Fearmonger-in-chief: Pass my crappy bill or people will die

posted at 10:30 pm on September 9, 2009 by Allahpundit

“Everyone in this room knows what will happen if we do nothing,” says the guy who’s committed to doing nothing about social security, Medicare, and the mind-bogglingly enormous deficits that promise fiscal catastrophe in the years ahead while he saddles America with yet another red-ink-bleeding government program. Note well: He’s actually promoting a plan that will lead to health-care rationing as a way to prolong Americans’ lives. We’re living your dream, Orwell. Click the image to watch.

Plain and simple: Obamao and Pelosi want to destroy the insurance business and ultimately Big Pharma. They want to make health providers employees of the State.

Here’s what Orwell sent out to his sheeple tonight:

I just finished laying out my plan for health reform at a joint session of Congress. Now, I’m writing directly to you because what happens next is critical — and I need your help.

Change this big will not happen because I ask for it. (You’re the Messiah, why not?) It can only come when the nation demands it. Congress knows where I stand. Now they need to hear from you.

Add your voice: Ask your representatives to support my plan for real health reform in 2009.

The heart of my plan is simple: bring stability and security to Americans who already have health insurance, guarantee affordable coverage for those who don’t, and rein in the cost of health care.

(Liar)

Tonight, I offered a specific plan for how to make it happen. I incorporated the best ideas from Democrats and Republicans to create a plan that’s bold, practical, and represents the broad consensus of the American people.

(Liar)

We’ve come closer to real health reform in the last few months than we have in the last 60 years. But those who profit from the status quo — and those who put partisan advantage above all else — will fight us every inch of the way.

(You mean the sane majority in this country?)

We do not seek that fight (Liar), but we will not shrink from it. The stakes are too high to let scare tactics cloud the debate, or to allow partisan bickering to block the path. Your voice, right now, is essential.

See my full plan and call on your representatives to support it:

http://my.barackobama.com/SupportReform

Ours is not the first generation to understand the dire need for health reform. And I am not the first president to take up this cause, but I am determined to be the last.

(May it be so)

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

I have said this many, many times on my website: http://www.truthandcommonsense.com The problem with being inside a revolution is one of perspective. Many are confused by the silver tongued devil in charge spouting lies like they were gold (or maybe silver as in thirty?) coins from his mouth.
But I think some of you now are beginning to understand why some many other supposedly intelligent and thoughtful societies fell to dull and blunt dictatorships.
It is easy to get caught up in the moment and not see the whole picture.
The left knows the more they pile on the harder it is to resist, especially if lies are used to re-enforce the effort.
The left’s belief that “The ends justify the means” is all you need to know to understand the danger we are all in.

Ahhh, you are close grasshopper but you do not yet see.

The trick here is the “its not a Gov’t takeover” but all insurance policies have to be run through the regulatory system of the Gov’t controled “exchange.” Its a double whammy to insure everyone is in the system, where the Gov’t being resposible for your health there-fore is justified in dictating your behavior.

How can someone have so sense of the life around him, so little life in him? We are seeing the soulless perfidy of leftism now, its cold, shriveled and voracious core of need, the tireless automaton of lies and fears that has no other choice left but to beat you into submission with more lies and fears. I wonder if the people will see it, feel it. It’s a horror, and it’s existence is hard to accept, and much harder to face.

John the Libertarian on September 10, 2009 at 12:32 AM

Cuda Strikes Back!

After all the rhetoric is put aside, one principle ran through President Obama’s speech tonight: that increased government involvement in health care can solve its problems.

Many Americans fundamentally disagree with this idea. We know from long experience that the creation of a massive new bureaucracy will not provide us with “more stability and security,” but just the opposite. It’s hard to believe the President when he says that this time he and his team of bureaucrats have finally figured out how to do things right if only we’ll take them at their word.

Our objections to the Democrats’ health care proposals are not mere “bickering” or “games.” They are not an attempt to “score short term political points.” And it’s hard to listen to the President lecture us not to use “scare tactics” when in the next breath he says that “more will die” if his proposals do not pass.

In his speech the President directly responded to concerns I’ve raised about unelected bureaucrats being given power to make decisions affecting life or death health care matters. He called these concerns “bogus,” “irresponsible,” and “a lie” — so much for civility. After all the name-calling, though, what he did not do is respond to the arguments we’ve made, arguments even some of his own supporters have agreed have merit.

In fact, after promising to “make sure that no government bureaucrat …. gets between you and the health care you need,” the President repeated his call for an Independent Medicare Advisory Council — an unelected, largely unaccountable group of bureaucrats charged with containing Medicare costs. He did not disavow his own statement that such a group, working outside of “normal political channels,” should guide decisions regarding that “huge driver of cost … the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives….” He did not disavow the statements of his health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, and continuing to pay his salary with taxpayer dollars proves a commitment to his beliefs. The President can keep making unsupported assertions, but until he directly responds to the arguments I’ve made, I’m going to call him out too.

It was heartening to hear the President finally recognize that tort reform is an important part of any solution. But this concession shouldn’t lead us to take our eye off the ball: the Democrats’ proposals will not reduce costs, and they will not deliver better health care. It’s this kind of “healthy skepticism of government” that truly reflects a “concern and regard for the plight of others.” We can’t wait to hear the details on that; we look forward to working with you on tort reform.

Finally, President Obama delivered an offhand applause line tonight about the cost of the war. As we approach the anniversary of the September 11th attacks and honor those who died that day and those who have died since in order to secure our freedoms, we need to remember their sacrifices and not demonize them as having had too high a price tag.

Remember, Mr. President, elected officials work for the people. Forcing a conclusion in order to claim a “victory” is not healthy for our country. We hear you say government isn’t always the answer; now hear us — that’s what we’ve been saying all along.

- Sarah Palin

The government has an obligation to stop fraud and abuse, the government has no power to regulate how we live our lives, in other words, the government is there to keep Americans from harming other Americans and has no right to protect us from ourselves in any way shape or form, including any attempt to force us into anything pertaining to anything as personal as our bodies.

So far as the progressive fascists are concerned:

If Roe V Wade is Constitutional, ObamaCare is not.

How is it when Sarah Palin coins the phrase “death panel,” she’s fearmongering but Obama can shriek about more people dying if we don’t PASS THIS BILL NOW! This entire administration and every piece of legislation it has managed to ram through this far has been premised on nothing BUT fearmongering!

I still can’t decide whether President Liar McLyington is just outrageously disingenuous or simply plain stupid. Equating profits with overhead would seem to provide evidence of the latter. Perhaps he’s just a bit of both.

BTW, conservatives, how many of you received an email missive from our ad hoc leader, Sarah Palin, two minutes after this speech urging you to call your representatives to urge them to vote NO on this bill? Yeah, I didn’t get one either. You might could count her Facebook rebuttal as a call to arms . . . except she didn’t ask us to do anything. Maybe cuz, unlike Teh One and his massive ego, Sarah Palin is doing this because she cares about this country and its future.

NoLeftTurn on September 10, 2009 at 12:56 AM

Governor Sarah Palin should have given the Republican Response, because hers was right on the money.

And it’s hard to listen to the President lecture us not to use “scare tactics” when in the next breath he says that “more will die” if his proposals do not pass.

And the morale of the story is – the less credibility there is for him, the more there is for you.

If the Jug-eared One wants to talk “scare tactics”, well then let’s talk about it.

You know what is scary?

Giving the IRS or any agency the legal authority to take your property if you don’t do x; x in this case being buying government-approved health insurance?

What is the next x going to be? Do we really want to go down that road?

Yeah, that qualifies as scary where I come from.

I guess that isn’t exactly “scare tactics”.

It is out-and-out bullying and an abhorrent breach of the fundimentals of our Constitution.

Newsbusters is reporting Keith Olbermann introduced the Republican response from the heart-surgeon Congressman from Louisiana by saying “Here is the Republican response from a physician who has been sued for malpractice three times…..”

Un-freaking-believable. Want to see every physician in the US boil like a pan of hot water left on the stove for hours? Publicize THAT.

Fundamental fundimentals, at that.

I know someone has to have mentioned this already but regardless of what passes it won’t take effect for three to five years from signing.

For reals? I didn’t know that.

Cuda’s “To-Do” List

1. Run 5 miles
2. Lay out bear rug in new (Oval) office
3. Kill ObamaCare

Suing doctors is like the lottery for some people. Unless he was found guilty of malpractice, or there are a significant number of suits above the norm for a given time period, then this is a cheap shot. But what do you expect from Olby anyway…

ReaganRoxx on September 10, 2009 at 1:17 AM

I loved the analysis on CNN regarding the “Blue Dog” Democrats .. namely since they worked with Bush to raise the debt for things like the prescription drug plan, they should now work with Obama to raise the debt even higher.

That’s not exactly what they said, but it was the bottom line.

Remember when I wanted so much for my ObamaCare to win
And I got on my knees
And threatened the nation for it not to lose
Because if it did I’d go beserk

Well it lost anyhow
And then my days got worse and worse
And now you see I’ve gone
Completely out of my mind

When I warned you of the charging Sarah you thought it was a joke
And so you laughed
You laughed when I said
That Sarah Palin would make me flip my lid

Right? You know you laughed
I heard you laugh. You laughed
You laughed and laughed and then you left
And now you know I’m going utterly mad

LOL the look on Pelosi’s face was priceless. She was actually shocked–shocked–that someone would disagree with Dear Leader.

Is she really in that big a bubble, or just really good at ignoring people’s concerns?

Both.

But she really is in a bubble. All the bums in DC are.

LOL! Best line of the night.

Obama went to a Joint Session of Congress Wednesday night and a townhall meeting broke out.

Obama declared war tonite and his presidency became the first casualty. They can try to spin this fiasco speech anyway they want but he was mocked in public and he didn’t change the political landscape outside the beltway.

Bingo…. I LITERALY went to First Grade with Dennis Cardoza… Representative from California… grew up with him (small town… Atwater Calif.).

He was pretty divorced from reality before he ever hit either the Calif Legislature, or the Congress… but its even worse now…

Had a good Friend who worked for Gary Condit out there… another person divorced from the real world… (went to a couple of his “events” for the free booze).

I’m not sure if delusional people are drawn to politics…. or they become delusional because of politics… but it sure seems that they are consistantly delusional…

Obama did lie.

HR3200 says no illegal immigrants. Except there is no enforcement provision whatsoever.

Republicans put forward Heller Amendment, which would have put in an enforcement mechanism to exclude illegal immigrants, by applying the existing SAVE program. (Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements)

Democrats voted against this on a party line vote, killing it in the ways and means committee.

“Everyone in this room knows what will happen if we do nothing,”

So, while the House and Senate Democrats have been dicking around, refusing to act in good faith bipartisanship, people have been dying?

Pelosi and Reid… murderers!

malclave on September 10, 2009 at 2:22 AM

Reminds me of when Clinton begrudgingly stated: “I am not irrelevant.”

I thought the Dems won–presidency, Senate, House. And they are acting like this?

I was introduced to shooting through my son’s junior program. 5 years and about 11 guns later . . . .

I think the whole speech (aside from the many factual errors and outright lies) can be perfectly represented by this one sentence from The Precedent:

But know this: I will not waste time with those who have made the calculation that it’s better politics to kill this plan than improve it.

We’ve got everything that makes him such an absolutely repulsive person.

– A laughable attempt to act tough.

– A refusal to anything that goes against his orthodoxy.

– A wholly disingenuous straw man put up to try to defend the point above.

– An attempt to pretend that the real issue (the un-Constiutional expansion of the federal government) doesn’t even exist.

– A meaningless sense of measure, that he refuses to define, used not for semantic content, but, merely as a prop.

This is The Precedential strategy for everything, in a nutshell. To round it all out, we need only his moronic lie to top it off:

Everyone in this room knows what will happen if we do nothing. Our deficit will grow.

Our federal deficit isn’t even touched by private insurance and private care. However, with the un-Constitutional expansion of the federal government into “private” insurance (just opening a company for the claimed purpose of ‘providing competition’ – such an un-Constitutional notion that it really boggles the mind) our federal deficit will then, indeed, become attached to health care costs in the private sector. Lies upon a savage shredding of the Constitution wrapped in idiocy. Trying to use the results of what he wants to do to justify needing to do what he wants to do to avoid the results of what he wants to do. It’s nothing short of insane.

The rest of the speech was merely commentary built around these two types of statements. Pathetic.
