Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the Week?
posted at 9:00 am on September 6, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
I finally got around to getting the weekly poll together after procrastinating for a while this weekend, but thankfully not as long as Obama has on planning ObamaCare. It’s easy to understand how he’s forgotten to get around to it. Heck, his efforts to reach out to stoodents pewpils schoochildren kids kept him from figuring out when they would actually be in the classroom. I guess it’s best to actually read schedules before amending them. The President could just hire a consultant to review these things, but that public/private interaction could be the worst thing in the world … or the best … depending on whom Obama’s addressing and why.
Previous “winners”:
- Getting all wee-wee’d up
- The “public option” is just like the Post Office!
- We’re going to listen to other people’s ideas, except that people who disagree should shut up
- Snitch Central for ObamaCare dissenters
- Rushing legislation bad in 2004, essential in 2009
- Obama opines on Gates arrest without “having all the facts”
- Obama salutes the Ghana flag
- Obama jokes about Alaska sale with Russians
- Obama uses union and DNC plants at health-care town hall
- Obama plants a question on Iran with HuffPo
- Change in Iran coming because “Obviously, after the speech I made in Cairo…”
- Flashing his soles to the camera while talking to Netanyahu
- “If you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.”
- “We can no longer afford to spend as if deficits do not matter and waste is not our problem.”
- Siccing Tim Geithner and Charlie Rangel on tax cheats
- Phony Churchill quote on torture throws Grandpa under the bus
- Torture probe flip-flop
- Obama covers up IHS while quoting Jesus
- Austrian is a language?
- Obama bows to the Saudi king
- 1908 Model T got better gas mileage than today’s SUVs

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Juan Williams is calling for insurance-industry competition through the government option in an industry in which the Democrats will not support competition.
WTF?

Im going with the schoochildren …but it is soo hard to choose!

I think even Juan knows he’s the smallest mind in the room.

Don’t worry, Rush, the Boss, Sean, & others each still have their faces on lots of dartboards.
jgapinoy on September 6, 2009 at 10:51 AM
I agree. I’m left to looking to Doug Schoen and Mara “Evil Eye” Liasson as the only sensible liberals that Fox News invites on the broadcasts.
Oh, and that Pat Caddill (sp?) who on Beck this past week admitted that his Democratic party has been hijacked by radicals.
BuckeyeSam on September 6, 2009 at 10:52 AM
We should have figured somebody would cry Raaaaciiiist! this morning.

Bwahahahaha, Juan Williams?! LOL, so much for the “above the fray” on racism. “I see your true colors shining through, that’s why I love you, so don’t be afraid to let them show, your true colors, beautiful ooooh like a rainbow.”

When Michael Savage was being attacked by CAIR no one came to his defence. He rarely gets credit for being ahead of the curve. Our local AM station took him off a while ago so I was unaware he was onto Jones. Thanks for giving credit where its due.

Pat is a “old school” Moderate Democrat who, while you won’t agree with him, will sit down with you and have a reasonable discussion. He’s been kicked to the curb by today’s Democratic Party.
kingsjester on September 6, 2009 at 10:54 AM
I donate to MS and listen to him every chance I get. This latest thing with him being banned in the UK only makes him more popular, IMHO.
VegasRick on September 6, 2009 at 10:58 AM
Savage is over-the-top at times and I hate how he cuts off even the good callers, but the UK banning him from setting foot on their shores was disgraceful. I’m a little disturbed that people like Beck, Rush, and Sean didn’t stick up for him.
Sure there are some pretty big fish to fry here in the States at the moment, but it’s not a stretch to believe that once Savage is targeted, the rest of the prominent voices of conservatism in this country can’t be far behind.
Doughboy on September 6, 2009 at 11:02 AM
Savage is the #3 talk radio show nationally, so he obviously has a large following. Yet a station dropped him since Obama’s British Buddy illegally banned Savage alongside the world’s worst criminals from entering the once “Great” Britain.
European Union legally protects the Rights of Free Speech as does our Constitution; and the authorities wrote acknowledgment that Michael Savage never promoted or condoned violence. Yet Obama has and still does to this day. Ban Obama, if anyone, from entering “Great” Britain on those charges trumped up against Savage.
And to all those friends of Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, Levin and Malkin et.al. of which I am, it’s either all for one and one for all, or remains every man for himself as the quid quo pro status quo modus operandi here.

Of course they’d target the most abrasive voice, the sharpest sword that cuts the deepest into the Left corruption, the personality who has been at it “forever” in modern culture.
My peeve is against prissy weenies who consider Savage beneath their dignity to protect, as if these weenies are “better” than Michael Savage, “smarter” than Michael Savage. As if these weenies know best how to sell themselves as “voices of moderation”, APOLOGISTS enabling Obama’s government, so as to maintain their own Noonanesque fashioned prestige on their totem pole network. Beware birds of a feather that allow civil liberties to be squandered like water off a duck’s back in order to preen themselves a bit longer as the impending storm encroaches. Trust once lost, whether by betrayal or “mere” self interest, is never found the same again.

bluegrass on September 6, 2009 at 11:21 AM
Are conservatives cannibals, too? Is this 86t united “conservative boycott” a gag order to effectively pirate Michael Savage’s career and usurp his audience?
The longer the silent treatment, the more it looks that way. “Excommunicated” by silent hypocrites casting their first stones at the prescient prophet calling upon America from the wilderness to repent of corruption and adhere to our Constitution, our supreme law of the land.
Yesterday the 4 temperamental paths to God were mentioned. Not everyone adheres to the PC path. John the Baptist was NOT politically correct. Not everyone is like John the Baptist. But just listen to all those smart@ss clucking tongues wagging that he got what was coming, long past due, what he deserved when his head was presented to whores on a silver platter in order to enable sexual perversions by the royals.
It’s time for Beck et.al. to say something good about crotchety ol’ Michael Savage who hits the nail on the head when they’re too feint of spirit to do anything but lap up the benefits of his work as their own accomplishments. That would make them sore to have the tables reversed. We all witness their choruses of “I did this, I did that” First Song. Get over the small feeeeelings, pleeeeeease.

It doesn’t matter what the MSM networks do anymore. Only the choir is tuning in/reading, and half of them are asleep.
The facts-and-truth squads have moved to different venues. So has the majority of the people who are seeking the facts and the truth.
Yoop on September 6, 2009 at 11:51 AM
I salute Glenn Beck for shining the light of Truth on the commie Van Jones. But keep your sleeves rolled up people, there’s still plenty of work to do…
And Chucky Johnson’s bashing of Glenn (along with the bashing of Christians) is what lead to my personal exodus from LGF. Gotta love Hot Air! :)
Battlecruiser-operational on September 6, 2009 at 11:52 AM
We need to let Glenn Beck know we have his six, what ever that might entail or require.
We need to let the management of Fox News know that we have Glenn Beck’s back.
Let’s help the “Color of Change” get all wee-weed up. How can that be moved along?
Yoop on September 6, 2009 at 11:57 AM
Good advice. Strike while the iron is hot. And Holder has corrupted our entire Department of Justice, our means for justice.

The truest expression of Bama was the move to bring schoolkids into the healthcare debate and anoint himself as the person they should most listen to.
The failure to check out when schools started is typical of the genuine streak of ineptitude in his cadre, but the best look into his soul, who the man is, was the speech.
The fact he got such intense, unaticipated blow back and had to revise the “ciriculum” further exemplifies his preoccupation with himself and his agenda. It is not tone-deafness as much as ignorance of his limits…a combination of ignorance about the world outside of political machinations in IL and DC politics, a totally unrealistic self-approval rating, self-indoctrination in Marx and Alinsky and, finally, resorting to the most effective trick the Bama pony has, his only trick and acoomplishment: oratory.
In playing that trick, he has to find a new, uncritical audience. Adults are tiring of his blather, and fewer believe it. Kids are not so overexposed and are not able to think through as critically as adults. Bama needs dumb people, people who don’t know any better or fellow travelers to make his plans work.
He is losing badly with adults. What to do, when all you can do is talk? Find a new audience.
And one cannot discount the marxist tactic of miseducating kids from the start so they are useful to the state, above all. His fellowship with Billy Ayers taught him that.

My vote went to “Obama finally getting around to unveiling his plan on ObamaCare”. He’s finding out that 53% does not a mandate make, and had been taking his popularity for granted. Now that it’s gone, with no recovery in sight, what may have been pushed through without a murmur is now going to be scrutinized by more and more people (and not just pundits). The cart was firmly put before the horse on Health
CareInsurance Reform, and no matter their political stripe, Americans do not like having their trust violated. As for Van Jones’ departure, I wonder what the rest of Becking Order is. On second thought, let’s make it a surprise to the administration. It kind of reminds me of the Bush 43 administration. The left’s direct attacks on Bush weren’t working fast enough for them, so they picked off the likes of Karl Rove, Alberto Gonzales, Tom Delay, et al. to weaken him.
Left Coast Right Mind on September 6, 2009 at 1:59 PM
I have to say this much, that the reason why the radical socialist left has been so emboldened over the last year can directly be attributed to how bad the Bush presidency was.
Now, because the radical left bullsh*tted enough moderates into getting them to vote for a real radical leftist scumbag the congress feels empowered to push through the most anti American, socialist, communist crap they can come up with.
It’s time to pull that frayed thread and make this fall apart so we can steer our way back to sanity. It’s not going to happen as long as we have these corrupt anuses holding office. At the same time, the MSM needs to be crushed and brought back to a neutral position where they actually report news, not liberal fascist talking points.
Sounds like a revolution to me….

Next week: “Giant statues and billboards of Obama going up in every city in America!”

I’d vote for the “non-vetting” of Van Jones, but it’s not an option. (Of course we know he was vetted and that’s why he was a close advisor to the President!)

The more I think about it, the more I realize the important role parents have in safeguarding their children from the thoughts and influences of our day. My recent experience confirms this; my nephews are playing “Obamonopoly” allowing for a stimulus pack. These, are future leaders…God help us.
