I can’t wait for someone to invent a time machine so I can go back about 60 years and start living a truly good life, surrounded by people with a f***ing brain in their heads.

I must say, regardless of all this insignificant arguing, this video is a spectular little quip. It says what we all mean, it says it confidently and with respect. Let’s be honest, this country has never known famine. It’s never known true hardship, because we’ve always had not only fertile land, but people willing to stand up and help. People who were never FORCED to help. But people who knew that their success was a blessing, and wanted to help others because of it. Unfortunately, it seem that success is now a crime, while need, on the other hand, is a moral virtue. It’s funny, America is supposed to be the place where you can come and rise, where you can work hard, no matter who you are or where you come from, and be a success. But be careful, if you are too succesful, well, we are going to go ahead and take it, and give it to people who aren’t. After all, success is a crime, right? Other people need it more, right? Screw life liberty and property. You will keep what I tell you you can keep. You can work hard? Well, others can’t, they need help. From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

Trolls? You mean people like “Bleeds Blue”? Haven’t come across him in awhile. However, I’m sure he’s still out there.
He isn’t too dumb. AnninCA only shows up when the topic is health-care reform, she’s got some babble, and for some strange reason, always endorsing the feds involvement, as if it will cure her personal woes. She’s hot on the subject.
SimpleSimon is easily quashed, as is Hottieinthehouse, unless they’ve both been banned. I don’t know who’s left any more.
Oh yeah, Dave Drywall still lurks about. Pops up for no particular reason I can think of. Overall, all trolls, pretty scarce.

History 101 (not kidding — i finished my major, just need credits), and History of Counter Terrorism

blatantblue on September 6, 2009 at 12:04 AM

BB:

For quick, passing grades~

History 101:

Herodotus begat Procopius (who begat Hegel who begat Nietzsche who begat Spengler who begat Toynbee who begat the Durants who begat Willy Cuppy, where history ends) and a quick study of his “Secret History” should be intriguing enough to create some relevant parallel to a modern regime [cough*hussein*cough], and its attempt to control the details of an acceptible politcial reality.

Counter Terrorism-

The Hashishin (“assassins“) formulated the “modern” historical basis of “terrorism“, and every reponse should be as effective: trace them to their strongholds and burn them to the ground.

Expand and enjoy!

One of the interesting things about our history that most don’t realize, is that England pretty much left the American Colonies alone for the first 150 years. They didn’t make enough to really tax… or really defend… then the economy started to take off as more settlers arrived, and the French were gaining influence…

Suddenly, England got invovled… and sent troops… then decided to tax us to support the troops… then the French responded, and next thing you know its the French/Indian war.

Because of that war, they sent MORE troops, and raised taxes even more… which eventualy led to the Revolution.

Soooo… it could be argued that the American culture, which led to our country, pretty much started with places like Jamestown…

Don’t condone the statement, as its technicly inaccurate… and could have been said better, but change “country” to “culture” and you would be pretty accurate.

Sir, I had asked for a history lesson on Nazi religion. I never did give a definintion of liberal though. I did read an article not too long ago that claimed that liberalism was born in the conservative mass of the ’60′s. Think liberalism then was kinda like anti-hippy… I only read these things though, before all the books are burned. I’m too young to live thought the experience.

disillusioned on September 6, 2009 at 1:25 AM

Well, as you have mentioned others have supplied you with historical facts/claims/&c about the Nazi history. There are many quotes where Hitler himself showed disdain towards Christians. He viewed Christianity as something that weakened Christianity. Some have said that Hitler dabbled in the occult. This is up for debate, as far as I know; however, there were many pagan elements to the theories in Nazism.

As far as politics goes, Nazis and their “comrades” in Italy were of the socialist (i.e. leftist) school of thought. They broke from their “communist” (Marxist) brethren to the east. Hitler believed in a middle class revolution whereas the Marxist wanted to have a revolution for the lowest class. Nazism was all about strong centralized government (as were the Italian Fascists); however, unlike the communists, they believed in working with the corporations instead of completely taking them over. This, is far from American Conservatism. At best is may be seen in some European Conservative movements, but the Nazi’s economic and social policies for that matter are far from Goldwater ideals.

As far as liberalism goes, as my understanding goes, Classical Liberalism is nothing like Modern American Liberalism. Classical Liberalism would probably resemble more or less the modern Libertarian movement (of the right – think of the neo-liberal Friedman) whereas Modern American Liberalism resembles the FDR and Wilson Progressive movement (even add Teddy Roosevelt).

disillusioned

Just a thought….perhaps you should figure out what exactly you think a government, a people, law, and even economy should be. It is absolutely more than acceptable to ask questions, as a matter of fact, I think that it is wonderful…but, the answers are not going to be found on a blog site. Reading history, political science, economics, and even philosophy will perhaps give you better answers to the questions you seek. Giving stale arguments to those who are here to discuss, well, that’s not the best way to learn. IF that is truly what you are looking for. No one here is going to give a more defined or complete answer than one you can find for yourself.

Hitler created a “German Christian Church” to supplant Christianity. The Lutherans were the established Church in most of northern and eastern Germany and Hitler, an Austrian raised as a Catholic, signed a Concordat with the Vatican giving the Catholic Church the status of a state church in the Catholic areas of Germany in Bavaria and the Rhineland.

Meanwhile the SS was creating its own pagan faith out of crackpot theories and Teutonic myths

You’re killing me!

I..c…ca….can’t…breath. St..sto…stop it!

Saltysam on September 6, 2009 at 3:26 AM

Salty…What a FUd day. Crashed my ‘puter at work. Fixed it, then crashed it again. Got off too late to buy beer. Got home and found the back door into the garage locked and my key on the other side. Woke up the Mrs, got an ear full, stepped on the cat, then click and find two new trolls had already been punched out by HotAirHeads. To top it off I have to be back at work in six hours.

I sure hope there aren’t any trolls in my lane of traffic in the morning.

You can’t even get a cliche right.

It’s: “I’m young at heart”

Not: “maybe”

And, to follow a cliche up with “something I’m not ashamed of”, reeks of self doubt.

I am young at heart. Practice.

Saltysam on September 6, 2009 at 3:21 AM

I’m not one without self doubt. Cliche my ass. Honest answers may confuse or somewhat disorient commenters here.

disorient commenters here.

Funny, I had one of those days yesterday. I dubbed Sept. 4 2009 a personal Black Friday.

I’m off to work in the morning myself.

Thought I’d troll patrol for awhile. Not many, and what few I’ve come across have all dressed out under 20 lbs.

I think I’ll just roll it up and catch a little shut eye.

Good night all you mainstream liberty lovers!!!

G’nite, Salty….

For the trolls…..tomorrow beware the F-150 in the fast lane tomorrow morning. You’ll know I’m coming by watching for my always on left blinker.

Jamestown, located on Jamestown Island in the Virginia Colony, was founded on May 14, 1607.

It pretty much started the American dream…

I love this video, right up to that last line.

Don’t try to build a new country. Make the old one work. It has for over 400 years.

I’m sorry to be picky, but I don’t like that last line. I wish it were clipped. For many, it has to be explained, and any explanation doesn’t really fit. We haven’t been “a country” for over 400 years, not even 250 yet. I understand the We were colonies before the Revolutionary War, and not “a country.” Maybe I’m being too stuck on literal. Sorry.

Other than that, I think this is an extraordinary video, and want well circulated, even if I have to bite my tongue about the last line.

Has anybody thought of an analysis of the minimum wage being raised and its effect of trolls?

Sapwolf on September 6, 2009 at 6:35 AM
