Video: Van Jones and “revolution”

posted at 10:12 am on September 3, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Naked Emperor News strikes again by finding revealing clips of an interview conducted by “Uprising Radio” with Van Jones seventeen months ago.  Jones, the green jobs czar, explains how his allies want to conduct a revolution on the sly.  Call it radical incrementalism, call it an offshoot of the Alinksy method, but it certainly seems that Jones is easily the most radical White House aide in many, many years:

Actually, stoking crises for political action falls more under the Cloward-Piven tactic, but why quibble? I wonder if some of the civil-rights pioneers might be surprised to hear Jones equating the green movement with the freedom of people and the end of political and economic discrimination based on color. I guess green is a color, but unless we’re talking about Martians or the Irish, it’s a ridiculous analogy.

A truly economic argument for “green jobs” would show how the transfer to a so-called green economy would outperform what we have at the moment. Since experience proves that argument a loser, Jones and his allies want to cast the effort as a new revolution. It sounds a lot like old revolutions, and one that won’t free people like the civil-rights movement, but one that will put people in thrall to an autocracy that dictates economic activity and strips property rights from its citizens. We saw that often enough in the 20th century to know how it turns out — badly.

If anyone needed evidence of the Jug-eared One’s socialist tendencies, this should satisfy the bill in spades. Van Jones is an avowed Communist, a rabble-rouser,a race-baiter, and a generally offensive human being, and has no place in any administration.

The mask has slipped from the visage of the Redistributionist-in-Chief.

And in that case, well ….. I’ll have to think about it.

Not to worry, it isn’t really 57, some of those never even had ads on Glenn Beck. These are false statistics fed by Van’s group, the ColorOfChange.org.

Not only did Beck’s ratings not drop, he brutally beat the competion on Aug 27th:

5PM – P2+ (25-54) (35-64)
Glenn Beck– 3,040,000 viewers (888,000) (1,385,000)
Situation Room—688,000 viewers (141,000) (271,000)
Hardball w/ Chris Matthews—536,000 viewers (139,000) (217,000)
Fast Money—215,000 viewers (55,000) (80,000)
Prime News–267,000 viewers (97,000) (109,000)
A left-wing group’s effort to intimidate corporate advertisers on Fox News’ Glenn Beck show appears to be backfiring as it triggers a wave of support from grass-roots fans rushing to defend the popular TV personality from the attacks.
Although the group garnered some success initially, it appears that it is making claims that don’t match reality, with several major companies claiming they never joined any boycott of Beck’s show.

Exaggerated Boycotts

The anti-Beck activists claim that more than 20 advertisers have dropped the Beck program. Hill and others on the pro-Beck side dispute say Color of Change has greatly exaggerated the effect of its boycott.

Many of the companies the organization lists now deny they have anything to do with the boycott. Newsmax contacted Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, SC Johnson, and Radio Shack, all of which said they have not directed Fox News to pull their ads from the Glenn Beck Program, as Color of Change has stated.

In fact, these companies’ representatives tell Newsmax that, as a matter of corporate policy, they never did advertise on the Glenn Beck Program and ask how they could boycott a program they never placed an ad on in the first place.

Another company, State Farm, tells Newsmax that its ad was never supposed to air on the Glenn Beck Program. State Farm has a longstanding company policy against advertising on any “political or opinion programming,” its spokesman says.

Having discovered the error, State Farm says, it will not be advertising on any cable talk show. And it is careful to emphasize it is not singling out Beck in this regard.

As State Farm’s response suggests, the net effect of the anti-Beck crusade probably will be fewer advertisers willing to advertise on the talk shows of any cable network.

Consider, for example, the corporate response from Clorox. On Thursday, company executives wrote Hill stating: “After a comprehensive review of political talk shows across the spectrum, at this time we have made a decision not to advertise on political talk shows.”

Assuming the pro-Beck backlash continues, that probably means the activist campaign intended to hurt Beck will, ironically, damage Beck’s progressive competitors more than it hurts him.

Lost ads will impact smaller networks such as MSNBC far more than it will affect ratings juggernaut Fox News, industry sources say.http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/beck_boycott_fox_backlash/2009/08/23/251369.html

lovingmyUSA on September 3, 2009 at 11:02 AM

Heh, I’ve been calling myself a “green capitalist” since the early 90′s, since myself and a group of friends invented a patented system of artificial reefs to help create marine habitat to help restore damaged areas and provide structure as a basis for fisheries restoration. We now have them being built all over the world. (Reefballs, if you care to know more…)

I recognized then that for any real private-enterprise environmental initiative to survive, it needed to make a profit, and I needed to provide for my family while “saving the oceans, and thereby saving the planet”.

Heh, Van Jones is single-handedly gonna make people associate the “green movement” with a socialist revolution. Good job Van!

Hening on September 3, 2009 at 11:21 AM

It’s hard to find a “most radical loon” in this administration. It may be O’Bozo himself. I don’t think it’s his wife — she seems more like a Rangel, a garden-variety liberal who uses race as a political crutch to get what she wants, in her case money and influence.

She may be more racially extreme than Barry, but he’s almost certainly the leftist true believer of the two. Then again, he’s not really black, so that’s easier for him.

Cass Sunstein and his dirtbag Irish wife are serious radicals who would be shunned by a decent society. Obama hired them on Day 1.

Is anyone still buying the “post-racial” meme? Or the “post-partisan” one, for that matter? If so, please have your head examined by a professional.

The Jug-eared One has appointed some of the most radical, partisan, and divisive people to be found anywhere. And the Jug-eared One himself has used the tactic of picking one group after another and attempting to poison public opinion against them (bankers, “greedy” investors, doctors, insurance workers, CEOs…) Divide and conquer is closer to his actual modus operandi than his supposed leadership and his mythic abilities to transcend partisanship to unite us. The media’s rose-colored portrait of this poseur is exposed on a daily basis as ludicrous.

As for the other comments about Beck and security firms and Van Jones being particularly “dangerous” and all that, I urge everyone to stick to the more effective and mainstream ridicule of this pathetic, racist douchebag.

He is not “a bad dude”, he is a clown and a farce, and exposing the administration to his hilarious, juvenile statements and opinions will go a lot farther than trying to turn him into a threat and a serious person. He is neither.

The “pray for Glen!” stuff also seems to encourage him in an unhealthy way. Sure, there are nutty leftists; we have all seen these angry little fairies. But beyond angry confrontations at ANSWR protests, they are nothing to be afraid of. They hate the 2nd Amendment, so almost none of them have guns, and they hate the military, so none of them know anything about fighting.

They are a bunch of pathetic sissies, mostly, including their paid union flab.

Beck is brilliant to “pick a target” “freeze it” “personalize it” and “polarize it”. Let’s use Alinsky against them.

marklmail on September 3, 2009 at 10:18 AM

Exactly. Beck has figured out that the best way to counter an alinsky-ite is with alinsky tactics.

And it’s proving to be very effective too.

More, please.

techno_barbarian on September 3, 2009 at 12:14 PM

I find his candor refreshing. I wish Obama would just let his freak flag fly, put a big red banner with the hammer and sickle on the White House website and shout “Hell yea I’m a Communist, whatcha gonna do about it?!”

Ted Torgerson on September 3, 2009 at 12:16 PM

Glenn Becks is right- we all need to contact our senators and congresspeople and DEMAND that they DEMAND answers from the White House about Obama’s czars.

This is unacceptable. The MSM won’t touch this, and that fact alone ought to shut down the MSM! Dirty butt smoochers.

anniekc on September 3, 2009 at 12:16 PM

I guarantee that even my most die hard Obama supporter friiends and relatives would be appalled by the kool aid this nutjob is peddling and forwards go around very fast.

ORconservative on September 3, 2009 at 11:57 AM

You have very wimpy liberal friends. This One is a logical extension of The One.

IlikedAUH2O on September 3, 2009 at 12:16 PM

If Obama and his goons are attempting to incite a revolution then they’re about to be successful.

rplat on September 3, 2009 at 12:19 PM

OH EM GEE! Glenn Beck, please get on this! These are the unspoken thoughts of our President, and I fear for what else yet unsaid.

Green Muse on September 3, 2009 at 10:41 AM

Glenn Beck has been on it all morning on radio. He played it to start the show. Will it be on T.V. this afternoon? Bank on it.

jimmy2shoes on September 3, 2009 at 12:19 PM

Mr. Jones may be in a payback no show job. Hey, I have hope.

Kissmygrits on September 3, 2009 at 12:21 PM

Hey hey! Ho ho!
Van Jones must go!

Hey hey! Ho ho!
Van Jones must go!

Hey hey! Ho ho!
Van Jones must go!

petefrt on September 3, 2009 at 12:22 PM

Just for the record…Comrade Jones is a great guy, and I never said anything bad about him…I don’t even know these people…gulags give me skin rashes…PLEASE, NO, DON’T SEND ME THERE!….

RBMN on September 3, 2009 at 12:23 PM

Hopefully a few more of these videos and under the buss he goes. “This is not the van jones i knew.”

Greed on September 3, 2009 at 12:25 PM

Beck is right. We should stop the legislative process until Obama explains what this is all about. Don’t pass ANYTHING further. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

petefrt on September 3, 2009 at 12:26 PM

Be careful attacking this guy. That issue can be a substitute for substance for the gang in the White House to do some base pandering.

Bottom line, is there any election victory here? The MSM will ignore you, then attack you..then spin this right back in your face. You racist.

IlikedAUH2O on September 3, 2009 at 12:26 PM

I heard yesterday that House Republicans are drafting legislation to deal with these czars. Obama, his czars, and Jones specifically are completely out of control.

BuckeyeSam on September 3, 2009 at 11:04 AM

Great thought. However, the problem with this statement is that the Republicans can’t get anything they propose in Congress to go anywhere.

The harsh reality of Nov. 08 is that Conservative Republicans are powerless, unless some Democrats (and RINOs) break with the pack to pull back on the Executive power-grab going on without ANY checks and balances.

petefrt on September 3, 2009 at 12:26 PM

Stop the process until we know what it is all about? Ha Ha even if we had the whole American public asking, and an answer, what would come of it?

The One explained a part of it to Joe the Plumber.

He said the wrong thing, for once, the truth. Look at what happened to him.

Ummm..not what happened to The One, I meant Joe.
