Video: Glenn Beck on the media’s suppression of the Van Jones story
posted at 7:44 pm on September 8, 2009 by Allahpundit
A critical fact that shouldn’t be forgotten: It’s not at all clear that the media buried this story simply to help Obama. I tend to agree with Byron York that, if not for their loathing of Beck and populist conservative media, they might have covered this. A little.
The first words of the Times’ story on Jones’ resignation were, “In a victory for Republicans and the Obama administration’s conservative critics. …” One news anchor suggested Jones was “the Republican right’s first scalp.” Other coverage called the Jones affair a victory for Glenn Beck, Fox News, right-wing blogs, and even Sarah Palin, who played no role in the matter.
If you throw in Rush Limbaugh, you have all the bogey-people of the conservative world. To some on the left, including some journalists, denying them a victory was a top priority, no matter what Van Jones had said and done.
There was a day, not too long ago, when the Times and other influential news organizations could kill a story — could deny the bad guys a win — simply by ignoring it. Sometimes they still try. But it just won’t work anymore.
Won’t it? If not for his dalliance with 9/11 Truth, Jones would still be our “green jobs” czar, never mind the communist past and the shilling for Mumia and the “Republicans are assholes” comment and so forth. Watch the second clip below, of the boss talking about “wackjob” science czar John Holdren, to see just how powerless new media is. Jones happened to stumble across one of the few political lines that a leftist can’t transgress; Holdren, a former advocate of forced abortions and mass sterilization, is still safely on the other side. And no one will press Obama on it, of course. After all, not one question — not one — was asked about Jones at today’s White House presser.
Enjoy the czar stuff now because I think Ace is right that Beck is moving on. Next up: The NEA’s propaganda push.

It’s possible that is why they didn’t cover it so much. But it got plenty of coverage, given the majority of Americans couldn’t care less who any of these czars are. They barely care about the cabinet members.
There’s a limit to people’s tolerance for the details of politics.

What else is there to say? He’s just one more in a line of radical racists in the filthy liar’s inner circle. Until folks wake up and realize that the filthy liar isn’t any different that Wright, Jones and all the other unsavory people he associates with on a a daily basis, there really isn’t much more to say.

I think that’s an inaccurate characterization of what he believed “could” happen if we have an environmental catastrosphe on a grand scale.
Granted, from my reading of his scenario he didn’t seem, for me, to be that sickened or disgusted by it; but stating something “could” happen is different than stating that is should.
Bigger fish to fry, it seems, than this one.

It’s clear that the media didn’t cover this to save their own sorry a$$es, as Van Jones was more proof that they are in the tank for The Precedent and are willing to harm the US to get their way. Of course, no one in America should be unaware of this, as we all the media drool over the prospect of releasing sensitive information harmful to America’s security – just to forward their moronic partisanship – but I guess that many still haven’t quite figured that out.
The media is all-in with The Precedent and his band of America-hating marxists. Their propaganda push will not stop, since that would be the end for them. They will live or die with The Precedent and they know it. They refused to cover Van Jones for their own interests, not Precedential interests.

I really get tired of the “Bush did it too” defense for anything that gets controversial for the filthy liar in the White House. When are you Obama supporters ever going to do it without trying to make it all relative.
I personally don’t like the czars concept but the filthy liar has really gone overboard and created a shadow government of loyalists who have not been confirmed. I would argue that the filthy liar should be impeached for doing so- not that it will happen so long as your gal Pelosi is in control- she even refuses to address Charlie Rangel’s corruption by taking away his chairmanship. You just can’t trust liberals and Democrats to do the honest thing.

Nothing is going to happen. I personally think that there is something odd about the filthy liar’s birth (identity of father, circumstances, whatever). It may possibly make him ineligible for the Presidency. But, that is the kind of vetting that has to be done in the primaries, not a full year into the filthy liar’s reign of bad stewardship.
Instead of focusing on the filthy liar, it would be more productive to change the electoral rules to make candidates prove their eligibility to get the party nomination.

O’Reilly’s making a fool of himself with Beck, right now. Bill’s trying to claim that Van Jones was a nobody and Beck was wasting his time. Sorry, I disagree with that reading.
AP has the link. He clearly says those actions “could” come about if we have a major collapse of civilization. Nowhere does he use the first person.
Again, what troubles me about his scenario is that he doesn’t seem to be appalled or disgusted with the possibility. At least not enough for me.
Personally, I don’t see where his scenario – as awful as it it – is that far off. History amply shows that when civilization collapses that human beings can do awful things.
Can not should.
SteveMG on September 8, 2009 at 8:31 PM
Thanks. Lots of fascists running around, for sure. Dems are not naturally with the fascists (as they prefer to have the government directly owning the means of production) but they will certainly settle for it.
Yep. The enemy of my enemy. Anyone who hates America, or the West, is an ally of the left. But it’s not just the hate that draws them together. The left also love all non-Western cultures, just to show how un-Western they, themselves, are.
