More Van Jones: A Reverend Wright moment?

posted at 10:12 am on September 4, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Thanks to the work done by Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit, an army of Davids has begun scouring the Internet to find more about Barack Obama adviser Van Jones and his bent towards 9/11 Trutherism.  Hot Air reader Geoff A digs out this nugget from 2002 at the first anniversary of 9/11 in San Francisco, when Jones appeared at the Embarcadero for a protest.  Here’s the description, which sounds familiar to anyone who followed the Obama presidential campaign (emphases mine):

# Wednesday, Sept. 11, 5:30 AM – 7:30 PM
ALL-DAY SEPT. 11 PEACE GATHERING
Justin Herman Plaza, Embarcadero at Market Street
Join us in commemorating the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, and envisioning a
world free of war and violence with a full day of art, culture, spirit,
politics, and words of hope. 5:30 AM Buddhist Peace Service
12 Noon Break Bread for Peace Lunch Program
5:30 PM Concert w/Holly Near, Michael Franti, Ram Dass and others
peace [at] globalexchange.org http://www.unitedforpeace.org
5:30 AM Buddhist Peace Service Led by the San Francisco Zen Center
(impact time at the World Trade Center)
12 Noon -1:00 PM Break Bread Lunch Program Music and words of
truth from diverse communities that have experienced violence
1-3pm United My Ass! http://www.truth-now.com
If terrorism is a form of warfare, and war terrorizes, then what
exactly is a war on terror? got freedom? God ‘Less America
5:30 PM Peace Gathering & Concert
Performers and presenters include:
Michael Franti, Holly Near, Ram Dass
Van Jones, Medea Benjamin, Dance Brigade
Sat Santokh Khalsa, Guru Singh, Rabbi Michael Lerner
Goapele, New Soul Singers, and others!

“God ‘Less America”? Sounds a little like this, doesn’t it?

Note, too, the URL on the event: truth-now.com is now something apolitical, but using the Wayback machine, one sees the incoherent political manifesto that was posted there.

Who were the presenters besides Jones?

Perhaps Jones can argue that he was invited to provide ideological balance to the proceedings, but that seems as unlikely as his statement that he didn’t read the 9/11 Truth petition before signing it.  He has been deeply immersed in the paranoid-conspiracy movement for years.

Update: Jones also worked on an anti-war underground magazine, although it doesn’t appear to have partaken in the 9/11 truth kool-aid.  It’s really just standard anti-war prattle, and it doesn’t appear to have survived for long.

Update II: Jake Tapper keeps asking questions.

There is another element to this story, the way the fashionable and elites fell over this truther, its says a great deal about the democrat political complex as well as Obama.

Meh, no big deal.

So he thought the federal government was involved in mass murder, conspiracy, and war crimes; wanted to overthrow our electoral system; wanted our leaders arrested for ‘treason’; was an active communist; expressed written support for domestic terrorists, SO FREAKING WHAT?

That was like all the way back in 2004. That was Playstation 2 America. This is Playstation 3 america.

True, but slowly and surely the liberal media is losing its power. They can’t salvage the rancor over healthcare, Palin’s voice is stronger than ever, and Van Jones has been marked and there is no recovery for him. The voices of the people are moving towards drowning out the voice of the media.

In my experience this is typical of Washington. What gets a dangerous man fired is not really what is dangerous about him.

That’s a lot of straws on Obama’s camel.

Jaibones on September 4, 2009 at 10:31 AM

The really cool thing is this …

Obama is afraid of this guy.

Look – put yourself in Ogabe’s shoes here …

First – the guy is a distraction – he’s gotta go – he’s killing the administration every second he remains a part of it.

But …

Van Jones can be a VERY loose cannon. He’s not a stabile individual. He’s a radical. If he’s forced to resign – he’ll go on the offensive to do damage to the Obama administration. What does he know that could do that?

Oh – I’m sure he could explain a lot about the vetting process he went through. I’m sure he could confirm to us that not only did the Ogabe administration know he was a communist – they recruited him because of it. I’m sure he could share a lot of little juicy details about private conversations he’s had with Ogabe.

So firing Van Jones will have to be done delicately – and it’ll come – no doubt – with a “pay off” for him remain silent. No doubt us taxpayers, already paying Van Jones’ salary – will soon be paying for his hush money.

I have it on in the background around a corner. Sadly, Fox has that goofy Andrea Tantarros for the conservatives. More and more, she reminds me of a younger, more ethnic (Greek?), female version of Sean Hannity. I really wish Fox could come up with a better fallback conservative. I say more Jeri Thompson.

Anyway, I’m stunned to see Beckel–who defended Obama to the hilt regarding Obama’s associations with Wright, Ayers, et al.–cave on Jones so easily. He didn’t even put up a fight. In fact, he questioned the vetting process so firmly that it raises the same question for all these other Czars, as well as Valerie Jarrett.

Paging Glenn Beck.

BuckeyeSam on September 4, 2009 at 10:42 AM

There is an old book by Taylor Cauldwell called “Captains and Kings.” It’s written as fiction, but she says in preface that she wrote it in hopes of waking the young people of this country up as to what’s happening within our country. The book was published in early seventy, I believe. I read it while in college in the late seventies. It literally is a script for what is happening. Throughout my live, I’ve seen what she laid out in the book happen little by little, but no one wanted to listen, family and friends, etc.

To think that Obama and his crew care about Van Jones is foolish. They are Van Jones; they want the same things and hate with the same level of hatred as he and his kind do.

If you can get a copy of that book, I encourage you to read it. She breaks it down, and you will be amazed at how on target she was.

Could it be that Obama really believed all the hype and press about himself and he believed (mistakenly) that the American voters gave him a mandate to dismantle the capitalist- and Christian-based USA and remake it into the radical socialist vision of Obama?

Common sense says that no administration would put a person like Van Jones in a position close to the President. That is unless the President wanted and needed the Van Jones-types in positions of power to carry out the Obama tear down and remake America.

With his drop in the polls and the uprising against anything Obama, is Obama taking these longer vacations because he is in shock? Perhaps Obama realizes now he totally misread his reason for being elected. And deep down, in his socialist gut, he can´t be the President of the United States (for a capitalist, democractic, Christian founded country) that the people really want?

Where are the Democrats? Will any Democrat leader come forward to defend Van Jones and tell us of his credentials that he should be in charge of $30 Billion of stimulus?

Will Obama speak on behalf of Van Jones?

It’s un-American to question the motives of the Obama “administration” while they’re crapping on the American flag.

I mean, everyone has to take a dump and on the American flag is just a convenient place for it.

Hey, they’re busy people.

No wonder Obama and the FCC want to get control the airwaves–Beck, bloggers, and informed, curious citizens are searching for facts and exposing everything. I’m very thankful for the people who are fighting against this takeover of our country and blatant Marxist shift.
Somehow, I don’t think Hillary would’ve been as bad as Marxist Obama.

I view the Van Jones Moment as something that has almost nothing to do with Van Jones, but everything to do with Barack Hussein Obama.

Thankfully all the people who ignored the warning signs and exposes during the election are waking up. It’s crazy.

Could it be that Obama really believed all the hype and press about himself and he believed (mistakenly) that the American voters gave him a mandate to dismantle the capitalist- and Christian-based USA and remake it into the radical socialist vision of Obama?

Most definitely yes, his mentality is the true mark of a narcissist, and his psychosis will not permit him to acknowledge the negative side, that there are many who vehemently dislike him and his policies.

Little Boy, Blue
Come blow your horn.

The sheep’s in the meadow
The cow’s in the corn

Where is the Little boy
Who looks after the sheep?

He’s under the haystack
Fast asleep!

“I do hope every single one of Obama’s Czars and Secretaries are given the same once over as Van Jones.”

The only way they will be vetted is by you, the American people – annointing these hangers-on as Czars was Barry’s way of ensuring they got access to the trough and the opportunity to spread his message of socialism.

Want to know about the Czars – many of them anyway – I suggest reading Malkin’s book “Culture of Corruption” – it’s guaranteed to cause sleepless nights as you wonder what’s coming next from this administration that seems hell-bent on destroying America from the inside. . . .
