Wall Street Journal well before she was named by McCain as his running mate. The older op-eds are written just like the newer ones are. All one needs to do is go read them.
