Fearmonger-in-chief: Pass my crappy bill or people will die

posted at 10:30 pm on September 9, 2009 by Allahpundit

“Everyone in this room knows what will happen if we do nothing,” says the guy who’s committed to doing nothing about social security, Medicare, and the mind-bogglingly enormous deficits that promise fiscal catastrophe in the years ahead while he saddles America with yet another red-ink-bleeding government program. Note well: He’s actually promoting a plan that will lead to health-care rationing as a way to prolong Americans’ lives. We’re living your dream, Orwell. Click the image to watch.

I, too, have worked in the Medicaid field. We were given a list of “approved” procedures. The list is VERY LONG OF NO’S. I am not fooling. It was alwsys a “hot-dog” moment when we were able to accept the ailment and treatment that fit into the guidelines and rules that was acceptable to the government. All I can say is, good luck if you are blind.

I know a gal who is poor and has no insurance coverage. She gets regular care at a clinic for people with limited resources and she pays nothing. Wait until she gets her Obamacare with insurance deductibles and copays. She will not be able to afford those and will end up with no healthcare. She is a legal alien resident, so won’t be eligible for Medicaid.

Obama was selling his baloney with gusto tonite!
Sorry, Big O, I’m just hearing the same old jazz from you and your trial lawyer buddies. Gonna study that malpractice lawsuit stuff, are ya? Yeah, sure. Study it, then tell us it doesn’t really help the “little guy”. And all the while, Texas goes on it’s merry way with a cap on malpractice in place and working. Man, that guy is such a loser. If they don’t believe you, yell louder why don’t you? Thats all you’re good at anyway.

DarkCurrent on September 10, 2009 at 4:34 AM

I am not sure what thread to post this on, but why the hard sell…?

Other than walking into a room and getting another round of applause, from people you work with every day, and more TV time for your smug face…

… What did you do it for, Obama?

You want to cut waste and fraud from government programs like Medicare and save Americans money on health care, then do it………. enforce the laws!

You don’t need to create another bureaucracy, just like enforcing illegal alien laws, just do it.

This has to stop….

Seven Percent Solution on September 10, 2009 at 4:48 AM

The sheer gall of this man is unbelievable. “My critics are fear mongering liars. If you don’t pass my plan EVERYONE IS GOING TO DIE!”
Unbelievable.

..ever notice that, when this sack of crap lies (i.e., gives a speech), his lips turn extra purple?

VoyskaPVO on September 10, 2009 at 4:59 AM

“My plan does not force anyone to lose the health insurance they already have.”

No it doesn’t force anyone to do that. It simply forces health insurance companies to quit offering policies.

“We all must share the burden…..health insurance laws just like auto insurance laws.”

There it is…the government mandate to reach into your pocket every week, in three ways…

1. Your mandatory premium.
2. Your penalty for having no insurance.
3. Interest on the penalty for having no insurance.

The ‘tax credit for the lowly’ is a joke. How many of the lowly are going to come up with their premium today on the promise of a tax credit tomorrow?

“will not cover illegals…”

How can it not? This was the biggest lie of the night.

Limerick on September 10, 2009 at 5:00 AM

Big lie from the lyingest of all the Washington liars.

davecatbone on September 10, 2009 at 5:06 AM

I realize that Obama was lying through his teeth when he said illegal aliens weren’t covered, but I did enjoy hearing him knock down the “number of uninsured” from the mythical figure of 47 million to 30 million. It’s a start, and I’ll look forward to liberal talking heads, who’ve had 47 million beaten into their heads, make the mistake of citing the old figure.

Now, let’s get an express prohibition in the bill or an express citizenship verification provision in the bill. Dems should have no objection now that Obama has assured us that illegals aren’t covered.

BuckeyeSam on September 10, 2009 at 5:27 AM

Obama is bitterly clinging to his plan to take over health care.

There was something nightmarish about this speech. The ways in which he repeated himself. The new lows of dishonesty, the new inhuman reaches of audacity. It defies reality. How can someone have so sense of the life around him, so little life in him? We are seeing the soulless perfidy of leftism now, its cold, shriveled and voracious core of need, the tireless automaton of lies and fears that has no other choice left but to beat you into submission with more lies and fears. I wonder if the people will see it, feel it. It’s a horror, and it’s existence is hard to accept, and much harder to face.

rrpjr on September 10, 2009 at 12:21 AM

Yeah, I’m pretty interested in that aspect as well. I don’t care so much what he says, or wants, there will always be dangerous people alive. I’m interested in whether the world around the dangerous people is sane enough to cope. When Obama won in Nov., I didn’t think so. After seeing so much spontaneous public resistance to him, and the reversal in the poll numbers, particularly among the so-called “independents,” I’m more optimistic that people can see, if later than I wish.

Has any of the msm challenged Obullshit’s assertion that a savings of “1/10th of 1 percent” would yield long-term savings of 4 trillion dollars? What kind of fuzzy math is this man using? He’s basically saying we will spend, uh, 4 quadrillion dollars on healthcare? Over what timeframe? 400 years?

Of course, with the way he’s printing money maybe that figure will be about right by the end of hid term…

swanzoid on September 10, 2009 at 6:31 AM

I was looking for a decent morning program to provide some analysis of Obama’s speech, ugh. Morning Joe apparently will spend its three hours ragging about Joe Wilson. Anymore, Scarborough and Obama should get a room.

On Fox and Friends (a marginal show at best), they did have a group of doctors who are marching on DC today to lobby members of Congress against Obamacare. I had heard about this group when I listened to Obama lie about having doctors on board. These docs noted that the AMA represents only about 17% of all docs. That sounds worse than the ABA’s representation of lawyers–the ABA has become so liberal that many lawyers no longer join.

BuckeyeSam on September 10, 2009 at 6:35 AM

Maybe they should use their formula for the Porkulus Bill:

“The sooner we pass this health care bill, the more lives will be created or saved!”

Logic on September 10, 2009 at 6:37 AM

A health care monoply is the first critical step to a tolitarian police state.
-
“Health care for everyone, provided all federal mandates are complied with”.
-
The question is , have enough Americans been dumbed down enough to surrender their liberty.
-

esblowfeld on September 10, 2009 at 6:50 AM

He hit the correct target when he said some think NOTHING should be done. That is his biggest fear/failure…. if nothing is done. At this point in time, that is also the best result. As long as congress continues to spend and spin like they are, nothing should be done.

The president sealed his own fate last night. He wrapped his own political coffin in a moonbeam and sealed it with a rainbow. It’s a good thing he got in there because all the scary people that need to be called out are chasing him, and they’re right behind the strawmen that he’s wounded.

buh bye barack. I may take up songwriting today, I think “Barack the Lame Duck” may have to get put to music… Trouble is that, I can sing and songwrite like Obama can lead….. but I guess that ain’t stopping him.

Yeah, so we’ve heard. But it would be a mistake imo. Not because it’s smart to go down with the obama ship, but because I don’t think she’ll ever work in gov’t in any capacity again. One of these days, maybe tomorrow, the general public will begin to understand that we’re in a new Depression, and that things aren’t getting better, and won’t for a long time. Also, the social safety net will fail. Dems will take the blame, and there will be no appetite among the public for liberal foolishness anymore. Just my opinion, of course, but I think the economy will destroy liberalism, just as liberalism destroyed the economy.

You said that well.
This was a weird speech. This President called congress together to demand they pass his take over of America. He was mad. He looked mad. He threatened. He lied. He scowled.
He did everything except pound the podium with his shoe and shout “I will bury you!”
I have come to believe this man is more dangerous than anyone knows. He is filled with himself and he is on a mission. That mission is the total takeover of America and to establish himself as leader of the world.

Kudos to the congressman who yelled out “liar” when Obama was again lying about illegals not being covered under the bill.

How much I would’ve paid to see him throw his shoes as well.

TXUS on September 10, 2009 at 7:27 AM

And to note this brand new “30 million without insurance” number used tonight. For weeks, months, years the leftist have been screaming about 40, no, 45, no, 47 million uninsured and, no sir, that did not include illegals. Just the number of good ol’, hard working Americans getting screwed by “big insurance.”

Well, I guess they had to admit it eventually. But now with only 30 mil w/o insurance, does that not drive the need for “change” even further down the list? Did BO accidentally start sawing off one of the legs of the table he and his cohorts are standing on?

Joe Wilson for President! lol I loved when that happened…made the speech fun to watch.

becki51758 on September 10, 2009 at 7:54 AM

If Hillary resigns and runs for NY gov. I think it will be a stupid move on her part too. Guiliani’s almost certainly going to win IF he runs, and come on, of course he’s gonna run.

Then she is probably going to want to run against O in’12, but who’s she kidding?? She’s part of this mess and does she seriously think the country will say “oh we just got through 4 years of THAT to get 4 years of more democrat rule with HER?” She must be out of her mind.

I’m not a Palinista or whatever the term is, but if ANY woman is going to be president any time soon it will be the fox from AK.
The ironic thing is the left always saw her as the True Believer and she would never sell out.
She’s the biggest sell out on the planet.

Re: Obama before the speech: I noticed Fox showing him waiting to be introduced and his head was in shadow. I couldn’t tell if his head was tilted up in snobbery, but his head –and only his head– was totally in shadow.
It was a picture made for Drudge.

We have a Good Samaritan clinic in town as well. Probably more people could take advantage of it if they knew it existed; the poor tend to be less well informed about what is available to them in the community. But nevertheless, they serve a lot of people who need it. I’ve also been to the urgent care clinics in town (frequently when my grandmother was still with us and we were on a WAITING LIST to get an actual PCP who would accept her, being a Medicare patient and all . . . ) and there are always plenty of folks there who are uninsured. Never have I witnessed someone being turned away for that reason.

It seems to me there are a lot of people who would qualify for Medicaid, or for some of out state-run programs, who aren’t on it because either 1) they’re unaware they qualify, or 2) there are so many hassles and so much red tape to get approved that it’s next to impossible for people who may lack the resources to navigate the system to actually do so. A friend of a friend of mine was diagnosed with MS last year, and her symptoms are often severe enough that she can’t work more than part-time (which she does). She is STILL not approved for Medicaid. And it’s draining on her physically and mentally to try to battle these people. Recently she got a new job where benefits are available to her. She’s on the company’s new plan — pre-existing condition and all — no problem. Imagine that.
