Kos: The public option is the nutroots’ Waterloo
posted at 9:12 pm on September 8, 2009 by Allahpundit
What they really want is ruinous single-payer, but they’ll accept a road-to-ruin public option in lieu of that — in the name of compromise, mind you. He’s still pushing the idea that last year’s election was an electoral endorsement of big-state Hopenchange, despite the tanking polls over the last month, despite the fact that the public is lukewarm at best about a public option, despite the resounding predictions even from lefty pollsters — including Nate Silver, speaking at Yearly Kos — that The One’s insane expansion of government will mean major pick-ups for the GOP next year. Oh well. Listen to him, Barry! Public option or bust, baby.

The left doesn’t care what the consequences for their own political fortunes are. They are political suicide bombers. They know they’re going to die. They just want to take as much of America with them as they can. They just hate America with all their hearts and want it gone. Their psychosis has kicked into overdrive, now. Get ready, folks.

Any public option which stifles competition is a no-go. Then again, the moment the government introduces money into anything, competition vanishes.
Every Government contract passing my way has a clause that says that the Government is entitled to the lowest price offered for the contracted service.
I’m sure it will be the same for healthcare, which means that pro-bono work will vanish.

sven10077 on September 8, 2009 at 9:22 PM
They realize this perfect storm of holding Congress and having a radical racist liar in the White House is a fleeting opportunity. They are pushing as hard as they can because they know that their agenda will ultimately be pushed back but there is no way that it will be impossible to go back to the current healthcare system once the public option is in place and private insurance is destroyed.

America-loving patriots, we need to start confronting people like Markos Moulitsas Zúniga at the grocery store, at gas stations, at church, malls, etc. They need to feel our anger. They need to know that their version of a perverted constitution is not OURS. We need to seek them out, and denounce them. In the words of Obama, “WE NEED TO GET IN THEIR FACES”.

I disagree with both analogies. I’d suggest that the public option is the nutroots’ march on Moscow in 1812. A flawed strategy which ultimately ends short of its goal with a decimating retreat from the field.

Something like that showing anything but utter contempt for the military of any sexual orientation? Not bloody likely. Liberals don’t support the troops.
highhopes on September 8, 2009 at 9:28 PM
The only way “everything will be fine” is if everyone who is satisfied with the current system as is, or is looking for minor tweaks but no major overhaul, forgets what it is like once the country transitions. I doubt that’s going to happen and you’re going to have a lot of PO’d individuals looking to roll it back.
The Left likes to point to other countries as examples of satisfaction with government-run health care, but the problem is that those other countries never had our health care to begin with.

Markos doesn’t know what specifically he wants. He has no idea of anything in any piece of legislation passed over the past 25 years.
If the Republicans and conservatives are for it, he’s against. If they’re against, he’s for it.
He came up with a brilliant internet site and idea on how to connect people politically and has milked it for the past half decade. Give him that.

I always thought the Bond villain lackeys were like the Red Shirts which, in this case, is great.
In fact, Obama is just a higher ranking Red Shirt. That’s great, too. But, Bond had to go through a lot of lackeys to get to the top man. Nothing changes until Soros, Peter Davis, and many more are “Van Jonesed.”

I believe that they think that once in place everything will be fine, that voters will get over it. I believe they are very wrong, but we will see I guess.
You cannot blame them – after all Social Security, Medicare were pretty much done this way – the conservative opposition was non existent and they meekly surrendered to more Government intervention in their lives.
Take Social Security for example – who was the last conservative politician who basically called this a Ponzi scheme and proposed to remove the mandate on it ?
answer: no one – as much as people rant about SS, Medicare, they shut up when they get their monthly checks in the mail.
This has only emboldened the liberals to think that conservatives dont really know what they want and if something is shoved down their collective throats they will eventually surrender.
In fact the Tea Party activists are the ONLY CONSERVATIVE movement that has so openly stood up for what it believes in, no matter how powerful the left is – something that HAS NEVER HAPPENED in conservative politics.

Pickett’s Charge, last charge of the Guard up the center, and Napoleon’s March on Moscow all have the same thing in common–they were the culminating point of the attack (per Clausewitz); an attack that so weakens the attacker so that he is now open to counterattack by a defender who has husbanded his resources.
