Video: GOP congressman yells “liar” at Obama; Update: Wilson apologizes
posted at 9:27 pm on September 9, 2009 by Allahpundit
The culprit was South Carolina rep Joe Wilson, who felt moved to act when The One told what was, in fact, a lie. Although certainly not his biggest of the night: Where this jackass gets off lecturing Americans on civility after his cretinous cronies spent a month demagoging the hell out of every protester in sight is beyond me. You’re Mr. Clean, aren’t you, champ? And bottom-feeders like Harry Reid are your hatchet men. Nice work if you can get it.
I’m told that his magic number of “47 million” uninsured Americans magically dropped to 30 million uninsured in this speech, presumably to omit the illegal immigrants who were inflating the tally. Here’s a photo of Wilson at work. Click the image to watch.
Update: When do Obama and Reid apologize for their month of jackassery?
“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

Help Joe Wilson! Donate what ever you can at above link. Call Boehner’s and McConnell’s office in support of Joe Wilson. Call McShame and tell him to stop apologizing for everything REPUBS do – that this guy was just expressing the sentiments of the MAJORITY of Americans, as witnessed at Townhalls across the land.

Two questions:
1) Why did Wilson apologize?
2) Why are other Republicans repudiating him?
Dems have booed and heckled many times during past joint sessions!

I am SO tired of spineless Republicans. Joe Wilson was a hero last night and he blew it this morning. Why did he apologize? Did he all of a sudden think Obama wasn’t lying? Or is he just a coward like every other Republican on Capitol Hill?

Obama demeans the office of the POTUS. To say that the emperor wears no clothes is nothing to censure, unless you’re the emperor or a sock puppet.
Thank you, Rep.Joe Wilson, for clarifying the record at the moment Obama lied.
Bill Bennett’s guest host agrees with Wilson and me.
To hell with Mr. Manners McCain who always goes TOO FAR criticizing those with the guts to name a bold faced lie, rather than faulting the liar or at least the lie.
How dare anyone censure Joe Wilson while Charles Rangle runs about scot-free dodging half his taxes since 2002.
Rep. Wilson is NOT the first to loudly object to an outrageous lie coming from the House Speaker’s Podium, even coming from a potus. Don’t tell me that prior to our Civil War there weren’t such expressions of outrage.
Rep. Joe Wilson (SC) made no such physical assault. What we know, and at this point in time are grateful for, is that South Carolina has the pelotas to rebut a bold faced lie as it is delivered, nipping it in the bud. In TWO WORDS he cut to the chase. “YOU LIE.” And in every point in fact, Obama’s speech last night began to lay down Obama’s lies and hollow promises when he announced he would deliver the speech of all speeches to clarify all things for everyone.
How’s that “get in their face” feel, Mr. President? Obama’s response to “You lie,” “that’s not true” applied to his speech, not to Wilson’s audacity to speak truth to power so abruptly. Shock and awe. Don’t discredit the attack because it was delivered in a way you wouldn’t have chosen. There is no real reason that Obama should only face sugar coated protestation when he IS lying and his agenda IS to force America into submission to authoritarian rulers who disregard our Constitutional Governance.
Wilson called the White House to apologize to Obama, and Raum Emmanuel wouldn’t put the call through. Barack is too small a man with such hypocritically thin skin to accept an apology, just as he showed the public during his campaign.
Obama still hasn’t and never will read HR3200. No one will even take “credit” for having written HR3200.
maverick muse on September 10, 2009 at 8:27 AM
I didn’t watch the fictional speech, and heard about Wilson’s outburst via Twitter last night (then saw replay on Fox News). I think it was awesome. Inappropriate, perhaps, but dead on and ballsy.
I’m driving into work near Philly and I’m just getting incensed listening to local radio. People around here honestly want him tried for treason! Never mind that Dhims have done far worse in similar situations, never mind that the One was in fact lying (and calling Palin et al liars seconds before). It sucks that he did apologize (though I would have been okay with the boilerplate “I’m sorry if anyone was offended”), and it sucks he will be sanctioned, but for heaven’s sake! Treason?
Is that the thinking on the left now? ANY public disagreement with the One is subject to criminal penalty??
Grrr….!

Apologizing isn’t so bad. He said he let his emotions get the best of him. America understands.
That should be what all the Pubs say,,,
“After listening to the President state that there were no death panels, that abortions would not be covered, that this really wasn’t a government takeover,, well when he said that illegals would not be covered as well,, it just became too much and my emotions got the best of me because I know that is not true. So, I apologize.”

“Inappropriate” ONLY IN PC.
This is NOT the first time or the last time Obama will deliver another campaign promise speech demanding full attention from Congress and from the US public via airwaves.
Obama’s speech was truly INAPPROPRIATE, not simply politically correct inappropriate, because Obama demanded everyone listen attentively while he laid on lie after lie after lie.
Common sense dictated Rep. Charles Wilson’s revulsion for the speech and the audacious DISHONESTY of the speaker.
‘YOU LIE’ WAS LONG PAST DUE. Buck up, Mr. President, and accept the majority of Americans’ repudiation of your authoritarian mannerisms and demands upon our liberties. Your speeches are NOT amongst “a few of our favorite things.“

The President used the bully pulpit to call Palin, before he puked forth the “illegal aliens aren’t covered” sleaze, a liar.
Immediately before.
Immediately before.
Then he lies.
The issue now is: It is inappropriate to call the President a liar when he lies in front of a joint session of Congress and the entire Nation, immediately after he calls a citizen a liar on live prime time?
This would be laughable, if it wasn’t fascistic.
So, the Obamateurism of the week is:
Speech turns into discussion about lying about illegal aliens and/or whether or not “death panel” is an appropriate moniker for a government run health care system that will eventually be forced into cost triage.
They’re screwed.

Joe Wilson is a true American, and a patriot.
I’m sure that at the convening of the First Continental Congress, it was all about order and decorum (NOT!). Since when did conservatives lose their sacs? It’s perfectly patriotic for the batsh*t crazy lefties to speak “truth to power” (their version of truth, anyway), so it’s about damn time that our side makes their voices heard. And, since Obummer won’t hold a town meeting stacked with anything but fawning admirers and supporters, we never have the opportunity to call him on his bullsh*t. So, it’s up to our elected representatives to speak for us, and I don’t care when or where…
…Just SPEAK!!!
I’ll be dropping some in Joe’s hat today, and I suggest everybody do the same. Word’s out that his opponent got a bump in donations in the hours after the “speech” (or, the BIG LIE)… I’d like to see Joe bring in 3-4 times the amount, for standing up for US.

I can’t wait for the hypocrisy forthcoming from Pelosi. Will she have the guts to censure Wilson for his outburst, yet allow Charlie Rangel to keep his chairmanship while simultaneously cheating the IRS out of thousands?
“Let’s see what he does,” Hoyer said before Wilson issued an apology. “Then there’s time enough to consider further action.”

Hey, don’t fall into this trap about whether Wilson apologizing meaning that he’s “falling in line”.
He did this country a great service, by calling the President a liar inside the chamber in front of the entire Nation, and then apologizing for failing to control his emotions. He did not apologize for being correct.
He showed some class by doing this, which the President has yet to do himself.
The speech is derailed, by the boy who cried “The Emporer Has No Clothes”, and Oabama has noone to blame but himself.

So long as Obama only got stroked while delivering his fraud, the fraud grew worse and worse.

The total dollar figure Rangel has rangled from his IRS obligations is hundreds of thousands.
Two nights ago on C-SPAN, Rep. John Carter, R-TX, led a formal House special motion to censure Rep. Rangel that also challenged Pelosi to meet HER obligations to the responsibilities of the House Speaker to tell Rangel to step aside until the House COMPLETES investigations (yes, plural) of his IRS frauds, already a year in progress while Rangel AND HIS ENTIRE STAFF continue to perpetuate more tax fraud. I believe the House member who brought up that point was a physician from South Carolina as well.

I’ve been thinking,,
The Dems will not hesitate to make all kinds of wild accusations against Republicans. Obama has no problem standing up there before congress and telling people that if congress fails to pass government health care people will die. He has no problems stating that his critics are distorting the facts and misrepresenting his goals! Obama just as much called Palin a liar last night!
So I will tell you why this made the Dems mad,, because standing up and calling Obama a liar works!! The Dems have been using tactics like that for years!! The last thing they want is for Republicans to do the same,, especially since they would also have the power of the truth on their side!
Joe Wilson stood up and pulled back the curtain! He did the unthinkable by showing courage and shouting “Liar!” which equates with “The Emperor is naked! He has no clothes!”

I have an idea for an invention I’ll give away gratis. The TelePrompter Company should create and manufacture a LIE-O-METER(tm). It would be a computer-based system that would verbally breakdown the speaker’s words, compare it against a database and then display an analog meter at the bottom of the viewer’s tv screen.
If we’d had that technology available for last night’s agitprop speech, from the instant that lying, Kenyan socialist opened his mouth the meter would have been pegged and stayed there for five minutes after he finally STFU.
CatchAll on September 10, 2009 at 9:33 AM
I think Rep. Wilson has acted completely appropriately on all accounts. He let his feelings be known and put on display the divisive nature of the Presidents words. But apologized immediately and fully without having to be bullied or pushed. That, to me, is the end of it. Besides, the President himself called others liars in his speech. Isn’t a prepared speech demonizing the opposition even more insulting then an emotional reaction to said speech?

Maxine Waters: We all felt embarrassed.
John McCain: It was “totally disrespectful”.
Well, I feel embarrassed to have Maxine Waters as a representative of the United States. I felt embarrassed that John McCain was the Republican nominee! I think it is totally disrespectful for him (and the others who are attacking Wilson) to criticize Wilson, since Wilson was only standing up for the truth. I find it totally disrespectful that all of our representatives aren’t standing up and correcting the president’s lies.
Wilson should have been much clearer in his apology about the reasons for him losing control of his emotions. The media is spinning it away from Obama’s lies and focusing on another crazy out-of-control anti-healthcare conservative. The basta*ds.
Otherwise, good on him. Now, he needs to hold a press conference or put out a full statement on the whole ordeal. The “I disagree” with the President isn’t strong enough. It gives the impression that it is only his opinion. They are either lies, or they’re not. Anyway, he needs to do something so he doesn’t look weak. Honestly, right now, he does.

I have no problem with the apology, as it is a small price to pay for having the Liar called out. The thing to remember is that the cockroaches have scurried back to their underground bunkers in Washington. As close-minded and unconcerned as many of our Reps were when facing their constituents face to face in Town Halls, it will be many times worse now that they are back in secluded safety.
It was okay that the GOP was relatively quiet in August because We the People were standing up for ourselves. But now that the Ruling Cabal is back in their cloistered sanctuary we need our elected officials to speak up on our behalf! There should be a constant parade of press appearances and releases refuting every single lie and agenda coming out in every one of these Bills.
I want to hear every detail from these comittee meetings. I want to hear about it every time the Dems huddle up together and cut the other side out of negotiations. I want my goddamn transparency and I want it now!

There are laws preventing individuals from entering the country illegally so all those individuals that I see standing on the street corners must not really exist? I mean there is a LAW everyone, it is on the motherfookin Internet…SEE!
Hahah, I bet you could not even name one of your congressmen without the aide of Google. Go back to Digg/KOS child, you are out of your league.

good thing he said he was sorry. I don’t like obama’s ideas either, but conservatives aren’t like the punk kids that keep interrupting the minutemen or ann coulter, or bill kristol, etc.

I can’t believe that with the demos in charge of everything they are going to leave the illegals out. They will be covered and believe me make no mistake about that. Just because it says so in the bill does not mean that illegals won’t get free health care. They will change that bill so it will include the illegals. After all look how many votes come from the illegals including the dead ones.

1) Because he is a douche
2) Because he is a douche
Dems AND Republicans have heckled and booed during joint sessions, that does NOT make it right. Calling the president a liar during a joint session is even less right.

If patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels, propriety is the first trench.
After years of objecting to ‘abuses’ of power such as warranted searches of Congressional offices, Congress rolls over for being summoned like poodles to give oomph to a political rally. What gives? If Mr. Obama wants a national TV audience let him ask for one, he does not need to silence my representative, an equal officer of the Constitution, while he spouts horseshit about socialized medicine.
The President lied often and long and loud, and AS HE SUGGESTED should be called on it. If he doesn’t want to hear the reaction of the people’s representatives, he should not summon them.

Joe Wilson. A Republican with a spine. What will they think of next?!
Joe the Plumber. Joe the Republican Congressman.
We could use a few more Joes.

Why? Was Obama NOT lying?
PappaMac on September 10, 2009 at 10:26 AM
Even if what Wilson said was the truth.
Wilson, you bad boy.
