Video: GOP congressman yells “liar” at Obama; Update: Wilson apologizes
posted at 9:27 pm on September 9, 2009 by Allahpundit
The culprit was South Carolina rep Joe Wilson, who felt moved to act when The One told what was, in fact, a lie. Although certainly not his biggest of the night: Where this jackass gets off lecturing Americans on civility after his cretinous cronies spent a month demagoging the hell out of every protester in sight is beyond me. You’re Mr. Clean, aren’t you, champ? And bottom-feeders like Harry Reid are your hatchet men. Nice work if you can get it.
I’m told that his magic number of “47 million” uninsured Americans magically dropped to 30 million uninsured in this speech, presumably to omit the illegal immigrants who were inflating the tally. Here’s a photo of Wilson at work. Click the image to watch.
Update: When do Obama and Reid apologize for their month of jackassery?
“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

A SPINE!? He apologized so quick it made heads spin.
I’m amazed you folks are making this guy out to be a hero.
You are a new breed of coward to yell something out in public then apologize for it later when the cameras are off.

You know, I for one am GLAD we’re finally growing some balls here. The town halls, the tea parties, a few Republican leaders daring not to bow at the feet of the One. For too long we have kept to our rules, rules of decency and integrity and honor. That has gotten us no where.
I am very much for good form. Being a former fencer I was a stickler for the rightness of the bout. However, the other side not only doesn’t play by the rules, they take advantage of us for doing so. The appointed referees are on their side completely, so there’s no way the fight will be fair.
What we have to do is fight the way they do. These issues are just too important. Fight, for heaven’s sake. Use their rules, get inside their loop, emulate Sun Tzu. I’d rather have a little less honor and a victory for America (and all she stands for) than have my honor intact as I wait in a line for some death panel to tell me my father is no longer worth keeping around.
Good for Joe! Mrs. Palin, keep up the smackdowns. All you Rino’s and apologists, you make me sick. I hope what comes around truly goes around.

Wilson should have said Bozo was disrespectful of the chamber with his lies and refused to apologize. He’s spineless and the GOP admonishing him are all idiots and A-Holes.
Anyway yelling and heckling in the chamber is just fine. Its no religious temple, for cryin out loud.

It is to people like me. It is fine in debate, but even during debate time in the chamber it is not acceptable to yell that the speaker is a liar.
Not the right venue, call him a liar to the press afterwords, dont do it in the speech, it just make
Squid Shark on September 10, 2009 at 10:37 AM
Finally someone with the courage to stand up to the antichrist. Barrack Osama is a racist liar. The death panels are in there. Rahm’s brother the eugenicist did publish his beliefs in JAMA. The illegals are covered. No matter. He will shortly make them legal anyway.
Jerricho68 on September 10, 2009 at 10:38 AM
The guy who threw a shoe at President Bush was not a U.S. Citizen, nor was he a lawmaker.
And even that was not acceptable.

But,, did Obama lie?
Joe Wilson could be the next Joe McCarthy.
Joe gets censored for claiming there were commies in the State Dept. But the question still needed to be answered, “Where their communists in the State Dept.?”
“Did Obama lie?”
Nothing else matters but the answer to that question.
Sure,, he was angry, he was full of himself, he was arrogant, he accused others of lying, he threatened, he stomped and huffed and puffed,,,
But,,did Obama lie?

Maybe you should spend more time doing research and less time trying to impress everybody with Jon Stewart impressions.
It has been stated over and over with no coherent rebuttal from liberals on what difference does it make to set down guidelines without any means of verification and enforcement.
We have many immigration laws but little to no enforcement.
How has that worked out genius.
We now have millions and millions of illegals in this country that are looking for amnesty.
Same applies with this bill.
The democrats have provided a toothless provision with no intent to enforce.
So the provision you just keep repeating over and over means nothing.
Decider needs to show us where this is enforced in this health legislation.
Decider needs to explain how HR3200(supported by Obama) also allows illegals to be covered.
It looks like AP and Factcheck may need to do a little more research:

The House Bill Does Cover Illegals
BUT……..
Wonder if this will be mentioned very much tomorrow.
Wilson needs to stick to his guns and hit back.
This is no time for appeasement.
As pointed out by Goodale, the democrats struck out a provision for enforcement.
liberals need to show where the enforcement is concerning illegal aliens and square the circle of Obama’s support for HR3200 that the Congressional Research Office states allows illegals coverage in this bill.

In my opinion, if Obama is really that smooth and/or smart (as in street smart) like they say, he could have handled the ‘situation’ much better.
After all his ‘there are some that said…’ lying about the other side as liers, Obama could have a couple dry laughs and something like “Truth is in the eyes of the beholder” or something. And after the congressman’s issued apology next day, it will be blown over.
Instead, he stood there, completely stunned for a few seconds. He could not believe anybody actually calling him out right to his face (well, almost).
And now Pelosi/Hoyer promise disciplinary actions, everybody talks about Obama being called a lierf, not about his own lying.

If you got here: http://legalinsurrection.blogspot.com/2009/09/house-bill-does-cover-illegals.html, you will see what I have been saying every time something about illegals being covered comes up. It is taken from the CRS Report.
Illegal aliens are prohibited from getting the affordability credits under Section 246. However, nothing prevents them from being covered under the public option–in fact, they are mandated to be covered.

bluegrass on September 10, 2009 at 12:03 PM
Joe Wilson was right the first time.
He was merely pointing out that the “Emporer has no clothes.”
If the Democrats want to refute this, they should formally amend HR3200 to conform to the unsubstantiated claims and gross misrepresentations they are making about this bill. Until we see such a revision formally passed and then accurately and completely published, Obama’s statements ARE lies designed to distract the citizens from the truth.
Among the major Democrat lies:
1. You can keep your present insurance.
2. Costs will go down.
3. Illegal aliens are not covered.
4. There are no death panels.
5. The bill will not add to the deficit.
The failure of Democrats to even consider amendments which would correct the bill and thus explicitly refute the “lies” is evidence that what the Democrats call “lies” are actually the naked, unvarnished TRUTH about HR3200.

you must be new here to trot this BS out again. First, read your own post d@mmit! That is a specific section about something called “affordability credits”, in essence something similar to the earned income credit where the gov’t pays you if you’re too poor to afford the healthcare, then gives you the healthcare.
Under HR 3200 EVERYONE resident and working in the US MUST sign up for this. Given that the healthcare profession is specifically prohibited from checking immigration status, that means illegals get treated, and the system pays.

I partially agree. He never should have shouted to begin with. It’s hypocritical to call them out on hissing and booing Bush when Wilson did the same thing. The sad thing is, even if this bill requires legal status verification, you just KNOW some liberal court out in CA will get it struck down as somehow discriminatory, AND it will be upheld by that out of control appeals court in San Francisco.
Meanwhile, I am going to contribute to Joe Wilson, too.
http://www.joewilsonforcongress.com
Right now it goes straight to his contribution page. Rush mentioned something about his website bandwidth being blown out today. I did look at his website in the google cache and prominently on the front page is something about making sure illegal aliens will not get benefits from whatever bill comes out of Congress.
karenhasfreedom on September 10, 2009 at 1:38 PM
Also, I followed that democratunderground link above. Joe Wilson’s opponent is a retread from the 2008 election, and the opponent of Joe Wilson supports the card check bill. That alone means we need to donate to Joe Wilson. The DU posts said they expect Wilson’s opponent to raise $200K today.
So if 1,000 of us send in $25 let’s show them we support a guy who had guts to do what he did. Apology aside, (civil thing to do), it was very worthwhile because now JOE is the topic of the town today, NOT obama’s speech.

The Daily Kos morons have posted dozens of threads focusing on Joe Wilson instead of their “brilliant” Messiah’s speech.
Predictably, they consider him worse than Hitler.

Somebody better give Wilson the medal of Freedom for speaking up last night. Every Republican that comes out and speaks against him needs to be voted out of office. Where in the hell did the Republicans place their balls?

Speaking “truth to power” from someone who refuses to either post under his/her real name, or refuses to link his moniker to a site he/she owns. And just where might YOUR “balls” be?
Somedays, whenever I hear anyone ask “where is the GOP?” on this or any other issue, I think back to something Bill Polian had said about taking direction from the fans. I’m paraphrasing, but he said something along the lines of: When you take direction from the fans in the stands, you soon find yourself in the stands, with the fans.

Well this is politics, not baseball. And in politics if YOU don’t take direction from the fans you WILL wind up in the stands.
