I don’t think she means this in the molon labe/“pry it from my cold dead hands, sucka” sense but rather the “be man enough to act like the thief that you are” sense. Which, judging from the crowd reaction, is a pretty popular sense these days.

Health insurance is really wealth insurance as Rush deftly points out.

My car is insured by my car insurance.
My home is insured by home owner’s insurance.
My wealth, not my health, is insured by “health” insurance.

No one can insure his health as we never know what tomorrow will hold. All I can do is insure my money and possessions from loss if I’m really sick or badly hurt.

Please… this is really pathetic.. There is a reason that there is automatic witholding of taxes – your Government can rob money straight out of your paychecks without you having ANY power to stop this theft – infact the money that you earn, FIRST and foremost goes to the Govt, courtesy of automatic withholding of taxes – unless you own your business or are getting paid in cash.

And pray, which liberal came up with this wonderful idea of withholding taxes automatically from your paychecks ?? If your answer is… wait for it… Milton Friedman, the irony of the situation is too horrible.

The lady is surely a libertarian/conservative but i will bet you my bottom dollar she does not know how the father of modern conservative school of economics came UP with this idea while working for the Treasury Department during WW2.

The SINGLE WORST IDEA that came from a conservative that directly helped the statists was automatic withholding – the lady can wave the 20$ bill all day long, she does not seem to understand that theft can happen smoothly in the form of an automatic deduction from her paycheck with her employer acting as the tax collector for the Govt.

Automatic withholding is a direct attack on an individual’s property rights – you dont get to see your own money first unless the Govt has taken its moolah.

There used to be a time when the IRS had to wait till tax day to get its ENTIRE TAX collection from an individual as a lump sum – that has been removed thanks to the great Friedman – i appreciate him for what he did in the area of economics BUT he is directly responsible for enabling big Government in a truly monstrous way.

-have a system, in which people are constantly denied their needed surgery because the hospital doesn’t have anymore beds or equipment
-deny someone access to potentially life saving drugs because the gov’t has deemed them too expensive
-allow people to live in perpetual pain, because you don’t have the resources to fix their arthritis
-to have someone come into a hospital for treatment, but neglect them enough so that they catch a deadly infection
-to allow someone to wait months to receive an MRI, with a possible brain tumor growing each and everyday.
-to allow the old and sick to slowly STARVE to death, despite the concerns of the family, because the bureaucrats have decided that the patients are beyond saving.

And for those who think we spend too much money on healthcare–
We may spend massive amounts of money keeping people ALIVE, but I rather do that and be in debt, than allow good people to reach their ends before their time, and consequently allow them to spend their final years suffering in pain.

I’ve been to Asian countries where’s its clear that infrastructure is not a priority. Poor sanitation (rubbish all over the streets), terrible air and drinking water, terrible roads and obviously poor people/orphans weaving in and out of traffic begging. All these things lead to other types of chaos, 5 car lanes on 3 lane roads etc… Culturally things develop to such an extent that people learn to accept less civil living conditions. To put things mildly.

The only nice parts of town are in newer housing developments where commercial developers have ensured that the area looks nice to suit the businesses and residents. But its almost silly as these places make up a small oasis, there’s no escaping the more unpleasant majority of these cities. Now these places are taxed I understand so I know taxes in and of itself is not the answer, its what is done with it.

I think there are a lot of invisible pleasures we have in an advanced Western society that people might take for granted. The Trash man coming by weekly to pick up out rubbish. Regulators that make sure our air is safe to breath, water is safe to drink, roads we drive on and the toys we buy are safe etc… The SEC making sure its safe to invest in the stock markets etc… Its only really seeing how bad things get in some 3rd world countries that I’ve come to see this.

This is a highly simplistic view of things.. I am not trying to say that there is no value to these regulations.. but they are almost always REACTIVE to the previous fraud.. and pose enormous restraints even on normal activity.

Anyone with a cursory understanding of SOX would remember that.

You do not know me, you do not know what I contribute privately in time, money and materials. I follow this scripture. Do you?

I WILL NOT be forced to take care of someone else that is too lazy to care for themselves. I’m talking about career welfare participants – generations of welfare participants. I willingly give a helping hand to someone down on their luck, but I expect them to work hard to change their circumstances. I will always willingly help the children whose circumstances are beyond their control. I will always willingly help the elderly who have paid their dues to society and now need a helping hand. I WILL NOT help someone with their hand out because they think it’s their right to be supported by someone else. I pay for my health insurance, I WILL NOT have more money come from my paycheck to pay for someone unwilling to work or pay for their own.

To the libs here, the problem isn’t social programs per se. Conservatives of all stripes have always involved themselves with charity to one degree or another.

No, it’s about wealth redistribution, where YOU, some nameless faceless person with an opinion, get to decide what I do with my salary to the point where you are seriously impacting our quality of life. For some it will be, decide if they have any descretionary income whatsoever, or even cut into the lean. Which decides if we eat when we retire. If our kid gets shoes. With healthcare being so expensive (no matter who is lying to you and telling you that it isn’t), you will be shoving a whole host of people into an income area where they were able to take care of their business, now might not be able to with the resultant governmental control over their lives.

It’s about not stopping with the greed for your ideas. Think that we’re not paying ENOUGH now? Think that our debt/deficit isn’t big enough? You haven’t figured out how to pay for WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN SPENT. Did you notice the economy? Did you notice the fact that we’re still paying for two wars? Did you notice any of that? Do you care how this gets paid for? Do you care if you leave it for your kids, or is it only about what you can get now for yourself? And you call others ‘selfish’?

But this isn’t just about money, it’s about a life philosophy. There are a whole host of us out here who actually believe in personal freedom. Who think that they get to decide how they live their lives, just like you get to decide for yourself. When did it change that YOU get to decide what MY life values are?

You don’t. It doesn’t matter what the values are, you get to decide with your vote, only who fixes the potholes. It was never meant for you to get to vote to decide what goes on between my ears, and force me to participate in your social engineering utopian agenda.

Sorry. It’s not your place. Literally I mean that the way that it sounds. You are free to think ‘she should live THAT way’. Think on! What you are not free to do is to TELL ME to live in a particular way and then force me through governmental intervention to support it.

Kenneth Gladney, a 38-year-old conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room of the St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was waiting to be treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face that he suffered in the attack. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack started.

“It just seems there’s no freedom of speech without being attacked,” he said.

Aren’t liberals always talking about how intelligent,open minded,and non-violent they are.

Didn’t we hear for over 8 years how “dissent was patriotic” while they ran around with their “Bush is Hitler”
and “Bush Assassination” signs and speeches.

I caught the last two minutes of NPR’s Morning Edition, Sunday:

(“Host Liane Hansen speaks with Richard Trumka, secretary-treasurer of the AFL-CIO, about the state of labor unions in America.”)

Hansen said that the Obamacare plan is losing momentum, that the people don’t want government in their health insurance. (She sounded a little apologetic.)

Trumka replied with something like, That’s funny. Sixty-one percent of the people are currently getting government healthcare through Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA. And they don’t want the government in their healthcare?

I yelled at the radio hoping Hansen would hear me and send him a hardball question for follow up. Something like, Yeah, but the programs are losing money or But nobody likes the quality of care or bureaucracy.

But it didn’t happen.

Then she pointed out that Trumka is running for union president.

Since the unions have a much better health insurance than I do (self employed), what’s in it for them to have a one-payer system? Other than most unions have, in my opinion, an entitlement attitude that goes way over the top.

BTW: is 61 percent a real number?

However, that does not give you the right to judge conservatives, invoking Jesus’ name, so harshly.

You may want to look in the mirror and ask what ideology you should really not be standing for. Under Obama’s “health” reform, you would be one of the first to be denied expensive treatment and medicine, as you are almost past being a productive member of society, with your irreversible disease and age. Does that not disturb you at all? Do you think your liberal blogging would add more “value”, and buy you treatment that helps to enhance your quality of life?

Oh wait, you’re a federal employee. Moot point! How handy for you!

Yeah!!!! My favorite part of the Bible is where Jesus marches on Rome and demands that Caesar punitively tax half the population to establish a health insurance exchange.

LOL ! Remember these are the very same people who would incessantly talk about the WALL OF SEPARATION BETWEEN CHURCH AND STATE !

I am sure Jesus will be none too pleased with abortions or America’s divorce rate, crime and any number of sorry/terrible things that any one can think about. I am also pretty sure that Jesus would not be for publically funded abortions or for thinking about embryonic stem cell research in such a casual manner.

Jesus would also not be too pleased with people not respecting the Sabbath…and watching NFL on Sundays……

But, I digress.

Here’s the thing – i am not Christian, btw.. But isnt there a Day Of Judgement for every one according to the Christian faith.

If I am considered “selfish” and dont agree to coercive taxation to achieve the noble goals of universal health care, would I not have to face God on Judgement Day?

Liberals, lets have a deal – Why dont we allow God to judge me as to how well I have served/not served my fellow human beings ?

Why are you liberals usurping the role of God, passing judgement on your fellow citizens after WHINING constantly about the separation of Church and State ? and asking those very same citizens to not impose their religious beliefs upon you ??

For all those liberals who want to talk about “What would Jesus do?”, all I can say is BRING IT ON.

One thing that is very clear about government’s involvement in “benevolent” programs is that for the most part, the government has no soul or empathy, unlike an individual who is making benevolent decisions or gestures of charity or kindness. Instead it runs on rules, laws and has little motivation to go beyond the minimum requirements of service.

It is a mistake to remove ourselves from Jesus’ mandate to help the helpless, and assume that the government will do it for us.

Just as it is up to us to roll up our sleeves and oppose Obamacare, it is up to us as individuals to love our neighbor, feed the hungry, help the orphan and widow. We can do that to “the least of these” in our own neighborhoods.

BTW, I admit I don’t live up to my own admonition the way I should.

Okay. let’s try this again.

Look up that verse and note who he is speaking to. Here’s a clue: it is only those who are believers. He is NOT saying this to the Roman government. He is NOT saying this to people outside of the THEOCRACY which follows YHWH. In fact, he many only be saying it to *his* own followers.

Therefore, it does NOT apply to people who are NOT believers. So is it because of YOUR failure to heed his commandment that you try to impose it on people TO WHOM IT DOES NOT APPLY? You do NOT have the right to impose the command YOU are supposed to obey on others.

Reminds me of one of Hitler’s minions. Wasn’t there a Nazi general that had a lot of responsibility for the death camps,, but was queasy at the sight of blood?? I seem to remember something about one of them,, an SS Officer,, maybe Himmler, can’t remember,,, had been responsible for the death of millions but nearly fainted when he visited a death camp.
No,, he has not the stomach to come down and steal your money in front of you,,, but he’ll feel fine about it when he gets back to DC. It’s so much easier to rationalize it all back there. The victims are all faceless.

When California 23rd District Representative, Lois Capps was asked “What part of the Constitution gives Congress authority to pass National Healthcare Legislation”, Capps responded; “Life Health, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
If anyone didn’t catch this, Capps misquoted the Declaration of Independence; “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
When a U.S. Representative CANNOT distinguish between the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, you KNOW this country is in trouble.
