Fearmonger-in-chief: Pass my crappy bill or people will die

posted at 10:30 pm on September 9, 2009 by Allahpundit

“Everyone in this room knows what will happen if we do nothing,” says the guy who’s committed to doing nothing about social security, Medicare, and the mind-bogglingly enormous deficits that promise fiscal catastrophe in the years ahead while he saddles America with yet another red-ink-bleeding government program. Note well: He’s actually promoting a plan that will lead to health-care rationing as a way to prolong Americans’ lives. We’re living your dream, Orwell. Click the image to watch.

I think it needs to be reformed but it’s not anywhere near the top of the list. If I were President – I’d commission a non-political board to come up with CAPITALISTIC options to provide Americans with the best health care possible. But the direction to the board would be – “People have a responsibility also”.

We have the best healthcare in the world … so good in fact that the “rejects” from countries with broken nationalized systems come here for treatment.

We need to be careful not to kill what we have.

Hey troll, answer the question …….

Where are all the lame trolls?

I want one of them to explain to us why their party is incapable of passing this bill. Why blame Republicans for the failure of Democrats to get there own legislation passed, while they have a majority in both houses?

I think it needs to be reformed but it’s not anywhere near the top of the list.

Where to start. Well, Tort reform and eliminating barriers to purchasing insurance out of state.

And, the “billions” of $ of fraud and abuse in Medicare/Medicaid seems to be a very strong arguement AGAINST

Does anyone here agree with his opening statement that the American health care system must be reformed? That Republican Response confirmed that, but is that the prevailing opinion?

ReaganRoxx on September 9, 2009 at 10:46 PM

No. It’s not my opinion. I’m not open to reforming anything until I know why it needs reforming. In this case, the argument as to why health care costs so much has not been offered. Why does health insurance cost so much? Uh…because doctors and hospitals charge a lot.

Why do doctors and hospitals charge so much? Because they’re doctors, silly. Seriously though, why does it cost $300 just to have an MD walk into a small room and tell you to take off your clothes? Why does an MRI cost thousands fo dollars? I understand the MRI machine has a high capital cost. Why does a hospital charge $8.00 for a Tylenol (of OTC strength) when I can buy a jar of 50 for the same price?

It’s not the insurance companies or employers that set the base price. It’s the service providers. No one of “authority” is willing to speak about this.

How many doctors file for bankruptcy because they have too many patients? To hear them speak, you’d think they’d all be bankrupt but as a group, they seem to be doing okay.

Hmmmm…..

“Now look at one way Mr. Obama wants to eliminate inefficiency and waste: He’s asked Congress to create an Independent Medicare Advisory Council—an unelected, largely unaccountable group of experts charged with containing Medicare costs. In an interview with the New York Times in April, the president suggested that such a group, working outside of “normal political channels,” should guide decisions regarding that “huge driver of cost . . . the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives . . . .”

Given such statements, is it any wonder that many of the sick and elderly are concerned that the Democrats’ proposals will ultimately lead to rationing of their health care by—dare I say it—death panels? Establishment voices dismissed that phrase, but it rang true for many Americans”

Whose lyin?
Why Pinnochio of course and he cannot put that genie back in the bottle.
He lied about his associations to get elected and then appoints the same far leftist even communits he always hung with. He doesn’t want to run car companies but does he impunes profits at every turn failing to understand profits fund Americans ability to purchase save and retire!
The centrists and Independents gave him the benefit of the doubt and with his smug attitude ,”I Won” his lies, “no abortion coverage, no illegals coverage, no death panels” he has squandered any shred of credibilty he ever had and he did absolutely nothing to get it back tonight!

I had the same thought. I wondered briefly if his admirers might think it odd but then I realized they would consider him bilingual.

Cindy Munford on September 9, 2009 at 10:59 PM

I think it needs to be reformed but it’s not anywhere near the top of the list.

Where to start. Well, a short list would include Tort reform, eliminating barriers to purchasing insurance out of state and reducing the myriad duplicative regulatory requirements (including mandated coverage) would seem to be obvious places.

And, the “billions” of $ of fraud and abuse in Medicare/Medicaid seems to be a very strong arguement AGAINST a bigger role for the Feds, not a supporting one.

There’s a lot of tweaking that can be done to improve what’s lousy without overhauling or scrapping the best medical care in the world.

Obama just wants us all dependent on the government, pure and simple. When Obama controls who gets treated and who doesn’t, it’s pretty much over, isn’t it?

In the end, rest assured it’s all part of redistributing wealth in one way or another.

In a sense, but the Erie Canal turned out to be a pretty good investment, not just for NY but for the country as a whole much like the Interstate Highway System.

I’m not sure the quote used above was relative to the Eirie Canal (where the POTUS vetoed a bill that would have used Federal dollars to build it), but my point is there are some large capital expenses (typically for infrastructure) which only the government can provide.

Can you imaging the rats nest of highways we’d have if the states or private enterprise were left to build it without Federal standards?

Government-run healthcare is a bad idea. I’m not all that fond of paying for Medicare, but I do see a need for it. It’s not the program itself, but the fraud and waste that comes with entitlement programs that we can’t afford.

I’ll re post my dream for whatever it’s worth,(also, you said my dream was about the GOP, actually, in the dream, there really wasn’t a distinction about GOP or Dem.)
As I remember it,,, I was looking down over congress and it was different. (meaning, there were different faces) Everyone was working quickly and quietly and as one. They were all working to overturn all that Obama had done, but going even further. They were also working to remove all traces of his Presidency.(in the dream, I remember thinking it reminded me of how a surgeon would be quickly working to save a dying patient. Working quickly and quietly. Obama was gone. In the dream I do not know what had happened to him,,or where he was, just that he was gone. And not just him, but everyone that was associated with him. He was nowhere in Washington. Then it was like I could see all over DC,, and the streets were filled with crowds of people They were all standing in groups and they were all very quiet and looking towards the Capital,, waiting for word on what congress was doing. And congress was doing everything that these people wanted. It was also very solemn in the dream. There was no happiness over anything. It was just like a very solemn dream. I don’t want to say depressing,,, but serious. Very serious. It was kind of a heavy dream. One other thing I didn’t post,,, in the dream that I remember, it was like there wasn’t any President at that time. It was strange. Just like all the focus was on congress and this serious work they were doing to correct everything,, and they were doing it all in a hurry. and they were all acting as one.
I make no claim that this dream is a prediction of anything. I’m not in that business. But it was a dream I had,, and then I woke up from it,, and it all seemed very real and heavy.

HornetSting on September 9, 2009 at 11:19 PM

Waste and fraud–pretty much sums up the speech!

chickasaw42 on September 9, 2009 at 11:19 PM

Nice photo of the three stooges. (Meaning no insult to Larry, Mo, and Curley)

Well she is rumored to have an ice fortress in AK!

Archimedes on September 9, 2009 at 11:17 PM

Levi told me her “ice fortress” was somewhere a little more personal….

\what?

Oh I see. What made me think that the Donks were gone was your saying that everyone associated with Obama was gone.

I think dreams can be prescient. As a matter of fact, I’ve had some myself, as well as know others who have also.

Your dream just struck me as like that.

I am pretty sure that isn’t what Mr. Rywall meant but you are definitely more accurate.

Cindy Munford on September 9, 2009 at 11:21 PM

Before I leave I also want to point out how Pleased and Proud McCain was by being pointed out by the Liar and Chief. I voted for him out of fear of Obama and for Sarah, but I think that we have dodged a bullet. McCain, if he had any testicles, would have walked out or at least looked grim. That grin on his face was disgusting.

GunRunner on September 9, 2009 at 11:22 PM

Even in the face of armageddon. No Comprimise.-Rorscach

Wonder how he feels about Obama?

ThatMan on September 9, 2009 at 11:23 PM

Several Republicans held up the Republican alternative healthcare bill, and Rep. John Shimkus, R-Ill walked out in the middle of the speech.

Enoxo on September 9, 2009 at 11:16 PM

Great pictures. Thanks for the link. I’m sure Shimkus will get beat to death for more than likely walking out to go take a pee.

Knucklehead on September 9, 2009 at 11:23 PM

Check out this thread on DU. Not for DU comments, but for the pictures they show.

Enoxo:Judging by those pictures,and Obama performance,the
Liberals are worried!!!

Its too bad the camera’s didn’t linger longer. The
American people would of seen disgusted Republicans,
because Obama,once again,wasted their time!!:)

Any insta polling on the speech?

The guy sitting behind him was tickling his ass with his wingtip.

Patrick S on September 9, 2009 at 11:27 PM

OT: I saw some of BOR tonight and he was so excited to have an interview with Axelrod that he could barely speak. It was so embarrassing that I had to switch.

Lately he seem to constantly justify Limbaugh referring to him as Ted Baxter.

whbates on September 9, 2009 at 11:29 PM

The DU comments are revealing. “Cracker” this and “pasty white guys” that. Dem always go racist.

GunRunner on September 9, 2009 at 11:30 PM

This from the pendejo who wants to de-fund NASA for more vote-buying projects. As far as I am concerned anybody who tells him to his face to FTFO deserves a medal.

And BTW, if you have ever been in possession of the following objects and are lecturing Joe Wilson, me, or anybody else about civility, this is your notice to STFU before the stench of your BS brings the EPA down on your butt:

Any graphics comparing Bush to Hitler
Any “Impeach Bush” bumper stickers
Bonus if they have been on your car since December 2000
Anything from Cindy Sheehan
Anything from Code Pink
Any defaced effigies or pictures of George Bush
Any Truther materials

The list goes on….

Yay! I think they have learned from us. They are starting to act like they have a pair!

They’ve learned from all the tea parties and the town halls.

Dave Rywall on September 9, 2009 at 10:50 PM

Ah, did the little one run from his room, yell at the adults and tell us how stupid we are? Then only to run right back to his room, in the usual passive-aggressive behavior?

It’s okay, take a deep breath, calm down, and then open the pod bay doors. The page title “Fearmonger-in-chief: Pass my crappy bill or people will die” is an obvious reference to Cheney’s ideal national security.

disillusioned on September 9, 2009 at 11:33 PM

I’m no genius, but if Obama knows how to save a trillion dollars by ending waste, fraud and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid, why was not that done YESTERDAY…OR SIX MONTHS AGO???

Let’s make this step NUMBER ONE.

shorebird on September 9, 2009 at 11:10 PM

The only way Waste, fraud and abuse is found in the healthcare system is when insurance companies find it. I should know – that’s my job.

Medicare and Medicaid are frigging useless in that case. They follow what the insurance companies do.

No wonder Obama is demonising you health care folks…
You are cutting the corruption!

shorebird on September 9, 2009 at 11:34 PM

I can’t believe he said that – this is why I never watch these things in full…too frustrating.

d-mitch on September 9, 2009 at 11:34 PM

Hey guys give Dave Rywall a break. He’s Canadian after all and was exposed to his country’s medical system and is awaiting treatment for his mental condition. But since the wait list is 19 months in Saskatoon, it’s only getting worse.
