Wonderful: “Green jobs” czar Van Jones is a Truther

posted at 1:36 pm on September 3, 2009 by Allahpundit

In which Gateway Pundit does the Googling that Obama refuses to do. Although honestly, at this point I think Jones’s hiring is best explained not as a breakdown in vetting but as a goof by Obama to see just how much crap the media will let him get away with. “Hey Rahm — bet you 20 bucks I can get a Truther communist appointed to an environmental oversight position.”

Birthers at the town halls … and Truthers in the White House. Which has gotten more press coverage?

NEW YORK CITY, NY (Oct. 26, 2004) – An alliance of 100 prominent Americans and 40 family members of those killed on 9/11 today announced the release of the 911 Truth Statement, a call for immediate inquiry into evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11th attacks to occur. The Statement supports an August 31st Zogby poll that found nearly 50% of New Yorkers believe the government had foreknowledge and “consciously failed to act,” with 66% wanting a new 9/11 investigation.

Follow the link and you’ll find Jones’s signature the 46th at the bottom. And no, there’s no chance that he was mistakenly added to the list. I’ve been trying to come up with a joke all morning about what sort of leftist lunatic might be next on O’s hiring list, but I simply can’t top “Truther communist.” Congratulations, Barry: You’re now parody-proof.

When the GOP eventually takes back Congress, one of its first acts should be a statute or even a constitutional amendment, if necessary to avoid separation-of-powers concerns, requiring “czars” to sit through the same Senate confirmation process that cabinet appointees are made to endure. Obama’s exploited that loophole at least twice now, once to install Jones and the other to make this nut our new King of Science or whatever, and the most ethical Congress evah won’t rouse itself to inquire. If the president can’t be trusted not to appoint Truther filthbags then he’ll simply have to be checked and balanced, right, Bush-hating Democrats? Exit question: Will Jones be gone before today’s airing of “Glenn Beck”? If so, what does it say about Obama that evidently communists are fit to be czars but Truther communists are a bridge too far?

If Obama dumped Jones it would cause a domino effect with the rest of his Czars. Mark Lloyd is just as radical and dangerous. Also another disciple of Saul Alinsky. There is a common thread running through all these unconfirmed radicals coming and going from the White House.

From a guy who likes to invoke Occam’s Razor…what’s more likely…

9/11 truth faked all the names and is confirming they signed it.

Or he signed it himself.

Which is more likely? The latter obviously.

It’s amazing what CJ has done lately too. He was so eager to pain all the tea party people are paulians for the few that were there, but when obvious evidence comes about – which in his mind (I suppose) mean obama is a truther too, he denies it.

Van “Toast” Jones.

We have a three-day weekend coming up and two big Obama events next week.

Does Obama dump this guy quietly at 5:59 pm Friday to clean the decks so that Jones doesn’t overshadow his kiddie speech and Congress speech?

Or does he hang tough with the guy and risk having his speeches overwhelmed by the TOAST MAN.

Again, this is BEGGING for an SNL skit…but noooo, nothing funny here, huh?

I’ll do it for them….fade in…Obama interviews successively crazier candidates for positions within his administration.

The 7 minute skit would include successful job interviews would start with Van Jones, and get progressively worse, including that guy who kept the girls in his backyard, Ghengis Khan, and ultimately a guy eating a fake baby head on a stick (all the while telling Obama how eating baby heads was brief phase in his life).

It would culminate in one of those weak SNL finishes where GW Bush pops his head in for a job interview and Obama says absolutely not, get that guy out of here he disgusts me and the Secret Service haul W away.

–Health care reform (Nancy deParle)
–Science policy (John Holdren)
–Technology policy (Vivek Kundra

Maybe, but it would still lead to a lot of bad publicity when the GOP asked embarrassing questions. If they lied, someone would eventually expose the lie and that would be even worse publicity.

I think Obama was counting on the friendly press to ignore what people discovered about the Czars. And so far he has been right, but he underestimated other sources of news including Fox.

A GOP led Senate or House committee would not need a new statute or constitutional amendment to subpoena Van Jones or any of the other czars to appear to answer questions, i.e., explain their roles in the administration, the extent of their authority etc., including answering to their past associations and comments. Just because there’d be no vote, doesn’t mean that the light of an open hearing wouldn’t do any good.

Beck’s ratings are going to go through the roof.
These advertising boycotts are going to fizzle out soon enough.

WisCon on September 3, 2009 at 1:50 PM

Beck’s averaging about 3 million viewers a day on his TV show lately and, what, about twice that in radio audience. By my math, that translates to about 1 in every 30 people, or about 1 in 15 adults, in the entire country.

But, because of overlap between audiences and intangibles, let’s just say he’s reaching but 1 in 50 adults. Still, that’s a huge number for any advertiser.

More important, that’s a lot of people learning about what’s behind the curtain of this corrupt crowd. And, his audience is a lot more active than the mostly geriactric group that comprises much of the state run media outlets, which is why Soros, Obama and company are coming after Beck, Rush, Hannity, etc.

Depends on what he was convicted of. Most states will disbar only if the lawyer commits a crime of “moral turpitude”.

That includes all the obvious violent felonies (murder, armed robbery, rape, etc.), perjury, fraud, theft and more.

A mere assault, crimes of negligence, DWI, etc., might get you a suspension but not full disbarment.

How can a communist be a czar? Didn’t the Communists kill the czars in Russia?

When the GOP eventually takes back Congress, one of its first acts should be a statute or even a constitutional amendment, if necessary to avoid separation-of-powers concerns, requiring “czars” to sit through the same Senate confirmation process that cabinet appointees are made to endure.

Bingo! Of course, if a “czar” had to be confirmed by the Senate, he/she would essentially become a Cabinet Secretary. Another way of avoiding concentrating too much power in the hands of unelected, unconfirmed “czars” is to pass a law stating that no person can be penalized (fined or jailed) for failing to obey an “order” or “rule” not explicitly approved in writing by a Cabinet secretary confirmed by the Senate. This would mean that people could flout rules from “czars” with impunity, and basically render the “czars” powerless, and useless to the President.

Most Departments of the Executive Branch have been established by acts of Congress, which has imposed their duties and limits on their powers, and on the powers of Cabinet Secretaries who lead them. If they get out of hand, ordinary citizens can sue them and have judicial decisions based on laws passed by Congress.

The problem with the dozens of “czars” appointed by Obama is that they give orders and are accountable to no one except Obama, since there are no laws governing their behavior, have not been confirmed by the Senate, and do not have a Department in the Executive Branch which is governed by Congressional statute. They therefore have no legal standing, so if private citizens are willing to fight them in a lawsuit, they could be routinely disobeyed. Their only real “power” is that of intimidation, where they could launch a PR smear campaign backed by the White House in order to blackmail people into obeying them.

But with Obama’s poll numbers sinking, and growing numbers of people in open rebellion against Obama and his plans, how many people can still be intimidated into submission by an Obama acolyte with no legal standing whatsoever?

Steve Z on September 3, 2009 at 2:51 PM

Someone commented that Van Jones had moved up the list from 47 to 46 likely because of someone being scrubbed from the list above him. Comparing the list from 911truth.org site to one from the wayback machine it appears Rachel Ehrenfeld has been removed. I suspect she had herself removed as her career doesn’t fit the resume of a truther. Someone probably added her as a ‘joke.’

Rightyismighty on September 3, 2009 at 3:05 PM

A Republican congress can pass all the amendments they want but it won’t do a damn bit of good. Van Jones would have sailed right through the confirmation process becasue the feckless GOP would have been too afraid to expose him and vote against him for fear of being labeled racists. I have absolutely no faith whatsoever in the current Republican leadership. Why is it that it took an “ex alcoholic DJ” to bring all this to light? Sure Jake Tapper and his ilk would never dare to do it but does that mean the GOP has to stay silent? My guess is that most of them don’t have a clue who or what Jones is. Hell, alot of them still think Obama respects the Constitution and will govern from the “center”.

I think I am going to re email all the advetisers that are boycotting GB and ask them if they support the Color Of Change and its founder?

d1carter on September 3, 2009 at 3:20 PM

I’ve always wondered if you’re a Truther, wouldn’t you also be a Birther?

Being a Birther actually seems like a big leap back towards sanity compared to a Truther.

Oh, wait… I think I just anwered my own question.

Never mind.

One of the funniest hypocrisies I watched over the past couple of days has been Chris Matthews doing his best to defame Bob McDonnell. Over and over again he has said an 18-year-old college paper must define who the man is today, because McDonnell was 34 when he wrote the thesis. However, Matthews or any of the other propagandists on MSNBC bother to mention this Jones dude and the things he has said in the past few months. The contrast between the two is night and day.

Not to mention how all last year the same jerks said sitting in a church for 20 years and listening to hate speech meant nothing. Video of Obama talking about bankrupting the coal industry meant nothing. Obama’s support of live birth abortion meant nothing. No, it was all just hyperbole coming from the right.

But now a college paper about traditional family values written almost two decades ago must absolutely and unequivocally define the essayist today. No wonder those clowns have lower ratings than a repeat of The Rosie O’Donnell Variety Show.

and besides that “he can be an a$$hole” according to him.

I think he’s finding out that he doesn’t have the corner on that market.

To boycott Beck is the same as supporting Van Jones and his Color of Change communist manifesto!

Juarez, Mexico when I was going to NMSU in Las Cruces. 30 cent for a shot of Jose or a bottle of Corona at the bars. Good times.

I think everyone who attends UTEP or NMSU goes across the boarder to get drunk on the cheap and watching one of the shows is a badge of honor.

Holger on September 3, 2009 at 3:28 PM

It would culminate in one of those weak SNL finishes where GW Bush pops his head in for a job interview and Obama says absolutely not, get that guy out of here he disgusts me and the Secret Service haul W away.

NickelAndDime on September 3, 2009 at 2:10 PM

Better — he opens the door for the last interview to see Sarah Palin, slams the door, and calls security.

hat you mean.

I’m coming from the basis of the establishment clause having to do with Federal law and not state, local or common law.
Establishing a religion as being the official religion of the country.

Not all law school grads want to be lawyers. Ask AP.

Errr. Wrong quote.I meant to respond to this…

Many of these types go to law schoo to learn how to ‘game’ the system and have no intention of becoming lawyers.

As our moms used to tell us – “You’re known by the company you keep.” I guess Obama’s mama didn’t get that message in Indonesia.

As if just having been a communist wasn’t enough.

You guys act like the “Green Jobs Czar” is like the Vice President or Secretary of State position. It is just a honorary position for a constituent, nothing more. These Czars are less than evean a Ambassador position.

Hey let’s investigate the communist leanings of the White House Chef and Housekeeper next. Sure this guy is a nut but so might the Housekeeper be a nut. They have equal status in the Obama White House.

America was founded upon the idea of freedom and the pursuit of happines..
The idea that as long as i follow the rules
and work hard i can keep and earn as much as i wish..

But according to these liberal TRAITORS.
They will NOT allow any of us to make
any more money than they deem necessary..

So in other words..

After the leftists have all Made their millions
they want to ensure that ONLY THEY
CAN BE RICH..
They want to make sure all of us are poor slobs
totally dependant upon their sorry asses..

Every single time this goof Van Jones opens his mouth and words begin to issue forth, I cannot help but wonder if this certified blithering loudmouth buffoon would be more at home wearing crazy looking tights and going up against The Undertaker in a Steel Cage Match on WWE Smackdown. I mean, he already has the perfect pro-wrestler name, so why not just take it to the next level and get it over with?
