Krauthammer: Van Jones Truther allegations “devastating”
posted at 8:48 am on September 4, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
What did the White House know about Van Jones’ Trutherism and when did they know it? Charles Krauthammer asks this question and calls the revelation about the Green Jobs Czar “devastating,” much more so than an epithet directed at Republicans that most of us have used at a wide range of people. Does Barack Obama believe that it’s acceptable to have paranoid conspiracists in high-level appointments, or was the White House simply too incompetent to properly research Jones in the vetting process? Because it comes down to those two options, and regardless of what we think of Jones, the blame for him being in the White House falls squarely on Obama (via RedState)
Meanwhile, Jim Hoft, who broke the story originally, finds evidence that this was not just a mistake in not reading the petition, as Jones tried to spin it yesterday. Jones also took part in a rally in 2002 that included some of the Truther conspiracy theories. He’s got screen caps of the rally information and Jones’ endorsement (#6 on the list), but here’s the heart of their protest (emphases mine):
Who created, trained and funded the Al Qaeda Network? What is the relationship between Bin Laden, his family and the Bush family and the Carlyle Group? Why were no fighter planes dispatched to intercept the four hijacked planes on September 11h , in violation of standard procedures? Who actually was in control of the “hijacked planes”? What is the U.S. relationship with Pakistan, and especially with its intelligence service, the ISI? Why did the then director of the ISI have $100,000 transferred to the man whom the FBI now calls the ringleader of the Sept. 11th attacks, and why does the U.S. not pursue this question? Did the CIA have foreknowledge of the attack, who tried to profit with put options on American, United, Merrill Lynch stock just before the attack? Why were the FBI told to not investigate the Bin Laden family links in the US? If the CIA met with Bin Laden last July, why didn’t they try to arrest him? If the US is serious about ridding the world of terrorism, why do we continue to fund and train terrorists? Why are we bombing Afghanistan, when none of the alleged bombers actually came from there, could there be another reason for our presence in that region, like oil? Is the war against Afghanistan illegal? What are Bush’s, Cheney’s and Rice’s connections to the oil industry? What are Bush’s and Cheney’s connections to the drug industry? Why is the evidence being destroyed when an investigation of the World Trade Center collapse is needed? Why seal Presidential records? Why intimidate professors from speaking out against this war? Why has the U.S. military been establishing working relations with the Uzbek military for several years? What other military involvement does the U.S. have in the Central Asian Republics? Why are U.S. military personnel or material assistance going to the Philippines, Indonesia, and Colombia as well? What relationship did various U.S. agencies and their contractors have with the Taliban, either directly or through Pakistani or Saudi agencies or contractors? Why does the U.S. overlook Pakistani drug lords who refine and export half to two-thirds of the world,s heroin despite its avowed determination to rid the world of drugs? Why has the Dept. of Justice stopped its investigation of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International despite its admitted heavy involvement in laundering drug money?
This may not have been an explicitly Truther event, but the kernels of paranoid conspiracy can certainly be found — and were certainly endorsed by Jones.
Van Jones has to go, and for more than just the reason that paranoid conspiracists of this type don’t belong in the White House, and certainly not as a “czar” of anything. Barack Obama will start trying to push the idea that he’s a moderate in order to rescue health-care reform, and reportedly he’s even willing to battle the left wing of the party to do it. No one will buy the idea that Obama is a moderate while he’s employing a man who thinks that George Bush murdered 3,000 people so he could grab oil and poppies from Central Asia. The man who knowingly employs a nutcase as one of his close advisers will look much more like a nutcase than a moderate.
Expect Jones to suddenly discover a desire to spend more time with his family, and soon. I’d guess Jones will be gone no later than Monday, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see his resignation get announced in a “Friday afternoon document dump.”

I’m sorry but it’s too late. This information did not come from the mass media and for the most part they have ignored it.
Krauthammer’s indignation is fine but way late. It’s no more devastating for Charles to ask this than for any of us to ask the same.

I like this. I think this is fantastic. I also see it as an inroad to evaluating the rest of Obama’s motley crew of unelected, unaccountable czars who control much more than green jobs, etc. Again I ask, when is it appropriate to look at the collection of miscreants O has hand selected and make a value judgment on his character?

It is what a community organizer does. If you can not get people to rally to a cause, then you make one up that they will rally ’round.
Can’t get people to rally to the cause to save the snail darter, or delta smelt, they tell them the world is going to end because of global warming.
If they won’t rally to global warming, then trigger a run on a couple of banks, and shout ‘financial Apocalypse’.
If you can’t find a crisis to exploit, then create one, ‘the worst economy in fifty years’. If that doesn’t work then set start some wild fires out in California.
Of course Bush and Cheney plotted to destroy the twin towers because they are politicians and that is what politicians do to get elected. Just look at Obama. See? Everyone does it.
Someone will buy it.

Obama is screwed with this either way. If he fires Communist Jones, it’s just one more example of how inept and amateurish this administration is. If he holds on to him, it’s a “birds of a feather” deal. It takes a Commie to know one..I agree that Krauthammer and the rest of the media find the truther thing that important when it’s not of that importance. Of more importance to me is Obama as a Communist. His mommy was a commie, his daddy was working for the communist Kenyan government and a communist, his adolescent “mentor” Frank Davis was a communist, he sought out Marxist professors at ultra liberal Colombia University, he was a member of a Black Nationalist church with revolutionary communist beliefs, Van Jones as Green Czar, obviously a self avowed Communist, told Joe the Plumber that income redistribution “would be good for everyone”, was an adherent to Saul Alinsky’s communist methods,…..Like Larry the Cable Guy says, “I can do this all day”……That’s the next revelations Beck needs to focus on, Obama’s Communism…Beck is the only patriot with any chutpah to report on this…However I feel a Tsunami is coming for this administration….
adamsmith on September 4, 2009 at 9:06 AM

We know their routine by now. They’ll bury the controversial stories and any bad news will be spun as much as possible in Obama’s favor. And every negative GOP story whether true or not(especially the Palin ones) will by hyped ad nauseum.
Which is why their ratings are in the toilet. I say let them dig their own grave.

And the real reason for the czars becomes seen.
These people would have NEVER gotten thru the SENATE. Thus Obama did an end around to get his wackos in postions of Power. the GOP in the senate needs to call OBAMA on the czars. Make an issue of it. Let the prople know what type of advisors the President has around he. Paint Obama as a radical that has surrounded himself with maxists/commies and wacko’s
Don’t concentrate on Van Jones tie him to Obama and his CZARs that is the issue that will bring Obama further down.

Obama is not the type of man who admits error or willingly exposes weakness. He lies, he rants, he distracts…..that’s his M.O.

Not to diminish your admiration for Beck’s pelotas, he is neither the only patriot with the guts to report on this (Michael Savage is on record LONG before Beck followed course), nor by any means of record is he the first as all this came out as Obama CONTEMPLATED his run for the White House, before he even declared his primary campaign.
See Santa Clara Labor Attorney Stephen Diamond’s research papers for example. And Diamond wasn’t alone as he researched, though he specialized in Obama/Ayers and what ALL details and persons that led to their union to convert the Chicago public education system into THEIR initial authoritarian grassroots base.
That Americans wore blinders which Beck has removed is more to your point.

Might we at least acknowledge that one of the big reasons why Van Jones’ perfidy has been exposed is Glenn Beck? I’ve heard more about Jones from Beck than I’ve seen exposed on any other major news outlet. While Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter and Mark Steyn do good work they don’t have the megaphone that Beck has got all to himself 5 days a week.
Isn’t credit truly due here? If Jones falls he falls because Beck wouldn’t be bullied or distracted. Beck began to sound the alarm and wouldn’t be put off by Jones launching the boycott against Beck’s advertisers.
Olbermann tries to claim the mantle of Edward R. Murrow but in truth he is but a weasel. Glenn Beck has the courage even thought he has no pretensions to being a journalist. Olberweasel has never faced a boycott. Beck may be a rodeo clown but when he finds the truth he digs in and holds on.

Good for adamsmith, and good for Beck. A good strategy. Skip Obama the socialist, and go str8 to Obama the Communist. Brilliant, and plausible.

Hmmm his racial views that whites have no moral compass that’s why they steer poisonous effluence into minority neighborhoods, were acceptable.
His desire to destroy capitalism and redistribute wealth were ok.
His doin time in the pen was not a hurdle to a top advisor slot in the administration.
It’s his kooky belief that Booosh murdered 3000 civilians that was trigger point to oust the Maobama’s unwise choice?

Be interesting to see what Ogabe does here. He does not admit mistakes, asking Jones to resign would mean that he made a mistake in appointing him.
I don’t think he has the capacity to do that. He is in intellectual alignment with Jones on many levels. To shun him is to shun his own beliefs and I don’t think he can do it.
Anyway, it will be interesting to watch.

We don’t want to discount anyone bring the facts to light, especially since the MSM can’t be trusted to do their job. Mr. Beck has the biggest megaphone right now so obviously he is garnering the lion share of the attention.

Krauthammer is such a stiff. But, I love the last question he asks.

They DID vet Jones and they got what they were looking for — another Marxist!

Didn’t Glenn Beck spend a week about this guy? That’s Krauthammer, a day late and a dollar short.
