Wonderful: “Green jobs” czar Van Jones is a Truther

posted at 1:36 pm on September 3, 2009 by Allahpundit

In which Gateway Pundit does the Googling that Obama refuses to do. Although honestly, at this point I think Jones’s hiring is best explained not as a breakdown in vetting but as a goof by Obama to see just how much crap the media will let him get away with. “Hey Rahm — bet you 20 bucks I can get a Truther communist appointed to an environmental oversight position.”

Birthers at the town halls … and Truthers in the White House. Which has gotten more press coverage?

NEW YORK CITY, NY (Oct. 26, 2004) – An alliance of 100 prominent Americans and 40 family members of those killed on 9/11 today announced the release of the 911 Truth Statement, a call for immediate inquiry into evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11th attacks to occur. The Statement supports an August 31st Zogby poll that found nearly 50% of New Yorkers believe the government had foreknowledge and “consciously failed to act,” with 66% wanting a new 9/11 investigation.

Follow the link and you’ll find Jones’s signature the 46th at the bottom. And no, there’s no chance that he was mistakenly added to the list. I’ve been trying to come up with a joke all morning about what sort of leftist lunatic might be next on O’s hiring list, but I simply can’t top “Truther communist.” Congratulations, Barry: You’re now parody-proof.

When the GOP eventually takes back Congress, one of its first acts should be a statute or even a constitutional amendment, if necessary to avoid separation-of-powers concerns, requiring “czars” to sit through the same Senate confirmation process that cabinet appointees are made to endure. Obama’s exploited that loophole at least twice now, once to install Jones and the other to make this nut our new King of Science or whatever, and the most ethical Congress evah won’t rouse itself to inquire. If the president can’t be trusted not to appoint Truther filthbags then he’ll simply have to be checked and balanced, right, Bush-hating Democrats? Exit question: Will Jones be gone before today’s airing of “Glenn Beck”? If so, what does it say about Obama that evidently communists are fit to be czars but Truther communists are a bridge too far?

MADgirl91 on September 3, 2009 at 1:48 PM

At least twice? In addition to Van Jones, Obama has appointed “czars” for:

–Energy and environment (Carol Browner)
–Economic policy (Larry Summers)
–Urban policy (Adolfo Carrion)
–Health care reform (Nancy deParle)
–Science policy (John Holdren)
–Technology policy (Vivek Kundra)

All of these areas are already handled by one and sometimes multiple cabinet agencies. And it is likely that none of these people would have survived a Senate confirmation hearing. So they are not only unnecessary, they are controversial people whose exposure in a Senate hearing would have undoubtedly damaged the Administration.

BuckeyeSam on September 3, 2009 at 2:01 PM

Remember guys and gals, this nutcase is controlling the purse strings of roughly 100 billion stimulus dollars:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A $100 billion U.S. government investment over two years could create 2 million “green” jobs in such industrial sectors as steel and construction, environmental and labor groups said on Tuesday…John Podesta, president of the think tank and a former Clinton administration official, said $50 billion of the investment would be tax credits to help private businesses and homeowners pay to make their buildings more energy efficient; $46 billion would be in the form of direct government spending on retrofitting buildings, expanding mass transit and freight rail, making “smart” electrical grids and new investment in renewable energy; and $4 billion in federal loan guarantees.
To put the amount in perspective, Podesta said the April 2008 stimulus program cost $168 billion.

Retrofitting buildings where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, Van Jones talking to prisoners in San Quentin before he became green jobs czar:

“This moment here at San Quentin can be a turning point
for the whole human race,” Jones said. “San Quentin can
take healing and recovery to a different
level.”…Declaring, “There is an opportunity to do something extraordinary in San Quentin,”Jones proposed building a cadre of people who could “re-power and retrofit America.” He explained that the stimulus bill that Obama passed provides between $100-$150 billion for renewable energy and to create new industries.

Yeah, this guy’s a gem.
