Video: Van Jones and “revolution”

posted at 10:12 am on September 3, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Naked Emperor News strikes again by finding revealing clips of an interview conducted by “Uprising Radio” with Van Jones seventeen months ago.  Jones, the green jobs czar, explains how his allies want to conduct a revolution on the sly.  Call it radical incrementalism, call it an offshoot of the Alinksy method, but it certainly seems that Jones is easily the most radical White House aide in many, many years:

Actually, stoking crises for political action falls more under the Cloward-Piven tactic, but why quibble? I wonder if some of the civil-rights pioneers might be surprised to hear Jones equating the green movement with the freedom of people and the end of political and economic discrimination based on color. I guess green is a color, but unless we’re talking about Martians or the Irish, it’s a ridiculous analogy.

A truly economic argument for “green jobs” would show how the transfer to a so-called green economy would outperform what we have at the moment. Since experience proves that argument a loser, Jones and his allies want to cast the effort as a new revolution. It sounds a lot like old revolutions, and one that won’t free people like the civil-rights movement, but one that will put people in thrall to an autocracy that dictates economic activity and strips property rights from its citizens. We saw that often enough in the 20th century to know how it turns out — badly.

Ya know, I knew several anti-war types that voted for Obama last year. They were far from hardcore liberal extremists. Just people that were fed up with Bush and the direction the country had taken. So, they more or less just went for the new guy. This can’t be the change they had in mind, but it is hard to get them to be honest about the MISTAKE they made voting for this unknown commodity.

And, I really hate to say “I told ya so” every single time I see one of them, but hey…

Obama must be just as radical as these czars or they would not have been appointed – I think being president he works very hard to control it, although we get glimpses every now and then when he lets his guard down. It isn’t one or even several people that are like that, his administration is infested with radicals. Most of us on here are not surprised by this – we knew it before he was elected. Remember how the MSM and liberals were appalled that we insinuated he might be a radical because of the people he associated himself with all of his life and how belittled we were for even thinking that? Well, we have been proven right – you really should be judged by the company you keep. On Hannity last night, a blond Republican congressperson(can’t remember her name)said she was working on a bill concerning the czars. A few congressmen are starting to say things about Obama and his administration, including one of mine, Jim Inhofe. There should be a whole lot more of of them doing that, but perhaps it is better for the Dems to keep showing themselves for what they are. The Repubs would just be called for playing politics. Soon(thanks to Glenn)it will be out there for most to see with their own eyes. The problem is the MSM will never cover it and some people who don’t watch Fox will never know it or admit it.

silvernana on September 3, 2009 at 12:40 PM

That’s my point, I do not think that the majority of Obama voters knew they were voting for a far left zealot and they absolutely did. Their fault, no question, but until they are confronted with how far left this administration is, people will continue with their heads in the sand.

ORconservative on September 3, 2009 at 12:49 PM

This guys story needs to be placed right in the WH press office’s lap, followed by some good old fashioned citizen outrage and pressure on various Congresscritters to crack this fool, or nothing will ever happen.

Obama obviously loves and admires this guy.

No pressure, no action.

Right now many people are still in denial and refuse to hear the negatives. They made an investment in this moron and feel his shortcomings are a reflection upon them. Eventually there will be a turning point and that might be Afghanistan. That one could turn into a harsh reality that will take the boomers right back to those draft lotteries many moons ago.

You know, you can find countries that have little oppression and inequality and that run on a green economy all over the world. It’s called the “third world” and they are uniformly terrible places for humans to live. If these progressive ideas were as good as these people claim they were, they would be succeeding against capitalism and displacing it through evolution, not revolution.

The progressivism, the ecology, saving the planet — it’s never about that. These people are out to change our country for one reason and one reason alone: The US has the money and the power, and they want control of it. All the slogans are just a means to an end, a way to convince people to hand over that control. And if they succeed, we’ll just end up as a huge failure, just like the USSR was.

rbj on September 3, 2009 at 10:40 AM

This is exactly the heart of the matter. In a representative government, the people realize that we cannot all be physically in the same room at the same time to discuss what needs doing and how to do it. So, we tell some hopefully honest person to go represent a whole bunch of us. And that person is not much more than an order-taker. It is not their job to tell us what WE want. It is for us to tell THEM what we want. Way past time to throw the bums out, and institute term limits!

These are the same lefty morons who pushed the Nuclear Freeze and romanticized the Sandinistas back in the 1980s. They just change their “front” issue to whatever seems hot and appealing to college kids – back then it was nuclear weapons, now it is the environment.

I also happen to think Van Jones is a blowhard who has managed to parlay a few incendiary speeches and fake organizations into a nice cushy White House office with a big salary. I think he’s a con man and has conned Barack Obama. I’m not really afraid of him, just pissed that my tax dollars are paying for his cocaine.

Oh the revolution’s coming – just not the one that this little tyrant and his minions are trying to foment.

And it won’t be televised.

J.J. Sefton on September 3, 2009 at 10:19 AM

From my first viewing of Obama in the Black Liberation Church of his race-mongering Reverend, well, I’ve had a deep feeling in my gut that this Great Nation is headed for some dark days that are going to end in bloodshed. Apparently I’m not the only “whacko-nutjob” in the crowd. However, I don’t see any revolution coming I see more of a civil/race war on the horizon.

I find it pathetic that every time I see a new clip of this whitey-hating Czar disseminating his racial hatred to a crowd, it’s always a crowd of white people. They love him! How many millions of mindless people do we have that can’t see racial hatred beneath all the talk of green revolution? Why don’t we ever see him talking his revolution to crowds of blacks? He doesn’t need to because the majority of blacks are in his pocket ready to ride with him to the Reparations Office to get their check from the white devil, and most of those wouldn’t mind putting a cap in the devil’s a$$ on the way.

The fact that Obama has this man as an adviser is truly scary. What’s scarier, though, and what I do every time I think of a possible violent upheaval is check out the youtube vids of gun confiscation during Katrina. It’s a very sad eye opener to watch police and national guards do the gestapo march on law-abiding citizens. For all the talk I’ve heard over the years from gun owning people about never giving up their guns to tyranny, including most of my family and dearest friends, not one gun owner went out in a blaze of glory when confronted with this unconstitutional weapons confiscation. I ain’t knocking them, because they were good people who were scared to death. Who wouldn’t be? Indeed, these times only get scarier..

Why everyone in the media besides Beck is picking their nose while this guy gets away with spouting these hate-filled ideas as soon-to-be government mandates is inexplicable. Cass Sunstein, Regulatory Czar

“We ought to ban hunting” – Cass Sunstein, in a 2007 speech at Harvard University

“[A]lmost all gun control legislation is constitutionally fine. And if the Court is right, then fundamentalism does not justify the view that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms. ” – Cass Sunstein, writing in his book, “Radicals in Robes”

“Animals should be permitted to bring suit, with human beings as their representatives…” – 2004 book Animal Rights: Current Debates and New Directions

“[Humans’] willingness to subject animals to unjustified suffering will be seen … as a form of unconscionable barbarity… morally akin to slavery and the mass extermination of human beings.” – Cass Sunstein, in a 2007 speech at Harvard University

“[T]here should be extensive regulation of the use of animals in entertainment, in scientific experiments, and in agriculture.” – Cass Sunstein, “The Rights of Animals: A Very Short Primer,” August 2002.

“A system of limitless individual choices, with respect to communications, is not necessarily in the interest of citizenship and self-government.” -Cass Sunstein, arguing for a Fairness Doctrine for the Internet in his book, Republic.com 2.0 (page 137).

Yeah, that Cass Sunstein.

From a Townhall:

Broun, R-Athens, apparently has not changed his belief that President Obama may be a fascist since he made similar remarks in Augusta in November and then in an Associated Press interview.

He told a meeting of the Morgan County Republicans on Wednesday night that Obama already has or will have the three things he needs to make himself a dictator: a national police force, gun control and control over the press.

“He has the three things that are necessary to establish an authoritarian government,” Broun said. “And so we need to be ever-vigilant, because freedom is precious.”

The “green movement” has always been a socialist front movement. I grew up in leftwing circles in the Netherlands. In the mid-1980s as a teen I was a member of a nature friends association (natuurvriendenclub NIVON) that came out of the old (1930s) socialist movement, to get the proletarians out of the city and back to nature – weekends in the woods with lots of alcohol, weed and other good stuff. By the mid-1980s as the Soviet Union was collapsing the various socialist and communist parties all began to rebrand themselves and eventually merged into a green party (Groen Links). Global warming had not been invented yet. We had to make do with acid rain, then the hole in the ozone layer and finally in the early 1990 global warming, now “climate change”. It’s all crap.

I could respect the retro-Commies…they’d get out there with their AKs, take to the streets, try to storm…er, some government building or other.

Back then they were targets.

But these Commies nowadays…corporate Marxists, hiding behind laws and the legitimacy of governmental authority, blogging, Twittering, networking, blogging, fixing elections…hard to actually tell if they really are Commies or not. No longer are they folks government troops can draw a bead on.

Just the crazy old guy that lives down the street yelling at kids to get off his lawn and leave his Obama/Kerry/Kennedy/Edwards campaign sign alone, the hard-headed Democrat Great Plains farmer who thinks that a make-believe government in Washington has all the answers, some slick PhD type in some university somewhere who got a PhD in the first place mainly to get laid more easily, or some twenty-something metrosexual emo who has kinda heard of Karl Marx.

Naw, this bunch won’t have any Gulags, there won’t be any Whites vs. Reds battles, no Strelnikov/Trotskys masterminding the war against the forces of Reaction.

They’ll merely bore us with their Newspeak, entertain us with their internal power struggles and squabbling, but continue to astonish us with their total disconnect with reality.

Has anyone asked McCain about this man??? Does McCain believe that he has nothing but a political disagreement with this man??? Will someone ask McCain if he thinks this man,, this close adviser to the President respects the constitution???
McCain! Are you there??? Are you listening?? Are you watching???? Do these people remind you of anyone else you have spent any amount of time with from your past??? Is he saying the kinds of things you have ever heard said before???
This man and those who are with him,, want one thing. They want to crush and destroy us. They want to take our homes. Take our children. Take our property, our very lives if they could!
This is not a time for sleep. This is not a time for leisure. We must stay awake every moment and watch and listen at every opportunity. This is bigger than just our jobs or even the economy. This is about our nation,, our lives and our future as a free people. If America turns,, what will happen to the world???
Never has more depended upon average and normal people. Moms and dads. Barbers, doctors, mechanics, truck drivers and others. Forget Republican leadership. There is none. It is up to the people. Up to all of us.
If celebrities can make a fool of themselves by pledging service to a manchild like Obama.

Well , we each need to make our own pledge to maintain this nation for our children, for the next generation and yes,, for the world. Quite honestly,,, I pledge it all. I have little,, but what I got is going to whatever I can do,, great or small, to defeat these morons. To see that they fail. Because if they succeed, it’s all gone anyway!

Glenn Beck is from radio so he’s developed many of those voices and expressions and such to AUDIBLY emphasize his points and create caricatures of that which he wants an audience to perceive as such…

So, adapting to a television audience has carried forward all of that but now we see it visually, so that’s where the “exaggerated” expressions and such come from, from radio, times when that degree of elaboration was necessary to communicate without the visual.

I agree that at some times (though rarely) he’s excessive visually but Beck ALWAYS gets information across that no one else is covering at the outset and his use of visuals and those comedic voices and such don’t bother me.

I’m glad you’ve tuned into Beck’s program. I try to watch him daily and I especially now appreciate it that Fox has him on rebroadcast at a later hour (or at least my cable provider does — he’s on in the afternoon and then rebroadcast later in the night).
