NBC commentator: The biggest threat to kids from Obama’s speech is their dumb hysterical parents

Via Hot Air Pundit. Remember this guy? His moment of glory came last summer, on the day Biden was picked for VP, when he hit the airwaves to assure us that Greasy Joe’s many racial gaffes were actually a strength insofar as they proved what a salt-of-the-earth chap he was. Now here he is ready to call DSS on conservative parents for not wanting a guy who built his own cult of personality addressing their kids. I don’t share their concern, but neither do I think it’s nutty to be leery of mainstreaming left-wing politics in public school classrooms. As the boss has said all along, it’s not the speech that’s the worry, it’s what teachers do with The One’s “inspiration” from here.
Exit question: Would a congressional investigation into the president’s expenditure of federal funds for this photo op also be nutty? Or is that okay because there’s a Democratic precedent for it?

Yet more idiocy from the National Barack Channel.
It does indeed ‘take a village’ to raise a child…and it also takes a village idiot to think that the federal government knows jack squat about how to raise a child.

Somebody mentioned it in an earlier comment — I, too, saw inappropriate bias demonstrated by Harwood when he was on as a guest on CNBC. To put it mildly, the guy is a jerk.

You are gracious and kind. Thank you, Esthier. And, in return, may I say that I have long enjoyed reading your comments at this site.

These “conservatives” must not be allowed to communicate with each other. As you can see when they are allowed to communicate with others of their own kind they are able to stay in a perpetual state of agitation.
WTH? is this guy on Wild Kingdom or something? Get that tool off the airwaves! If he doesnt see the need for parental control over our own kids and the instruction/ideas they are exposed to, then he clearly doesnt understand the principles atht made this country great.

Hilarious isn’t it? They feed the very souls who would destroy them. The still make nuclear triggers and reactors for warships.

This is why NBC and MSBNC are oh so popular, just topping the ratings charts they are….
among fascist socialist liberals that is.

There’s no doubt in my mind that the administration is in a “trial balloon” mode given the vast opposition they’ve seen recently; all of which confuses the heck out of them. So they put out the “speech” and the “homework”, then write the speech and revise the homework after they can gage the reaction. I saw the speech- it was fine, no ideological push- at least not anything most high “schoo” students would pick up on. Who knows what it might have been if the reaction wasn’t so loud.
Also, I think the reaction was as loud as it was simply because the majority of folks just can’t trust this guy, and they assume that everything he does right now is an effort to circumvent scrutiny.
BKeyser on September 8, 2009 at 5:15 PM
They can say what they want, people do not trust Barack Obama, getting lectured about why and how they should will not change a thing. It will just piss them off all that much more.
BTW, I bet you money that Obama changed his speech to something bland and boring and all about responsibility blah blah blah.
And I am getting so tired of his references to his childhood in Indonesia. He said he could not afford to go to the American school there and so his Mom had to get him at 4:30 in the morning and all that crap. I am surprised he did not tell the kids he read by lantern light and was a rail splitter.
Obama went to a private school in Hawaii and his stepdad had a good job in Indonesia, they were not peasants working in a rice patty.
Terrye on September 8, 2009 at 5:17 PM
Let’s call all of the opponents of Obama stupid. That is sure to get them to change their minds.
Buford Gooch on September 8, 2009 at 5:18 PM
Given the history of the Democrats politicizing everything from 9-11 to Vietnam to dead soldiers to funerals for their politicians, it’s not a stretch to see the propaganda materials distributed from central command asking kids to reflect on ways they can “help the President” in the presence of their NEA-beholden teachers (one of the largest Democrat con$tituencie$) and raise an eyebrow or several million about what the Democrats think they’re accomplishing by piping in a speech from the cult-leader-in-chief into public schools across the country.
You know what I’d like to see?
And expose on GE and it’s financial ties to the Obama Administration.
I wonder when NBC will get their investigative units on it.
;-)

What these sloppily disingenuous “useful idiots” in the MSM can’t seem to acknowledge – knowingly or unknowingly – is that it’s the messenger that is the problem, not always the message.
Example: When Sheryl Crow suggested that people should use only one square of toilet paper per bathroom visit. As the outrage and ridicule ensued, she responded by insisting it was all just a joke.
Guess what, Sheryl? The “teachable moment” for you from that p.r. disaster was not whether you were or were not joking; the teachable moment was the fact that your reputation – and those of your environmental ilk – was such that millions of reasonably intelligent, fair-minded people actually believed you were serious. That’s how absurd and ridiculous you are deemed.
And so it goes for Obama: His (most likely) watered-down speech to school children was greeted with anger, disgust, contempt, fear, and disdain by so many millions of parents not because of what was most likely going to be in the speech, but solely due to the impression and reactions that have already resulted from his crazy-go-nuts, go-for-broke upending of the American fabric.
Blame yourself, B.O. And, dynamically clueless MSM, keep exposing yourselves as the lying, fraudulent, hypocrisy-laden dung heap that you are. As devastating as the damage is that you have already inflicted on yourselves and your financial bottom line, the pleasure for those of us watching is in the knowledge that you are so incapable of checking yourselves that you will only continue to spiral down the drain into even greater irrelevance and oblivion.

on the frozen tundra of waikiki Barack Obama trudged uphill both ways through the 75 mile an hour winds to get to class at 0430 so mom could teach him about civics in a country he barely remembered…..
my personal fave about his Madrassa con is that his mom and dad wanted him to go native he could have gone to the American colony but his moonbat mom Peace Be Upon Her wanted him Muslim raised.

No, no, ddrintn. That’s not the way to frame it. I’m only trying to bring uplift to dear Norman and the other trolls that hang out here.
(Yes, that’s “uplift” as in “hoist him on his own petard.”)
But, otherwise, fear not, my friend. I’m a troll-eradication specialist. A professional, through and through.
FlameWarrior on September 8, 2009 at 5:24 PM
Thanks! I was looking forward to your “hunt” but it seems Norman was pulling a drive-by on us.
I don’t know him well enough to call him a troll, but that’s certainly troll behavior.

In 1946, Karl Frost, an advertising executive, suggested a simple slogan to the Massachusetts Republican Committee: “Had Enough? Vote Republican!” Frost recognized that these simple words could unite his national party and blame its opponents, who controlled Congress, for causing or failing to solve the many problems facing the country, including meat shortages, economic difficulties and labor unrest. The strategy worked: in 1946, both houses of Congress flipped.

It’s obvious when GE bought NBC thyey got rid of all their archives since they can’t remember that the Dems went crazy with investigations and special hearings regarding Bush 1 speech.
Please will someone just pull the plug on these asshats at NBC News? We await a full accounting from the General Accounting Office and there will be a special hearing on capitol hill with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel and Robert ” Silly Season” Gibbs.
Rush had a great description of Obama and his administration today. Obama is Dean Wormer and his cronies are the idiot so called tsraight laced frat morons. Conservatives are Delta! Do the Alligator!

Yes, indeed. I think the truth is his stepdad did not want to pay for him going to an American school, because he wanted Barack educated in another kind of school altogether. I would not be surprised if the time came that the grandparents decided it was time to take over the boy’s education for fear his mother would turn him into a an antiAmerican commie with a soft spot for radical Islam..it seems they were too late.

Didn’t have to – school decided not to show it back when no one outside the WH knew what was in it. Ironically, that speech still hasn’t left the WH, except in a shredder truck, maybe.

Obama has used children before for his own political benefit, so everyone is right to be weary of him speaking directly to our children. He is unscruplous enough to use children to badger their parents to vote for him. He’s done it blatantly in the past. He’s a master manipulator.

Obama to college students: Time for ‘The Talk’
A reader forwards on an email from the Obama campaign to his .edu email, suggesting he try to bring his parents, as well as “grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins,” on board, and offering tips as to how:
If your family isn’t already supporting Barack, it’s time for you to have “The Talk.”
With so many rumors and misperceptions out there, it’s incredibly important that you sit down with parents or other family members. Tell them who Barack is, what he stands for, and why you’re supporting him.
You may be the only person who can convince them.
Also from the email: “Breaking the ice can be hard. Start by asking if they saw the debate on Tuesday and what they thought about it.”
There’s also a “The Talk” page on Obama’s site, with handy dos and don’ts.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1008/Obama_to_college_students_Time_for_The_Talk.html
And also on Obama’s own website:
Have you had “The Talk” with your parents or family?
Tell us about your experience talking to your family. If you have created a YouTube video, please share the link.

Harwood, just another reason to “not” watch NBC…Obama’s school speech was meant to soften his image…His image was slightly tarnished this summer accusing Americans of being nazi thugs…
Nozzle on September 8, 2009 at 7:31 PM
Good point. It’s not that their kids may be brainwashed because they already have. We all have…unless we were raised by a she-wolf in a cave somewhere.
We have a lot of ills in our society mostly because of these traitors, subversives and usurpers of power. We can see this as a golden opportunity for them to do themselves and their dangerous movement in once and for all. Keep pressuring them, keep squawking, blogging, emailing, protesting, etc. The rest they’ll do themselves in discrediting Marxism. They know we’re here and in great numbers and that worries them.
But, we as a group are partly responsible. We as conservatives have succumbed to many of their programs and promises, have fed at the trough of Socialism, have set aside our morals simply because this is “now” and not “back then”. We have allowed them to confuse ourselves as to what the true meaning of this country and Patriotism are. We have not held those who won our votes accountable as long as we were comfortable and gainfully employed. We dismissed the fruits of education and learning so that they took over academia instead. We have many among us who have bullied the weak, who have called beta types “queers” and “pussies”. We as a group have forgotten our Judeo-Christian values and the truly compassionate nature of traditional America.
So, if these Libtards do fail what then? Do we fall back on an equally oppressive version of ultra-Conservatism? Do we go back to the “it’s all good” mentality? Do we go back to ignoring politics because it’s boring and turn the big game on instead?

Harwood is a tool, no question. He is always butting onto the CNBC set during the trading day to praise The One, his idol no matter what the subject.
It is just sickening. I try to use Bloomberg or Fox Business but frankly CNBC often times moves the market which makes it required viewing for short term investors trying to catch early moves.
It’s a compromise I have to swallow.

So when Obama brings up unnecessary tonsillectomies in a speech, you say that he’s demonizing doctors who are just trying to help people.
But now you’re saying that teachers cant be trusted not to turn America’s kids into a tiny army of Bolsheviks.
Interesting.
Never mind that the system financially incentivizes the tonsillectomies while the teachers get no such incentive.

This is just embarrassing. You think the president has more sway over your kids than you do? Or Hanna Montana for that matter.
tlynch001 on September 8, 2009 at 8:00 PM
As a parent I no more care what anyone thinks of my reasons for not wanting my son in class while Obama gives his speech than I care to argue with a lefty why they didn’t want their kids in class when Bush was giving his speech, and some of my lefty friends DID pull their kids out of class that day.
It’s the parent’s prerogative, and no one else’s.

Howdy from Tejas y’all. Did I hear that the ‘Won’ gave a speech to school kids today?
Well imagine that. The ‘Won’ actually giving a speech. I wonder if he covered the basics like how to hide your transcripts and diplomas.
Of course my children missed the show. According to Harwood, the “dumb hysterical” school admins didn’t want to interrupt their existing curriculum for another episode of the apologizer in chief.
I love this country.
FREEDOM!

Obama missed a huge opportunity with his speech. This was the perfect time to share with the kiddies what classes he took in school, what grades he got, and even what he wrote in his thesis. Instead – he continues to keep that secret from Americans…and the message is “do good in school but remember don’t tell anyone what you did!”
